I signed up for service from this company in 2016 for a termite infested old mobile home. They were to write a report and treat the infested areas 4 times a year for 200.00. The last time they came they wrote the report and said they would not treat the areas because I was selling the mobile home. The new owner did not want it rented by them and I asked for a reduction as I only got the report. They Said I owed 225.00 regardless. We chose several termite companies with high scores on yelp to give us free estimates on getting rid of an infestation. Shawn's extensive examination was the only one that actually found termites. He offered solutions that ran from tenting to local treatment. Since the only evidence was in the eves of our large, accessible attic and two exterior window sills AND since we have a roof covered with ancient tiles we opted for their local treatment procedure. I am a semi-retired science teacher of 40 odd years and very familiar with the chemicals used. The gas used by most fumigators is a MAJOR contributor to our world greenhouse gas problem so I was even more inclined to go with the more benign, local treatment. My slumlord hired this company to handle a rat issue back in October. Since it's December and I'm writing this review, this obviously won't go or end well. First, let me say that Ron W. is a good service person but is probably just with a bad company. He was the first one to come out and assess our situation. Laid out a bunch of traps, caught a bunch of rats, and plugged up the entry points. However, after leaving some traps, SCE did not schedule for Ron to come back for a week, which lead to a dead rat decomposing and causing my business to shut down for 4 days. Since Ron couldn't make it out some other service person came out and left parts of the dead rat and maggots with it. Today they came out again but refused to perform work that they were supposed to, and stormed out. After calling Nora their service rep and telling her what happened, the company took sides with their service person (who would be fired in 100 out of 100 situations had it been witnessed by anyone from the company). I'll simply conclude with, Buyer Beware. read more

They came out to my home, did the inspection, wrote a repair order which included a description of repairs and materials to be used, stated in writing they would supply materials and perform the work. They showed up to the appointment, they set, late and without the materials. I called the company and expressed I understand being late, but showing up without the materials was pointless and a waste of my time. The work has NOT been done. We've had an unusal amount of ant farms pop up do to the heat and they invaded my kitchen and bathroom looking for water. The gal was friendly and was able to schedule someone that morning. They arrived within 2 hours and placed several plastic bait stations in the effected areas then went outside and sprayed .... haven't seen an ant since! My parents used this company for 27 years on a yearly contract for Termites. Over the years, several methods were used to eliminate the pests and make repairs. The contract was sold to my parents with the implication that when the house was sold that nothing more then a inspection would be required to close escrow. In May, the bill was paid and the service person came out and did a very brief inspection. He found no termites and no damage needing repairs. In September we sold the house. I told the Escrow company to use So. Cal Exterminators as my parents had the yearly service. Its only been four months since the last inspection and everyone thought that the Escrow inspection was just going to be simple, however it wasn't. A different inspector came out to the house and found all kinds of problems. No termites, which would have reflected on their company, but all kinds of damage that would need repair. $750 to be exact, for repairs that four month ago did not exist. If they repaired the damage, they would wave the re-inspection, however if the work was not performed by them, it would cost another $85. I personally feel that the company looked at the fact that the contract was ending and figured it was their last chance to squeeze more money out of the client. On top of the repairs that they identified, their repair person did not show up as scheduled and the close of escrow was delayed three days. Then to put salt on the wound, they sent an invoice to my Mother requesting payment, when the bill was paid through escrow. If I had not been watching my Mothers mail, they might have been paid twice for work that should never have been needed. I assigned two stars to this company instead of one because I do believe that my parents felt that they were getting a good service through the year. However, the last experience is what I have to base my review upon. If they had not come back with additional repairs required to close escrow which is what everyone expected, I would have given them 4-5 stars. We just felt that when they knew the service contract was ending, they took advantage of the situation versus taking care of their customer of 27 years. read more

There was a few occasions when the technician couldn't make it. Usually, they are good about calling you for reminders. I've used So. Cal Ex for a number of years. In all that time, I've been fortunate enough to have one staff member, Erik, who knows the house and its issues. I am very comfortable with him and his assessment. He always calls ahead to confirm arrival time, is very careful about cleaning up after himself, and is able to come on Saturdays which is my preferred time. I find him to be very professional as well as personable. Thanks, Erik, you're the best, see you next year! My only comment about the company itself is, they don't seem well-coordinated re scheduling appointments. After I scheduled a call, I got two different voice messages asking me to schedule an appointment. Of course, each time I called back, as I was concerned my initial appointment was invalid. We have used Southern California Exterminators for many years. They not only solve but also help to prevent problems. The staff members are courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Our first termite technician from their company found that a previous contractor had left excess wood in our crawl space that was attracting termites. He disposed of it for us. He also saw some areas of the foundation that needed anchoring. We contacted a seismic engineer that did the work and said the technician knew what he was talking about. Now, we are selling our house and the termite inspector was just here. We told him we have Southern California Exterminators do an inspection and preventative treatment each fall.
