We went to this sandwich shop and everything tasted incredibly fresh. The bread was soft and clearly fresh, and the ingredients tasted high quality and homemade. The customer service was very friendly and the food came out quickly. We went in on a Friday afternoon, there were not many people. We ordered the blackened chicken avocado and the turkey sandwich, and we will definitely be coming back again.

I just wanted a quick lunch, and I like sourdough bread. So this place is my choice. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich just to stay healthy. The veggies were nice and fresh. The most I liked was the sourdough bread. It was moist and fluffy -- the best sourdough bread I ever had. They have other protein options, like chicken, beef, sausage, and fish, if you want something more filling. The place is small, but there are a few tables you can sit comfortably and enjoy your meal. Come check it out. You'll find something you like!

I rarely give 5 stars and I have been to this establishment enough to grant this honestly. I am on dialysis and my home clinic was around the corner so I was coming here 3x a week. I have sense switched clinics closer to my home but I'm here now to bring my son to visit the owner because that's how amazing this place is. The food is fresh and many options and she actually cares about the customers. Give it a try and see for yourself. I get the blackened chicken with pesto, chicken salad special and the soups. Try anything on the menu for yourself!

Fate forced us here as we tried to find bagels after 2 pm on a Saturday to have the next morning. Well fate would have it that the Sourdough Bread Deli was the only place around that was open and still had bagels. The bagels here are huge, I'd say 50% larger than say an Einstein's bagel. Plus, they were light and airy instead of thick, and heavy like a hockey puck. This makes the perfect bagel for toasting and stacking with toppings. Toasts up perfectly and leaves a "crunch" as you bite. Apparently they only have three flavors, but it didn't bother me to have a plain instead of my regular favorite. Well packaged to keep them fresh for the next day. Thanks for the great product, we will be back to try some of your world famous sandwiches.

Located in a parking lot (adjacent to a gas station) is a completely unexpected hidden gem called Sourdough Bread Deli just waiting to be discovered. A Yelp suggestion led us here and this place definitely did not disappoint. We were greeted by Veronika, the attentive and friendly owner, with a smile upon entering and explained that it was our first visit. She gave us a little background on the business and explained that everything is baked fresh daily! You place your order (and also pay) at the front (there is a Menu on the wall) and it is brought out to you when it is ready. We ordered two Unsweetened Iced Teas, a Potato Salad, a small Reuben Sandwich (for me), and a small Roast Beef Sandwich (for Mom). Also purchased a Chocolate Chip Cookie which lent a perfect balance of brown sugar and chocolate chunks. All dishes excellent! The potato salad was a creamy and comforting classic reminiscent of childhood and truly hit the spot. The combination of potatoes, boiled eggs, savory onions, and crunchy celery provided the foundation for and an accompaniment to a delicious meal. The Sourdough was well-balanced while providing the perfect contrast, a noticeable depth of flavor, and the sauerkraut, dressing, and pastrami was the glue that held it all together. In a word? Fabulous! AND...it looked JUST LIKE the picture on the website! Solid 5 stars! I would certainly consider ordering this again on my next visit, but would rather try either the Chicken Parmesan or Chicken Pesto & Avocado and perhaps the Potato Leek Soup. The food here is clearly the star of the show. Ambiance is not at all the focal point. The service is attentive and it is clear that management knows what they are doing. I could definitely see this as our first choice and Sourdough go-to for subsequent visits. From the time we entered to the time we left, we witnessed Veronika and other employees/staff members hustling with rollerskates on and fulfilling online and dine-in orders. Apparently, this place gets pretty busy during the week and even more so on Saturday (they are closed on Sundays), but we arrived here around 10:30AM on a Tuesday morning and were able to find a table with no issues. We will certainly be returning!

Chicken Parmesan sandwich was excellent. Sourdough bread is better than San Francisco in my opinion.

The bread is not sourdough. I even asked the worker if they had any starter for sale and he was so confused at what I was saying. He had no idea what starter was. If you cook with sourdough, you know what sourdough starter is. The bread has no sourdough flavor. It's a very soft fluffy bread but it's not sourdough. Not good at all. Sorry. Response to owner: yes, it was definitely your place. And it was a male at the front. He had dark hair and an accent. I don't care that you don't sell the starter. I cared that he didn't know what starter was. That was not a good look for a sourdough bakery. The bread is not sourdough. No sourdough looks like that. Unless you are putting in a tbsp of it in the dough. I didn't like the bread. That's my experience and that's why yelp exists. If you can't handle the reviews, then remove yourself from yelp. Some people aren't going to like your food. That's ok. Be professional and move on. Continued response: owner now harassing me via yelp messages. AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS. Gross behavior on public display.

Happened to drive by this place one day, looked it up, and decided to try it out based on all the good reviews. It didn't disappoint and became my new go-to place for sandwiches. Recently, there has been a change of ownership for Sourdough Bread Deli. The new owners have worked very hard to keep the quality (and taste) of their food the same as before. They've done a great job. Prices have climbed recently but that is pretty true for nearly every restaurant post-pandemic. Still has a small deli atmosphere with owners that are friendly and aim to please their customers. I come here when I can because the sandwiches simply taste great. The bread is unique and delicious. A must try deli for sure. read more

My wife and I recently chose this place based solely on yelp reviews. Trust me, driving by I never would've stopped, based on the modest exterior. What a miss that would've been. I love sandwiches and I have to say that this place is the bomb. It's very simple, letting the food speak for itself. I spoke with the proprietor and was very impressed by her friendliness, the quality of the food, the low prices and the fact that everything was incredibly fresh. The sandwiches are larger than you would possibly think they could be for the money. The bread was very clearly made a couple of hours earlier, and you get to choose the kind you want. Skip the national chains and do yourself a favor by eating here once. I can guarantee you'll be back. read more

Visiting from California & was fortunate enough to grab a sandwich from this little gem! I ordered a medium sausage & peppers sandwich & it was so delicious! Ample slices of Italian sausage with peppers & melted cheese , sandwiched between the yummiest home baked round roll! The cost of my sandwich was an incredible bargain & would gladly have paid more for it! The couple who own this establishment were incredibly nice as well! read more

What an incredible surprise that I found this wonderful deli/sandwich place! The guy who owns and runs and cooks in this place bakes his own sourdough bread every day. Talk about fresh! And, he uses only the best flour (a special kind of King Arthur Flour)! Their sandwiches are always made just right and their meats and garnishes are fresh and tasty too. They also have salads and cooked lunches with salmon, chicken, etc. and always have fresh avocados! They make fresh ice tea there every day too! Excellent. Sandwiches: Really really really good bread that is warm, chewy, crisp, salty and slightly sour all at the same time. The meats were all very tasty. I had the rescue and my dad had the chicken club. The sandwiches are HUGE so i actually suggest splitting a sandwich. Potato salad and cole slaw were both solid, you can tell they're both made in-house. The owner is a really nice guy and you can really tell how much love he puts into his sammies and how proud he is of his breads. read more

If wet lettuce is your thing, then you will love this place. Wet lettuce on my sandwich making it slippery and falling apart. Gross. Wet lettuce on my salad, making the cheese soggy, oh and full round tomato slices on the salad, sandwich slices. They couldn't even take the time to cut it up for a salad. I'll never patron this place again. Save your money if you can. What a waste. read more

My husband and I got two sandwiches for lunch: Rescue (turkey, salami, ham) and chicken pesto avocado. It traveled about 20 minutes east and the sandwich held very well on the drive home. The bread is excellent: crust exterior and soft interior. The ingredients were simple, but of excellent quality. Along with each sandwich was a side of potato salad, which had a hint of mustard. I don't like mustard in potato salad but I still enjoyed their version. The deli is a simple, casual and no-frills spot. The owner is very friendly and nice to talk to. We learned from him that the bread in house is made with high quality ingredients, which is definitely evident in the delicious bread. Overall, this is a great hidden gem for sandwiches in Plano. read more

This was an increasingly difficult place to rate, only because there was nothing wrong with anything. But nothing exceptional either. This place is exactly as advertised as a small Deli and they give you a great deal for the price. The lunch special comes with a medium sandwich, salad/chips and a drink for under $6. I ordered the chicken salad and was satisfied by the size of the sandwich. The bread was probably the highlight of the meal as it was warm and freshly made sourdough as the restaurant name implies. The potato salad was a bit odd and tasted too tart for my liking. Would come back if I was feeling a quick sandwich during lunch. read more

First timer, I came after reading the reviews. I asked "what's better, the chicken salad sandwich or the Reuben?" His response: "if I don't like it, it's not on my menu." Solid start. So glad we found this place. Had the sausage and peppers sandwich and the chicken cordon bleu. Both were really good sandwiches with great flavor. Owner pointed out that everything is homemade and they only use fresh ingredients. The sausage and peppers sandwich had amazing flavor: nice grilled peppers mozzarella cheese and a great serving of sliced sausage. They cut their round sandwiches in half and it's very filling. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was just as delicious with chicken, slices of ham and flavorful cheese and sauce. It's been a few days and I'm still thinking about the sandwiches we had. Looking forward to trying more from their menu. read more

Don't know how we missed this place as we live so close by, but this is a hidden gem (even though lunch orders were being placed and delivered like a scene out of the Fast and Furious). From the fresh bread (omg the bread) and ingredients, flavor, value and friendly owners, this place is top notch! This will be the go to sandwich place for my wife and I on a weekly basis. This place is a sandwich lover's dream. I have ordered here twice now and cannot wait for the next time I am in the area to stop by again! Portion sizes are very large but the extra food I couldn't eat allowed for some delicious leftovers! There's a fast casual deli chain based out of Austin located near the Sourdough Bread Deli. This place beats it on all counts - forget the chain food. Sourdough is a little bit of a hole in the wall, and I really wish they took online orders, but the fresh breads and quality ingredients are extremely tasty. read more

I went there based upon the Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. The Chicken Pesto Sandwich was the best I've had anywhere, period. The sourdough bread was soft and the sandwich was bursting with flavor. I loved it! Note that there is no atmosphere (i.e., they could use some background music), but I did not go there for anything but the food. I'm glad I did. read more

I'm so glad I stopped by here to check this place out. The lady and gentleman that helped me was super nice but not aggressive which I really appreciate. I love love sourdough bread. This place makes theirs fresh...bonus. I ordered the tuna salad sandwich combo with chips and drink and was less than $8 with tax and tip. The sandwich was delicious and fresh. It reminded me of a New York City delicatessen. This place is a hole-in-the-wall, mom & pop establishment so don't expect fancy shmancy decor and design but it has a lot of potential to become a vintage 1930ish sandwich shop which would be awesome. They are still a new business, about 7 months, so they have plenty of time to build capital and make upgrades. I love that this place is a small local business with great food and competitive prices.
