When I heard there was a new Texas BBQ in town, I had to check it out. I was very impressed by the personalized service and attention. I saw the "Southern Luv" that was going into this cooking. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, Carolina. First thing I noticed was how tender the meat was. It was flavorful without being fatty. And the sauce was tangy, kinda sweet but not over powering. We tried Southern Luv last night didn't realize they were new (6 months). Very good food brisket was good, tater tots perfect and my wife who likes coleslaw said it was excellent. Chef Essi is a great owner speaking to guests and telling their story. If you weren't thinking of his dessert banana pudding is excellent. He brought us a sample to try before we left. It was excellent and made in the restaurant. Everything here is fresh and prepared well. The only thing I would have liked was a cornbread, I think the only thing he is missing. They were hot, crispy, and covered in some kind of addictive, magical seasoning. Best brisket I've ever had in Tampa. And the smoked sausage is incredible, on par with my favorite in town (to this point!) Had a good sampling of other stuff- mac & cheese, Totchos, BBQ beans, my friend had the Carolina pulled pork. All of it was great. We'll be back. read more

This is definitely some of the best if not the best BBQ I've had in the area. It blows all of the chains out of the water. Brisket is smoked for 12 hours and is so tender and flavorful. The pulled pork is also fantastic. We got the Hot Texan sandwich, totchos, a side of Mac and apple pie and all were delicious - I don't even think I could pick a favorite but I will say that side of Mac makes me want to try one of the bowls next time. Portion sizes are generous and I'm not sure why everyone is shocked by the prices, this is actually on the lower side for BBQ in my opinion. Ordered the pulled pork Mac and cheese and the que-bano was one of the best sandwich's I've had in a really long time. Had the baked beans and coleslaw and they were great sides and portions and their house made chips are a great snack. I got my stuff to go so pics would not do it justice.
