Sookdal did not meet my expectation at all. Expected higher quality compared to AYCE, however, as the meats are already cooked by a server prior to coming out, they were not as juicy and tender as I would have liked. Most of the sides were sweeter than needed which did not deliver authentic Korean side dishes. It was just average pork grilled by someone else and brought out to your table. So I came here by myself, I called ahead they had advised that if I dine alone I would have to pay a minimum of two persons and I was completely fine with that. When I got there I realized that it was 25 per person if you were eating alone so that is $50 for one person again I thought it was fine since I really wanted Korean BBQ. When my food came out I was very disappointed with the amount of food that came with it considering I was paying for two people. so I thought that I would have more than enough to satisfy me, unfortunately that was not at all the case. The meat alone was subpar at best, and the only difference I realized was that they add garlic to their sesame oil side. If you're willing to pay $50 for yourself for literally ONE serving of which they claim as "premium brisket" then go for it otherwise I would definitely not recommend coming here even with a greater group or even just yourself. Good food but it's really bad customers service I ever experienced. We came to the front door and asked for a table of 8 pax and a baby. The manager or receptionist who wore a grey shirt (I don't know his name) ACCEPTED us, but then when we came inside, they divided us into 2 totally different and separated tables. He told us to have a sit first and he will arrange for us later when we have all the parties came. And when everyone arrived, he still had us sat down in different tables and used the reason he didn't understand us and the restaurant didn't have a long table enough for us? So he shouldn't accept us from the first time. We saw some tables around us were checking out, and we whether we can have 2 separate tables but nearby each other, and it's a birthday occasion and then he still DID NOT agree to us and trying to ignore us and invited another parties inside. If youre a pork lover, this is the place for you!! They have amazing variety of different types of porks for you to choose from. Personally, my fav is the neck! Perfect amount of fat and meat. Sookdal is known for aged Korean pork belly and other such barbecue meats. If there's one thing I'd like to first say is that depending on who your server is and how you interact with them, it's probably more than half the experience. I went to Sookdal this afternoon with a friend of mine for the first time, just craving some pork belly. The place is pretty hole in the wall, and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the atmosphere inside is just perfect. It's equivalent to that of a sit down and eat bar restraunt with light music playing in the background, some of which was Korean swing which really blew my mind as a lot of Korean bbq restraunts like to play overly loud Kpop music, so it was a really nice change of pace. In terms of meat and side quality, hands down, a great and tasty place to eat for the prices. If you frequent a lot of KBBQ in the area, you can taste the aged difference and you really feel like you're paying for what you get, and despite it not being ACE, I feel if you're feeling a little boujee that day, it's 100% worth the money. The one highlight for me was the Korean mountain wrap they get straight from Korea that has a delectable, fermented taste to it, and really compliments the taste of the pork belly itself. One neat thing they do is give you a little sticker to tell you the age of the pork belly that day and a few bits of info you may want to know more about what you're eating. As for if it's worth the amount you're paying, you 100% will be satisfied with 2 people sharing the 55 dollar combo, but I also recommend an extra helping of pork belly if you're really going for that Korean soju drinking experience, haha! In terms of service, hands down, Kevin is the guy you want. This guy knows how to really be a server and have an engaging conversation that just wasn't about how my day was. We talked about not only the quality of the meat, knowing the differences between Korea and the food here in America, but also a bit of information and exchange of what places are great to eat at and what he'd really recommend when or whenever you'd ever want to go to Korea. It's customer service you typically never get in California unless you really make the effort, but Kevin made my first experience as smooth as dijon butter, least as smooth as that can get. Hands down, highly recommend you ask for Kevin when it is your first time there, although I can't guarantee that you can really pick and choose your servers, as I'm sure everyone there can reflect the quality of service he provided! Overall, hands down, the best pork belly premium restaurant in the area you can go to. I don't have many reviews on my account, but this is one of the first places that made me want to go out of my way to leave a review. Not an AYCE kbbq place so look else where if you want AYCE. This place does have a bit higher quality meat than the normal AYCE. Their prefix combos is enough to feed about 3-4 people. Nice thing is that you do not have to cook it yourself. I think this place is a solid 3.5 stars to 4 stars. Not as good as quarters. For kbbq standards the price is average. read more

The restaurant was only 1/3 occupied with plenty of seating. But the host said no tables were available and we needed to wait ... not sure why, seemed pretty empty to me.
