Catfish, fried shrimp, Cajun crab fries
    Aaron T.

We ordered the catfish and shrimp combo, which should have came with two sides, but it only came with one. We ordered cheesy grits, mac and cheese, and jambalaya on the side. Unfortunately, the beignets were unavailable. The jambalaya tasted like something straight out of a box - 2/10. The mac and cheese was a 4/10. The grits were decent but definitely needed salt and pepper. The catfish was extremely thin, and the shrimp were also very small. I honestly expected more authentic Southern Soul food flavors and a more welcoming experience. Unfortunately, it just didn't live up to what I was hoping for. On a positive note, the pricing was decent for the area. However, I wasn't greeted when I came up to the counter, which made the experience feel very unwelcoming overall. Sadly, I probably won't be back and can't really recommend it based on this visit.

Frozen crab fries and 2 piece catfish po boy.

Ordered po boy with cat fish and crab fries. I was suppose to get 3 piece of fish and only got 2 and the crab on top of the fries was frozen. Ask to use Inkind to pay and said he they had no idea how to use it

We were so excited to see Southern Comfort Kitchen open up a restaurant closer to us in the San Pedro Market Square in San Jose! We have been a fan of theirs at their Castro Valley location for years! This is more of a "food stall" with a slightly smaller menu than their other location. One kiosk to order from. Plenty of seating options inside and outside and plenty of restrooms spread out throughout the marketplace. We ordered the... 50/50 w/ Cajun Fries: Half this and half that pick 2 of the following 2pc Mississippi Catfish fileted, 4 Gulf Shrimp, 2 Oysters 2pc Chicken Strips served w/ remoulade sauce & your choice of 1 side. Blackened Shrimp w/ Grits: 7 Gulf Shrimp pan seared w/ blackened seasoning, garlic, butter, worcestershire infused creamy Abita Beer Sauce on Cheesey Grits. Brussels Sprouts: Fried crispy with a drizzle of maple syrup, sea salt, and black pepper. Jambalaya: Their famous Cajun rice dish with the trinity, chunks of chicken, beef and pork andouille sausage, and spices topped with green onions (no pic). Come check them out. I was lucky enough to just happen upon their pre-opening few months ago and tried them out. The store wasn't listed on yelp or google at the time so I didn't write a review at then, so this is all coming from my memory. I was in San Pedro for a beer and saw that there was a brand new store. Southern comfort food. I thought heck, let's try it! I've been to the deep south few times for work as well as New Orleans, and I absolutely loved the southern food. But, I didn't expect much to be honest, since it is in middle of San Jose. Although south bay got some amazing places like the Jackie's Place (I have to do a review on them someday), it's not really not known for southern comfort food. I've got their catfish po'boy and got the fries upgraded to crab fries. When the food came out with the generous portion, I was already feeling good. I took a bite out of the sandwich and hit with a shock. It was just like, or even better than many of the authentic cat fish I've had in the south. The cornmeal around the fish had the perfect flavor and texture that you really can't find outside the south. The sauce and the bread all worked out in unison. The crab fries had plenty of crab and went amazing with the seasoned fries and the condiments. I'm so excited to have this place as the new addition to San Pedro. It's right near market beer company so it's great to enjoy the food wish some refreshing beer. I kind of like this other building in San Pedro since it's usually much more chill than the main one, so the atmosphere is on point for me. Staffs were nice and friendly too. I am sure to come back for more, many times.

    Chicken Sandwich

Delicious!! All around. I had the grits and the flavor was great! I had a bite of my boyfriend's sandwich and it was wonderful, we originally wanted to order the hot chicken, but the staff member informed me it was sound out when I asked after I didn't see it on the ordering kiosk. Ooo and the beignets were so tasty too! Love a sweet treat! The friendly staff and delicious food definitely make it a great addition to San Pedro Square!

Happy they're in san jose so I dont have to commute to their east bay locations. Craving their muffaletta, andnit didnt disappoint Their fish was suuuper juicy. And I could've done without their tenders this time. Also, ordered crab fries, and I failed to check my box before leaving. Love thay they put the sauce on the side, but wasnt as great as past experiences aside from SJ.

    Danny V.

The fries tasted stale and not enough shrimps or fries in the po boy I love y'all's OG restaurant but I don't think the SJ location represents y'all well. Compared to your IG posts it doesn't look up to par. I also sent this to their Instagram to give them feedback and was left on read.

The food is so bomb. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. We are frequent visitors of san pedro square market and this is exactly what they've been missing. One person was running the resto and they were so energetic and kind!

    Fried Mississippi Catfish

I only asked for no pickles and this sandwich came bare booty naked. They advertised it as if it came with fries, IT. DID. NOT. this shit was $16 for just bread and fish with sauce. Mind you, the pieces of fish weren't even that big. i am so mad i spent this much money for that little food. not worth it. they wanna know what they could improve? give me some fries.

    chicken sandwich with fries
    Joseph C.

service was good nothing crazy friendly or anything, food was honestly mid and a let down, got the chicken sandwich with the slaw on the side instead of on it and im glad i dis because it was bad, kfc slaw hits harder tbh. the fries were very overcooked and crisp while some were soft. ( my friend ordered a sep batch of fries and theirs came out much better so unsure of the inconsistency) the chicken sandwich itself was eh. lots of other food spots to go to instead of this at this market square! :)

I was craving some shrimp and grits, so we decided to try out Southern Comfort. The hubbys Who Dat chicken was delicious and the sauce was flavorful. My shrimp and grits was a bummer. Grits are not supposed to be soup, but alas here we are. Hush puppies were a bit overcooked but delicious. The Mac and cheese was ok, I liked they used shell pasta. Maybe they were having an off day, it happens.

I saw this place on DoorDash and I wasn't sure what to expect really. Well expectations were meet & exceeded. The food was so amazing! It was so good & flavorful I had to share with my friends. For lunch I ordered the mac n cheese (without breadcrumbs), red beans & rice, and 50/50 catfish and shrimp. I wanted to sample as much as I could so happy I did! Definitely will be ordering from here again!! In fact I will be taking my friends to this restaurant for lunch in a couple weeks. I know it will be better fresh out the kitchen!

Thank you so much Brett and Jihad for the great hospitality and scrumptious food! We needed a taste of Nola in the Bay. Highly recommended.

Hey there Party People…read more I've been to the Table several times since my first review for the restaurant and just felt I needed to restate the obvious....this place is great. Hubby and I wanted to have brunch The Table is the best spot. You can get bottomless Mimosas for a very reasonable price. But first and foremost the food is what you go for. Not to mention you can take a very pleasant walk along Willow street and check out the shops after a great meal. The menu really lends to sharing plates so you can really get your foody on. We had the beignets to start. Made with ricotta and lemon curd for dipping. The beignets were very moist and a little dense because of the ricotta. The sugar coating was light and the crust was perfectly crunchy. What really made the beignets sing was the lemon curd dipping sauce just added a deep layering of flavor. Then there was the Heirloom Tomato salad with artichoke hearts. It was a tasty bite. The fry on the artichoke hearts was light bringing out the artichoke flavor. The treatment of the heirloom was clean simple and the whole dish together was just wonderful. Finally we had the Chicago Roast beef sandwich. It was huge and made me glad that we were splitting the dishes. The sandwich really reminded me of the east coast because of the peppers and carrots medley that was on the sandwich, which packed a fantastic little kick to wake up the pallet. Their Au Jus dipping sauce brought the hold combination together. Per my Hubby, who is a real Roast Beef lover, the whole sandwich was next level. If you're in Willow Glen and you don't eat here you have missed out on a wonderful experience. Be kind to one another
