Thai Ground Pork Grapow - Spicy Ground Pork, basil, green onion, shallots, House made tomato sauce, Mozzarella cheese. It is AMAZING! That was one of the first things I tried at this "Pizza" place and it got me hooked. This place is actually so much more than a pizza place. To start, they have bomb pizza. Thai fusion style flavors that totally rock and will make you wonder, how come I haven't had this on a pizza before? This is great! After you try their Grapow, try their Green Curry Chicken Eggplant pizza too. They also have delicious chicken sandwiches. I was talking to the owner and she was telling me that the make the brioche buns in house. That's hella cool. The chicken is marinated overnight and the flavor that develops is amazing. They batter it, fry it, and it comes out crunchy and delicious while moist and tender on the inside. It is served with pickled papaya and creamy Sriracha sauce. Price isn't something I usually focus on in my reviews but $12 for 5 wings is $2.40 per wing. Delicious, juicy, crispy and well seasoned. The wings and garlic noodle combo is better priced at $17. But if the wings are $12 for 5 then the noodles would be $5 right? Nope a side of noodles is $12. So a $7 discount if getting the combo otherwise $24. So a $3.50 discount in each? The brussel sprouts are $12. The wings and things are probably the best deal with wings, garlic noodle, brussels and pork basil and rice at $42. Problem is i didn't like the pork basil. I went here recently with a fellow Eliter in Berkeley Restaurant week. He had suggested this spot for a quick outdoor luncheon patio side. The owners were Super friendly and very attentive. I had ordered a Lychee Sangra and a Chicken Sandwich for lunch. I liked the Brioche bun and the drink was very tasty. The sliders were amazing! I really appreciated the way it was packaged, where each slider was wrapped snug in a butcher paper, i was able to easily peel back and take other bite. I was driving while eating and i didnt have one piece of sauce or veggie fall on my lap. The bun was soft but held up nicley to the sauce, veggies and fried chicken patty. As for the wings, I'm not usually a fan of dry wings, but the crispiness was nice and the sorta spicy aioli dipping sauce was good on them. This is by far my favorite casual restaurant in Berkeley. This is my go-to spot whenever I don't have too much time or want to have a quick meal with a friend. Living so close by, I have come here several times over the course of the past few months since the Yelp Elite event here. My favorite thing on the menu (and I don't stray from it very often) is the Garlic Noodle and Chicken Thigh combo. The garlic noodles are perfectly cooked and seasoned each time and the chicken is crispy and juicy. This order has been perfection each time. This is family-owned restaurant and every experience I've had with the owners has been extremely pleasant. I can't recommend Southside Station enough. Great spot that I stumbled across when getting quarters. Firstly, it's an absolute shame that this place opened around the time of the pandemic, so if anybody is looking for something new, I would highly recommend purely out of the need to support local (you can't get these flavors at McDonalds) I'll leave out any critiques about service because of this. Purely from a food perspective, this place is amazing. I got the fried chicken thigh with garlic noodles. Starting with the chicken. It's crispy exterior is matched amazingly with its juicy insides. This great combo is a staple to any good fried chicken dish. To top this off, it's greatly seasoned and not oily, so you don't feel as dirty by the end of the meal. The sauce that comes with the chicken is this fish-saucy vinegar-y, sweet, garlic-y mixture that just makes this meal. It has a nice kick while adding a completely different dimension to the chicken alltogether. If I didn't know any better (and mind you, I do not) I would take shots of this (I threw it down the hatch after the meal of course). The garlic noodles are great, but as a non fan of pastas, I have no authority to judge it. It tastes garlic-y and reminds me of crab shack seasonings.
