Excellent garlic bread that melts in your mouth

Hubby & I had dinner here last night for the first time. We arrived around 5:00. We were greeted & seated right away. All of the staff were very friendly & welcoming. The restaurant is like going to a family member's house, but also a restaurant. Very welcoming. We ordered waters. Hubby had a beer & I had a vodka and cranberry juice. The draft was broken so hubby got a bottle. It could have been a little colder. The cocktail was smooth, but a little light on the pour. We ordered a salad, full order of garlic bread with marinara sauce & a XL number 4 pizza (sausage) & added mushrooms. The salad picture is deceiving because it is a lot. It was good. The garlic bread is excellent. Like no other garlic bread we have had before. It's light & fluffy. It melts in our mouth. The marinara is so red & full of flavor. We love sourdough bread and the original crust did not disappoint. We could taste the sourdough. The toppings were plentiful. Service was good; just a little slow, but she was really busy. It's a drive for us, but we will be back for sure.

Full disclosure this follow-up is based on a party of 23. During our last visit my wife made reservations for a Ladies Lunch. The restaurant was confident they could accommodate a party this size. The restaurant clearly has the physical space but the Kitchen and table service fell short. Some orders went to other tables outside the party, other tables orders came to the party. The end result was not everyone enjoyed lunch at the same time. Lessons for us. Don't make reservations for large groups. We've been there before easily handling 6-8 and I feel it's important to credit them for this! There is a limit to the kitchens and server's capacity for large groups nothing more. Most important By no means does this reflect in the quality of their food, nor does it discourage us from patronizing them!!

My Yelp Bestie Chelsey H. and I decided to stop by this location for a weekday dinner. We both had visited prior, but had been years since but we recalled the pizza being delicious and unique in flavor. The parking lot is very spacious, and we were immediately welcomed by very festive decor for Halloween. This alone will likely have us return, so we can see what they do each holiday/season! To start we ordered a salad and some sides. When I saw potato salad on the menu, I knew I had to try as I love potato salad. Sadly, it was super sweet, like they used coleslaw dressing causing it to be sweet/tangy. It was definitely odd and we both ended up leaving it as we could not finish. Though that was odd, all the other food was amazing! I really love the taste of the sourdough pizza. The service was great even though it was a busier night. Our waitress was very attentive and loved the chocolate eyeballs for a spooky treat to accompany the bill. The prices are amazing and I'll definitely be returning soon when I'm craving a sourdough pizza!

Sourdough Pizza Italian Restaurant, located in Mesa, AZ, has been a staple in the community for over 20 years. Offering a unique twist on traditional Italian cuisine, the restaurant prides itself on their signature sourdough pizza, known for its delicious flavor and crispy crust. This restaurant has always been a topic of discussion in my family. It was great to enjoy a nostalgic meal with my cousin, Diele K! Upon entering, the restaurant does feel dated but in a charming way. When we went, it was decorated for the applicable holiday - loved it! The parking lot is shared with surrounding businesses, but very large and easy to find a spot to without too much of a walk. The service was quick and friendly. Diele and I shared a garden salad to start, which had mushroom, cucumbers, tomatoes, and croutons ($6.30). The baked zucchini (half order $4.25/whole order $7.10) was simple, but still good and the potato salad was not really my favorite. It was too sweet, but that may be personal preference. We also had a cheese pizza, it was so good! I forgot the size we ordered - I think we did the 10 inch ($11.35)! I personally love sour dough and feel it makes a different in the crust. Definitely will need to stop in again when I'm in the area!

My absolute favorite is their fresh Antipasto Salad and warm Ciabatta bread. I highly recommend ordering a side of their scampi butter for the bread. Yum! This visit, I had the Baked RigaTony, and my daughter ordered the Deep Dish Lasagna with marinara sauce. Both dishes were excellent--hot, flavorful, and generously portioned. We've always loved the food and have recommended it to so many people over the years. We recently saw the $25 family special that included a baked rigatoni, salad, and bread for 3-4 people, so we decided to give it a try and ordered curbside pickup. Unfortunately, we were really disappointed when we got home. The order only came with 4 small pieces of bread, and the baked rigatoni with sausage had only about one whole sausage sliced throughout the entire 3-4 person portion. For a meal advertised to feed 3-4 people, we expected there to be enough sausage for everyone to actually get a serving. It felt like the protein was cut way back, which made the meal feel incomplete. We're not writing this because we don't like Rigatony's - we genuinely do, and we'll most likely continue coming back because we've had so many great experiences over the years. We just hope this was a one-time issue or that they reconsider the portions for this special, because it didn't live up to the quality and value we've come to expect from a restaurant we've loved for so long.

Fads like chili on everything only serve one purpose, to demolish traditional recipes to align with the now predominant "heat" in everything! We came to celebrate a birthday and have a nice dinner: mission accomplished! Started the evening with cocktails and S.pellegrino water as always. The "Knucklehead" cocktail is bourbon based with bitters and pear liqueur; I had to try the "I'll Guav Another" and Yes, I had another, it's very more-ish :) The service was excellent and our server was on point with descriptions of dishes and the continued service. The ambiance was very similar to restaurants back in Milano, noisy because people were chatting and having a good time. Thankfully there were no sports TV's close by making for a very pleasant evening out. I had the pasta alle vongole (clams) that was very tasty; I would have liked a bit less oil and fresh parsley on top, but I honestly ate the whole thing and even mopped up the lemon and white wine sauce with the crusty bread they served. We call it "fare la scarpetta" in Italian. The other diners had a chicken dish that looked good too but I didn't taste them, was too engulfed in my pasta... We had a really good meal, the company was great, and we left well sated. Will be back when on their side of town !

We made reservations at Pizzicata in anticipation of both Valentine's Day and the need to re-carb after the event. We arrived at the host stand a few minutes before our reservation, but were told that there were no indoor tables available. If we wanted to be seated immediately, we'd have to accept an outdoor table, even though we had a reservation for indoor seating. We opted to wait because the weather was chilly by Arizona standards, and we were still recovering from the race. A couple of minutes later, another hostess approached us and asked whether we had reservations and were waiting. When we confirmed, she immediately left to find us a table, and we were seated very shortly afterwards. I thought very little of this until the owner came to our table and apologized for the issue. He was kind and sincere in his regret for the situation and was excited to tell us about the staff and the food. We were wildly appreciative of this attention to detail and service! We shared the potato croquettes, and they were everything I was hoping they'd be and more. (Light lore: I chose Pizzicata because I saw a picture of these croquettes on their online menu.) For dinner, my husband had the Travolta pizza, and I had the gnocchi gorgonzola. We both did that thing where we sat back in our chairs, breathed deeply, and declared, "oh dang, that's goooood." We were both so happy with our choices - I can't speak to the pizza, but that was some of the best gnocchi I've ever had. Pillowy soft in this perfectly nutty, cheesy, creamy sauce. *chef's kiss* For dessert, we shared the tiramisu, which was perfect in every way. If we weren't already walking funny because of the race, we'd have still waddled out of Pizzicata from happy fullness. The service, the food, the vibe - we're here for it and we'll be back the next time we're in Mesa.
