Super cute spot with great photo ops. We had a reservation but we're sat at the sushi bar which was a bit of a disappointment for us. The ticket time for sushi was about 35 minutes and they were out of the rolls we wanted to try. I got the fried chicken sandwich which I wouldn't order again however the fries were delicious! Our server was very nice and prompt. He was transparent about the wait times for sushi and apologized when they ran out of glasses for my drink. Came to Sora to celebrate Valentine's Day and it was a great choice! It's famous for its fake flower decor but my boyfriend and I were seated in a separate dining room with umbrellas on the ceiling instead which was a bit of a letdown. However our experience was otherwise wonderful! Our server was very sweet and attentive. The drinks are DELICIOUS and strong too. I got the Cheers to Us which was tasted like sparkling strawberry juice but hit pretty hard. The food was great as well. It's on the pricier side but you get what you pay for. The sashimi is thick, fatty, and fresh. I would definitely recommend getting the Sora Box (their signature) because it's a great deal. If you're dining with two people, the box and a couple other rolls is plenty of food. Lastly, we decided to take a risk and get the Ube crème brûlée (it had no reviews on Yelp so I was a bit hesitant). It was delicious! I love Ube and they made it the star of that dish. It was an extremely busy evening at the Flats. I found out that evening that a tech conference called "Futureland" was happening in Cleveland so that's why Sora and the combining hotel were packed with people. AMBIANCE -- 可愛い. Super cute spot. All of us ladies came in the evening around 7:30pm and another friend arrived after 8pm. Inside was dim but not too dark. The entrance was inviting and bright by the Sora sign with the flowers. There are also some flowers on the ceiling in the center of the restaurant. We were seated at the back private room area. FOOD -- I don't eat traditional sushi or anything RAW so I was happy to see that they have many cooked food options. I think I ordered the Shrimp Tempura ($12) which comes with shrimp and cucumber and the Shrimp California ($12) which is shrimp, cucumber, and avocado. There were 6 pieces of sushi on the dish. Both sets of what I ordered were fantastic because of the flavour. Please just take a look at all the menu photos that I posted because I visited 3 months ago and I can't fully explain what we all ate. I also tried alot of what my friends ordered which I can't remember what they ordered (my apologies) but everything tasted outstanding. One of my friends ordered the Edamame appetizer $5 (edamame and maldon salt) and that was delicious. They sell steam buns, chicken wings, salads, fried rice and curry bowls, and plenty of other non-sushi options. There are gluten free options available as well DRINKS -- I don't drink alcohol (except for the occasional white wine) so I can't comment on them but per their menu, they have sake, beer, wine, and cocktails. PRICES -- Fair and reasonable for Sushi. Take a look at the menu photos that I posted. Sushi is a great way to split the bill with your friends because you can easily share food. SERVICE -- Outstanding. The waiter was so nice and friendly. I asked her alot of questions and I learnt alot about the restaurant's beginnings. PARKING/LOCATION -- The restaurant is located at the Flats East Bank right on the river so parking isn't the best. If you're like me, you may be slightly annoyed driving downtown to find parking (LOL). I drove around for about 12 minutes until I found a free parking spot on the street next to the Ernst & Young building. You may want to just pay the $10 to park which is found at a parking lot right by the restaurant. As I get older now, I realise that paying for parking is just more convenient instead of trying to be cheap but to each their own. There isn't a problem looking for free parking but it may take you a while especially down at the Flats East Bank. I can't wait to come back. It's not that large inside so try to arrive early. It is definitely a cute date night spot for couples but a lovely spot for friends too. I highly recommend Sora for dinner. Sora came up on our search as we were driving back to Cleveland, as one of the only options open late on a Sunday night. My friend also mentioned she's been wanting to come here since the restaurant was cutely decorated. Definitely a visual trap. Service was extremely slow. They were overstaffed with front of the house staff and chefs and somehow it took forever to put in our order and even longer to get our food. They h-anger was real. Not to mention we were one of the few people dining so there was absolutely no reason it needed to be so slow. It was annoying watching how inefficient their staff worked as we waited to order and waited to eat. From the small rolls we had the: Nega Hama ($11), Nega Toro ($11), Sake ($9), and Hotate ($12). These came with only one filing, with 6 pieces per order. I also wanted the Uni ($16) but they ran out so we had substituted it for something else. From the Inside-Out section we ordered the Una-Kyu ($12) which had eel, cucumber, ohba, and sweet soy. And lastly from the specialty roll we had their Hanahama ($23) which had negi hama, cucumber, avocado, hamachi, jalapeno, yuzu mayo and micro cilantro. There was so soy sauce on the table, and this wasn't the fancy sushi where they presauce your stuff. While endlessly waiting I had to ask two separate wait staff for low sodium soy sauce. The first told me it comes out with the food... which it didn't. The second brought us ... full sodium soy sauce. I can taste it. It burned my lips. Honestly if they didn't have low sodium they could have just let me know. Anyways back to the food, I think I ordered a decent amount to say I tried a good amount of what they had to offer. It was at best mediocre. Which doesn't surprise me being in Cleveland, but I expected better service with so much staff around. I would have given the restaurant a rounded Cleveland 4 star if the service was better but it was so slow and lacking. This is a Cleveland 3 star, and an OC/LA 2 star or below. Sora is an absolutely beautiful restaurant that has been on my radar since it opened. I hadn't visited, despite the beautiful decor, because the prices seemed rather high for sushi. I finally bit the bullet and decided to visit during restaurant week with a friend. The restaurant week menu had the option of the Taiwanese Karaage, salmon Crudo, or crispy avocado rice. They all sounded delicious, but my friend and I decided to get the karaage and the salmon Crudo. The portion size of the karaage wise not skimpy, and I really enjoyed the Japanese style thousand Island dressing that came with it. The salmon was very fresh, and I'm glad we decided to get this, since it ended up being the only bit of raw fish that we had. The sauce, which was a light ponzu and ginger type thing, was delicious. For our mains, we got one roll of the suki roll Ebisu, and the lechon Asada per the recommendation of our server. The Ebisu role was solid, and definitely very pretty with the pink paper, though I will say that it felt plain otherwise, given that the only meat was from the tempura. I would've appreciated more raw fish, and more fillings, especially since there were only 6 pieces included. The Lechon was disappointing: the fried plantains were bland and chalky, and the meat itself, while tender, was very underseasoned. The sauce is doing its best to carry, but it really just didn't scratch the itch. I ended up pouring some of the sushi soy sauce onto the meat, and that tasted pretty good. Dessert was absolutely delicious. It consist of three little chocolate type desserts, and the melt and seesaw definitely added a great flavor contrast. I really enjoyed the passion fruit with the little cocoa balls to mimic the seeds, though I do wish that they were more of the passion fruit flavor on the plate to contrast with the richness of the chocolate. Overall, our service was excellent: our waitress was very attentive throughout our visit, and the food came out quickly. At the restaurant week price point of $36 per person, it definitely felt worth it. However, looking at their regular menu pricing, I don't feel like the sushi roll was worth $19, and I would be hesitant to come back if I were paying full price. The appetizers were definitely the star of the show, and I would love to see sora do a happy hour with appetizers and their cocktails. We did a walk in here and got seated by the bar. The decor is cute and works perfectly with their fusion Asian theme with cherry blossoms all around. They have a cute 'Gram corner with a wall covered with cherry blossoms and their logo for you to click pics at. We ordered ourselves a drink each - the husband got a Sapporo while I ordered a Lychee Revival cocktail - it was yumm!! Sora is sheek restaurant located off W 10th street in the Aloft Hotel. It's near Punch Bowl Social and many other bars/lounges. This was my 1st time here and I was pretty impressed. The menu is simple & offers mouth watering items plated elegantly and bursting with flavor. I had the Ribs and Fries with a Redbull Goose, and my cousin had sushi with Jameson chilled. The menu options are pretty eclectic, and they even offer a Wagyu steak to give an idea. Service was A1 and the music selection was GREAT. This was also my 1st time in Downtown Cleveland and I found the place so underrated and primed for development. My friend and I have been wanting to check-out Sora sushi since their sushi box days! Parking in the Flats sucks, so make sure to give yourself enough time to find parking and getting to the restaurant! We finally made it in on a Saturday night and was welcomed with beautiful sakura/cherry blossom decor. The restaurant was semi-dark which added to the ambiance. We were welcomed with complimentary edamame and started off with the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. This was delicious and had a perfect amount of tuna to rice ratio! I also ordered the Lychee Martini. The drink tasted like lychee, but was really sweet and could barely taste the alcohol. My friend and I split 3 rolls. We ordered the Sora Specialty Sushi which was our favorite out of the three. The texture combination between the firm prawn and wagyu was soo good. Hanahama was our next favorite and this specialty roll tasted so fresh. The spider roll was our least favorite out of the 3. It wasn't very flavorful and I've honestly had better spider rolls elsewhere. Before we ordered dessert, the waitress gave us oranges and told us it was a palate cleanser! For dessert, we ordered the Matcha Crème Brulee. This was topped with fresh whipped cream, strawberries and puffed rice. Honestly, save room for dessert because this is so so worth it! We're back at Sora! This time for my friends birthday! There was a group of 10 of us and we had an 8:45 reservation. We were seated around 9:15 (our fault lol) but the staff were very accommodating to us. Our waiter on the other hand, did not seem to be as accommodating. I'm guessing since it was towards the end of the night he may have been tired or annoyed, but we definitely could feel that energy. (The waiter is the only reason I knocked off one star). Our waiter then brought out all the sushi on one platter. As he was putting the platter down, he dropped one roll all over the table. That happened to be my roll. He then would quickly come back to the table and pick up empty glasses and plates but would then leave before we could ask for anything. He eventually came back and started asking about checks. Pop-up sushi ghost kitchen specializing in Instagram-able bento boxes. Tasty? Sure. But worth the price and effort to pickup? Debatable. Ordering is easy online via Toast or other food delivery apps like GrubHub, and you get to schedule a pick-up time for your order. Sora is located right next to the Aloft hotel and there's only a valet lane for the hotel - so you'll have to hover along the curb until they bring your order out. Prices are a little above average with a limited menu currently being offered. Their signature dish is the Crispy Rice, available with Spicy Tuna or Truffle Avocado. The $45 bento box is the best bang for your buck since you'll get a sampling of the otherwise $16 Crispy Rice and an assortment of other rolls, nigiri, and edamame. The custom cardboard box explains what each item is and comes with chopsticks as well. Sora recommends consuming your sushi within an hour or refrigerating ASAP. The fish was good quality - but freshness was definitely struggling by the time I got home to eat it. Crispy Rice was definitely the star of the box, super crispy and chewy like mochi, but probably would have been even better right out of the kitchen. The box is just enough food for two people since all the rice in the Crispy Rice and edamame are quite filling, or one person with a large capacity for sushi. Personally, not a fan of this concept as I felt like I overpaid for what should have been a nice higher end sushi experience, but ended up as a lukewarm belly-stuffing.
