Just passing through Newport and used Yelp to identify Sorella as a well represented Restuarant on the Yelp site. Well, turns out Sorella opened for dine-in during COVID-19 on the day we elected to dine there. Understandably, the menu was a bit lacking in choices, but still offered many of their normal menu staples. The wife and I were quite impressed with the service and the wonderful salads and entrees brought to our table. Don't pass by Sorella without stopping for a wonderful dinning experience. read more

Delicious, welcoming and family friendly. We ordered the pepperoni alla sorella, ceasar salad and casarecce alla bolognese. Generous porportions. The only drawback was the gelato was more like a sorbet than a true gelato. read more

We went in for the Sunday Supper special and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and the service. We ordered the Arugula Salad, and Margherita pizza. Both were excellent! Oh, and don't forget to order the gelato, so good! As for service, the waitress was super friendly, attentive, and the food was served promptly. So good! The food was fantastic - the beet and goat cheese salad was absolutely delicious, as were the brussels sprouts and mushroom risotto. Others at my table had the lamb ravioli, baked rigatoni, and the agnolotti - everyone raved about them. Kids loved the pizza. The atmosphere is great, and the staff was wonderful. They have a kids area with toy kitchens and toys to keep them busy while you wait for the food to arrive. Absolutely loved it, and would highly recommend this restaurant!!! read more

The food was good. The service was friendly and pristine.. The location was great and the interior and amenities were a little stark for a mid-pricerange restaurant. I had the pasta with prosciutto. I expected it to be a little more creamy. And it was a little too cool. But the pasta seemed home made and good. And the taste was very good. The calamari appetizer was good. The dessert (that I think was a chocolate torte) seemed recently frozen (could be wrong about that) and was too hard, but the strawberry sauce over it was nice. The coffee was good. For about $90 including tip (a little over 20%) for three of us with the mid-range entrees, with two of the lesser expense appetizers and one house salad, no wine, only one drink (coffee) other than water, it was priced fairly. The staff was super friendly, and the ambience beautiful but the food! Heaven on a plate, house made mozzarella, and a menu full of amazing options. Deciding what to get was hard because I'm only in town over night so I only have time to try one thing, I went for the design your pizza. It was fantastic, chewy yet crisp crust, tons of cheese, spicy sauce and pepperoni. It was awesome fresh and now I am eating leftovers for breakfast and it is equally as good, the spices are a little more prominent at room temperature. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Just ate here as a family on vacation, just happened to be $12 pizza night. Three of us had pizza and two had pasta - all of it was delicious! I really tried to get my husband to go here every night we were in town as I wanted to try everything on their menu. The dinner we had, well words just can't really describe. The pasta is homemade, the bolognese sauce is cooked for two days and is probably the best I have ever had in the west. The cheesy garlic bread is a loaf of rustic, freshly baked bread with a gob of cheese melted right on top. Spontaneous stop and we were pleasantly surprised. Started with the avocado bruschetta which was only miss of the night-avocado purée on toast, but not a lot of interest and it seemed over price. The Caesar salad was just excellent-large, flavorful, crisp lettuce and lovely crisp Parmesan bits. We split the tagliatelle with clams and this was another hit-came out hot, pasta delicate and well-cooked, and the clams were lovely. We were passing thru Newport, Oregon and we happened to see a lovely little Italian restaurant named Sorella. We were so delighted with the staff, the location, and most of all the fantastic food. The very nice wait person explained that the chef makes all of the pastas with a very new and special machine. We all ordered something different and we were all very impressed with our choices. The focaccia bread was the best I have ever had. We were so full from the delicious entrees we had that we almost didn't have dessert. Thankfully the wait person explained that the sorbet was also made from scratch. We had to try it and we all loved the sorbet flavor and the added crunchy mix took it to another level. I only gave them one star because they got us seated right away. We were on the last evening of our vacation and this place got good reviews. We ordered our pizzas and it took forever and the waitress came out with one pizza and said they messed up my husband's and it would be at least another 10 minutes. That pretty much ruins your evening. The person with the pizza (with the toppings the other person doesn't like- that's why you each order your own pizza!) doesn't want to eat theirs in front of the other hungry person without food, so theirs gets cold. Wouldn't recommend this place- it's very loud and after all that, the pizza wasn't even any good. read more

Decent Italian place. The main thing my partner and I noticed was the pasta was done very well, not too soft, not too firm. My partner ordered the Buccatini Bolognese and was very satisfied. I unfortunately had been on a bit of a meat-a-palooza for the past few days and felt the need to purge by ordering the Vegetarian Spaghetti Marinara - essentially spaghetti with tomato sauce - so my reaction was a bit more "Meh". Overall, however the service was friendly and attentive and the food is very reasonably priced. Pro tip - they charge for bread here and the dip appeared to be about 90/10 oil to balsamic vinegar ratio so just say no and move straight to the main course. read more

Went in on a weekend while visiting the coast. My husband had the duck and said it was good and I had a caesar salad hold the dressing and substitute for oil and vinegar, the size of the salad was very generous for $11.00. I added grilled chicken for an additional charge and they appeared to use thighs which made it juicy and not dry. I prefer chicken breast so wasn't that thrilled with the chicken. We decided to go for dinner because we wanted Italian and had read some of the recent reviews. We are so glad we ventured out in the fog. Phik was charming and gave us some great suggestions. We had Caesar salads which were well dressed and topped with delightful crisp cheese bits. We then had the pesto lasagna and bucatini carbonara. Both were fantastic and very satisfying. We're from Seattle and came into Nye Beach for a weekend getaway. We heard somewhere that Thursday is $10 pizza nights at Sorella's, and it sure was. The pizza is 14" so it's pretty large. Holy. Crap. This may be some of the best pizza I've had in my life, no joke. And that's including top notch pizza at nice Italian restaurants. Despite being a carnivore, my favorite ended up (strangely) being the eggplant Parmesan pizza. The eggplant was like an amazing French fry - crispy on the outside and it literalllllly melted in my mouth. Second favorite was the bacon pizza, which I was skeptical of because i don't usually like pears or red onions and fancy cheeses on my pizza but DAMN that was good. Artichoke pizza isn't bad either. But seriously - get the eggplant pizza. You won't regret it!!! read more

This is a strong 4 stars. I guess they just opened and they are working out the few minor bugs they have. Judging based on just the food - it's excellent. They had a game hen the other night that was fantastic and my wife loved the pasta and salad. The Caesar salad I had was excellent, as was the service by a very friendly and attentive young lady that looks straight into your eyes with a soft soul and smiles. She seemed happy and eager to make others happy as well. The place is loud. The concrete floor and high ceilings made for a bit of an echo chamber (especially with the child which we found out was named Ezra because the parents allowed him to run around like a banshee INSIDE the restaurant as others were trying to enjoy - not the restaurant's fault - but a definite entitlement family. Got into a Prius that was parked illegally in front of a red zone for convenience - and had an always annoying "Baby On Board" placard in the back window - SHEESH! Ok I'm done venting - back on the restaurant!). The noise can be an issue for a quiet dinner conversation, but I'm sure they will get it worked out. A definite recommendation to try it for the service and food. Low key, good food and a warm smile go a long ways towards a good future. read more

We visited Sorella on their 4th or 5th day - we had no idea, but it did explain the bare walls! :) The pasta was fantastic, although I was surprised by the bolognese - I was expecting a more tomato-heavy version but it was mainly just a meaty sauce. Despite the surprise, I found it was fantastic and very savory. I tried putting some on the side of polenta I got and WOW... *Note to the chef if you're reading...I would suggest a smaller portion of polenta, perhaps a good dollop on a side plate with a smoosh of that bolognese on top, maybe capped off with a bit of fresh basil. It would be a fantastic appetizer, very pretty and a little more exciting than a bowl of polenta all by itself. Not that it wasn't delicious, but it wasn't quite what I was thinking of when I ordered it.* My daughter ordered a pizza (they are personal sized, but fresh made every time) with arugula, red onion marmalade, and bacon. She ended up with pepperoni instead of bacon, but it was all good - and delicious! Our dessert was even better, a rustic strawberry-basil (yes really!) crostata with home made ice cream. I barely got a taste, my daughter ate most of it, but what I had was fresh and delicious. My only real criticisms (besides rethinking the presentation of that delicious polenta) would be two. First, have the waitstaff ask about whether a side item is desired ahead of time - we would love to have had the bread and oil before the rest, especially since all that home-made goodness takes a little time to prepare (we were hungry!). Second, though, is what really stood out... I would put up some kind of partition between the back prep areas and the front/bar area. From our table we could see dirty dishes, garbage, used linens, and the manager and staff doing their behind-the-scenes thing. Just my two cents, though, it's your place! We're looking forward to visiting again next time we're in Newport and seeing how this place fares! read more

Very friendly staff and delicious food with numerous options to choose from. The only thing is that this restaurant is not a super nice restaurant, but more of a nicer family restaurant; there is even a little play area for kids and step stools in the restroom.
