Ehhhhh, food was alright. Service was slow because they had the bartender serving 4 additional tables. Requested to be sat in dining room and was placed in the bar seating area, was told "the dining room is backed up". Really good food, but I stress making a reservation before coming or you will be forced to sit at the bar or wait 45 minutes. We chose to sat at the bar, and it was clear from the get go that the service was not going to be good. We didn't get silverware, water and we had to ask for bread. Never got Parmesan cheese for our dinners like everyone else did that was sitting at a table who MADE reservations. It was like we were not important all because we didn't make a reservation. As a waiter went around giving everyone else cheese but us. Didn't even ask. That made me mad. Uh? We are paying full price for entrees that don't have any cheese and we also have to ask for bread and silverware? Not good. Went to Sorellina on a week night. Still quite busy. Waitress was friendly and efficient; but clearly stretched to thin by to many tables. Very long stretches before we would have her pass by. Over 30 minutes before she showed up the first time. Lobster Bisque had good flavor, but was much to thin. Ceasar salad was quite good. Main courses (pasta) were ok, not great. The rigatoni with Italian sausage was disappointing. The sausage was cooked to mush rather than a piece of sausage. Nothing special. The chicken carbonara was also good, not great. I am genuinely impressed that they are able to finesse people to eat here since the food is very bland. The aesthetic and the brand is beautiful but the food is not anywhere near the quality it should be. I knew I was in for a less than great meal when the dirty goose martini was not drinkable. At least the Bloody Mary was good so I washed it down with that since it came from a prepared bottle. I also got a chicken piccata and it was like eating pasta with water and unseasoned chicken. We had been waiting to eat a good Italian meal all week, this place was recommended to us. We got there on time for reservation. Got seated and ordered bruschetta. It was the best bruschetta I've had in an extremely long time, next was antipasti salad which was a terrible lame presentation, shredded lettuce, inundated with olives and 4 strips of Genoa salami, tasteless dressing. E we asked for salt and pepper. Waited couple minutes, waiter came back out and said, Shit, forgot the salt and pepper. Next came entrees Lasagna came out in a small casserole dish, no layers of lasagna noodle, meat was gravy like with melted ricotta cheese and possibly mozzarella, so he thought, it was a mess. I had pasta with bolognese sauce and meatballs. Not sure what they make the sauce with but it was so peppery hot and noodles al dente. I did not like the taste of it. He came by to ask how we liked it, my husband told him I didn't like it but I didn't want to make a big deal. When he came back again, I asked for the bill and they were nice enough to take off my spaghetti. So very disappointed, as the restaurant had a nice decor and ambiance. First of all let me say that the place is really clean and really attentive waiters/waitress :-) having it said my experience was... OK the food was great but there were certain things that could use some improvement salad for one thing needed to have less croutons lol like half as a chef It was like I had to shovel at least half of them to the side to actually get to the salad :-). I also noticed that the pasta dish that I had was a teeny bit under cooked however having address to the wait staff they addressed it promptly and resolve the situation. Beautiful restaurant, friendly and fast service, scrumptious drinks and ok entrees. We were greeted and seated right away which is always wonderful. The restaurant has a clean with a modern welcoming vibe and tables seated far enough away from one another that you're not rubbing elbows with your neighbor. We started our bill with a round of drinks, we had a local beer and a cucumber gimlet. We enjoyed both very much. For an appetizer we decided on the calamari, and we were so happy we did. It arrived with a red and white dipping sauce and a good portion size. For entrees we had the veal piccata and the Gamberetti. The veal piccata was SOUR to say the least and the batter on the veal was soggy. My hubs had the other dish and said it would of really benefited to have some Cayanne pepper sprinkled on top. A delicious Italian restaurant right in the heart of downtown traverse city, Sorellina stands out as one of the best spots in town. We had a group of eight and the service was spot-on throughout. The highlights of the meal for our group were the bruschetta (still wondering how the tomatoes were as sweet as they were) and the chicken parmigiana (light breeding and sitting on a bed of sauced noodles). We tried several other dishes and all were good and well seasoned. We all got up the next morning and ran 13 miles in the bayshore half, so the food must have been at least a little healthy. Romantic atmosphere for a dinner in downtown Traverse City. They have a happy hour menu for their cocktails with some pretty tasty selections. Their bruschetta was absolutely delicious. I ordered the gnocchi. I loved the sauce (hello garlic lovers). My fiancé ordered the chicken Alfredo. We were both surprised with the noodles that came with it (not your standard fettuccine noodles that typically come with Alfredo). He was happy with it overall, but said he probably would order something else next time. I'm docking one star because, for the price (most meals $20-30), I would expect to have the option of a soup or salad with my meal. Just something to round it out, you know? My friends raved about this place. So we went to try it, and the food was actually un-eatable. When the waiter came up to us we mentioned how bad it was and if they even had an italian chef, and they replied no, our chef is 18 years old. I'm not trying to attack the business at all but as an owner of a business investment and development company I can personally and professionally say this business is a recipe for failure. The lack of an atmosphere with music so low you can hear the table 6 feet away from you, and the liquor shelf having less options than my home liquor shelf, all while having an 18 year old chef is a mess. I highly recommend the owner to invest some money in the things that matter for a restaurant, atmosphere, drinks, and food rather than making their establishment look nice to attract guest but only to turn them away because of a bad experience. read more

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. As an Italian visiting a popular city, I found this offensive. Practically dog food on a plate. Over priced for the amount of food that you receive, absolutely no bread, the food arrived burned and smelled. Service wasn't the best either. I also felt sick after eating that food. Do not go here at all, you'd be better off going to an Olive Garden, and that's bottom of the barrel. Waste of money and a big disappointment to me and my family. My husband and I had dinner here the other night. The service was great, his dinner was terrific. Mine, lasagna, was all cheese and very little meat with maybe one slice of pasta. It came in a 6" round dish with nothing else for $18. Wasn't really impressed with the food. Just a little to rich for me. Dined here last night, our second time, having been here about a year ago. It's a very pleasant atmosphere. Has the feel of a big city restaurant. Overall, we were somewhat disappointed. The service was fine, not exceptional, not poor. The food, however, has taken a major step backward since last year. I had the antipasti salad was very light on meat and cheese and very heavily soaked in dressing. For an entree I had the Chicken Carbonara. The pasta was good, cooked properly and the sauce was tasty. The chicken was very thin strips of grilled chicken that tasted like cardboard. I was almost like they took leftover chicken from previous nights meals and used it in this dish. Although the price is rated as $$, I would very much disagree. The bill for three people, no drinks, alchohol or desert, was $145. It's at least $$$ and maybe $$$$. They had a huge event going on when we were there, so maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed. However, no excuse for putting out that quality of food at that price. Probably won't be back which is a shame because we loved it a year ago. read more

I really want to like Sorrelina's. The atmosphere is simple and clean design. Enough tables for many and not too many to feel swarmed. But, with so many fine choices for dining in TC some disappointments on basics may cost them a return visit. The bruschetta app was very well prepared and tasty--a nice start to the evening. The house bread and dipping oil were amazing, as other reviewers said. As for the entrees, our group of 11 had a variety. The beef tenderloin looked fantastic, but I don't think it was a true tenderloin.(?) I'd want to see the chef prepare it from refrig to plate. Chicken parmigiana was quite tasty, sauce very fine, but the pounded chicken breast a tad over cooked, to having crispy, inedible corners--for both of our diners. Squid ink pasta with seafood was excellent. Spaghetti with house meatballs pleased adolescents and adults. Eggplant parmigiana satisfied. Now for pricing. Yelp lists Sorrelina's at $$. Nearly all entrees were $20 to $30+. This is TC, and I don't mind spending for great food. This is a $$$, at least. And for $$$, there are many places to choose from. read more

I've been looking forward to eating here for quite some time and finally went here a week or so ago with three friends. The food was excellent--I had the risotto with saffron and though the saffron flavor could have been more intense, the rice was cooked to perfection. I also ordered the shrimp appetizer to have alongside the rice and it was a wonderful combination. My dinner companions had salads and soup which they all said were excellent as well. My only complaint: it took forever to get our drinks. I usually like to order a drink to sip while I look at the menu . . . instead, we ordered drinks, then dinner and only had a very few minutes to consume our drinks before our dinner arrived, so I ended up having my drink WITH my dinner. Not the way I like to do it. Our waitress was friendly but not attentive. We asked for bread when we ordered our drinks and it didn't get put on the table until after our dinners had already been served. The place was not busy so there was nothing we could see to explain why she disappeared for long periods of time. I'll go back because the food was so good, but this restaurant needs to more thoroughly train their wait staff if they want to succeed in Traverse City . . . there is so much competition out there for our dining dollars and I would much rather put up with mediocre food with excellent service than the other way around. read more

Amazing service from Dave! He made dining out with our toddler enjoyable which can be hard to do. He brought fruit for him and kept him entertained. Also a very skilled server. As myself and boyfriend are both chefs from ohio, we make sure to take notice people who go above and beyond. Its hard to find people like dave to make your experience amazing! Food was spot on. We both enjoyed the Caesar salad. I preferred the small portion so i didnt get full from just the salad. I had the osso bucco pappardelle. It was a savory delight. And my boyfriend had the lasagna. Knowing that a lot of restaurants microwave this dish, we were happy to have an oven baked lasagna that was as good as mine. read more

Bread was old and just microwaved to make it "soft" 4. The ravioli appetizer is $10 for one large ravioli ( what a ripoff) In summary place is gouging you because it's in traverse city. We had the Halibut, Chicken Piccata, Lasagna and gluten free Chicken Carbonara. All were delicious! Our server was Erica, and even though she was busy, she took very good care of us!
