So we live right down the road and my husband was hungry, so let's go to Sonny's. Now mind you I've been out in the heat all afternoon looking for a lost dog all I wanted was a sweet tea. Not really hungry!! My husband orders the all you can eat sliced pork and a salad bar. Salad bar because bread pudding is on it. Which you can't purchase separately. I normally eat 2 or 3 little cubes of it. I wasn't feeling that great from the heat. We were told that my husband couldn't order that because that's sharing. But he is paying 5.00 for the few little piece of bread pudding. Not good enough for the waitress or the manager. Sad because normally I eat ribs and a salad bar. I won't need to go back because using yelp I found BaQue's where my husband had a great meal. With friendly service. So disappointed that the manager says that the share policy was a company policy that is not written anywhere. Delicious ribs are a must at this place. Also they have a meat burger that has sausage and bacon and piles of meat on it, so good the fat kid inside of me is smiling just thinking about it. I sat at the take out window for 12 minutes with 2 cars in front of me that looked like they had been there awhile before me. I ordered a salad and drink. We had to beep the horn to get attention to the truck in front. Once I got tot the window I sat there for 2 minutes without bein acknowledged ny girl at window. First off I would like say the server we had who was Johanna the Ticket # 70091. She was very professional and courteous; she was very helpful and very attentive to our needs. The problem we had was with the Manager ROBERT. First off the bathroom was a mess, dirty and unsanitary. The floor had food and cockroaches or something crawling on the floor. We placed our order. Which were the baby back ribs & a ribeye steak. The first order came out fine, we asked for a second set of baby backs since they were all you can eat. It took the kitchen staff about 25 minutes to cook up less than 1/2 a rack of ribs. When they came out they were cold and at an UNSAFE temperature to be serving food. Once finished with that we promptly placed another order for some more ribs, 20 minutes later we got 3 ribs and they were colder than the first rack and I would almost bet they were the same ribs from that second 1/2 of a rack. Made me wonder why would they only bring 3 ribs and why would they be serving these ribs WAY UNDER TEMPATURE (WHICH IS UNSAFE). Having eaten at Sonnys in the past we want to take some desert to go. In the mean time we asked to speak with a manager who I caught peering around the corner and knew what was coming. He took his time making his way near us and when he got close he turned and walked away until I called out to him. I asked for a to go box and he said ok and walked away. I knew the waitress had already mentioned to him that we requested a to go box for the ribs. I did not know that it was story or company policy that we could not take the COLD ribs with us since it took so long for them to bring them out. Finally the manager came back and pretended that he just found out that we requested a to go box while having the all you can eat baby backs. I have eaten at numerous sonnys restaurants in the past and I have not had an issue when it came to the baby back ribs. After being told that we could not take the ribs since that was "POLICY" we cancelled the peach cobbler. So not only did we waste some ribs, the Store manager Robert did not have a problem wasting the peach cobbler as well and losing a customer as well. His non caring attitude toward customer service, lack of respect and unsanitary condition of his restaurant I am sure he has lost plenty of patrons and future patrons as well. Most people will let these problems slid and not give a review and this will go unnoticed. I for one am tired of some restaurants and managers who refuse to take action and make sure that customer service is number one. ALL PATRONS AND ANY OUT OF TOWNERS LOOKING FOR A BBQ JOINT.. STAY WAY FROM THIS ONE IN PARTICULAR. Save your money and take your patronage somewhere else. read more

No waiting and prompt service. During the snowbird season you may want to come only during slow times. Three of our party ordered the dry rub ribs . The ribs were very good. You can choose a bbq sauce from the selection on the table ,but we all enjoyed the dry ribs. Sonny's has the their formula down and this location does it very well. read more

Overall, everything was pretty good. Ordered a sampler platter of ribs, Pork, chicken, and brisket. All was tender and well cooked, but I prefer a bit more smoke flavor. I reluctantly returned because my wife wanted to go there. My only regret was I did not get our servers name. We sat behind the ordering station at the small table in the center dining room. It was about 3:30 last Saturday afternoon. The server was the best server ever! She promptly took and delivered the order, I had all u can eat sliced pork and she was there before I ran out each time. She made us feel like we were the only people there, the service was great. Servers do make a huge difference and she was fantastic at what she did. I have wrote 2 reviews about Sonny's before where I gave them 1 star for the service so I felt I should also review when its good. With so many people affected by the hurricane- I wanted to give a shout out to Sonny's. Tonight, we had the greatest experience we have ever had with Sonny's BBQ. As far as I'm concerned- everyone down there is wearing a halo. Thank you for being open and providing hot food to families who just needed to gather over a meal and regroup. We have two children and three elderly adults- and no power. You gave us sanctuary from the sticky heat outside and for that- we will always be grateful to you! Sonnys in Zephyrhills- even sent us home with a huge bag of ice when we told them we had no power. All day today - it's been hard on my children- and I have truly been beating myself up. Feeling like I should have prepared more or done more. When I made a second meal of peanut butter sandwiches- I felt so guilty. By dinner- watching my 8 year old eat green beans and tell me this was the best day ever- well, you gave me that. For a little while- we were able to concentrate on just being a family. We spent today with family, having a memorial for my great-grandfather who passed away in February. We actually came here and picked up a fruit and vegetable tray, along with some beans for the memorial. After the memorial, we set up our camp site and came back to Sonny's for dinner. We came in at a quarter after nine. A little late. However, we were greeted by our sweet waitress, Amanda. She was very busy, filling sauces and cleaning but she paid perfect attention to us. Drinks and appetizer came quick. Then she kept apologizing that our food took so long, it really didn't seem to take too long at all. HOWEVER, while my boyfriend and I were sitting and waiting, we overheard a waitress, her name tag said Melissa, talking to customers about other customers. She was talking negatively about how some woman was there for four hours for all you can eat ribs. Then she spoke badly about the lady stating it smelled she had showered herself with perfume and hairspray in the bathroom as well. She complained about low tips as well. With the way she was, I probably wouldn't have tipped her well, as well. I tipped our waitress 33% because she was wonderful and just so personable. I hope they do something about Melissa's negative attitude because I most likely won't be back. I don't want to hear employee drama while I'm trying to enjoy a meal. read more

Took some good pics; the new building is a hugh improvement. I drove over to order; customers place their orders at the bar then wait. There is seating & the food was ready quickly. The service was okay-- nothing exceptional, but not bad. The Sampler (sliced beef, ribs, brisket & chicken) w/ a side of coleslaw & bbq beans was satisfactory & plenty for two ($15.99). The brisket & chicken were excellent. The beef & ribs were much drier than what they should have been, & the corn muffin has SHRUNK. What's interesting is that it hasn't shrunk at my Gainesville Sonny's! Not sure why Zephyrhills' diners are getting the shaft, but I'm not surprised. Years ago my son's kids' meals were smaller here than what they were in Gainesville. (I emailed company headquarters back then, but was never granted a response.) On this visit, the building aesthetics & food would have received 4 stars if two of the four meats had not been dry. May try again when back in town; every restaurant has an off day. read more

I love Sonny's and finally talked my husband into going to a "corporate" bbq restaurant. The food was good but the service is why I gave a 1 star. We were seated at a table that was still wet (booth included) so we went ahead and dried it before we sat. We just thought we'd take it as a good sign they cleaned. After waiting for 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us we finally placed our order. I ordered fried okra and requested a side of ranch along with the Carolina pulled pork sandwich. My husband ordered the chicken finger platter with Mac n cheese with a side of ranch. 30 minutes after our order we finally get our food without the sides of ranch. We asked again for the ranch and as we waited we ate what we wouldn't dip. Well another 15 minutes go by and we had to ask another waitress to get ours. I asked for 2 boxes and the ranches for the side to go since we never received it! 10 more minutes later we get our boxes, finally the side only one side of ranch and to go drinks along with our check. We also wanted banana pudding but at that point we were just ready to leave!! During all of this at least 2 tables walked out because they weren't being taken care of and others were getting impatient as well. Thanks for making our experience horrible. To add to everything we were on our way home from my husbands grandfathers funeral. We just wanted some good service and comfort food. read more

We felt like the food was old and tasted funny, the coleslaw had a streak of barbecue sauce in it, they delivered our food to another table then when they found out it was wrong, brought it from their table to me, after they had touched it and gone through it, when I complained they said it was fine, I also brought up that our feast for 4 seemed small, like half was missing, they said it was fine. We have going to Sonny's since you put a store in Brandon,Fl. We love your food and think it is reasonably priced. Yesterday, August 7th, we called in a pick up, about 11 am. We had ordered the ribs, with the sides. We sat down to enjoy our food. Everything was great, except, the ribs. We were given the previous night's ribs. We could not eat them. This Sonny's overcharged me on my order in the amount of $10.00 which I did not realize until after leaving the restaurant. For 3 months I have been trying to get them to refund the overcharge. They acknowledged the overcharge and blamed it on a new employee not knowing what she was doing - poor training I surmise. They said it would be too difficult for them to simply refund the difference to my credit card. I have been promised gift cards and refund checks and have received neither. I finally disputed the transaction with my financial institution and they told me today that Sonny's was giving them the same run around they had given me for months. My financial institution has decided it was not worth any more of their time and refunded the money themselves taking the loss to show good customer service - something Sonny's could learn a lesson about. Based on this horrible experience, I will never patronize this eatery again! In my book, they are thieves. read more
