It was raining. It was cold. I needed something warm and filling. WHile driving my sister and I decided on Sorrento's. We wanted to do takeout. I decided on the ciopinno and she got spaghetti with marinara, an d an antipasto salad. Our food took 25 minutes. The girl who works at the counter is so rude and manner-less. When you own teh business and running the counter you should talk to your customers and not act like this is Rodeo Drive. She didn't answer my questions. Good thing I know Spanish and I asked the cooks and they were way more friendly than her. Highlight: Have a 4lb. bucket of cipinno to take home. :) read more

I haven't tried the pizza and will NOT after my "sandwich" today! Why doesn't anyone cook food anymore. You know, fresh ingredients cooked together with fresh sauces to create something we used to call food. I had the chicken parm sub. I watched the "cook" proceed to pull 3 "chicken" patties from the cooler and place them on the counter. I have worked in many a kitchen in my life and I KNOW what pre-made SYSCO food looks and tatses like. This is the same product our kids are fed in schools and prisoners are served in prison. Industrial, frozen, bland bullshit "food". He heated the patties in a pan for a minute or so, sauced the bread and put some bland cheese on it and into the oven to heat. I live right around the corner and it was still barely lukewarm when I bit into it, yet the "cheese" was almost completely melted away into a goo. Not sure how you can pull this off in an oven but they did. Only saving grace was the sub bread. All this for $9.54??!?!?? You can't even cook me a real chicken breast for fuksake Sorrento's?? For the prices you charge you are pulling one over on the good people of San Pedro. Selling pre-made, frozen food and calling it "authentic" Italian is a sad, sad joke. You fooled me once Sorrento's but NEVER again. Let the buyer beware! I can't believe places like this not only stay open but apparently people really like it. I wonder what people would think when they are actually cooked a real meal with fresh ingredients? Places like this would cease to exist. God forbid if you order any seafood from this dump. I sample a lot of pizza's around the city but there is one pizza house that is my favorite and it is only 2 miles from where I live. Sorrento's is the best pizza I know of. I also have relatives that don't live nearby, but when they do come, they have to have at least one meal from Sorrento's. Sorrento's has a great medium thick pizza crust, generous on the sauce and cheese and all the topping you can think of. My favorite is the Canadian ~BACON~, green peppers, onions, and pineapple. A little more expensive (about $22 for a medium pizza,) but worth the extra $. They also have some great Italian specialties (the Chicken Romano I especially like,) and great sandwiches, but the pizza is really what they do right. A coworker and I come here for lunch fairly regularly. We love the place! They have a great lunch special menu with generous portions. And they make awesome pizzas! Very accomodating staff. I like Sorrento's sandwiches a lot, especially the meatball sandwich and the Italian sub, both are very good. I usually order over the phone and pick up from the store, the make everything very fast. As for their pizza, it is always fresh and hot when I pick it up and the sauce is just slightly sweeter then other pizza places (but it is good pizza - very thick and cheesy, I like their veggie pizza and their Hawaiian pizza). Parking is tricky though. I really hate parking in the lot, it's always crowded and sometimes there's no space or the space is really tight. So I recommend parking in the Von's parking lot behind the place if you can't find a space and just walking over. read more

For our most recent Italian night, and to kick off the 4th of July weekend, we decided to try Sorrento's. It was our first time and we were satisfied. Their pizza is great! There's something secret in the sauce that kept me eating...even though I was already full after two slices. We went with our usual; salami, & fresh tomatoes, but switched it up a bit with fresh garlic instead of basil. The sauce is a tad sweet which went well with the fresh tomatoes and garlic, but I was a bit disappointed with the salami, from what I could see/find (the cheese was on top of the sauce & toppings) it was sparse, and the couple slices I got were thicker than I like. The crust is very good, not thick/doughy, and has a good crunch. No delivery, so I went to pick up, and even though it's about a 25 block drive, the crust stayed sog-free, yay! Easy peasy lot parking. We also got a large side salad with creamy Italian dressing. It was just the usual iceberg lettuce mix (slivered carrots and red cabbage) and box croutons. You know iceberg lettuce - if you don't eat it immediately, it's already red-brown and icky the next morning. Stick with the pizza! We sure will ^_^ read more

Oh Sorrento's how I miss you. I grew up eating your gigantic slices of pizza from the days when I couldn't finish a single slice as a kid to the crazy chunky 90's when a third slice didn't seem out of line, and now back to the I don't live in my home town anymore and miss the pizza I grew up on so I stuff myself with two slices when visiting. We've been coming here for years. Once you try their MEATBALL SANDWICH you'll never go anywhere else for another. DELICIOUS with marinara sauce, cheese and the fresh bread. My boyfriend and I were craving pizza and happily stumbled upon Sorrento's after a drive over the hill from Lomita. We noticed that they were getting ready to close but they let us order take out and they were really nice about it. While we waited, we played video games and got some cool little prizes from the quarter machines. After about 12 minutes, the pretty lady that worked there gave us our pizza and it was so heavy! I was excited to get a look at it. When we got home we opened the box and marveled at the amount of toppings. Copious amounts of good quality sausage, mushrooms and black olives. Sorrento's is definitely generous with the cheese also. It tastes just as good as it looks: the crust was crispy, the ingredients were fresh and the sauce is sweet and tasty. Boy what a letdown. After being so hyped up, I came away from this place very disappointed. I love a good Chicken Parm Sammy and the one I had here was awful. First off, processed frozen chicken patties is immediately a bust. You know, the kind that taste like freezer burn. The sauce (which I'm assuming is their red sauce for all their pastas) was so salty I drank a cup of water for every bite I took. And unfortunately I could only handle a few bites. The bread tasted good but it felt like they heated it in the microwave from how chewy it got. Had a taste of the meatball and it was better but not much. The third star taken away for the attitude. This review is for the deli side. I had a potluck to go to in the afternoon and it was so evident I wasn't going to have time to cook all that I intended. The theme was italilian and I rarely go to Italian restaurants unless with friends or on a date. I knew of one on route-barely and it was this place. I walk in and the staff is super friendly. I decide on the antipasto salad I got a big one... I could have made a cheaper choice but oh well. Let me tell you!! That salad was MOLTO scrumptious!!! The marinated mushrooms and artichokes were to DIE for. Ample deli meats. And get the creamy Italian dressing option. Yum Mi. I was told the salad would be ready in ten, it was ready in 8 and it was just beautiful. The way the veggies were piled on it looked homemade. Did I correct this misconception? ... I have to say that this is not my favorite pizza, actually far from it. I go here for one thing only now, the baked rigatoni! It's awesome. I usually get it to go, but have eaten in the restaurant. The decor looks a little dated and the place could use a little renovating. They have a decent Italian house dressing and good garlic bread. It does seem a little pricey however (at least the pizzas are). There is a private lot but parking during the day can be difficult. By dinner time most of the neighboring shops have closed and it is easier to find a place to park. read more

Sorrentos is great for quick and filling Italian food. I only get their food to go, but they also have a fairly big dining section inside. The sandwiches are very good; the eggplant and chicken Parmesans are two of my favorites that always hit the spot. The pizzas are just OK and were a bit greasy. New York pizza has me spoiled and is soo hard to be compared to. I'm not really a fan of their pasta either, but if you want to get stuffed, you'll definitely be after leaving here. Great family vibe and the owners really support the local community. The local football team meets here every Friday before the game and has a big meal. Tip: If you get a sandwich, order a large because you'll be able to have half for later...they're that big! Order it to go and it's ready in no time! read more

If you're really the type who loves big portions though, then this is the spot for you. It is an old standard in the harbor, and there is nothing wrong with it - it's just not memorable. Best take out in San Pedro!! This place is amazing. We randomly stumbled upon a menu and ordered take out. Holy delicious food, batman!! I am completely obsesses with the cheese tortellini and the zucchini lasagna. My husband has found a love for the stuffed shells. Get the dinner combo and it comes with salad and some delicious garlic bread that will make you want to eat every piece that comes with your order. Food is always done really quickly and is so damn good. A local gem in San Pedro, and totally worth the $. I have grown up going to Sorrento's with my family! And it has only gotten better over the years! The food is absolutely delicous! I love the sanwiches, which are always fresh! The only thing about it I may not like is that there really arent many healthy options. My husband has been dieting and working out a lot lately so he can't go there anymore cause there is nothing healthy for him to eat. Other than that it is a great indulgence, especially when you want a slice of pizza piled super high with toppings and thick crust! My son and I stopped in after spending the morning down the street at White Point Nature Preserve & White Point Park ... We utilized the walk-in/take-out side (there is also a Sit-down Restaurant side - they don't have outside seating (and only a couple of chairs on the "take out" side, but we found available outside tables at the Mexican Restaurant next door ... We shared a "Personal" size cheese pizza with olives and it was 6 slices of heaven - the perfect amount to give me 4 slices and him 2 ... Sorrento's is fantastic.. if you've got the cheddar. The pasta is great.. hearty, big portions, cheesy and saucy.... the stuffed shells are a best bet. My favorite is the tuna salad... omg. ACTUAL tuna... not mixed with mayo... topping a salad with beets, garbanzos, cheese, shredded veggies... so healthy! My only beef is that it costs upwards of 9 dollars... which I guess is to be expected for truly good food. The swordfish sandwich is another favorite.. comes with a salad... for 9bucks... huge -fill you up - and pretty wholesome.
