The initial experience with this office was positive, from verifying my insurance, scheduling a consultation, and receiving the new patient packet. However, the very same day that I emailed my completed packet, I got a call stating that Dr. Ahmed has decided to stop performing bariatric surgery and is closing down this practice. So, my consultation is cancelled, and I am back to square one looking for another surgeon. At least I was in the early stages. I hope he isn't screwing over the patients who were already in the process of preparing for surgery. What a waste of time! read more

Dr Ahmed is a nice doctor but the practice has really gone downhill. They do not take insurance for visits for weight management. You can only see Dr Ahmed on a Wednesday. So they called me to cancel my appointment because he was going to be out for 2 weeks, however, if I wanted to see one of his office assistants I could for the same price I would pay to see a certified doctor. I am new to Vegas I had weight loss surgery three years ago. Was looking for a doctor I could continue my visits. My doctor referred me to this faculty. Appointment was made in November to be seen tomorrow Dec 2 receptionist waits the day before to tell me that The doctor does not see patients who have already had surgery. I was looking to also have a tummy tuck done she was nasty and just rude. This should have been told to me last month rather wait the day before to tell me.UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE. This is the second time this has happened. If this is the way people who have had surgery that are looking for a doctors to continue to be seen and is looking to get a tummy tuck is treated. I will be looking elsewhere And for the receptionist to be rude and nasty she needs to be FIRED. she could have least recommended me to someone being I am new to Vegas. Smh read more

Ok. So this is an update to my initial review from 2017. Initially, I had a great experience with Dr. Ahmed and his staff ( there was only ever one girl working and she was super sweet). I had my surgery and lost weight the first month. Imo, this was because of the liquid diet. I ended up having an upper GI done for a separate issue by another doctor, and the picture of my stomach was that of a regular size stomach. It was his opinion that the sleeve was not made small enough. He also said this is sometimes the preference of the doctor. And to be clear, the UGI was done approximately 2 months after my gastric sleeve. I had zero restriction once the swelling has subsided. To top it off, I now have a hiatal hernia and am in need of a revision. There were questionable actions also in terms of getting my insurance to approve the surgery, but I didn't really care because I was desperate for the surgery. Coming out of surgery, Dr. Ahmed's assistant surgeon was rude and had no bedside manner, but I can't hold Dr. Ahmed responsible for that. He was always very kind and friendly. From reading the reviews, I see that his practice is/has closed? I wish him the best, and urge people to get to know their doctors/practices before they commit to a surgery. read more

I called in for basic information about surgery costs and timelines a week ago and the lady basically said she wouldn't waist her time until they verified my insurance.. so I send in my insurance and I actually forgot about it and just went in with my life. Well, yesterday they email me and congratulations my insurance is verified and covered 80% of what would be a 16,000.00 surgery out of pocket. So they ask that I make a appointment and come on in. So I do...... my appointment was today at 10am at 9:36 they email (not call) me to say theyve canceled my appointment (the email says because they need to verify my insurance first!) Which I dont receive until I'm minutes away! So I call in to the office and wait in hold (in there by this time) and the girl says she call me at (702)****** and spoke with me yesterday abd my appointment was on the 11th. Wth? Um no my number is (626)***** and I have no missed calls nor did I speak to you yesterday. Shes says it must've been me because my voice is the same as the other person and she called everyone on the verification list. So I pull up my call log and say "nope not me". I made my appointment through the email that was sent to me yesterday and today on my way I received no call to kindly tell me my appointment was canceled. I wasn't sure about this office anyway because of some of the reviews about the staff and honestly I could only imagine if I was a patient or post op and had to deal with such incompetence. I will start off this review by saying that I was not referred to Southern Nevada Bariatrics for weight loss surgery, but for a cholecystectomy, as Dr. Mustafa Ahmed also does general surgeries. There was an initial misunderstanding between Dr. Ahmed and I (on my side at least) because I have some ambivalent feelings towards the concept of weight loss surgery in the first place, and given that I was there even for a different purpose, I was a little offended that my weight was brought up and how I would qualify for said surgery if it weren't for my insurance. But I'm trying to keep in mind that most people wouldn't be offended if they were going into the office and that came up, mostly because other people ARE there for weight loss surgery. I try to love my body regardless of my weight, and I am already working with a nutritionist. Anyways, I digress. Initially I was concerned that there was going to be a feeling of tension because of that conversation, but misunderstanding aside, he is a very sweet person the few times I interacted with him or observed him before and after my surgery. He did the procedure at North Vista Hospital yesterday and I feel I was in very safe hands. Unfortunately I think I was still not very lucid after the surgery as I do not remember my conversation with him afterwards but I'm glad to know he came in to check on me when I woke up. (Please forgive me for not remembering the conversation; I talked to Barbara when I was more lucid and was told that I had a conversation with you earlier.) He and his office staff are very sweet and patient (I can't remember all of your names but I appreciate everyone's patience in dealing with my multiple calls to clarify such a swift surgery schedule), so I would recommend him if you need to get a medical procedure done. They make sure to give you plenty of notes and contact information for any questions you might have and a reminder to follow up. read more

Just had my WLS done by Dr. Ahmed on 2/25/19(today has been 3wks), and I'm already down about 30lbs. I enjoyed my experience with Dr. Ahmed and his staff and have recommended a few people to his practice. The only thing that I didn't like or wish I could change was being able to see him more instead of the office staff for my appointments. HOWEVER, I do understand he is very busy, not only with surgeries but with other procedures he does as well. And his staff is extremely knowledgeable and answered all of my questions in a very detailed and thorough manner. I didn't have any hesitation or doubts before going through with the surgery. So today is the 2nd time that I've had to come to this office. I was referred for weight loss surgery. Last month when I arrived for my appt there was no one behind the front desk. I sat down and 20 minuets later the person who I assumed works the desk came out from the back. She looked me right in my eyes and didn't greet me in no kinda way. Ok, fine, whatever. Fast forward to today. I walk in. Same girl, dark hair with glasses. Doesn't speak, nothing. So I don't speak either. I sign in and sit down. The girl doesn't even know what time my appt is or bothers to ask. Probably why. Just like last time I wasn't seen until 40 minuets after my scheduled appt. I'm just showing up for my 6 consecutive months like I was told to do but the girls in the front need to be working the back bcuz they are not friendly or welcoming. If it wasn't such a hassle to find a dietitian that takes my insurance I would go to another office. I have no opinion of the doctor Mustafa. He comes in, he weighs me, I leave. If his staff was friendlier I would've gave 4 stars read more

From the start of calling for a consultation, to my follow up appointment after my surgery, I have had nothing but a positive experience with each employee at this location. It has been an amazing and satisfactory experience. Your staff was rude and hostile toward me. Behind in their work and blamed me for their being short staffed. Hiring Stephanie was one of the best things you did. But no. you don't get why I am upset and your staff doesn't care about patients like you do. I have never been called for a follow up. I missed my last appointment and that was it. That was two months ago? I wasn't in a RUSH. Your office manager LIED TO ME, to my face about timing and how it would go. She never needed to LIE, she could have been honest. SHE CALLED ME A LIAR FOR CALLING HER OUT ON THE TRUTH!!! It's not my fault that she lied and it's not cool that when I called her out for lying that she wouldn't admit it AND AND AND your medical assistant became rude and hostile towards me after that. She lied. Not cool. Not my fault. No follow up. So I don't have much to say that is pleasant. I have lost 65 pounds so far. I am in pain every single day. But hey...I can put my shoes and socks on now!! let Philbert know at least I can do that. Oh, and what's her faces husband has sent me two threatening messages on yelp....one where he specifically admits that he is threatening me....how's that for professionalism? Without going into 7 months worth of lengthy details let me just say this is the worst office I've ever had to deal with in my entire life. Dr Ahmed is good and my surgery went well but that is the only positive thing I have to say. He is extremely busy and in 7 months I only saw him 2 times before my surgery date. Their office staff managed to mess up everything from appointment times to billing to actually going as far as sending paperwork to the hospital with the incorrect surgery scheduled for me. Even when I called for have it "corrected" it was still wrong the day I showed up to the hospital for my surgery. Needless to say I will not be continuing with their practice for my follow up care and would advise anyone and everyone to choose a different practice for your weight loss journey. Their "office manager" is non existent, they speak of her but she's never once called me back or answered emails and the other lady who runs the front desk is extremely rude. They don't even acknowledge you when you walk in. I spent on average over 45 minutes waiting for each "appointment" which consists of just getting weighed, taking less than 2 minutes for the actual appointment. Oh and unless you want to pay a 3% fee you need to pay with cash or a money order for all transactions over $100. Word of advice, just stay away and avoid the headache, find a different practice, because this one definitely isn't going to help make your journey easy and stress free. read more

!!BEWARE !! Don't waste your time on this place . Called for pricing was informed total price would be $3,400 for the Obalon along with possible rebates. Sounded to good to be true so Called back next day to double check to make sure my husband and I heard the front desk lady correctly and she confirmed it the second conversation that the total out the door would be $3,400 with medication and all !! So made appointment drove over 600 miles to this clinic as $3,400 with possible rebates was doable .. however during my appointment was informed the front desk lady informed my husband and I the wrong price but the discount was total of $3,400 making it $5,100 !! Which is a huge difference - wouldn't of wasted my time and took this trip if was informed correctly like I've mentioned we called back to verify the price total would be $3,400 out the door and was told that was correct. Other Bariatric clinics are within hour from me for about $5,100 and surly wouldn't of drove 600+ mile to this crap place. This clinic didn't seem to want to be very accommodating to out of state patients either. Not very friendly crew they have employed at this clinic - would recommend to look elsewhere for weigh loss needs as this one is crap and wasted my husbands and I time and resources to make the trip for absolutely nothing. I chose Dr. Ahmed because of his life long approach to the weight loss journey. The program for weight loss Dr. Ahmed discussed in his seminar was comprehensive, and informative from the beginning. It set the foundation of my weight loss success. At no point was there any confusion as to what the next months would be like for me.
