Absolutely the best Italian food I have had in the U.S. this place is a small hole in the wall restaurant that is surprisingly amazing. The food is outstanding and the servers are always attentive. You can tell that the chef loves what he does and puts it into his work. My absolute favorite dish is their lasagna. The sauce and meat just marry together so well. read more

This restaurant opened about 2 weeks ago. The food was good 2 out of the 3 times I've eaten there. The staff was attentive and very nice during all visits but we encountered the owner on all visits. He was not friendly at all even though we were the only ones in the restaurant the 3rd time. You would think he'd be happy and appreciative toward customers since he's trying to establish a repeat customer base. So, after seeing the reviews, we tried this place out. It was a bit of a disappointment, even though the portions were really quite generous. One of our party simply requested a side of vegetables instead of pasta with her eggplant parm. No way was the chef going to do this because if he ran out of vegetables, he wouldn't be able to sell the (tuna) special! Generally I would give a restaurant a second chance if an entree was over cooked, but the waitstaff never asked how I wanted the tuna cooked. Not bad. Not great. The decor and ambiance is nice, and it seems like a good place to sit down and have a nice meal but the food was average. I have so far tried the spaghetti and chicken parm. Main course has been a mess each time, but the desserts and appetizers were not bad. Pricing is about what you'd expect for italian in the area. Biggest disappointment. Food was AWFUL! Steak has no favor. Glazed carrots were more like drowned carrots in a nasty sauce. I ordered take out from Soprano's tonight and I wasn't disappointed with my first experience with this place. I ordered the fried calamari appetizer and the Vito's Pick combo with chicken parm, eggplant rollatini, and fettuccine alfredo. The calamari were nicely breaded and fried perfectly, although something, maybe the breading, was a little on the salty side. The marinara dipping sauce did help to cut the saltiness though. All in all, I definitely enjoyed my appetizer choice. Since this was my first time trying Soprano's, I had a hard time deciding what to get so I went with the combo. I would highly recommend any or all of the 3 items I chose in the combo. The eggplant rollatini was amazing and so was the chicken parm. I enjoyed the alfredo but the sauce wasn't quite as garlicy or cheesy as I would have liked but it was still very good. Another reviewer mentioned portion size and they were right! The portions are very generous. I had plenty of leftovers for another meal or two. All in all, I was very happy with my dinner choice. It's great to have a good Italian joint in the neighborhood. So we tried take-out tonight with Sopranos Grill. Unfortunately for them, it was very slow when I picked up the order around 7:15pm. I remember well the slow times in the restaurant business and it can be miserable. The place is small, but nice, and the two gentlemen working were very pleasant and personable. I would dine in here, but we mostly enjoy take-out and eat at home. Better half got the Cheese Steak sandwich and a side salad. The meat was very tender, the bread good, and he thought it was all-in-all a great sandwich. I took a bite and agreed. The side salad was very fresh with mixed greens, cucumbers, pretty tomato slices, carrot matchsticks, and thinly sliced red onions (maybe some shredded cheese-can't remember). The best side salad I've seen thus far from any restaurant. I ordered the combo dish with lasagna, eggplant rollatini, and stuffed shells. I loved being able to try three different dishes at one time. The lasagna was good enough that I'd order it again (and I make pretty good homemade lasagna myself), the stuffed shells were tasty and had a liberal amount of ricotta, but the eggplant rollatini was my favorite. I love eggplant and I thought this was excellent. I'll definitely order that again. I think the pasta dishes are supposed to come with French bread but that wasn't included in our order so I can't comment on that aspect. Overall, this was a really good meal. Portions are generous as we both will get two meals from each order. Prices are very reasonable. I am now anxious to try their veal dishes, marsala and piccata in particular. How does this place have more than 2 stars???I went to this place before any Yelp reviews, about 3 months ago, and paid for it dearly. The wait staff was polite but became much too comfortable with my friendly demeanor. They became a bit unprofessional and had left me unattended for quite a bit. I reduce no stars based on staff, solely the food....which was horrible. It was not fresh, had no taste (other than the "homemade" Ragu sauce), and was improperly cooked. Epic fail! As a side note, I confess to using Yelp a ton and this is my first restaurant review. It drove me crazy to see good reviews that are NOT deserved as of this time. read more

We were looking to try some place new for Italian for lunch, upon reviews came here at @2. Place was empty. Not so shocking given the time. Waitress/hostess was on her phone and didn't notice us standing there for 5 minutes. Ordered rice balls for app which were lacking flavor. Then ordered chicken Francese and piccata. They were both loaded with garlic and drowning in their sauce. The Francese had no flavor other then being soaked in butter and the piccata was all garlic, drowning and tons of parsley made the dish look like pesto. Asked for fresh black pepper and the waitress handed us a container of black pepper corns. Brought dishes home to try and doctor it myself and used a whole lemon and added salt pepper and tons of cheese for flavor. The piccata is going in the trash. Family restaurant like going to grandmas for Sunday dinner. Giant portion of great food that appears in front of you almost as soon as you order it. Yes, really family we asked, 'mama' runs back and forth making sure everyone has everything they could possibly need and making sure everyone is feels welcome. 'Son' the smile when you walk through the front door, greeting you like you're an old school friend. And though we have never met we know that 'dad' is in the back making sure that every plate goes out is up to his standards. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Since we moved to Clayton this has become our go to restaurant. They have the most amazing house made marinade I always ask for extra with my entree. Everything we have ordered has been delicious, our daughter really loves the fettuccine Alfredo. I always get the pasta dishes but ventured to a Stromboli and it was just as amazing. A few months ago I was itching to find a new place to eat and this italian restaraunt seemed like a good candidate. Since this was a new place for me, I decided to go with something low-risk, pizza. After a fairly normal wait time, I see a "margherita" pizza that is just large beefsteak tomato slices on top of cheese and a rather boring looking pepperoni one. The taste and texture was the real surprise. The crust was like a very tough, leathery cardboard and the toppings didn't really help. Nothing else about it was memorable either. I have visited this restaurant several times and NOT been disappointed. I love the lasagna and it is SO authentic. It is family owned and operated and both the wife and son are very good at making you feel comfortable and checking on you regularly. I cannot speak to the desserts as we have all been too full to try them but the ones I have seen coming out of the kitchen look out of this world.
