Mark was so on the ball and straightforward that I decided (wisely) to get two new tires instead of just one.

He FINALLY mechanically (supposedly) fixed it but still had body work to do. That was October 2023. I've called, texted, and went to his shop, almost every week since then. NOTHING!!!

Issue: Car's A/C. It will turn on for ~5 mins during the car ride but then will stop blowing cold air. The air filters were changed last year. Friends who work on their cars checked the Freon and said it was not low. They recommend getting the air compressor checked and bringing the car to a shop. My family is local to the area, so we wanted to support a local car shop. Other car shops were busy, so we called Done Right Automotives. Rick Dunn (the owner) said they would be happy to check out the A/C around 1pm. I brought my car to the shop and met with Brian, the mechanic. I told him what we have checked out and discussed that I am concerned about my air compressor. Brian said he would run a diagnostic and his boss said it would be $69.99. I was hesitant but let's do it. An hour later, Brian came out and stated that he believes the hose/tubes are blocked up and 9 out of 10 times flushing it/unclogging it will take care of the problem. I asked if he was sure and confident, and he gave the nod that most of the time it will solve the issue. Cost? $380. Time? It would take at least 4 hours and they would close the next day. I will have to pick it up Thursday morning. Well, seeing that I was about to be on the road the following weekend, I put my trust in their expertise. I initialed the documents and looked forward to coming back on Thursday morning to a car with fixed A/C. Thursday, AM: I come in with my mom and Brian met us at the front. He said that it was still clogged and they would have to flush it again -- no charge though. It should be ready in the afternoon. I get a phone call around noon. Brian said to call his boss since he's better at explaining A/C problems. I called Rick and was told that the clog in the hose backed up and destroyed the air compressor. The air compressor needs to be replaced. The cost? $1300 - and Rick said he discounted ~$200-300. I would have to come back in 2 weeks to have this done too. After a quick discussion with my parents, we decided no. I called Rick and told him we will pass and will come get the car. I stated in a calm manner how unhappy I was with the situation. He said he was sorry. It will be $493.83 (including tax) and that they only take cash and money order - and that they had signs on the wall stating that. I was shocked. There were back and forth with Brian, my parents, and me about the cost. We were told Rick would not be back until the following Monday. We stated we would like to talk with him in person about paying full price and to negotiate - being local with a small business, etc.. We had an arrangement to meet Rick on Monday to discuss it while in the meantime the car would be left since we had not paid. We did see the hand-written/suspicious signs on the back wall stating no credit/debit cards. Cash or approved checks only - approved checks only being bank checks - see pictures. I get a phone call from Rick later that day stating he is at the shop for the next hour and that I needed to pick up the car and pay since he will be going to Florida for the next two weeks. My dad and I get there and tried to negotiate. He tried to sell it off that the discount was in the air compressor and labor if we chose that, but the diagnostic and flush needs to be paid in full. We discussed that the problem was misdiagnosed and our initial concern was the air compressor. We stated that approximately $500 later, the problem has not been fixed and it would cost almost $1500 and 2 weeks to get it fixed. Rick said that you cannot check the air compressor without running the diagnostic they did by unclogging the hose first and flushing that out. We asked if that was their expertise and there was no other way - answer, yep that is how they do it. No negotiation? None. I asked how do most people pay for this? He said, they usually can't - in other words, he would get to keep the car. He stated that is how he does business, and he has 14(?) other auto shops like this. Also, he is from Florida and goes back and forth from there a lot too. My issues: Diagnostics can be run on the air compressor without having to go through the hose. Even so, any discounts would have been fine for the miss. But no. We invested $500 with the problem not solved only to be lured into putting in $1300+ dollars to finally getting to the problem. Also, I understand not allowing credit/debit cards, but local business checks or other means to pay? Nope. Just cash. On top of that, I looked at the invoiced I initialed. Added on AFTER I had initialed is "no refunds, I agree that other work may be needed." The inconsistency with the agreement/invoice AFTER I had initialed is quite alarming and shows the businesses dishonest methods. Their website says "guaranteed satisfaction." Yeah, right.
