I really enjoy the seafood pasta and Hawaiian pizza from here. The sauce they use is sweet, but taste oh so good. Yesterday, I was craving for their pizza, so I ordered the usual Hawaiian for the family which is always delicious and I also ordered a Margherita pizza for me. A Margherita pizza is simply sliced rounded tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil. This pizza had diced tomatoes with tons of pesto on it. I ate one slice and could not eat anymore. I threw the rest of the pizza away. I'm writing this so that the owners would rethink and reinvent a delicious Margherita pizza. Until they come up with something different, I'll stick to my Hawaiian. read more

You can't go wrong with Sorrento's? Hands down the best pizza in town. Quality dishes across the board. My favorite for the past 30+ years is the rigatoni with meatballs. Do yourself a favor and visit the Mattera family and dine in. Nothing like good old fashioned high back booths. read more

Ok it took me two years + to come back but I did. The Pizza is more pricey now at over 22 smackers for a two topping 14 incher. Any more, and I am done. Cuz that is getting ridiculous. Anyhoo, I ordered a pepperoni & mushroom and although the service pissed me off a bit. YOU REALLY SHOULD HAVE A PICKUP SIGN because those of us that ordered on the phone had to wait for people that were ordering in person and our food got cold! Also, tell the people on the phone the price and count the change out to them not yourself SHEESH!!!! I used to like this place. This time it was just meh at best. The sauce was a little only the bland side, as were the meatballs. There's way too much cheese on everything. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs with no cheese, and it came with a boatload of Parmesan. Their packaging was terrible - this isn't something I'd normally complain about but when the plastic lids on hot dishes crack into tiny pieces and get in your food, that sucks. Overall, I think it's a restaurant we will have to take off our list. read more

Is it my group or is their sauce sweet when compared with all other Italian food? Dissapointed in their pasta and pizza. I really like to support family owned businesses. However, the people that operate the front counter are so rude . We called yesterday to order a pizza . The lady taking our order was more than rude. She said just call back when you know what you want . We knew exactly what we wanted . We asked for roasted garlic on our pizza . If you do not have roasted garlic, you can respectfully say " no we domt have it ". There are many pizza places to choose from, customers return for friendly service . I've been here several times, I'm not a regular but I've been here enough to finally write a review. Sit down dinners are good & service is really fast & efficient. Plates are huge, the food is always good & fresh. There is a Woman waitress who is there every time I have dined in & she's very fast & super nice/friendly. Today we ordered a medium pepperoni pizza & we were short some change & the employee let us slide, which is really nice because most people will deny you an order over a few cents. Sorrento's is a mom-n-pop Italian restaurant, located behind a Mobil gas station in San Pedro. 1st time here so I hope my review stays within character of those who may come here often. The place is divided into 2 sections: a take out side, and a dine in restaurant. The place looks old fashion but seating was comfortable and most tables were more like booths. Very spacious... the greeter was ok and the server had little to say but they both did their jobs and the food was most delicious. Don't mind a quiet waiter just as long as they aren't mean or rude !! Anyways, I order the seafood pasta and my mom had the meatball sandwich, and my son had the kids ravioli w/meat sauce all of which the temperature was hot, packed with flavor and great satisfaction overall. Same here on Valentine's Day of 2020 and let me tell you we only waited about five minutes which was fantastic no reservation. We ordered about four different entrées just for my husband and my little four year old daughter. Tons of garlic bread tons of leftovers and dessert was amazing. I can honestly say we will not be having Italian food from any other restaurant and we will never ever think of all of Olive Garden as Italian food after eating here. We ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo, seafood pasta, trio of Italy, hugeeee bowl of clam chowder. I honestly can't even pick a favorite because they were delicious sauces were amazing; when I say they were dripping off of the plate they were dripping off the plate. Third time here in ten years (2nd time dining in). Close to, but not super close to, home otherwise we'd come more often. This last visit knocked my Italian socks off, though. I love the simple old school ambience complete with vinyl booths and twine wrapped wine bottles along with the friendly service even when our kids are wreaking havoc. And speaking of kids....there is a large area with four tables up on a raised section of the dining room which is perfect if you're having dinner with several families which we were on Wednesday. On this last visit, we really tried to restrain the kiddos and keep them in our own section of the restaurant but another patron didn't seem to think we were doing a very good job and said, "Maybe Chuck E. Cheese would have been a better choice..." I'm sorry about that but Chuck E. Cheese has sucked ever since they remodeled it somewhere about the mid-'80s, replaced most of the cool video games (like Dragon's Lair and Track & Field) with token stealing 'flip-toss' skill-free games or the like, replaced the awesomely huge and creepily dark 'Chuck E. Cheese Theater' complete with a wide array of monstrously animatronic characters with a light, bright dining room with smaller stage and fewer characters, changed their pizza recipe and stopped serving beer completely. And speaking of pizza...at Sorrento's, we ordered two large pizzas along with some salads and pastas for some of the kids. I've had their pizza before: once dining in and once taking out. While it was good, I don't recall it being as good as it was this past Wednesday night. Wow. While I didn't choose the toppings (one mushroom pizza and one mushroom and pineapple pizza), they were fantastic. Perhaps the $10 carafe of house Burgundy (!!) was getting to me but I somewhat doubt it. The sauce was perfect, great taste and not too much or too little....the hot melty Mozzarella was perfect...the crust was an absolute perfect combination of chew and crisp. This place may have taken the lead for pizza on or close to 'The Hill'. The Appetizer was always our go-to pizza joint over Rafaello's in Lunada Bay (both of which have decent but not 'amazing' pizza) but I may have to make the extra trek for Sorrento's next time. I also had a dinner salad ($5) and it was ample, fresh and tasty with tomatoes, cucumber, croutons, garbanzo and kidney beans. The creamy Italian dressing was great. All in all, a great experience with the exception of some wild and wooly kids. read more

Went to get a Haircut at Clip Joint Barbershop next door , they heard my stomach growling and suggested I go get a Sandwich or Pizza from Sorrentos next door. And I did , I was aiming for a Sandwich but as I walked in the aroma of the Pizza ingredients overwhelmed my senses so I went for both a Pizza for now and a Sandwich for later. Been coming here for well over 40 years and still love the smell that good food emanating from the Kitchen. "Its the cheesiest" is a tag line usually associated with Kraft Macaroni but it would better serve as the motto for Sorrento's Pizza. This local San Pedro hot spot dishes out some of the cheesiest pizzas around, and there is truly nothing like it. The sauce is a little sweeter, the crust a little softer, and the cheese well its the cheesiest. Its a great place to grab a slice of pie and though not well known outside of the South Bay it holds its own roud these parts. This place doesn't mess around, and dishes out a unique pie that can stand toe to toe with the best in the West. Needless to say I have some vacay lbs. to loose in the next 2-4 weeks and I'm working on that as I'm plugging in this review-darn-it! Me not being a meat lover I chose 1/2 the pie to be a Margherita....I'd have to say the garlic was a bit overcooked and had a bitter taste but the rest of the Margherita mix was totally on target. Loved the crust; it rivaled our pizza cook off we had the week prior with dough from the local Italian Deli. For an evening of no cooking, no dishes, I give Sorreto's a big 5 stars. But since I still love the flavors from our home grown pizza cook off vs. the cost of a gourmet pizza, I'm all about Sorrento's when not in the mood to cook ad clean & a pizza cook-off when the guys are down for dish duty! read more

This great little Italian restaurant has been an institution in San Pedro since '62, and shows no signs of slowing down. We have been getting our take out pizza here for almost that long. This joint never disappoints, we usually get Italian sausage and mushrooms. The pie is accompanied with a generous amount of cheese and a above par crust, not too thick, never soggy. The meatball sandwich is good as is the pasta. Fish dinners and the veal is also quite tasty. Adjacent to the to go section is the main restaurant, table service is attentive and cozy. When you patronize this Pedro institution say "Hi" to Angie, she's a sweetheart and runs the place. I only get my pizza from Sorrentos when I'am in town and so should you. I often do takeout on my way home. The person who takes the order on the phone is always friendly and helpful. When I arrive, the place is clean and there is a happy, positive vibe going on. The portions are plentiful and the food delicious. When I leave a tip, which is always, the entire staff thanks me, which makes me think few people leave a tip. What I didn't like was the behavior of the cooks. They didn't let me eat in peace, they kept giving me these uncomfortable stares. The waiter wasn't that great either, first he asks if I want a refill and when I said ok he assumed that I said that *I* was ok. So he left and didn't bring me anything. Sorrento's is a fav of mine from my nursing school days. Been here many times, enjoyed the pizzas, pastas and sandwiches. In fact, during my geriatric rotation my clinical instructor use to assign me and 2 other people to get lunch from here....EVERY DAY for 2 weeks. But we didn't mind. I'm absolutely in love with their spaghetti w/meat sauce. I recommend any pasta with their meat sauce. It's a tad sweeter than most places but it's tasty. Get an order of garlic bread to soak all that goodness in. Huge portions are given so you'll have an extra meal when you take the rest home. You can either eat in the restaurant (service is always great) or order things to-go at their counter. Parking can be an issue during lunch hours but usually it's not too bad. read more

We came here on a Sunday at around noon and the place was empty. We ordered a few pizzas and some pasta. The service was kind of slow but not horrible even though we were literally the only people in the restaurant. But the pizza was terrible it had a super thin watery crust. The pizza was barley capable to be held by hand, it was a mess and the ingredients were not good. The pasta was out of a box not fresh fettuccine Alfredo, I make better stuff at home.
