Really lovely food and service. The crispy bottom of rice on the dolsot, yummy. The Citron tea is lightly sweet, delicate depth of flavor. Worth ordering. I found this place on Yelp. I always read the negative reviews on highly rated places. The low rating reviews are just silly. Sadly it's always people who live out of town who probably would never trash their own local spot. Having spent time in the country and big cities, from small towns I don't expect the same low city prices, the exact flavors as my old haunts and the wide variety of options. I'm not sure why people trash places in smaller towns for this. If I had any advice, they should really reduce the clutter and fine tune the decorating. The place is really warm, cozy and welcoming despite this. However, needs the frog sculpture, duck and few other gems gone. read more

I had never heard of bibimbab but I always like to try new things. first they bring you several different appetizers, you point out the ones you like and they bring more of those. Then they bring you a big hot sizzling bowl with rice bean sprouts, beef strips spring greens and a few other ingredients with a cooked egg on top. It was delicious and enough for two people. Pricing was perfect, you get far more than you would expect to get (that's the fault of greedy corporate though...feeding people less for higher prices). Everything was a amazingly tasty, appetizers contained things I'd never experienced before, but I'm willing to try everything once...I would gladly eat everything obverse and over!!! We had menu option D11, which was veggies and thinly sliced beef strips (chicken and another meat were other options) cooked in an amazing juice sauce, served In the hot plate it was cooked in. I wish I had read the bad reviews before I went. The service was pretty good considering there was basically one guy handling all of the tables. My food took forever to come and I didn't realize the waiter got my order wrong until it got to the table. Although I got the wrong order the ribs were pretty good and the rice but the miso soup seemed to be missing dashi and it had no tofu or seaweed to speak of. It was basically light brown water. I hope that's not conjuring nasty images in your head but hmm. There's street parking for free. I had no trouble finding a spot. The prices were a bit on the pricey side especially for Korean food that lacks Korean flavor. I won't be returning. read more

The owner even comes to open the door for you on the way out of the restaurant. That's how polite the service is here. Very authentic Korean flavors. So often at Korean places the bulgogi is indistinguishable from the teriyaki served down the street. Not here. Lots of pickled veggies served with the dishes you order. The drinks are kind of spendy here. The food is reasonably priced, but don't begin to think that tea is included. They treat children well, but I don't think it's the kind of place to bring kids. It seems a little more intimate than that. Overall, I would happily bring a date or a spouse here, or even a group of adults. Decided to check this place out after hearing the food was on point with "LA Korean" food. Walking in you would think you were in an Italian restaurant with the soy sauce being in bottles labled "oil". I began to suspect that I had been lied to by other Yelp reviewers. With my hopes slowly being crushed, I ordered the seafood pancake for an appetizer and the kimchi dol sot bibimbap. After waiting for 40 minutes and noticing only four parties were in the restaurant, my suspicions were confirmed that I had made a mistake in choosing to eat here. Though the pancake was good (probably since I was starving after the wait), the kim chi, bibimbap, other sides, and miso soup were so bland I now believe that the food is catered to those who have never experinced Korean food and need it watered down. If you want great Korean food, you are going to have to travel elsewhere and I mean either Maru in Eugene or Korean owned Bonsai in Medford. I don't know why this plave has so many stars. 3.5 stars. Stopped by here while passing Medford and grabbed a bibimbap and some nigiri rolls to go. There was only one host/waiter there at ~8PM and it wasn't too busy. There were maybe 2 tables filled, but it took a while for our order to be taken, and then another long while to actually get our food. While we waited, we overheard that the sushi chef had moved to Oregon from San Francisco Bay Area, which was a cool fact. My nigiri pieces (salmon, hamachi, tuna, and something else I forget) had generous pieces of fish, and tasted fresh. However, the rice wasn't sticky enough and fell apart right as you tried to pick it up. Made it for a difficult time eating them in the car. Overall though, not bad at all and my hunger was satisfied. Be prepared to have time to wait for order to be taken and to be served. I would rate this place higher if they just placed a bit more urgency, especially for walk in to-go orders. read more

The food is very tasty and ingredients are all fresh, but being from Northern California and within close proximity to the Bay Area, it's not the Korean food I'm accustomed to. I wouldn't call it inauthentic by any means, but the owners definitely cater to an American crowd. I can't blame them - they know their audience. The japchae was a little saucier (for lack of a better word) than I prefer and the beef was slightly over cooked and tough. However, the flavor was great and the dish seemed to dry as the noodles cooled. The beef tofu soup (medium spicy) was flavorful, but not a flavor I'm used to for this particular dish. I imagine they just use chicken stock and add chili per serving based on individual orders because the chili kind of just floated at the top as opposed to being fully incorporated into the broth. Very little beef, but they were generous with the veggies. Restaurant (and bathroom!) are clean and I like the vibe. The food is great for what it is, but if you are expecting Korean food akin to that of SF or K-Town, you may want to wait until you get home lol. read more

My new fave! We went there for the first time for my birthday dinner and were pleasantly impressed. The owners were so friendly, the food and atmosphere were fabulous! We did family style and just shared different entrees. My favorite was the spicy pork bulogi and then next was the beef bimbimbop (not sure that was the name). We also had the tempura udon bowl which was also lovely. Then they brought out a big dish of this frozen pureed banana with candles for my birthday which was so yummy. Food was ok. Had better Korean fast food. Food took 45min to get, there was one other table there! I've never seen a server move so slow in my life! We thought he might be one of Sony's new robots? I had to ask for tempura sauce for my tempura app. Then my daughter asked for for a fork for her salad the white server looked shocked and confused. This place is amazing!! My husband and I always stop in Medford as a halfway point from San Francisco to Portland. Last year we stumbled across this place and we were pleasantly surprised. The food here is very authentic and the owns and staff a really nice and helpful. If you come here for dinner do order the Seafood Jeon (seafood Korean pancake) along with the house made kimchi, which is made fresh by the owners wife. The Mushroom Tofu soup and Beef Tofu soup are also must try's, washed down with a Bohae raspberry wine or Kirin beer. read more

Asian food options in Medford are pretty sparse so we were pretty excited that we found this newly opened place. We had a little difficulty finding the location because there is no sign outside and we're not familiar with the area, but we saw a Kirin sign in the window and figured that this had to be the place. We walked in and were greeted by the nicest person (we later found out he was the owner, Paul). He made us feel so comfortable and welcome. It kind of felt like he was welcoming us into his home to enjoy his cooking instead of just a restaurant. We ordered the Galbi and Tofu Soup which were both delicious. While we ate he did come to check on us frequently to see if we needed anything else and to chit chat in general. All the sides were great and between the two of us we managed to polish off a ton of food. I don't think we could help ourselves because it was so good. Definitely a wonderful dining experience and I will most definitely go back there the next time I'm in Medford. The only downside of the night was realizing that I lived over 200 miles away so I wouldn't be able to eat there as often as I'd like. read more

First off the restaurant has a great atmosphere to it, the decor was nice and they had Kpop in the background that wasn't to loud or quiet. The owner was a pleasant gentlemen that greeted us when we first came in and talked to us for a while. He even helped us when we asked how some of the food was normally eaten (This was the first time we have ever had Korean food). They were even polite enough to say good by and even opened the doors for us when we were leaving. Now on to one of the most important things about a restaurant, the food and drinks. I love tea so I just had to try the Citron tea and I'm glad I did. I have never had something so different but really good. Between the citrus, honey, and pine nuts I ended up finishing my first cup before my meal ended. Although I decided to refrain from writing the review then because I drank it to fast half way through and burnt my taste buds... OOPS. I can tell you that the Miso soup from that time was simple but wonderful. Easily the best i have had although I haven't had a lot of Miso soup. The second time I went with my family we had a seafood plater that we shared and i was surprised i didn't mind eating it (I'm not a seafood fan unless it is sushi). We also got a Hardy soup that everyone loved (sorry, I can't remember what it was called). The meat was perfectly seasoned and the vegetables weren't overcooked like most restaurants that serve soups and the soup stock was delicious. I also find it important to mention that they don't seem to cook anything before it it ordered like other places so everything tastes fresh. We even found out we liked the soup even more when it soaked in all the juices. I will happily go back anytime and I hope it stays around for a long time. read more

So this place is definitely one of those places that most will either love or dislike. The atmosphere the day my wife and I went was very calm and relaxing, probably because we were the only customers there! The lady who owns the place happened to be working there that evening (forgot her name). She was very talkative and attentive which made us feel special and comfortable. We decided to just sort of wing it and let the owner decide and suggest their best. I apologize but I can't remember exactly what all we ate that night was called other than the Korean bimibop and a seafood egg pancake which is similar to a quiche but thinner and skillet cooked. All together we had an amazing meal. You will be surprised at all the "2 bite" side dishes, sauces, pickles, etc. I bet we had at least 12 little tasting sides and they are included in the price. Now the reason for 4 stars, not 5. THE PRICE! This place is by far from cheap. I am actually a school trained chef and worked in many restaurants. I have full knowledge and experience with profit margins, pricing, cost analysis etc. This place is not cheap and even though the food is great and you get all the little "banchan" dishes it is expensive compared to other similar places in town. It would be best considered one of those "date night" or special occasion places unless your wealthy and the cost of a meal is less important than good food. You can expect to spend upwards of $65-85+ for two at dinner with a couple drinks. Again the service was great, the food was great, the atmosphere was great, it just is not a place you'd stop for a quick inexpensive bite on ones lunch break. I also should note one other small complaint. If you order delivery thru doordash or other services, this restaurant charges more than you'd pay in house. Also you do not receive as many of the banchan and other complimenting items. Also there are some of the items that are served in or on heated platters and Stone bowls that help cook the food at the table. Obviously you couldn't get that in delivery BUT they list them on the menu instead of editing for delivery. But all in all we had a great date night both times we have gone there. read more
