    Beef pho
    Linh N.

I've had pho where they wok fry it with garlic first which adds a great depth of flavor. This one definitely hit the spot. I ordered to go and wished there was a bit more broth. The kimbap bulgogi roll is also good. It's a cute spot with extra seating outside. Friendly service. Look forward to coming back to try their other dishes.

This spot used to be the former June's Cafe. The narrow diner has a long counter with a few tables and chairs along the side. You can watch the cooks at work while you eat! There are options to choose items from the refrigerated section or you can order hot food. You go to the back of the restaurant and order at the register. Had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon, make sure you pay attention to the hours, they close at 2:00 on Sundays. I got the chicken pho which came with a Chinese doughnut. Very interesting combo. The amount of chicken was just right, I would have preferred more flavoring with the broth however. Maybe I'm just used to traditional pho? My brother loved his beef pho however. Service was friendly and I dig the retro vibes here! Totally coming back to try the beef pho next time.

Very small place, service is order and pay before you eat. They have hot cold food prepackaged to go or eat there. Food seems a little pricey, the Galbi Jjim I got was a little too sweet for my taste, it would fit someone who likes to eat food on the sweeter side. Although the kimchi did help offset the sweetness, I would've liked more. The little rice cakes with the rice makes this dish loaded with carbs, My wife's pho was surprisingly good. The portion is a bit small for the price, but it was good. Overall, I would not go back, but it's not because of their food or price, it just doesn't hit my taste.

Great service, definitely a local-spot vibe. There are both prepared / to-go (warm & cold) and made to order food. I got the Vietnamese meatball sandwich that came with a tomato dip. To me, it was bland and I was a little disappointed -- and I really had high hopes because of the good reviews. It was around $10 and so I wasn't too upset. I would go back to try the pho (recommended by the server) and the to-go items. I went an hour before closing and the to-go items were all gone already! I loved that they have some Japanese drinks & snacks!

Spam kimbap - $8, good portion and fresh ingredients

I have heard good things about this spot on tiktok, specifically their pho. I stopped by to grab a kimbap around 9AM, it looked like they just stocked up for the day luckily. To-go items are slightly more pricy than typical Viet/Korean spots but that is to be expected considering the location. Their menu does a good job of introducing both cuisines to those who might not be familiar.

I really wanted to like this place because of all the good reviews. The spot is small and cozy. It has 50s diners vibe. I like that there is a parking lot also. The Egg Salad Sandwich was a 3/5. The egg was pretty good but everything else was a little bland. The beef pho was also a 3/5. The broth tasted like it was homemade in an amateur type of way. It tasted like how I cook at home...and that's not a good thing. I would not come back here if I am craving for pho.

I've been here on multiple occasions to pick up some prepared bulgogi japchae and egg salad sandwiches! I've also tried their prepare kimbap. Everything is wonderful! I've also sat in and tried their chicken pho and chao. We liked the chao a little more! I also liked their banh mi siu mai. The staff here is super nice too. It's very cozy!

On this visit, we ordered the Vietnamese meatball sandwich. I like the flavor of the meatballs and the bread was crispy on the exterior and fluffy on the interior. The tomato dipping sauce was okay as it was overly sour/tangly. I prefer more savory seasoning on my sandwich. I really enjoyed the Bossam. The pork belly paired very deliciously with all the provided ingredients. I would definitely order this on each subsequent visit.

I heard the egg salad sandwich here was a MUST, but to me it was a BUST. Maybe social media just hyped it up too much for me but she was sooo bland. The furikake didnt add much flavor or texture either. And overall-- it lacked salt. It just felt like i was eating mayo bread. I added salt and it was a little better, but not worth the $9 imo. I do have to say the bread was pretty soft. The person who rang me up was super kind and welcoming. The spot is pretty small inside, so I recommend eating on the tables they provided outside!

My family has been coming here since they opened. This place is a Sacramento gem. The food is amazing. I think they have the best kimchi fried rice and chicken pho ever. There is grab and go hot/cold food as well as hot food made to order. Order at the cashier and find a place to sit. Indoor seating is limited but they have outdoor seating that can seat 4-6 people depending on how many tables are available. The interior is cozy with a great esthetic. Everyone that works there is friendly and awesome. Go early because they will sell out! Also the pickled jalapeños are delicious. I wish they sold kimchi--also so good!!

This is a hidden gem. Our friends introduced us to this small restaurant in Sac. It is a Korean and Vietnamese fusion. We ordered the rice porridge and the pho chicken. All I say is that there was music with every bite. It was absolutely delicious. We had food coming within 5 minutes. HIGHLY recommend people to stop by this restaurant for a quick bite.

I ended up at Southside Duper having had to go on the hunt for a new pho spot after learning that my go-to pho spot closed and my other favorite is only open on weekdays. It's small little restaurant m tucked away on V street with only three indoor tables and bar seating but don't let that deter you from checking out their spring rolls and pho. I have a hard time finding chicken pho and I blame Turtle Tower in San Francisco for making me a fan of the Northern style pho because here and there I crave it but it's awfully difficult to find it in Sacramento. Im glad Southside Super can fill this void. The chicken pho is made in the Northern style. The distinction is the clear and more subtle broth. You aren't going to get a ton of sauces and garnishes on the side with this bowl of pho. There is no siracha and hoisin sauce to punch you in the face and wake you up after a long night out. Still, there is a lot of flavor to this type of pho and it's an incredibly comforting dish. The chicken makes for a lighter meal than beef but it's still a satisfying meal. The service was efficient and friendly and a team member did mention they are working on adding Vietnamese coffee to the menu. I think that will take things to the next level for this spot and I'm looking forward to having Vietnamese coffee with my next bowl of pho.

Had to update my review. After my third or fourth time here I have to upgrade my ratings. This place is so good! I had some extra time during lunch and ordered from the made to order menu. Blown away by how good everything was. If you're in the area, it'd be hard to find a better lunch option.

I've only eaten here once, but it appeared that was plenty of seating for many more people. When we walk by it's never been packed. Parking is mostly street parking with some parking in local garages. They have 2 very clean unisex bathrooms to the right of the counter. You order at the counter and then they call your number. We arrived a few minutes after Noon. There was only 1 person in-front of us and 1 person behind us so we thought it would be a quick lunch. As it turns out several people went through the line before us and the wait was around 15 minutes. Kind of an excessive wait for a counter lunch. There was one girl holding her baby taking the orders and one girl filling the orders. She was going as fast as she could, but it still took awhile. It got really backed up. I ordered the BBQ Beef Cupbop. I didn't know what to expect. As it turns out the bottom layer is white rice, next is a layer of glass noodles, then comes the can corned, a mixture of cabbage, and topped with the BBQ Beef. It was very tasty. A little on the spicy side, which made it just more flavorful. It wasn't mouth watering or eye tearing hot. It just had a little kick. The consistency of the meat reminded me of ground beef. It was very finely chopped strips. Overall it was really good. Very filling for the amount you get. It's more than we usually have for lunch. My husband had the chicken soy ginger. I had some and it was really good, but fried, so probably not as healthy as the BBQ Beef. It doesn't appear that they cook to order any food here, but they do scoop to order. From what I could see they sell a variety of Cupbop flavors, including a vegetarian option. They also sell sandwiches, salads, and a burrito. They have an ice water dispenser at the end of the counter with water cups. The vibe was interesting. You are surrounded by state worker from all different agencies all minding their own business. Many groups of 2-6 were eating together. There were less singles than groups.
