Came here Saturday around 5 pm. Line was long but moved pretty quick. We were told 20-25 min wait but felt less. Food: We ordered the pork soup dumplings, crab/pork soup dumplings, vegetarian bun with mushrooms, noodles with scallion oil, scallion pancakes, fried breadsticks, and beef udon. A friend who enjoys Asian food as much as I do highly recommended that we go to SDP. my son and I arrived at about 8 o'clock on a weeknight and there was a long line. Not to be discouraged we put our name in and the line went surprisingly fast from the moment we were seated to the moment we left the service was fantastic. The servers and the manager were very friendly and attentive. We started with some dim sum, including a scallion roll with beef, pork soup dumplings, pork, and crab soup dumplings. we then ordered sautéed string beans with beef, garlic, sautéed bok choy and the general tsao's chicken. The chicken was pretty standard, but everything else was outstanding. I think this restaurant has some of the best dim sum and Shanghaiese food in Northern New Jersey. We might go back this weekend. I was introduced to this authentic Shanghainese restaurant back in 2017 and have been going ever since. One word I would use to describe it is... BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. Tables are usually filled and there are long lines. Yes, you guessed it - the food is that good AND the prices are reasonable. Now don't be discouraged... wait times can range from 10-30 minutes, but the line moves a lot faster than you think. Every dish I've tried is full of flavor. Nothing is greasy/oily, which is why their food stands out from the usual Chinese take-out places that can sometimes go way too heavy with salt, oil, and sugar. Portions are filling and are big enough to share if you're eating with others. My favorites are: Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings 5/5 - It's in the name of the restaurant itself, so this is a must try! The combination of the broth, meat filling, and soft texture of the dough is just *CHEF'S KISS* General Tso's Chicken 5/5 - This has to be my #1 favorite dish. It's simple, but executed so well. It's the perfect fusion of spicy, tangy, sweet, and savory. Sesame Chicken 5/5 - Another simple dish that is executed well. Can't go wrong. This is one of our go-to Chinese places in Bergen county, and we dine here probably once every month. We always get the soup dumplings, chicken soup, hot and sour soup, a sautéed vegetable dish, and a main dish. Service is fantastic with a very attentive and friendly staff. The decor is not fancy but clean and comfortable - like you'd find in Flushing or Chinatown, one providing authentic Chinese cuisine at a great value. It gets quite busy many nights (especially the weekend) so expect to wait a little if you are going at peak hours. read more

We were so surprised that such a great Chinese restaurant was just 5 minutes away by car. Now that we know about Soup Dumpling Plus, we'll definitely visit again - their soup dumplings, fried udon noodles and General Tso's Chicken are definitely stand outs. Located about a few minutes drive from the iPic theater, Soup Dumpling Plus is close to the heart of Fort Lee's koreatown. It is also very close to people living in Edgewater and other townships nears the George Washington. Also, if you are worrying about parking, you fortunately don't have to worry too much - there is a parking lot right below the building the restaurant is in and also street parking outside. When we visited Soup Dumpling Plus, it was very busy, but we fortunately were seated very quickly. After getting to our seats, the server gave us menus with pictures of the different dishes we could order along with a piece of paper to write down what we wanted to order. On our first visit, we ordered the General Tso's Chicken, fried udon noodles with pork, eggplant with chicken, fried string beans and an order of soup dumplings (aka Xiaolongbao). The soup from the xiaolongbao was super rich, and we both loved the chew to the fried Udon noodles. The fried string beans and eggplant were also solid vegetable dishes. But I personally liked the General Tso's Chicken the most. In terms of price, dinner at Soup Dumpling Plus was quite affordable. We ordered so many dishes but only spent around $36/person. Their buns are always so fresh and HOT (every food item that comes out is piping hot so watch your tongue if you're eating anything as soon as it comes out). Service is very quick and efficient. Very chill and casual. So far everything I've tried here is absolutely delicious but my favorites are their pork meat soup dumplings and their fried pork buns. Their crispy noodles and rice cakes are absolutely delicious as well! I mostly rely on metered street parking to get here. A bit scared to share just how good this place is because the lines to get in can be quite long. The soup dumplings here are truly to die for, and I've been to some of the best In Shanghai. They soup filling is sweet and savory and the outer shell is thin as it should be. My wife and I typically eat 3 to 4 portions each visit. But the dumplings aren't the only tasty dish, everything they serve is incredible. Another favorite of ours is the spicy shredded beef. But I warn you, it can be quite spicy. Their dishes are perfect for sharing with another person at a great price. This restaurant has tall booths that allow some sort of privacy too so I aim to sit there every time. As the saying goes, "If you ain't got no haters, you ain't poppin'". Well, Soup Dumpling Plus is ABSOLUTELY POPPIN', so they probably got plenty of hating from their competitors because this place was as crowded as any restaurant I've been to in a longgggg, longgggg time. We dropped in for dinner at around 6:20PM on a brisk Saturday evening. Perfect weather for warm soup dumplings. Our food choice for the evening, spot on, our timing? Complete miss. We arrived at the entrance of the restaurant, which is inside the Fort Lee Plaza Shopping Center, and we were greeted by a throng of hungry customers standing around the lobby of the shopping center. How many? Too many to count while hungry, but it all totaled to exactly a 1 hour wait, which felt like an eternity spent at the DMV. The surprising thing was that there was consistent turnover with parties of all sizes going in and out, but we just waited and waited and waited. My name never sounded better when they FINALLLY called us. One positive thing of note during our wait was that they gave every waiting party a printout of the menu so that you can mark down what you plan on ordering. Once you're seated you can hand the order sheet to a waiter/waitress and...well...the rest is history! (FYI, the menu is pretty typical of most Shanghainese restaurants. You're not going to run into a whole lot of surprises, but the menu WAS bigger and longer than most Shanghainese restaurants with a grand total of exactly 100 food items, yes 100!) Once my name was called, we were immediately whisked into the (I guess) larger dining room to the right of the entrance. Body heat was at an all-time high inside with the hot food sitting on customers' tables combined with everyone being in such close proximity. Within 5 minutes of being seated though, our food was already making its way onto our table - CHOWWWW TIME. We ended up ordering the following this evening: Jelly Fish Scallion Pancake Four Happiness Baked Bran w Peanut Pan Fried Pork Buns Sauteed Bok Choy w. Fresh Garlic Crispy Noodle w. Chicken Young Chow Fried Rice Steamed Pork Soup Dumpling Steamed Crab Meat & Pork Soup Dumpling I can't comment on each and every one, but we were VERY satisfied with all of the food. Everything was pretty spot on, with the exception of the Crispy Noodle with Chicken. It came out very hot, which, of course, is good, but the sauce overwhelmed the noodle and, by the time it sat on our table, the noodle was already soggy. It had major potential, but just wasn't crispy as advertised. As for everything else, the soup dumplings were excellent. LOTS and LOTS of soup inside each one and it was hot, which is a must for this dish. I've found that many Shanghainese restaurants don't make the dumplings with enough soup, but that doesn't apply here. All of our appetizers were good too and the Sauteed Bok Choy was extrraaaaa garlicky and flavorful, which we loved. The food came fast and furious throughout the evening and, despite being so busy, the place was like a well-oiled machine. It definitely wasn't their first rodeo. The next time that we come here, we will DEFINITELY come earlier for dinner or during an off-peak time. This restaurant was rightfully busy because of their really good food, but the efficient service definitely made the wait worth it as well, so word of advice - come earlier than you usually eat! read more

I came here on a friend's recommendation for soup dumplings. I got the soup dumplings, and agreed they were good but that was the only thing that was truly good with my meal. I also ordered the Chicken Herbal soup for one, scallion pancakes and garlic bok choy. To my disappointment, the scallion pancake was nothing but dough. There were barely any scallions in the scallion pancakes. The chicken herbal soup also had little to no herbal taste. All I tasted was the salt that barely brought out the essence of the chicken in the soup. The garlic bok choy had no garlic so it turned out to be just a plain sautéed bok choy with oil. read more

One of my easy go-to places for soup dumplings and other dishes. I've been to this place a multitude of times before and during peak dining hours it can be a bit hard to get in to. The entrance can be a bit hard to find due to location but I think it's well worth it. The staff are accommodating and the place itself is nicely decorated with seatings for a variety of groups. The food is sufficiently priced and I personally think the soup dumplings price is well worth it. I always get a multitude of them. The general tso's which I decides to get was also crispy and tender on the inside and provided a nice compliment to it. 100% would definitely recommend to friends. read more

Most food has been quite good - you mostly can't go wrong with anything (based on the different dishes ive had). This place is best known in the area for their Steam Pork Soup Dumpling (Xiaolongbao), which has been consistently good. The one dish I definitely would not get again is the Marinated Jellyfish. I've been coming here for 8+ years and ALL of the food here is quality and tasty. Let's start with the Soup Dumplings - the soup is plentiful with delectable umami-ness with perfect skin (just thick enough to hold the soup..."Don't break the skin, amateur!"). The Pan Fried Pork Buns are outstanding - super juicy and perfect with some chili oil. I've had and loved all of their Fried Rice-s - the ingredients are fresh/quality and has good "Wok Breath" (ask your Asian friends what that means). I also like to get the Chicken and Eggplant stir-fry - perfectly cooked umami combos with "Wok Breath". Honestly, I've not been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. This is a great busy neighborhood spot. No rezzies, so come early on the weekends, cuz there'll be a wait. Service is always fast and courteous. Parking is available, but does fill up. Of course the highlight were some the soup dumplings. Filled with lots of delicious broth. Paper thin wrapper as it should be. 6 good sized dumplings per order. The restaurant has many smaller tables that can be configured to bigger tables by moving around square tables. The plates are clean. Paper dinner napkins. Came to Soup Dumpling plus on a whim. I saw all of the good reviews so I had to check it out myself. It was easy to miss when driving there as the place is in sort of a mini mall with other stores and restaurants. There is parking underneath the building but i was able to find street parking. It was Friday night but didn't expect it to be so packed. We had to sign our name on the list and wait to be called. A table of two took about 15mins so it wasn't too bad. The place is BYOB. It's small with cute wall art. Being that it was called Soup Dumpling I expected more soup dumplings to be on the menu but there were few. We ordered the pan fried pork buns, vegetable dumpling, beef w/ broccoli, shrimp w/ broccoli and veggie fried rice. The shrimp and broccoli was not on the menu but we asked for it. Pan fried buns were excellent. They were juicy on the inside and flavorful. The veggie dumplings were good also. Both the beef and broccoli and shrimp and broccoli were excellent. They were very flavorful, plentiful and tasted fresh. The fried rice was excellent as well. It was lightly fried and full of flavor. We wanted to substitute the fried rice for our white rice and they wouldn't allow it so we just ordered a side. All of the food was very good so I could see why it was crowded.
