TLDR: Wok Bar is still one of my favorite places in the Fort Lee area. In fact, one of my favorite dry pot places - period. I remember when Wok Bar had first opened, this was before COVID but I'm glad they're still going strong. Not too much has changed, it's still self-service with a good selection and by the pound. What I like about Wok Bar is how clean everything tastes. Not nearly as greasy as most of the ones you'll find in Flushing or Manhattan. The spice can also get actually spicy as well. The staff was super friendly and greeted us right away. They helped explain the price and process before we got started. All if the options looked super crisp and fresh. The area was very clean. The whole restaurant was spotless when we visited. Staff brought our food to our table. It was ready after 5-10min. It came out nice and hot, cooked perfectly. The flavors blended well. Small typical local Chinese dry pot place/vibes. Honestly I love how clean it looks and feels too. Pick your own ingredients and spice level with a min of 1 pound. Can get really spicy really fast so be wise with the spice level you choose. It does get greasy and is more on the heavier side but always satisfies the craving that comes once in a while. My family ends up at Wok Bar pretty frequently. We all enjoy the food so when we can't decide on where to go Wok Bar is one of our safe choices. Basically you pick your fillings and put it in a basket. Then they weigh it and you can either get it in a soup or stir fried. They cook the food pretty quickly so it's not a bad choice for a quick meal. You tell them what level of spice you want and I always go for medium or lower. When they say it's spicy, it's SPICY. The medium can have me sweating a little bit it's still flavorful. They have a good variety of vegetables, noodles, fish balls, and meats to choose from. Though I think I like some of the variety at other places better. Overall it's a fun experience. During my last visit they were running an anniversary special for Hot Pot at $9.99/lb rather than the usual $14.99/lb. I decided to give it a shot for the first time. I wasn't much of a fan of the broth. It had a tanginess that I didn't really appreciate. I much prefer the dry pot. The service is friendly and the place is clean. They don't have a parking (though that's pretty standard in the area) so sometimes it gets annoying. I know I'll end up back at Work Bar in the future, but next time I'll stick to the dry pot (stir fry). read more

Came for the $10/lb special and was super worth!! The ingredients are very fresh and the mix of the spices for their dry pot is great. The "spicy" flavor is pretty strong. We got the Sesame Cold Noodles to try as well and loved the creaminess and nuttiness of it. They gave complimentary tanghulu for dessert, but we felt it was way too sticky for our liking. I've been in this area many times due to various group activities and have never tried this spot. My friend said this place is good and we decided to try. Like the name says - "Wok bar", you literally walk into a food bar and pick whatever you want in a huge bowl. Selection has meat, seafood, veggies. It comes at about $16/lb and comes with bowl of rice. Not too shabby. Then comes the interesting part- you pick cook in soup base or have a dry pot. You get to pick no spicy, medium, hot, very hot. I picked medium spicy and it was enough to turn my tongue on fire. There is a tea station by the entrance and they were serving date tea at the time. Date is like a sweet prune. It's not a huge place but you sit about 40 people I think. Service was good as they asked us if everything was ok and offered to fill up the tea for us. They don't have their own parking lot, street parking. Cheat tip: park at the strip mall across the street where BCD tofu house is. I found it not crowded on a Saturday night before a snow storm but did see a light crowd do take out. read more

The cashier will weigh your bowl, and you can choose to have them prepare a dry pot or a hot pot, in one of three spice levels. I usually go for level 2 spice since it's pretty spicy. They also offer a few other menu items, including grilled skewers, but I usually just get a bowl of dry pot. It costs $15.99 per pound, so the price can get pretty high depending on how much you fill your bowl. Service can be slow at times, but there aren't many dry pot options in the area. read more

I ordered takeout and the food was pretty subpar IMO. What I ordered: 1. Yeung chow fried rice - Not authentic. It was basically just spam fried rice with hardly any shrimps. 2. House special noodle - Not sure why it's "special" in any way. It was just noodles with scrambled eggs on top. 3. Sliced beef in hot chili oil - This one was good, but too little beef. 4. Kung pao chicken - This one was good as well. 5. Shredded pork in garlic sauce - Pork pieces were too thick and should've been cut more thinly. A clean little shop off Lemoine Rd and inside you are greeted and seated. There you can order some grilled items like skewers or food cooked off of the menu. If you want to have the dry hotpot, you get to pick up a bowl and tongs and then select the items you want from the refrigerator unit as well as the freezer for the meat. We had some skewers with squid and rice cake which were good, a little on the sweet instead of spicy side for small spicy squid tentacles. For the not spicy rice cake skewer, they still applied the cumin which was nice. The yang chow fried rice came out first, quick and hot, kids liked that. The eggplant in garlic sauce was sweet and a little spicy which I liked, using the thinner Japanese eggplant, but was very greasy. The glutinous rice cake had the soybean powder already placed on the rice cake which I actually don't like, and the brown sugar sauce was a bit light. The rice cake itself wasn't puffed up and fluffy like a well grilled or cooked version would be, it was a little actually disappointing. Most people come here for the dry hot pot though, and you have a great selection of a different vegetables and meats to choose from in your own quantity so you can design your own dry hot pot. Once you select your ingredients, they go to weigh it and cook it in the kitchen to your desired spiciness level. It was good at small spicy for me but I have had better overall flavor from other ma la dry hot pot shops. Next time we'll have to try medium spicy. Drinks here are from the cooler and can be a bit expensive, just ask how much before you take and drink if you're on a budget. read more

This is one of our favorite takeout places. We only get the dry hotpot and nothing else ever. Prices have been slowly creeping up though. Service is always prompt and friendly. It's serviceable for dining in but is more casual. More of a quick dining spot than somewhere you would go with friends for a long dinner. Almost everything for dry hotpot is great but I wish their beef slices are less fatty, they have more options for balls and that they have better rice (their rice is always slightly mushy). Great spot in NJ where you can build your own hotpot. Their service was not bad - they give you bottle water instead of tap water. And the restaurant interior was not too special (it's not like fancy restaurant). They have two options: hot pot & dry hot pot. It has the right spice level and fresh ingredient (you can pick your own ingredients & spicy level). Meats and veggies mixed with a perfection - not too sweet, not too spicy. BUT, I think the spicy level is different everyday. I usually order medium-level spicy, and sometimes it was really spicy and sometimes it was okay. Deliciously spicy. WokBar is a great spot for some Chinese dry pot. Really enjoyed going to Chinese food places with my friends in New York back in the day. Hard to find many Chinese food places in North Jersey that fully commit to Chinese cuisine rather than the asian fusion platter of having a mediocre selection Korean, Japanese, and Chinese food on your menu. Instead WokBar has a pretty simple selection of mostly just Dry and Hot Pot, and some skewer. Ordered Medium for the first time and it was great. Pretty salty and the rice is definitely needed, but thats how it normally goes with DryPot. If the saltiness is an issue for you , you could potentially ask them to alter it slightly for you. Price was pretty solid. My dish was around $24 and I had to save pretty much half of it. Would definitely come back to WokBar again to try a higher spicy level. read more

Then you go to the counter where they will weight your bowl and ask your spice level. All food is paid at the end of the meal in case you need to buy additional drinks or menu items. A little place where you can build your own mala/sichuan pot. The ambiance was casual. There's a refrigerator section where you grab a bowl and tongs to add ingredients to your pot. They had green veggies, mushrooms, chicken, fish, noodles, beef, lamb, beef balls, and fish balls. Since it's $15/lb, I wish there was a scale there so that we could be mindful of how much we might be paying. I like the idea of a self serve station, but at the same time, there's a lot of cross contamination since there isn't one tong for each ingredient. I chose to get a dry pot with tiny spicy level. If you can't handle spice, then do not go here because even tiny was pretty spicy. I wasn't dying and was still able to enjoy the food, but I definitely still needed a beverage to cool down. The coconut drink I grabbed was milky and sweet and cost around $3. They didn't offer us water for the table but I'm assuming the bottled water was free. My dry pot came with white rice, but I think if you get the hotpot, you don't get rice. The food was good, but I wasn't amazed by it. I would rather just go to spice 24 for the convenience. The food was great but I felt that the Medium spicy was much spicier than expected. If I go again, I will probably get the "tiny" spicy. They have a wide selection of ingredients to put into your mala hot pot or dry pot. I especially enjoyed the wide noodles and vegetable options that they have. Most of the food was fresh. It didn't make sense to me that you had to pay separately for water when dining in. You had to get a water bottle separately. We also got it ourselves from the fridge although there were two workers just standing there asking us if we wanted water. The service also wasn't great. We asked a question about how things worked but the server just gave one word answers and didn't fully answer our questions. A first time experience for Dry-pot Sichuan and it was epic. The Kid, who is into Sichuan and has a good palate for Sichuan Cuisine suggested Wok Bar after a long morning in the City. Known for their dry-pot and hot-pot Sichuan Cuisine what ensued was a brief explanation of the etiquette from the staff upon learning we were first-timers. A cold-case of uncooked veggies is the first step. Load a bowl using tongs with whatever veggies you desire. Lots of greens, broccoli, various type of mushrooms, tofu, noodles are available. Located in the same case is fish and raw chicken?!?! Step 2 is to pick your proteins from another freezer. Beef, pork and various fish balls are available. Bring it up to the counter and state which method of cooking, dry-pot or hot-pot, and spice level. I choose "Tiny" (the least spicy) and it was plenty spicy for me to break a sweat. The final cost is $14.95 per pound, uncooked. My mostly veggie, tofu and scant amount of Udon noodles clocked in at 1.29 pounds. The finished entree is brought to your table by the friendly and attentive staff. My meal was deliciously spiced with the Sichuan Peppercorns with spice and citrus aromas and numbing spice and a bit of citrus on the tongue. I will be back for more!! Terrible customer service. My food took almost 40 minutes to come out with 0 customers inside and I got 1 hot dry pot. I was dining in. The lady working as a waiter was just rude and very incompetent and demanded more tip when I already gave her the 5%. She wanted a bigger tip for doing nothing but standing there majority of the time. RIDICULOUS. Will not be coming back. Go to shabu house across the street. Great place for some very amazing Chinese food! This is probably the only place that has this style of Chinese cuisine. How it works is you pick out your own ingredients for the dish. For example, beef slices, meat balls, veggies. And then you bring it up to the cashier and you can select between the stir fried or soup version. Personally I prefer the dry stir fried version. The dry version comes with rice and the soup one doesn't. So if you do choose the soup version do get some noodles. read more

Hits the spot when you're craving Sichuan food! It's hard to find good dry pot except in Flushing, but this place's flavors are so authentic! We usually order through their app for pickup. The only downside is that they charge extra for the sauce online, which can't seem to be de-selected. I also usually write in the comments to ask for very mild even when you choose the selection for spice level. The ingredients that they use have always been fresh and well seasoned. It's a bit on the oily side which is what makes you keep going back for more. Their chicken dishes are also pretty big portioned and delicious. Came here for the first time on a rainy Sunday with my boyfriend while we were on plant-based diets. There were a few other parties, but more than I expected for a day with such dreary weather. The woman who greeted us was very friendly, a bit pushy, but overall sat us down quickly and gave us instructions on how to order. Basically, you grab a bowl, get the ingredients you want into the bowl, and then bring it to the front and ask them to cook it either dry-pot or hot-pot style. There are different spice levels to choose from as well. Medium is an alright spice, but if you are someone who enjoys spice a lot, I don't think medium is quite enough. There are enough vegetables that both my boyfriend and I were able to create bowls with no meat with ample variety. The actual flavoring is alright, but not the best mala taste I've had. Unfortunately, I found a hair in my bowl. They were VERY NICE and took the entire bowl off my bill, so I thought the service was quite good. I chose to get the broth, spicy hot pot. Step 3: Choose your spicy level: tiny, medium, or extra. I can tolerate mild spiciness so I chose "tiny", but it was still SUPER spicy for me. My tongue and nostrils were on fire lmao. Step 4: Bring your ingredients to the register then wait for them to cook and serve it to you. I loved how fresh the ingredients were, and the broth gave the dish a real spicy punch-in-the-mouth bursting flavor! The restaurant is very clean and the man who helped us was extremely friendly.
