I stopped by Sonny's BBQ to pick up dinner and placed my order online for curbside pickup. I ordered a pulled pork dinner with mac and cheese and fries, along with a chopped brisket dinner with a sweet potato and their seasonal candied bacon mac and cheese. When I arrived, I clicked the check in link they sent via text to let them know I was there. After waiting more than 10 minutes with no one coming out, I eventually went inside to check on the order. The restaurant was not terribly busy, so I was unsure why curbside was not being fulfilled. When I went inside, my order was already sitting on the pickup shelf. I asked the associate if curbside was still being offered, and she confirmed that it was. I explained that I had checked in and had been waiting for over 10 minutes. She apologized, but there was no additional explanation. Because the food had been sitting on the shelf, some items were no longer hot by the time I got home. That was disappointing, especially since I specifically selected curbside for convenience. That said, the food itself was very good. The pulled pork was flavorful and tender. The chopped brisket was delicious and well seasoned. The seasonal candied bacon mac and cheese was rich and indulgent, with flavors that worked well together without being overwhelming. The portions were generous, making it a great value for the price. Overall, the food quality was strong, but the curbside process did not work as intended. With better execution on pickup, this would have been an excellent experience. Absolutely horrible food here anymore. Quality has been going down, but tonight was the last straw. Ribs were dry and tough. Okra was burnt to a crisp and soaking with grease. I get the baby back ribs because they are delicious and fall right off the bone for 19.99. My husband gets the dry rub St. Louis ribs and I think that one is 17.99. Some don't know this but if you get the baby back ribs you can get St. Louis ribs as a refill but if you start with St. Louis you cannot get the baby back because it's more expensive so keep that in mind if you wanna try both ribs! My daughter loves the Mac n cheese so I get that as one of my side in case she wants more, then I can just get mine refilled. #ParentHack. this is the fifth and final time Sonny's will over charge me for terrible food using drive through. this 2lbs of pull pork was way less than 2 lbs and was swimming in sauce. Family meal deal was $50 for 2 meats, 3 sides and corn bread. It came with original and sweet and Smokey BBQ sauce. It was a quick pick up and go meal for our family to explore Sonny's for the first time. Baked beans were very rich and the sauce was thick. The tater tots were soggy so that was a no for the kids. They did like the max and cheese and it does seem like Sonny's makes it their own and it's not out of the box like some other places. The pulled pork was a bit lacking in flavor so we used the BBQ sauce to add some excitement to that. The ribs were good. I don't know if we would go back here. We all ordered our drinks then she (waitress ) came with them then asked if we wanted anything to start off we all ordered house salad (all 4 of us out of group of 7) they came out when our entree came out then one person in our group didn't get there salad till after everyone had mostly finished there food. Then takes a hot plate (waitress) and places it in front of my autistic nephew. He went to reach for it and almost burnt himself. When his mother literally cleared space away from the child to have the plate placed down. Then the manager had the audacity to say that we should speak rudely when our child almost got burned. Since my last visit over a year ago, not much has changed, which should be considered a good thing. The staff has done a great job maintaining the recent renovation, and the service is still stellar. Shane, our server on Valentine's Day, provided for all of our needs and was just overall exceptional. Shane was friendly and even got us extra cornbread to go with our meal (Thank you, Shane!). Sonny's was running a $1-off the St. Louis Rib's meal (Normally $14.99). My wife and I both chose this meal; however, I decided on Dry Rub Ribs with Sweet Potato and mac-n-cheese, while Nancy chose the Sweet Ribs with coleslaw and baked beans. Both entrées came with Texas-style garlic toast. All of our food was delicious and fresh; however, my biggest complaint was that the Rib-skin was not removed from the underside of the Rib's when cooking. This has not happened on previous occasions, so I take this was an oversight on the prep cooks part; however, anyone who knows Rib's, knows that cooking Rib's without removing the Rib-skin is unacceptable. Although we didn't have a perfect experience at Sonny's this time around, we did enjoy the majority of our meal and 100% of the customer service. Sonny's has a dependable consistency that has served our community for many years, and hopefully, many more years to come. We look forward to returning soon for another delicious meal. The Sanford Sonny's BBQ remodeled their restaurant about a year ago and it looks very nice inside. Although I do think the added partitions between each booth was an afterthought because of Covid. My husband and I got the rib special, ribs with two sides cornbread & garlic bread for $14. I thought everything tasted wonderful but my husband pointed out that some of the skin was still left on the ribs on the bottom which should be removed, he was a chef for about 15 years so he sees things that I don't see. The beans were made to perfection the coleslaw is tasty and not too sweet. We had the iced tea which was mixed half and half half sweet half non-sweet and it was perfect. my husband had the sweet potato and the mac and cheese both were delicious. We chose Sonny's bbq since it was close to our hotel and walking distance. Great food and price for amazing BBQ definitely suggest the pork rolls as an appetizer! Food was fresh and server was very in tune to our needs and honestly made us feel better after a crappy day! I haven't been to Sonny's in FOREVER, so it was quite a surprise to walk in and see the entire interior redone. It's a lot more modern with an open floor plan. Our waitress was great and checked on us regularly. She was extremely polite even when we forgot to ask for extra boxes and to go cups. I got the chopped brisket on texas toast and upgraded to a big deal. For $2.50 more you can add a side kick and drink. Seeing a side kick and drink alone are $2.59 each it's a no brainer. I also added the salad bar for $3.99. I must say their salad bar is one of the best. You don't see diced ham on many salad bars and the macaroni salad is delicious. Two cons of the salad bar: First: How hard it is to reach the items. I thought I was going to strain something, lol. The gentleman in front of me also made a comment that they didn't think about tall people when they redid the salad bar, but I'm 5'5 and I still had issues. Second: The croutons. Tasteless/stale/forgettable The brisket was delicious as always, but not as much marbling as usual leaving some parts dry. You still can't beat their brisket on texas toast drizzled in sweet bbq sauce. Their fries are nothing special, but that's not new. I wasn't prepared for the kids chicken tenders to be so good. I had to taste taste a couple times just to make sure they had "cooled down". Everyone else enjoyed their meals. My BF got the steakhouse burger and once again I wasn't prepared how good it was going to be. It was charred on the outside and cooked a perfect medium rare on the inside. He also got the salad bar and enjoyed the seafood salad. Our friend got the pick of the pit combo and throughly enjoyed her meal as well. Overall, my only con is what I mentioned before about the salad bar. Everything is so hard to reach so condiments are being dropped into the other condiment bowls due to this issue. It'd be great if Sonny's was able to come up with a better system and change to new croutons. Bonus: If you're police, fire or military you are able to get a discount. read more

Hey Sonny's Heyyyy. Rarely, do I ever eat BBQ, but Sunday after church, the hubby drove us over here because HE was craving it. I haven't been to this location since they completely renovated it. It looks awesome! Trust me when I say, it looks sooo different that what it looked like before. Floors are clean, décor is nice, the open dining area looks very refreshing. For appetizers, we ordered the corn nuggets- small nuggets of friend, creamed corn, topped with an abundance of powdered sugar. What's there not to like? Their fried pickles were outstanding. They were NOT greasy and NOT overly salty. These were probably the best fried pickles I've ever had. Hands down. My littlest tried these for the first time and he is now hooked. My eldest son ate the dry rubbed wings (on the appetizer menu). The wings were a nice size and the seasoning was on point. I was impressed. We also ordered a kids burger for my other child who said it tasted pretty good. It doesn't come with lettuce, tomato, onions etc, so you have to ask for it. The hubs got pulled chicken on texas toast which he devoured in 2 seconds. I opted for the puled pork. It was tender, delicious and paired really well with their sweet bbq sauce. My sides were coleslaw and baked beans. This was my first bbq meal in quite awhile and Sonny's pulled through for me. I highly suggest visiting this location. read more

Why is it that Sonny's barbecue has their drive-through tendance they get $13-$14 per hour asking for tips before you get your food? It's on the receipt. Just in case you don't know in Florida waitresses make less money because they work for tips. Sonnys pays their drive-through workers more because they don't have the opportunity to earn tips. I don't like being pressured that I need to make a tip before I get my food. Wondering what's going to happen if they don't like my decision. I think it should be taken off. The receipt and tips can be offered on a voluntary basis. I don't mind the lower paid employees expecting a tip. Please fix this or I can go to Kellers barbecue where I don't get asked to tip. read more

My family placed a catering order for 40 people for a party. They ordered brisket, pulled pork, corn on the cob, garlic bread, rolls, chicken wings, mac & cheese, sweet potatoes, corn, and a few gallons of sweet iced tea. Utensils, plastic cups, sugar, sauce packets (sweet or smoky) and cinnamon and a butter spread for the potatoes were provided with the order. My niece and I came up to pick up the food and everything was packaged in aluminum tray and lids and labeled with the item name. When we brought the food home, everyone was surprised how much food there was. It was a lot! My husband raved about the brisket and wings. My favorites were the brisket, garlic bread, and mac & cheese. Everything was a hit, but the two least popular items were the sweet potatoes and the corn. There was a lot of leftovers for those two items. Highly recommend. If my husband and I lived in the area we would definitely frequent this establishment.
