Thanks to YELP, we found this hidden gem. Very unique sandwich place. Fresh sourdough bread daily gives the sandwich character of it's own. My husband devoured the pastrami sandwich and equally enjoyed his Reuben sandwich. I had the house sandwich and it was great but going for the Pastrami next time. The sourdough bread was huge. This is probably the best deli place I have ever been to in Texas! It is a very small and family owned business, and the owners and staff are so kind! The sourdough bread is phenomenal! This is a total dive and totally worth a stop. 1st - the bread is baked fresh every day. It's sourdough and round, like Schlotzskys (but far more tender and tasty). 2nd - specials! Small sandwich (which is huge), chips and a drink for $4.99. Regular sandwich, chips and a drink for $5.99. There's a preset list of sandwich choices on the special menu but there are lots to choose from. 3rd - everything is homemade and high quality. The owner, Cyrus, and his wife are the original owners/chefs behind the far north Dallas classic Giovanni's. We used to love eating back there in the day and are so happy they've popped back up all these years later with an awesome deli. The location is sketch. It looks like a (clean) dive inside and out. There's not an order counter - you walk up to a countertop where supplies and a cash register are sitting. Tell Cyrus what you want, his wife makes it and that's that. There are a limited number of tables and chairs for you to eat in if you like. They're closed on Sundays, open 11-7 other days and only deliver on Saturdays. Honestly, don't be turned off by the look of the place. This is a seriously great sandwich shop. A true hidden gem in south central Plano. read more

"Sorry have to pick up kids will me back at 330" door was locked and people still inside. they also had there big OPEN sign flashing as if they were open. I am always in search of a new, fresh and delicious local sandwich shop. I don't know how Sourdough Bread Deli has eluded me for so long, but I have found "Mannah From Heaven". Think Schlotsky's, but actually addicting. I had the Chickdb Pesto & Avocado (as a suggestion from the friendly gentlemen at the counter" and it was 100% on point. This was quite possibly the most delicious, perfectly baked Sourdough Bread I have tasted in this decade and beyond. The chicken sliced think and delicately with an abundance of freshly sliced avocados. The percfect amount of dressing and this is the sandwich I have been searching for for years. We also had the potato salad and the potato leek soup which were also both winners!! The old adage once again proves true; the hidden gems aren't always in plain site. What a little gem! Great sandwich and salad options at a very good price, and the owner was so personable and friendly. The atmosphere was very cutsey and demure, much like my grandmothers kitchen, but this grandma's kitchen had a secret up it's sleeve: the best sandwich I've ever had. The pesto avocado, chicken sandwich not only took me to a different planet, but much like the church of Scientology invaded my solar system with a foreign entity that changed my perception of reality. Our favorite Plano hidden gem and amazed that it's not more popular than it is. It's not in a great location, so it's easy to miss. We love their sandwiches and try to go at least once every couple of weeks. Usually order from their website and pickup. Great sandwiches and tasty soups. For the price and what youre receiving, its hard not to love this place. Walking in, you'd think this could have easily have been a donut shop or nail salon based on the lack of decor and size. Youll more than likely be immediately greeted by the couple who run the place. They are so meek and kind as they smile and proudly show off whats on the menu. I decided to order the small Rescue on white and small Rueben on wheat to get a good idea of what each tasted like. The bread is truly fantastic here. Spongy, soft, with a little bit of funk to make it a true sourdough experience. The first thing that stands out is how cheesy the sandwiches are here. Even with what appears to be shredded cheddar, its warmed just right to meld everything together but not change the texture of things. The meats are solid, the veigges are refreshing, and I didnt even notice that they use a small amount of condiments. One thing I will mention is the reuben they serve is certainly not your typical reuben. Once you get past that, its still a good sandwich. The owner wanted to show off his potato salad, and Im glad he did! Holy crap it was good. It may have been one of the best potato salads Ive ever had! Never have I thought I wanted potato salad so bad than now! Even with it being mayo based instead of mustard base, the potato salad sings life like a chanting choir on the mountain tops. So much power from its flavor that it will melt your troubles away and force you to appreciate the true wonder of its alluring sorcery. If you want a sandwich and youre in the area, eat here. Dont have a slice of pizza or hotdog at sams club, dont have nasty tacos from taco cabana, eat here if youre in this particular area!! read more

I had the pesto chicken sandwich. Wow! It was delicious! The bread is the right amount of crispness on the outside and soft on the inside. It literally melts in your mouth. The flavors of this sandwich are excellent. Service was speedy and the food was delivered with a smile. The restaurant itself is small with a few tables. Most people get take out, but we ate there. We stopped here for a late lunch on a Saturday two weeks ago. I had the sausage and peppers sandwich. My wife had a reuben. She was very happy with hers. Good flavor. My sandwich was very good, I just hoped for more oomph in the sausage. Not super hot. Not super sweet. Good middle of the road sausage, just not what I was looking for that day. Great sandwhiches, friendly service. My boyfriend and I went for the first time and had a great experience. It's a tiny shop that can be hard to spot from afar, but the sandwhiches are worth everything. They are a great deal for the amount you get with the price, and taste so good! The bread is fresh made by the owners and the chicken is freshly marinated overnight, which we discovered from the manager who was very friendly to us. Thanks for having veggie options on the menu. The eggplant parmesan sandwich on house-baked bread was fantastic. I'll be back to try the regular veggie sandwich. My only gripe is that they use styrofoam cups and containers, which are tough on the environment. Hopefully they'll switch to paper products in the future. read more

Oh my...This was a random sandwich stop and is now pinned. The warm fresh sourdough will drag back here regularly. My blackened chicken with avocado was fresh, large and beyond satisfying. My Mom had a chicken parm sandwich and had to take half home (I offered to take the half and got a "hell no you won't"). Very friendly family service and fresh deli items available too. The place reminds me of the many "sub shops" back home in the Northeast, except those places don't bake their own bread. She ordered the Roast Beef sandwich and I had the Tuna Salad Sub. She wanted a Sub as well...but they only had 1 Sub roll remaining until they could make more later. Prices are VERY reasonable! Service was fast and friendly. We both enjoyed our lunch very well. Why not 5 stars? Maybe it was just a fluke in timing as they were down to 1 Sub roll....and making more...or not. This cost a star here. I fully expect them to get the 5 star review on my next visit.
