I am eating at Applebees tonight. Not my first choice. We sat in a booth tonight at Sonnys and watched three tables get served, the one right next to us also got their second helping of ribs. Incluging us there were only people at 5 tables. No one came to our table. We sat there for 20 minutes before we left. Jessica H. BBQ is all about the sauces (IMHO), and we like Sonny's sauces best. This location has consistently great service, a good salad bar, and food that is consistently well prepared. Very seldom do we get anything badly cooked, but when it has been--they've replaced it without us even having to say a word. Our waitress brought our order of onion rings to our table, said, "Those look over cooked. I'll have them cook you some new ones," and so she did! The replacement batch was fried perfectly. We like that the food tastes the same each time we go--we know what to expect. We all love the pulled pork, their BBQ sauces, and onion rings with zesty sauce. The sweet tea is the best tea around! Couple the consistently good food with great service, and we give this Sonny's location five stars. Now, for the reviewer that said the customers are rude.. YEP, we've seen that at Sonny's too! So, if ya'll go to Sonny's--hang up the phone and enjoy your lunch.. No one wants to sit next to you and hear all about who broke up with who and why and who she's going out with now.. "Can ya believe it?" (Okay, well, maybe SOMEbody wants to hear it, but we don't and neither does David O.!!) ... That and the person you are dining with would probably appreciate you being there WITH them and not over in some cell phone conversation. My third time ordering carry out. Everytime my order is correct and always hot and delicious. Megan had my order ready in 10 minutes and I was in and out in less then 3 mins when picking it up. The macaroni and cheese is so good. Our favorites are the ribs and brisket. My husband loves this place so much he won't let me get BBQ from anywhere else. If you love great service and good food, this IS the place for you. If you are a barbecue snob, this is NOT the place for you. Amanda, our server was super friendly and couldn't be more wonderful. Everything tasted excellent. Meats were tender & juicy. Man n Cheese was saucy, coleslaw wasn't too vinegary, corn fritters were to die for. However, the meats and sauces were not smoky enough. I would rank Sonny's BBQ on the lower end of the spectrum as far as Atlanta BBQ is concerned. Their brisket was very dry--wouldn't surprise me if it was reheated. Their Mac 'n Cheese was lackluster. On the positive side their customer service was great, happy, and friendly. And their sweet tea wasn't bad either. I was visiting family in mobile alabama. It was a party of 7 people from Ohio, Michigan, Florida, and I came from Georgia. The total bill was $147. 23. We were highly disappointed with hard old chicken and brisket. The pulled pork was minced. The best thing was the baby back ribs.The green beans tasted like they came straight out of a can. My niece sent them back. They brought a second dish of green beans she didn't eat them. They were terrible.. I personally sent back the macaroni it was gummy, coleslaw it was dried out, the baked beans tasted like pork beans with a bunch of watery bbq sauce. My cousin sent her bake beans back. And requested okra . The okra was good. The French fries were cold and hard. The brisket was old bricks, the chicken drummettes were hard tough did not fall off the bones. The sweet potato was burnt. It was charred black and they brought it to us. The waitress was rude and everytime we called her she immediately told me she has other customers. I have never been so disappointed with a restaurant. I've never had a problem at the Whitney, Sinbad on River,Southern Fire. And silverware was dirty.. it was unfortunate that the waitress didn't know the restaurant had a Pitmaster. We went thru the drive thru and ordered three meals. It took three time of stating our order for the employee to get it straight what we wanted and what sides we wanted. When we pulled up to the window, we must have waited 10 minutes to receive our order. When we got home, none of the sides we requested were in the meal box, which they usually are, nor anywhere in the sack the items came in. To say the least, not a very good experience. Smallest Ribs I have ever seen. My wife and I each ordered a full rack of ribs with the idea of having leftovers for lunch. The plates came out and it looked like a large slice of bacon. I used to love their burgers and when cooked properly, they're delicious (because the sweet bbq sauce is good). I only like my meat well done, but whoever is on the grill can't cook. I called in a well done steak burger. Got there and it had cheese (I didn't ask for cheese nor was I asked if I wanted any), but was missing the pickles and lettuce that I did ask for. The burger was pink in the middle. Not a little pink, but rare. They cook another and it was well done, but burnt. How do you not know how to turn down the heat and slow cook meat so that it's well done and still juicy, not crispy? The manager returned my money and offered me something else, but I was late to a conference call because of them and the burger is all I ever eat there. They've lost a faithful customer. read more

I have loved this place for years now. Their food is consistently good. I haven't tried everything on the menu but what I have eaten is delicious. I usually go for the sliced beef plate with the sweet bbq sauce. Tried their Brunswick stew today for the first time and it was delicious as well. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they don't serve beef sausage links they only serve pork. That's the only item missing at this place. In my opinion anyway. Oh Sonny's what has become of you. Time has been cruel. I grew up eating at sonny's and either my taste have changed or Sonny's is slippin. I used to enjoy going and getting the sliced pork plate and a giant ass cup of sweet team. Isn't that the southern dream good q and some sweet tea. I know that's what I like when I go to a BBQ joint. This is not what I ordered when I went to Sonny's today. I usually order the same thing sliced pork fries and beans. Now I have not been to sonny's in close to 2 years because the closest Sonny's is now a bit further but we were in the area and just wanted a quick bite.Now one of the main reasons I enjoy Sonny's is because they are consistent from location to location. Kinda of the McDonald's of BBQ chains. Any way the meat seems to lack much flavor luckily the sauces are good. The beans have changed over the years and just taste like a burnt mush and the fries are either burnt to a crisp or mushy. Hey at least the salad bar is decent and the sweet tea is drinkable. Don't worry Sonny's I will be back in a year or two to see if you get your act together since we have a history. OH yeah I forgot to mention Sonny's people if you read this you need to raise your game Nascar on a 19 inch tube TV and piped in 80's country music just ain't cutting it. So i'm a long time customer at this location, love the food but i usually go through the drive well a young lady name Grace that takes the orders on the drive seems to be somewhat RUDE!! she is short with taking orders her tone is not the greatest no Customer Service, mind you i pretty much visit the same time which is every Friday so again she was rude and very short with taking my order, so previously i did not want to deal with her on the drive so i started to go inside to order and got great customer service. So i tried again on last Friday she was rude again, i get to the window i ask her do she like her job? she paused and said yes i then asked her why is she so short with the customers on the drive..paused NO ANSWER i ask did she understand what Customer Service means not really, while waiting for my food i called the store and spoke with (Ryan) and ask could i speak with a Manager he replied Stan was not in but would return the following day on Saturday, Ryan ask what it was in reference to i stated i prefer not to say and left my number with Ryan no call as of yet from the Manager Stan so i guess i will call Stan myself today....there is no reason to be rude for no reason i don't complaint i am that customer that if you do good i will call in to let the manager know that i received good service but if you do bad i will let the manager know that as well..so (GRACE) Thanks for nothing on you BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE you get 0000000000!!!!!! read more

It wad 845 and I new they closed at 9, so I went in to see if they would even serve us. Ms. Angela was welcoming, efficient and over the top amazing. I expect when it is closing time there is usually attitude but not here. She quickly sat us and served my family of 7. Being in the restaurant business myself I appreciate quality service. If I could rate you a 10 I would. We felt so welcomed I have her a hug when we left and because of her we will be back. read more

Portions were extremely small and food was bland, didn't even taste like actual meat, especially for the high price of the items on the menu. The whole experience was very disappointing, don't plan on visiting again.
