Atmosphere is relaxing and restaurant is beautifully decorated. The best veggie tempora I've had; light and not greasy. Steamed dumplings were so good. Food is cooked when it is ordered and comes out fresh. I ordered the bulgogi which came with jasmine rice (yum). The sides were kimchi, seaweed salad, broccoli salad and bean paste soup. The sides were small, however my husband and I had so much food we couldn't finish it all. I've loved Korean food for over 20 years, my first taste being in the central coast of CA. This place is AMAZING! Their food is absolutely delectable and FRESH, FRESH, FRESH. When they first opened their menu was much more authentic however the crowd was sparse with that menu. Everybody loves a good $10ish bento box and that's what they've converted their menu to. Because everything is made to order it takes a while to get your food...you'll need your full lunch hour but the wait is well worth it. Also, we noticed that it's like pulling teeth to get a drink. We tried to order sake but they couldn't even tell us the prices. Eventually they pulled $9 out of a hat. They don't offer you anything to drink other than water and it's hard getting a glass of wine and consistently pay the same price. I believe they've finally hired somebody who speaks English so I'm hoping that helps with the service issues. The food is well worth a trip!!! read more

This was a total (positive) surprise. We almost didn't go in because you can't discern the hidden gem that this place is from the street. But oh wow is it great. The owner greets you at the door (he was blasting opera music when we came in) and his wife is in the kitchen. They make everything from scratch - every sauce, every broth. It all tasted so fresh, nuanced, light and unique. We ordered the yellow curry chicken, homemade pot stickers, udon and best of all, the pork dolstot bimimbob served over crispy rice in a scalding hot cauldron. I was so excited to eat at a Korean restaurant when I move here until I actually ate here. My first clue that this was not authentic was the misspelling of bibimbop (spelled bibimbob). The second clue was the Chinese writing instead of Korean on the menu. The Chinese music and Chinese owners weren't screaming "Korean" either. Though the owners were super nice, the food was not true Korean. The KImchee wasn't cured long enough (probably only one day) and the food just didn't have the kick or flavor of authentic Korean food. The dishes did look very nice and did have good flavor, just not Korean. For anyone who has never had Korean food, it is acceptable. This 3 star rating is due to my last visit. Prior to this last visit, I'd give a 4+. I had eaten here several times during their lunch service, and was quite satisfied with food, service, prices. We tried them for dinner and was less impressed. Menus need replacing badly; dirty, worn-out, not a good first impression. Had "floaters" in 2 of the water glasses, asked for replacements, only to get another water with more "floaters", kinda gross. Was told the veggie curry was very mild, not too spicy. Had to send it back for being very spicy. Beef bulgogi was very good, but pretty expensive for what you get. Love the atmosphere, service, and overall feel of the place, just not this last time. I'll probably visit again, but at lunchtime. read more

There may be a few items on the menu but the hotpot veg dish arrived w an egg on top which I did not see indicated on the menu; and while it was edible, I would not recommend it for taste and certainly not for value. Honestly, this is the only place in the Rogue Valley that has never let us down! The service is excellent, it's owned and operated by a family that takes much pride in providing you fresh, authentic Korean cuisine. We usually order vegetarian options, and it's always so satisfying... steamed dumpling, veggie jeon, veggie yaki, all amazing. They often accompany the dishes with different veggie ferments that they have culturing at any given time... we always order a side of their kimchi that is excellent but then they'll surprise you with other cultured goodies that are always wonderful. Finally, good soul food in the Rogue Valley :) Soo Rah is our new favorite restaurant! The main dishes and side dishes remind me of well made home cooked meals I've had in Korea and they also have a fusion sushi bar. I love the interior and the atmosphere of the restaurant! In my view, this place is not Korean restaurant. Though dishes have shake of Korean dish but presentation, side dish, and flavor is not exactly like Korean. This place is far beyond typical price range of Korean dishes and side dishes are so rare. I was so shocked to see 5 sheets of laver ( in Korean) as side dish. Delicious Korean food, wide variety of choices. The owner's wife is the head chef, she makes it all "home style" and very authentic.

I work across the street and stop in for lunch and sometimes dinner. The restaurant space is one of the nicest in Southern Oregon, with a mezzanine and a second-story kitchen open to the dining room. The bar and furnishings are beautiful, and were designed for the previous restaurant, which closed. The owner, Paul, is almost always on hand and happy to make recommendations. He also sends complimentary appetizers, including kim chi, if the entree is delayed. If you like very good food in a beautiful environment, you've got to check out SooRah if you're in downtown Medford. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! We so enjoyed our dinner here. Paul was a kind and attentive host and server. The restaurant had a great ambience and was tastefully decorated. It was also very clean, which is important to me. On the menu for our dinner were the fried dumplings, the Bulgogi and Fried Rice. They were all so delicious. The dishes had lots of color and fresh vegetables. SooRah was such a great find that we will definitely return. read more

Nice atmosphere and service with reasonable prices. Authentic Korean menu requires some interpretation, if you are not familiar with it. Yum! Traveling through Medford from Seattle and sure wouldn't have expected to stumble upon a great Korean restaurant. The restaurant was in an attractive space in historic Medford. Nice variety of kimchi and soup complimentary with your meal. A couple craft beers on tap which is unusual for an Asian restaurant, at least in Seattle where they seem to always be limited to Sapporo and Singha. And the Korean bbq was delicious. We had the spicy pork and beef ribs and both were great. It was almost empty later on a weeknight so the couple that I presume owned the place served us and they were lovely. Our bibimbap was suppose to come with a miso soup but the kitchen forgot about it and busted the waiter's A** for the kitchen's mistake... This place is great. Everything is fresh, the service is good, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The fried rice has to be my favorite. It's not your typical fried rice with frozen veggies. It's flavorful you get a large portion for the price. The fried calamari is also really good and the pieces are large to the point they look like onion rings. This is the best Korean restaurant in the area! They have an excellent venue near the downtown. They inherited the interior from the previous tenants but have added tasteful Korean touches to the interior. My wife and I arrived at 7PM and the place was practically empty which made us slightly apprehensive, but never fear, it turned into a wonderful "date night." The service was impeccable both at the table and from the kitchen. The menu had all the usual Korean specialties. Various Bugogi, dumplings, soups, kalbi and my favorite bibimbop. I ordered it because I've tasted many versions. This dish is spicy melange of rice, noodles, veggies and meat cooked in a hot stoneware pot and topped with a fried egg I look to the overall taste, the crunch of rice on the bottom of the pot, and the especially the texture of the egg to judge the dish. This version is the best I've had. It was a bit more salad-like than other versions which provided an added treat to my taste buds. The crunch was delicious and the egg perfection. Cooked but without a charred edge and a wonderful runny yolk which bound all the flavors together when smushed into the pot. There were only 4 condiment side dishes but they fresh and nicely compatible. The price was on point with quality of the dining experience. My only caveat with the restaurant is an admission of my own inadequacy. The chopsticks were beautiful, made of metal and finely tapered. I'm pretty good with cheap rough wooden chopsticks, but I had trouble with these which kept slipping. Highly recommended! read more
