Went to the largo restaurant, was not at all happy with the food. I had Brisket not all that tender and not much flavor, the sausage was good the slaw and beans were great . My wife had a chicken leg don't think it was BBQd , the ribs she had , she had to chew the meat off the bone it did not come off very easily. We had to put on a lot of extra sauce. The waitress was not very nice and the hostess was really pissy . Won't be going back there ever again read more

Seems the only time we go to Sonny's anymore is for a fundraiser.... because Sonny's does SO MANY of them!!! YAY!!! Even though they are a chain, they are constantly giving back to the community. Last night, we went to support a local school's music program. This location has been renovated in the past few years, and is clean, modern, and the staff works like a well oiled machine! Our waitress was just plain miserable!! It wasn't busy but she rushed us to order took forever to get our food to the point it was cold! I got the sampler. Brisket was so cold it was hard as a rock the chicken was pink the ribs and pulled pork was cold as well but was able to eat it. The family I was with found hair in her kids meal. We were planning on ordering dessert but she just handed us our checks and walked away without asking if we wanted dessert or needed boxes. So I had to ask someone else for a box. While on vacation, we decided upon BBQ and decided to try Sonny's (was close to our hotel). The parking lot was packed, so we were thinking "Wow, this is the place", it's NOT.. Once we got seated, took a while to get drinks. Forget trying to get refills or even SILVERWARE.. Took ONE HOUR from the time we got seated until we got our dinner.. INEXCUSABLE.. They seemed short-staffed and overwhelmed. Two LARGE parties had come in and not sure if they pre-ordered (maybe we should have if we had that option). THANK GOD the food was GOOD and hot.. That's the ONLY reason they even got two stars. Our waiter apologized for the wait once it hit 45 minutes of wait time. No Mgr to apologize .. Even if I lived next door, I wouldn't be coming back.. Wow never miss a chance for Sonny's when we're in the US. Absolutely love there salad with smoked meat delicious. The sandwiches are delicious and the ribs yummy. The wonton wraps are to die for. Can't say enough honestly the staff are great the food incredible and the beer really cold in frosted mugs. Our go to is on Titusville you guys are the best. Went to Sonny's for their great pork special dinner. Waitress really good. Strange happening when I ordered a glass of Merlot. She came back to the table to let me know they had no red wine. Not just no Merlot but NO RED WINE. Guess the person responsible for keeping the restaurant stocked miscounted and no one thought to get an extra delivery or drive down to a store and buy a few bottles. Best BBQ place anywhere, smoky bones isn't even in the same class as Sonny's. In fact, I am a great BBQ rib guy (smoke, low cook, pressure cook, grill, etc) and people love my ribs but overall they are much better and I do not have to cook for two days. In addition, have eaten BBQ ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken in Memphis, Texas, N & S Carolina, Illinois, Georgia, Mississippi, Alaska, and many other places, but I have never had such quality meet and sides that were so perfectly flavored and cooked any better than Sonny's in Largo. We ordered take out for 10 people on Labor Day 2020 and it was perfection, they did not miss a single step and our entire group was very impressed...this is my new BBQ place, and I think I am going to sell my smoker. read more

First the good. Curbside pick up was on time and easy. Pulled pork and the baked beans were good. Chicken was just ok. The ribs were dry. The brisket was tender but lacked any taste and was extremely dry. The garlic bread was tough. The biggest disappointment was when I opened the baked sweet potato and it was a regular baked potato. I threw a big afternoon family party at my house yesterday and was very frazzled that morning driving in crazy traffic trying to get the food/desserts together for the 2pm event. Let me first state that I had called a few places for pricing two days earlier and SONNY'S bbq WAS THE ONLY PLACE THAT CALLED ME BACK. Right away, in fact. The manager Michelle took my order, the prices were reasonable. When I got there day of, there was a slight wait as they had to find my order which was under my first name, not my last. No problem, they found it and the male manager on that day was super efficient, made sure I was completely happy and basically calmed me down :D. This was my first and quite possibly my last experience with Sonny's BBQ My daughter and I ordered curbside because we are still unsure about eating in during Covid and we were in a hurry. I arrived 2 minutes early pulled into One of the designated spots for curbside and waited. Five minutes goes by and someone comes to the car to ask my name-- they go inside to check and while they are inside 2 more cars pull up. Another few minutes goes by and the server comes back addresses the new cars and then tells me my order was next in line (I mentioned again that I was in a hurry and asked for a time estimate-- I have been a server/bartender my entire life I understand that most of the time it has nothing to do with that employee and everything to do with the kitchen so I wasn't upset yet) Several more cars pull up and get their food the server never comes back. Next thing you know i've been sitting there for 18 minutes past the time quoted for my curbside pick up another person comes out, I'm assuming the manager and says there was a mixup with your order in a really rude tone and offers me a coupon. Honestly the food was really good and even though I was in a hurry I probably wouldn't have even written this review if someone would have communicated with me that there was an issue instead of ignoring me. I thought this would be good since I was in a southern state and they are somewhat known for decent bbq but I was wrong. My friends and I got takeout here Sunday evening . I ordered the chicken meal, which comes with two sides, and a cornbread. I chose baked beans and mac n cheese for my sides. The chicken did not have any flavor, it was undercooked (still pink on the inside) and dry. The beans and the cornbread were good, and the mac n cheese was ok. On a positive note the staff is very friendly. I guess I had high expectations since the bbq place I frequent in CT never disappoints. Ive been driving by this place for awhile, so me and my GF finally tried it out. No regrets whatsoever. She ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and I got The Bomb (beef brisket with Mac n cheese patty), and the meat was cooked to perfection. Not dripping in grease like some other BBQ joints. The price is fair, $20-30 between two people, and the ambience is family friendly. Our server was very polite and made sure we had everything we needed. They even have a drive thru!!! Amazingly poor service and substandard food. Sonny's sent me a message (noted below) at 6:48 PM on Saturday (3/10/2018) night in response to our online order, indicating that our order was ready. My wife waited in the car with our two dogs while I went inside to "pick up" our order. I received our food order at 7:57 PM, more than an hour after having been told that it was ready. There was no apology, no offers of compensation, no excuses - you ruined our Saturday evening without even acknowledging that you were more than an hour late. To add insult to injury, the brisket was cold and flavorless, the beans were underdone and the ribs were substandard. Worse yet, there was a manager on duty but she didn't do a damned thing to rectify the situation for the large group of patrons waiting to pick up their orders. Dine-in customers arrived, ordered, ate and left while six or eight carry-out customers waited on their orders. My wife and I were planning a quiet evening at home - carry out, a bottle of wine and Netflix. Sonny's made sure that wasn't gonna happen. You blew it, badly. I would like a refund of the $40.00 that I wasted at your establishment. My wife, who is a professional chef by the way, would prefer not to return to Sonny's this millennium. This review is not intended for the staff at the Seminole location, it appears they too had to suffer through this horrible carryout experience. I placed an order online, and received a confirmation and 'order ready' email. my order pickup time was 6:45pm. By 7:25pm I was a little perturbed. Wouldn't it be nice to get a call or email saying, "we're sorry, we are running behind"? or a call? And i was not alone, some people had left and come back. Sonny's today was great! I'm stuck at home just like every body else due to Covid19 so I ordered from Ubereats. The delivery was fast and the food was very good. I'm very grateful that they were open and delivering on Labor Day. On July 4 they were not offering delivery, we had to order from Willie Jewels and it was no where as good as the sliced pork we had today. Sonny's Cooked to perfection and on site! Any time you are near the smell just pulls you in like an intoxicating BBQ dream. Your mouth salivates and next thing you know you are in the drive through. Trying to contain your excitement the air in your balloon is quickly drained as the voice over the intercom says $435 please pull around. What??? I'm exaggerating of course. But $16 for a lunch special lunch portion lunch price baby back ribs is beyond ridiculous. You pay it and move on thinking it will be worth it for some BBQ goodness. But the disappointment continues when you are reminded that the food is just meh. A 20 spot for meh for only one person and then it hits you...oh yeah that's why I haven't been here for so long. Sonny's isn't horrible tasting but it's not living up to the price. If this were a $6-10 joint the rating might level out a little. But for quantity, quality and taste sonny is over priced and in this foodies opinion there are better BBQ places around town. read more

We ate there two nights in a row on our vacation. The first night I had a full slab of ribs which were excellent. My wife had the pulled pork which was good. The salad bar is wonderful and not expensive. The next night I had lean brisket and my wife had the ribs. Both were excellent. Servers both night were terrific.
