My friends and I were here on a Friday night, and it was very quiet. Service was quick and friendly, and the sushi was pretty decent and reasonably priced. Their spicy edamame is a lovely appetizer. The dining room and restrooms were clean and uncrowded. Ninja Sushi is one of our frequent stops since it is close to us and usually not crowded. They do seem to do a lot of take-out orders, so that keeps them busy on the kitchen side. It's not fancy, but it's good. It started as our favorite place to eat at when we want to go out for a celebration. They were great at the beginning but has decline over the years in customer service and food portion. That said, not all waiters/waitresses are lacking customer service skills, you have 1 out of 3 that would do their normal job while the others are poor at it. The food portion went down less than half of what they used to give us. And don't get me started on the salmon size portion, what a joke. I recalled ordering the salmon dish for lunch and sometimes dinner in the past, it was a decent size and one day they decided to give half of that, then half of that. Despite that, we have decided to maybe go there only once a year instead of a few times a year until my relative told me what happened with her and her co worker's experience there. I first want to point out that the staff here was very amiable, which was refreshing having just come from a failed reservation at another restaurant. This restaurant wasn't that busy in-house (7pm on a Saturday) so we were sat immediately. Since we couldn't decide on what to get, we ended up just ordering the biggest sushi boat they had on the menu. It took a little longer than our server quoted us, but we had some misos (lacked some stock/miso paste) and sake while we waited. I have to admit that the extra time the sushi chef put into it was noticeable. The fish was organized neatly in the boat, and all the different items were easy to navigate between. Decent quality fish and good assortment, but I wish there were more pieces of some of the sushi (makes it hard to split evenly when there are 5+ people sharing. Aside from the miso, what kept this from being a 5-star review for me is how long it took for the kitchen item that was part of the boat to come out. We were in a little of a hurry so we ate the boat quickly, but the teriyaki didn't come out until 10 minutes after we were already done with the boat. We ended up taking it to-go. In short, I would still come back here, and hopefully I'll have more time to enjoy it. read more

Definitely a 1-1.5/5 star spot. Came in here thinking I'd have at least a decent 3-3.5 star experience but no. It's really hot outside ,100+ degrees, and they didn't have their a/c on until we finished majority of our food. I found a piece of saran wrap IN the sushi because I know they use saran wrap to help shape it. They need to add more lighting to their sushi-making area so they can actually see it before serving it to their customers. They completely missed it, obviously because they added everything else (masago, sauce, etc.) on top of the saran wrap. I also think the quality of their sushi is questionable and also the rolls fall apart very easily. I know things happen. I really do. But what really set me off from this experience is that the chef KNEW about the plastic being inside the sushi because we saw the waitress informing him and they did not apologize or even acknowledge it. A partial refund would've but nice too but I honestly just wanted them to at least acknowledge and apologize but no, the chef just said bye and pretended like he didn't just serve us sushi with plastic inside that we could've ingested since it's hard to spot due to it being clear and also being coated with sauce. Worked a 10 hour overtime shift and had to treat myself to the best sushi in Sacramento! Their fish is amazing and fresh! The flavors of all the rolls I had made my palette smile! I ordered the Golden Scallop roll and it did not disappoint. The tuna was bright in color, the crabmeat is always delish and the grilled scallop on top with the special sauce and green onions just make that roll pop! Second roll was the 5 Star. It was impeccable! Comes with albacore, tuna, salmon, white fish and deep fried shrimp is an amazing combination so it was incredibly scrumptious! Last roll was the Ninja King Roll...so yum!!! Stopped by here on a Wednesday night and it wasn't very busy. When you first walk on there is a Kiki's inside now and you can order at the kiosk. If you turn and walk then you can sit down for the sushi restaurant. It was cute inside and clean. We order two rolls and the bento box. I've eaten there twice since then, and both times, the sushi tasted extra fishy and warm, like it had not been stored/refrigerated properly. Very not fresh. I will not go back. The first time I came here was last week for a togo order since I go to school next door. I ordered the sesame chicken plate and it was delicious! The portions were small, but it was good. I gave them another try today for a Togo order again. And this was my sesame chicken. The sauce was soooo salty. It just tasted like soy sauce? It was not like this the first time I came. Its been a while since I showed Ninja some love. I have been coming here for years and never disappointed. 2020 and the pandemic sure made things hard on everyone but Julian was focused on remaining a staple for the area and remained open even when times were at their worst. I had multiple conversations with Julian (Owner) and he made it very clear he should have closed months ago, but felt he had an obligation to those who kept him open all of these years to fight on, and I respect that so much. Things are turning the corner, we are opening back up and I cant wait to see Julians dedication get rewarded with a packed house and the Ninja Party back in full swing. Aside from that, Ive seen the reviewers mention food quality and staff quality, All I ask is that you give it time and give them another chance, everyone has been hit hard by these times and there will be a curve to get back to their level of greatness. ive never had less than a 5 star experience here. read more

I've made 57 Yelp reviews and well over 50 of them have been 4-5 stars. If a place is bad I will usually just not review it. This is a special case. I called 3x to place a togo order. I got no answer. I knew they we're open however because I drive by here on my way home literally every day and have even gone several times over the years. Yelp reports a closing time of 9:30. Their website says 9pm. I got there at 8:34 and they we're open but refused to serve me. I asked if they could at least make me a togo order. They said no. He claimed that they we're "changing owners" as if that was a good reason to not serve me 26 minutes before closing. Hope they get things worked out because they are the only Sushi place in this area that I know of. read more

We came about 1:30pm on a weekend - it was dead. A few parties came in while we were there and it got busier. The sushi came out pretty quickly. But those who ordered hot food - bento boxes and the udon - those took a little while to come out. I got the Ninja sashimi plate. And I tried some of the hubby's volcano and moon rolls. My sashimi plate was fresh - I think it came with 4 slices each of salmon, tuna and Hamachi. The rolls came with 8 pieces and were good. The bento boxes look good - came with salad, rice and two things from a list like chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki or like California rolls. The udon looked like it was a pretty big portion too. When they brought out the check - they undercharged us and so good karma - we mentioned it to them and they charged us the additional costs. read more

Rolls are buy 2 get 1 free *to go orders only. It's a hit or miss with the rolls. We ordered 4 rolls - Dragon, Moon Special, Mountain and Brand's. The Dragon and Mountain rolls were the best out of the 4 rolls. They were both filled with toppings and great quality fish. I was bummed the Moon Special roll didn't taste like shrimp or tuna at all, it tasted mainly of rice and avocado but it was better with soy sauce and wasabi. I placed an order over the phone and the lady was pretty friendly. The order took about 25 mins and was ready upon pick up. Well I love the food here but the owner can be pretty rude and that depends on the day. I have visited this place and had a great experience. I have also been to this place and he is yelling at his staff. He has been rude to customers waiting for food and has even told them if they didn't like it they could leave. All because they asked hire much longer. A friend of mine once asked for extra ginger and he literally said in a rude "next time I'm gonna have to charge you, I need to make money". Tuesday, 6/23/2020 - drove by Ninja Sushi for 10 years now and have always wanted to stop by to try it. Finally tonight I was able to try them. This is what happens when COVID19 happens and restrictions apply. Working from home, I no longer have to beat traffic and get home late. So am able to try it tonight. Upon arrival, there's plenty of parking, restaurant is clean, it's quiet for tonight, plenty of seating, bathroom clean, cute little set up. Pros: 1) restaurant is clean. 2) tables, plates and cups clean. 3) women's bathroom clean; has 2 stalls, 1 sink. 4) waitress was nice. She checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. 5) they have a buy 2 rolls, get the 3rd free Monday to Saturday evenings. 6) after we're done eating, we got our tab right away and the waitress took it and brought back my card right away. 7) restaurant was quiet. 8) tiger roll and the salmon scallop roll was good. For me, the scallop was a little slimy. I had a hard time eating that one. 9) I asked for a zigzag. It's not on the menu. They made it for me. A Zigzag roll is $17.95. 10) plenty of foods to choose from the menu. Cons: 1) it's really hard to find someone who can make a zigzag right and good. I am happy they made it per my request. But it was tooooo mushy. Not very good. You couldn't even taste the crunchy in it. Besides that, there is no other cons to the restaurant. This is a cute little restaurant.
