    Pork and shrimp spring rolls
    Mary N.

Small little diner with about 3 tables inside and a counter. Also a couple of tables outside with plastic stools like what you would see on the streets of Saigon. This is more of a grab and go place. Very limited hours and they have some hot and cold food that are premade daily and may run out on a busy day. The Shrimp and Pork Goi Cuon was decent but I wish the sauce was a bit thicker. The Beef Japchae was very flavorful. And the Commoner's Rice definitely reminded me of some Vietnamese comfort food that my family would cook while I was growing up. There is a small attached parking lot. I would definitely swing by and pick up a couple of items if I was nearby. Wish they had a little more variety for made to order items.

Southside Super is a charming little spot that delivers big on both flavor and convenience. Whether you are grabbing one of their prepared dishes to go or managing to snag a seat inside, it is an easy and satisfying experience from start to finish. While their menu leans primarily Korean, the chicken pho is unexpectedly exceptional and honestly one of the best I have had. It is a standout dish that shows just how much care and attention goes into everything they make. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Despite its small footprint, this place leaves a lasting impression.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Thoughtful, well executed food and a welcoming, no frills atmosphere make Southside Super a true Sacramento staple.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I've had pho where they wok fry it with garlic first which adds a great depth of flavor. This one definitely hit the spot. I ordered to go and wished there was a bit more broth. The kimbap bulgogi roll is also good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute spot with extra seating outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Friendly service. Look forward to coming back to try their other dishes.

This spot used to be the former June's Cafe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The narrow diner has a long counter with a few tables and chairs along the side. You can watch the cooks at work while you eat![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are options to choose items from the refrigerated section or you can order hot food. You go to the back of the restaurant and order at the register. Had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon, make sure you pay attention to the hours, they close at 2:00 on Sundays. I got the chicken pho which came with a Chinese doughnut. Very interesting combo. The amount of chicken was just right, I would have preferred more flavoring with the broth however. Maybe I'm just used to traditional pho? My brother loved his beef pho however. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was friendly and I dig the retro vibes here![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Totally coming back to try the beef pho next time.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very small place, service is order and pay before you eat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have hot cold food prepackaged to go or eat there. Food seems a little pricey, the Galbi Jjim I got was a little too sweet for my taste, it would fit someone who likes to eat food on the sweeter side. Although the kimchi did help offset the sweetness, I would've liked more. The little rice cakes with the rice makes this dish loaded with carbs, My wife's pho was surprisingly good. The portion is a bit small for the price, but it was good. Overall, I would not go back, but it's not because of their food or price, it just doesn't hit my taste.

Great service, definitely a local-spot vibe. There are both prepared / to-go (warm & cold) and made to order food. I got the Vietnamese meatball sandwich that came with a tomato dip. To me, it was bland and I was a little disappointed -- and I really had high hopes because of the good reviews. It was around $10 and so I wasn't too upset. I would go back to try the pho (recommended by the server) and the to-go items. I went an hour before closing and the to-go items were all gone already! I loved that they have some Japanese drinks & snacks!

I think all too often we forget what a meal is. Can be. Should be. Well, here, is it. The staff moves amongst the narrow, corridor of a kitchen like a well rehearsed ballet, never replaced by ai. The food sizzles, the music vibes, your eyes watch and your mouth waters. [[HIGHLIGHT]]More than excellent food, it's the callback to little hole in the walls, the expansion to the sidewalk meals in colorful chairs and passerby's getting the chance to stop and ask "that smells amazing - what is that?"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Go eat. Go alone. Go ahead and order extra and sit in the silence of yourself while you chew. Because all that matters is this bite - and it is excellent.

I really wanted to like this place because of all the good reviews. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The spot is small and cozy. It has 50s diners vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I like that there is a parking lot also. The Egg Salad Sandwich was a 3/5. The egg was pretty good but everything else was a little bland. The beef pho was also a 3/5. The broth tasted like it was homemade in an amateur type of way. It tasted like how I cook at home...and that's not a good thing. I would not come back here if I am craving for pho.

On this visit, we ordered the Vietnamese meatball sandwich. I like the flavor of the meatballs and the bread was crispy on the exterior and fluffy on the interior. The tomato dipping sauce was okay as it was overly sour/tangly. I prefer more savory seasoning on my sandwich. I really enjoyed the Bossam. The pork belly paired very deliciously with all the provided ingredients. I would definitely order this on each subsequent visit.

I have heard good things about this spot on tiktok, specifically their pho. I stopped by to grab a kimbap around 9AM, it looked like they just stocked up for the day luckily. To-go items are slightly more pricy than typical Viet/Korean spots but that is to be expected considering the location. Their menu does a good job of introducing both cuisines to those who might not be familiar.

I heard the egg salad sandwich here was a MUST, but to me it was a BUST. Maybe social media just hyped it up too much for me but she was sooo bland. The furikake didnt add much flavor or texture either. And overall-- it lacked salt. It just felt like i was eating mayo bread. I added salt and it was a little better, but not worth the $9 imo. I do have to say the bread was pretty soft. The person who rang me up was super kind and welcoming. The spot is pretty small inside, so I recommend eating on the tables they provided outside!

I've been here on multiple occasions to pick up some prepared bulgogi japchae and egg salad sandwiches! I've also tried their prepare kimbap. Everything is wonderful! I've also sat in and tried their chicken pho and chao. We liked the chao a little more! I also liked their banh mi siu mai. The staff here is super nice too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's very cozy![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Service was nice and informative. Food came out within a couple of minutes. Couldn't help myself had to indulged in a couple of plates. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As for ambiance place was small with a couple of bars seat to view their open kitchen and a couple 2 seat tables along the wall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]So nice small with open kitchen view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Will have to go again to try other plates

Pair it with a rich, flavorful bowl of Mi Quang, and you're in food heaven. Try their bun cha ca, vermicelli noodles w fish cake super light and excellent broth! I also like their banh xeo here, very crispy and the right amount of veggies. PRO-TIP YOU NEED TO TRY: Don't sleep on their appetizer menu! Stop by TK Noodles down the street first, grab some chicharrones to-go, and sprinkle them right on top of the Banh Beo here. Total game changer! Try something else besides pho, I love pho but Vietnamese cuisine has many distinct soup dishes when you factor in regional variations, unique broths, and different noodle types. If you look past phở, Vietnamese soups generally fall into a few massive, distinct categories based on how the broth is built and what kind of noodle is used.

The dipping sauce lacked flavor and the color was a bit off-putting. For ~$4 a roll, I was hoping for more. Banh Hoi Chao Tom: There was a crispy exterior to my chao tom, but it definitely looked way different than I know chao tom to be. I'm used to the sugarcane inside the patty to infuse it with the sweetness and aroma, but here my sugarcane sticks were kinda just laying there on my plate (lol). There also isn't much shrimp in the mixture so the chao tom truly lacked excitement. There was no complexity of flavor.. just crispy-ness which carried the dish. Overall, 4/10.

We felt transported back to Vietnam when we sipped the sugarcane and calamansi juice. If they have it (listed seasonal on the menu), try it! We also got nem cuon (not pictured) and the portion was generous and warm. I love their dipping sauce too. The broken rice plates also remind me of the places my mom took me to in Westminster and Garden Grove growing up. The accompaniments(hanh mo), whole Thai chilies, and chicken broth are signs of the authenticity. Meats are marinated and grilled nicely too. Everything is so so good. Support this place and family. We ordered the combo pho, and the broth was surprisingly bland & lacking the depth and richness you'd expect. The meat was tough, there was barely any tripe, and no tendon at all, which was disappointing for a "combo." I also requested less noodles, but that adjustment was mistakenly given to my husband's bowl instead. Not a huge issue on its own, but it added to the overall experience. That said, the menu offers a wide variety of broken rice dishes, so it seems like that might be more of their specialty. If I were to return, I'd probably try one of those instead of the pho.

We mixed our fish sauce with the chili sauce and this was so good. I wish it came with a little bit more veggies as I like to lettuce wrap my cha gio. Banh Cuon combo plate was also very good but the banh cuon was absolutely the best part - next time I would just order a plate of only the rice rolls! Banh Xeo took a bit longer to come out but it was very large and seemed like a popular menu item as we saw other tables order this. As there are a lot of seafood options. However there is hotpot options and other noodle and rice dishes as well. The restaurant has a small outdoor patio. Inside has spacious table seating, some with booth and good lighting inside. There was ballad vietnamese music video playing. The restaurant was not busy and there were elderly men at the tables playing cards and some at another table they were chatting & drinking. Im not sure if they hold karaoke or have live bands but there is a stage with music instruments and a projector with installed party lights. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted right away. It was a bummer when they told us they didn't make ox tail or bum rieu today. Instead we ordered beef tartare, beef pho and shaken beef with rice. The beef tartare was this sliced raw beef with onion, herbs and lime which made the dish rich and savory. The pho was mediocre and same goes for the shaken beef, but both dishes were still tasty enough. During our time there, the server did not check on us or refill our water.
