If I owned the place I'd go ahead and shut it down to keep from losing more money. $32 for lunch for me and my wife? Both got the chopped sandwich on an oval shaped bun. The portion of beef was so small I thought the kid chopping it up was going to cut off his fingers. I'm pretty sure the bun was smaller than before. A couple weeks ago I got a rack of ribs to go, and a side of corn was $8. I thought it was ridiculous so I didn't get any. Holy smokes man. I did an Uber eats order and was skeptical. The wait was long but that wasnt the restaurants fault. It was a cold wet rainy Wednesday evening. When the food arrive I was amazingly surprised how DELICIOUS it was. Still hot and fresh. My husband got the ribs and chicken. My son got the turkey and ribs. I got the brisket sandwich. My husband said the chicken was the best he's had and my son said the same for his turkey. The sandwich did not disappoint either. Will definitely be back and next time in person. read more

I picked a 2 star review because it wasn't terrible but I won't go back. It's just as expensive as other Bar B Ques and the portions looked the same so some advertising is misleading. A customer in the line before me asked for sliced brisket. The server scraped the crust off and a layer of fat before slicing pinkish meat without a smoke ring and most likely any flavor. I purchased a chopped sandwich, a chicken plate, a hot link and a couple sides. Oh yeah a baked potato also. The server took the unscraped brisket put it in a grinder right there and layered that on a hoagie size roll. The fat and crust pieces were inedible. The chicken was ok. The skin was midway between crispy and gummy. The sides were recognizable from other fast food restaurants. The baked potato was large, not huge as seen in other joints and cooked thru good. Culinary delight as the flavor danced in my mouth. However... 4 stars because they phone in the side. Potatoe salad = mashed potatoes with pickles. Great brisket and ribs. The place is still new and matches the other Soulman's, if you have been to them around DFW. Had the pork, ribs, brisket, and sausage. They were all good, especially the ribs and beef, as mentioned above. But, some of it was 'meh': particularly the beans and fries. Also, half the restaurant was eating with their hands on a Friday night because there were no forks available for about 20 minutes. Oh well, if I'm gonna eat ribs, why not eat everything with my hands, right? Hmmm. I would typically give a place 3 stars for this review. But they are just getting their staff up to speed, and the meats were REALLY good. In a few weeks this will be a solid 4 star perennial. So, support a local business and head on in. I got takeout. They forgot part of my order. Noticed when I got home. I tried to use gift card I got for Christmas and they couldn't take it. Maybe it was expired?? The turkey is always great. They have great fries but that is what they forgot. Brisket tends to be tough. The ranch beans were just pinto beans with lots of added uncooked onions and peppers. I love Soulmans best BBQ is the burbs. I always get the chopped beef sandwich, potato salad, and pinto beans. The sauce is just the perfect amount of acidic. The chopped beef isnt overly fatty, the potato salad is mustard based so if that bothers you dont get it, the pinto beans are to die for, honestly I could go to soulmans get a pint of beans and be perfectly happy. read more

I ordered Soulman's through DoorDash for lunch yesterday. The food arrived still warm. The sausage was rubbery without much flavor. The BBQ sauce tasted like Sweet Baby Rays bottled sauce. I ordered green beans and Mac and cheese as my sides. The green beans were obviously from a can with a bit of onion added. Not much seasoning in them. The Mac and cheese tasted just like stouffer's frozen Mac and cheese. I also got a banana pudding for dessert. If you like lots of wafers, very little pudding and no bananas then this is for you. Was so excited to hear that Soulman was opening a location in Mansfield. Sadly, I was left with an unsatisfying taste in my mouth.(punn intended) Ordered the Out of Sight Special (sliced brisket), Ranch beans and Texas corn. Brisket lacked flavor and the description showed it came on a 6" roll (which it did not). My husband brought this home on his way from work. It is VERY close to our house. It is just the two of us so we got the Chick Wagon meal, we are also on a low carb regiment right now so our two sides were the fried cabbage and the green beans. Our meat selection was the pulled pork. It was all tasty. The pulled pork was good and moist and tender. The sauce was great also. I love cabbage and this side dish was delicious with a little kick. I love Soulman's Bar-B-Q but the one in Mansfield Tx is pretty bad. Their slogan is "we're not stingy with our meat" but the one in Mansfield Texas is very stingy with the sliced beef. I have been to six of their locations the best being in Royce City and Greenville. The Ceder Hill location was very stingy with their meat as I watched a manager hover over his server and get on him for serving too much sliced beef on a plate. When I went to the Mansfield location this past Sat I observed the same manager hovering over a server making sure he did not serve too much sliced beef. My friend has went to the Mansfield location and told me it had so much fat it was not fit to eat. I thought maybe he was being over critical so I went anyway. When I ask the sever for lean sliced beef the manager hovering over him ask me if I wanted it leaned to the left or right..... What I got was 4 slices of very thin sliced beef about 3 inches long and a handful of what looked like chopped beef or crumbles. As we were eating I noticed a little girl try to get ice cream from the machine only to find it empty. Over the next half hour as we ate I watched two other kids try to get ice cream but yet still had not been refilled. Their solution was to hang a out of order sign on it. I have a new Yelp account & so let me re-post my review for this restaurant. Many months ago, my husband and I spent over $40 bucks on food here but couldn't eat it because the man who sliced the meat dug in his nose and didn't wash his hands. I didn't want to humiliate him and so I privately contacted the business and they told me they were going to contact the manager at this particular location. Do you think anyone ever had the decency to contact me to return the money I lost over the Booger Man? Nope. They could have easily rolled back the video tapes and saw it for themselves because I gave them all of the information they needed. Food is sometimes decent but not consistently so. I ordered a holiday me from them and regretted it. The smoked turkey was good but the dressing was salty and tasted like it came from a box. I also ordered brisket for my family and it was tough and had not real bbq spices and lacked a smoky flavor. Rolls off a grocery shelf and banana flavored pudding was disappointing. The mashed potatoes and green beans were good but they sloshed the bean juice all over my order. By the time I cleaned off the mess they called to tell me that they left out the gravy and cranberry. We called in an order, but when my wife arrived, she was told that they were out of some food and made substitutions. The manager rudely told my wife that she had tried to call my wife, but the manager never called. We won't be going back to this location unless a change in the manger is made. This restaurant ruined our family Christmas dinner plans! We ordered a whole ham from them prior to Thanksgiving to be picked up on 12/23. I went there to pick it up with the ticket they gave me when I ordered it and they tell me that they do not have a ham for me. They told me that the employee that took the order was no longer employed and there was no record of my order. I watched her write the order in their holiday order notebook so I know she created the order. The employee's attitude was tough luck for me because we do not have a ham for you. This was the first time I tried this place. I had the brisket plate and smoked sausage with bake beans and potato salad. The potato salad was not that good and the bake beans were terrible. I had this delivered on 12/20/19 through Uber Eats. I ordered the chicken on a 4" bun plate with potato salad and pinto beans with a Dr. Pepper. The bun was fresh, buttered and soft. The chicken (bone-in) was a nice sized portion. The chicken was juicy and flavorful by itself. When the sauce was added it was perfection! Terrible Service, I ask for a slab of ribs, I informed the server who was cutting the meat that I wanted a slab from the warmer she said that she was not allowed to do that and that she had to use the ribs that were sitting on the block first. I explained to her that I didn't want the ribs that had been sitting out because they looked dried out and cold and that I had been to this store before and the other staff had sold me ribs from the warmer, she then again said to me that she was not allowed to do that, So I left without buying anything. Being from Chicago, there's not many good Que joint in this neck of the woods, but this place is pretty good. The ribs are good and meaty, the sides aren't bad either, I love their corn, it's a perfect blend of sweet & spicy. We had for meats: turkey, ham, pulled pork, and brisket. All the meats were good. I suggest you don't put the sauce on the ham. They've smoked it so well, the ham stands on its own. We had the sauce, which is very good, on the other meats. I would leave it to you. I prefer a good smoke without sauce. But, the sauce did not take away from the meal. The beans and coleslaw were good, too. The free ice cream always makes for a good bbq. My friend recommended the stuffed baked potato. I guess that's what I'll have next time. read more

If you've been thinking about a trip here - do it. We stopped in for lunch and had the two meat plate. We both got the spicy sausage and the sliced beef. YUM! Especially the spicy sausage, it was delicious. We had fried okra, mac & cheese and cole slaw and all the sides were fresh and tasty and the meal was topped off with a piece of Texas Toast. I'm pretty sure I will get three meals out of my plate as will my husband, the 3rd in sandwich form using up the meat. We topped it off with a free ice cream cone and I was so happy it was really soft serve ice cream and not ice milk like I've gotten at other establishments. Overall, great experience. Super friendly staff, offered a tasting of the sausage to make sure it was not too hot and they made several rounds to visit the tables to ensure everyone was satisfied.
