Good meal with friendly service. Nice NW vibe. The salad was fresh & chilled with a nice balance of dressing. Clams were delicious with lots of garlic. Meatballs were very good & would order them without the spaghetti next time. Portion size was good. Next time will plan to eat family style, as the dishes could be shared. Went there last night and it was the worst it's ever been. The pizza dough was like a cracker. The pizza had ounces of oil just seeping on the plate. The toppings weren't even spread out well on the pizza. A 4 year old could make a better pie. Not to mention, their beer is always warm, and their wine and beer list is clearly made up by someone that does not have a palate. We like Nye Beach and stopped by for dinner and drinks. There was a small bar and it was full, so we sat at a table. The server was pretty spacey. She asked us a couple times what we had just ordered which was weird. Anyways, they had a Happy Hour deal on wine and beer, so my wife ordered a red while I had a local red beer. For a while our server was the only server, so getting her attention was tough. We had their HH focaccia with balsamic and EVOO and it was okay. It wasn't as good as some but wasn't bad either. I come to Newport frequently on business, and enjoy dining at this restaurant. It has excellent Italian food, good service, and a small bar. The pastas are homemade, and outstanding. I have enjoyed most of them , and tonight ordered the baked ziti with Italian sausage, one of my favorites, if I had one criticism, I would say the menu is not very friendly to single diners. There are no small salad options, which would be nice with a pizza or pasta. And if I were to dream, a little basket of bread would be nice. The lasagna was massive and the pizza was good. The meat sauce on the plate helped supplement the lasagna's flavor, which was a bit bland. For dessert we had the chocolate gelato and tiramisu. We were lucky to come accross this hidden gem only minutes after they were open for service. It is hard to find a true authentic Italian food. Yes, we were spoiled by east coast. Very happy and can't wait to go back! Our experience started with the BEST service by Megan M who was the perfect amount of attentive and helpful. We started by ordering an Insalata Mista salad and Caesar salad with anchovies. Fabulous! We were craving pizza, so we shared the Margherita and added pepperoni. The crust was thin and crisp, not soggy, and it was SO delicious. The vibe was great, the restaurant was clean, and everyone was super friendly. While we were there, we learned they make their own sausage and sauce. We can't wait to go back and try some pasta dishes. This used to be our go to place for Italian food. We lived in Newport and loved the place. The portions were fair for the price, and the lasagna was to die for. We made a special trip into town to eat there to find the restaurant cold, with one customer who appeared to be an employee in her pajamas on a computer. My wife ordered the lasagna which was half the portion that it normally is and it looked like it came out of a frozen food case instead of being hand made like they used to make. She was able to make out 1 mushroom and absolutely no discernible meat in the dish whatsoever. I had the veal parmigiana which was extremely overcooked and dry to the point of being black on the edges. When asked about desserts, we usually get the gelato sampler but was afraid to waste any more money in that place for fear of being disappointed anymore. read more

I had the opportunity to go back on July 6th, and Wow! I have traveled all over the USA, and have been too Italy, and this Restaurant just hits it out of the park. Once again greeted by a friendly hosted that greeted us with a smile and walked us to our table and promptly got us Water and Menus. I had the Saturday night Drink Special, a Rainbow Mojito, made with fresh berries which was very refreshing. Our server was very friendly and clearly reviewed the dishes and which ones she enjoyed. I decided to try the Baked Rigatoni, oh my, I could have this dish every day. From the layer of baked cheese on top, to the homemade Rigatoni noodles baked just right, now to the very flavorful spicy sauce (not too spicy) and the various veggies and wonderfully flavored sausage. I failed to mention we started with a wonderful Caesar Salad, made with homemade breadcrumbs and homemade in house dressing that was packed with wonderful flavors. Lastly, the desert menu has many traditional Italian deserts, (all homemade in house) we were fairly full, but still needed a little sweet, and went for the trio of Sorbets. (s'mores, strawberry & olive oil, and Berry) Lastly, let me say it again. Great Greeting, Great Server, Great Overall Dinner, antipasti, beverage and desert. Great Italian food! I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts. My husband had never eaten them. He tried them and ended up loving them! He also had one of the pizzas and I had the Caesar salad with anchovies. And we had a side of garlic bread. All so delicious!! I will add that the Caesar salad is enough for at least two people. This restaurant had promise, a nice environment and pleasant staff. I had the veal parmesan, it was a large serving of veal, angel hair pasta, decent sauce. Unfortunately the parmesan cheese was burnt and the veal was over cooked. We had small clams in angel hair pasta it was bland and arrived cold. Some pepper flakes and parmesan helped. We had desert the gelato was ok, not good. The tiramisu was bitter I assume there wasn't any liquor in it and it had a lot more espresso grounds than usual. If they put chocolate powder on it at all, I'd be surprised. It was very disappointing, bitter and nasty tasting tiramisu. Absolutely the worst tiramisu I have ever had! My husband and I love to travel to Newport and when we are there we ALWAYS stop at Sorella. Two of my favorite things are their calamari and eggplant involtini. Their calamari is lightly breaded and perfectly crispy and tender. I also love that it comes with pepperoncinis, so yummy! They also have delicious pastas and my husband has ordered a different each time and each time they have been amazing.
