Dr. Murgatroyd is one of my favorites. She is very thorough and takes her time to look over my dog and address my concerns before coming up with a treatment plan. My golden doodle adores the vet techs so much that she will wait at the door for them. Cannot recommend them enough! read more

Moved to Austin 2 years ago and found myself having to make the difficult decision to put my 17 year old baby to sleep. It was a horrible time but the entire team comforted my Son from the beginning to the end and even sent us a card with his paw prints. Since then we have taken my Daughters cat and my other dog to them for their care. Both had to have several teeth extracted which required us to drop them off. From initial exam, to drop off and pick up the doctor called us to give us an update throughout the day. It was so reassuring knowing they were in loving and caring hands. Don't remember the receptionist name but he has been there each time and he is wonderful. Definitely highly recommend. They treat you like family. read more

Process: From registering as a new patient, to checking in, to the visit itself, everything ran smoothly and efficiently. Fuaad texted prior to the appointment to get information about the previous vet so they could have that ready for the appointment. When we arrived, there was no wait and we were settled into a room within a minute (literally) of walking into the door. Staff: Our care team included Veterinary Technician Hannah and Dr. Shuman. Hannah was polite, handled our pet with care, and was knowledgeable about the random questions we had. Likewise, Dr. Shuman handled our pet with care, provided needed information in easy to understand terms, and demonstrated the best way to trim nails. We are very pleased with the care our pet received. Physical location: the office is very near us which is a huge plus. It is well kept, with a welcoming reception area (staffed by very prepared individuals - as soon as we walked in, they knew who we were). While we didn't spend much time in the reception area, it had some blankets, and a divided area for sitting. The exam room was clean, airy, and had feliway "calmer" diffusing in the room. Our cat is fairly skittish, but this seemed to help as she was amenable to all the poking and prodding for 95% of the visit. Everything was well taken care of and well thought out (I.e., no places to run and hide). read more

The vet was great but there are great vets everywhere. Prices are absolutely outrageous. Double and triple prices than other places even just for vaccines, exam, and preventative tests. The straw that broke the camels back was when I was charged $30 in advance for a fecal parasite exam which I wasn't planning on doing because I'm not concerned about parasites and I was told I received a "special package" and if I was charged separately even w/o the fecal test, I'd be charged an additional almost $50. It felt like it a scam. I'll gladly take my future business elsewhere and I don't recommend them. read more

With warm smiles we were welcomed by Danika the gorgeous(aka Scarlett Johansson's stand-in) who's patience and kindness was like nun other. Then we met Dr. Dulaney the fabulous who's magic touch and soothing tone reassured us our furry bestie, Coco was in the best of hands. While we waited Nolan the wonderful answered any and all questions a concerned parent would have. First of all I would like to personally thank everyone who was involved in my dogs surgery to remove his bladder stones and neutering. Winston being a Bulldog has a special need for attention while under anesthesia and the team at SW Vet did amazing. If it wasn't for the expertise of Dr. Glowski, I Don't think he would of made it. Winston was having trouble urinating for a month and the other vet I took him to assured me it was just his prostate. That was absolutely incorrect. Thank goodness Dr. Glowski took X-rays and found out there was in-fact quite a bit of bladder stones. This is by far the best experience I've had dealing with a vet clinic in my entire duration of owning dogs. They even cut his pills in half to ensure I'm reminded of the proper dosing for his medication, not to mention pills can be hard to break in half sometimes. I cant even begin to say how much I love this vet and their staff. I have been going here for nearly 2 years now and its the best vet I have ever been to. I have had my pets for about 10 years and have lived in a few cities and cant imagine going anywhere else now. The entire team here is so compassionate and caring. We recently had to euthanize two of our dogs and it was our first time through this and their team was incredibly helpful through it. They were there for us and I felt so supported during such a painful time. We are now bringing our new pup as I don't trust anyone else with my dogs care! They always answer my emails, texts and phone calls and always have patience with me when I have a lot of questions. The entire staff here is amazing. You wont regret bringing your pet here. I've been a pet owner for 23 years, and this is the best vet office I've ever encountered. You know how when you start to ask detailed questions, most vets will act like they're too busy to talk? They'll start saying "yeah, yeah, yeah" and slowly backing away? Drs. Singleton and Glowski don't do that. They will discuss the latest veterinary research with you, and answer your questions as if you were an intelligent and concerned person. Another thing: Both doctors will sit down on the hard concrete floor of the examining room to get eye-to-eye with your dog or cat. They don't automatically put them up on the examining table. That says a lot to me. The front-desk people -- Sarah, Lauren and Miranda -- are unfailingly pleasant and exude love for animals. Their prices are reasonable -- less than some of the better-known places in town. I enthusiastically recommend SW Vet. read more

My husband and I unexpectedly adopted a dog on Saturday that was in really rough shape. Our vet is out of town, and we couldn't get the new addition there until later this week. I couldn't bare him suffering until then. My vet heard the symptoms and told me to find somewhere closer to us and take him in immediately. I tried several places, and they were booked for 48 hours. I called Southwest Vet. The receptionist/vet tech heard my story, was unbelievably kind then they worked us in within 2 hours. Dr. Maynard spent over an hour with us, explained providing prompt relief for the symptoms as well as methods to treat the infections and allergies over time so he actually heals. He actually volunteers at the shelter where our new baby came from, so he was very realistic and honest about our pup's current health and the next steps in what will be a longer recovery. The vet techs and vet got on the floor and loved on our dog, went out of their way to listen and go through the minimal records and history I did have then presented multiple treatment options. Afterwards, the receptionist emailed us doctors notes to share with our regular vet. The prices were very reasonable as well, and 24 hours later our new addition is noticeably feeling better. I would highly recommend Dr. Maynard and the entire team at Southwest Vet. read more

When it comes to my 2 rescues, I will get them the best of the best care in the world....until it starts hitting your pocket book. I used to take them to South Park Animal Hospital, run by Dr. Singleton (who is AMAZING!!!), but it got to be too far for a drive for me from where I moved to. Then recently, I found that their sister vet location, SW Vet off of 71, was opening. Hooray! I love the vets and the technicians here. They really are the best of the best. However, they are EXPENSIVE and they don't always give full information. Recently, I got my boys the H1N3 flu shot, as it's been going around Austin, and I didn't know that I had to come back TWICE - one for the immediate shot and then again 3 weeks later for their booster. The shots themselves are $28 a piece - at least for the boosters. Then the tech fee is $12 - PER DOG. I find that completely absurd. If I was to bring them separately for individual appointments, then I can see paying the $12 fee twice. But if I bring them both at the same time to avoid an extra $12 cost, then I think it is ridiculous to pay it twice. I'm getting info on Emancipet and other vet services around town because it is just too expensive. read more

I am so happy with this vet and the location is perfect for me. Yesterday I had the unpleasant task of taking a cat needing euthanasia and I appreciated the honesty and support they were willing to provide. I just wanted to get this done but if I'd needed to spend extra time with my cat they were willing to accommodate. They are top-notch, caring, honest and very up-front about services and costs. Today I took another cat in for ear cleaning and ear mite treatment and they determined she didn't have ear mites; it was an infection. My cat was totally comfortable with them and so was I. They seem to have a knack for bonding with our pets and that's so important. The facility itself is great with a designated "cat corner" in the waiting area and overall has a great vibe. read more

This is my second visit at Southwest Vet with Dr. Glowski. The whole appointment could not have been better! I received a reminder email that my dog was due for his annual vaccines (which I love because he was overdue last year) and I called to make an appointment that day and they were able to schedule me for a perfect time to fit my schedule. The waiting room is always so cute and so clean! Although you barely have time to enjoy it because Sarah was there right away to take my dog and I back to the treatment room. Sarah was amazing and Dr. Glowski was so friendly and just down to earth! I used to go to Banfield pet hospital in pets mart because I figured those nice vet offices I've driven by would be way over priced, but I was wrong. Fantastic vet. So glad they opened near us when we moved to Austin. They have seen our dog since she is 3 months old. She absolutely loves going to this vet. It doesn't have that sterile animal hospital vibe other vets have. Dr. Glowski gets on the floor and interacts with your dog to do examinations and only uses the table if it's 100% necessary. The fact that Southwest Vet is very eco friendly is awesome and the customer service from everyone there is top notch. Can't say enough great things about this place and the staff! read more

It does not seem to have same the that gets good reviews. The staff I encountered did not have good contact with my pets and the only tool they used was spoonfuls of peanut butter (one of my pets had so much they no longer wanted any). Clinic was clean and very nice rooms. But two hours for our visit us not a low stress environment that they boast. Nice interior finishes do not allow for poor staffing. read more

I just moved to Austin, and needed a health check up for my pup, for the Apartment complex I moved into. The vets and staff at Southwest were very nice and accommodating, [side note, their office is very nice as well] The good news is, I have found my vet while I live in Austin, they also have a sister company if you need more specialized care for your dog, my dog was tested for Glaucoma and the good news is she tested negative for Glaucoma! read more

My pup has been the three vets throughout his life (he is about 2.5y/o) as we have moved around Austin. This is the best one I have been to. It is also the only veterinarian office that has let me go in with him since COVID. My pup is very anxious at the vet, and they are wonderful with him. The front desk is professional and friendly. Vets are amazing at explaining concepts in simple language. They do 'baby-splain' basic concepts, which feels a little demeaning at times (especially as a nurse), but I understand not everyone has a strong grasp on animal anatomy and physiology, and it is best to cover all of their bases. I also look young so that most likely plays an influential role in the 'baby-splaining.' They are also very affordable and do not price gauge, in my opinion. I would 10/10 recommend entrusting them with the care of your pet(s). If I were to move somewhere further in Austin (or outside of), I do see myself making the drive because they are so great. read more

Dr. Singleton is just the best! He truly treats each dog as an individual and makes care recommendations based on what's in their best interest. I have a very sweet senior pitbull who keeps getting hematomas and Dr. Singleton has cauterized two now without sedation based on her easy going personality. Other vets recommended full anesthesia for the procedure which becomes increasingly risky as she ages and of course is much more costly for something she needs done every 8 months or so. We are just so appreciative and grateful! Thanks SW Vet! read more

Dr. Singleton is the BEST VET EVER. I've seen A LOT of vets all over the country. He is not only thorough, he makes sure to address all your concerns and I never leave feeling like I was being rushed off with a quick fix medication without him weighing other options. He's very kind, caring, and knows his stuff! My chocolate lab Sophia actually gets beyond excited to go here, where at all other vets, she's very nervous and anxious. The staff here seems to all genuinely love animals and that's always a plus, why work at a vet if you don't love animals? Sara who works at the front desk is also a huge sweetheart. This is one vet clinic I never hesitate to take any of my 4 dogs to. I find them fair in pricing and they never try to sell you on anything you don't want or need. I also love that they split pills for you when they send you home with medication which makes it super easy and at the South Park location they bill you in your room so you don't struggle to pay while you have your dog in hand. Both locations always have snacks for your pup kids and for you and both facilities are super clean, yet cozy with all the adorable artwork and comfortable seating. Always happy to be back in Austin to take my dogs to see Dr. Singleton!!! read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE I hate flaming anyone, but in this case, it is necessary to warn others. AVOID SW VET no matter what. I took my dog in to see the vet for a vaccine and to have her anal glands expressed. I warned that her glands were difficult to work on. Four days later I had to take my dog back to have her anal glands expressed again since she was obviously trying to scratch at them. I again mentioned that her glands are hard to work on and they claimed they would take care of it. My dog got worse I took my dog to a different vet. The glands were infected and required a skilled vet plus several hundreds of dollars in antibiotics to cure. I called the vet at SW Vet and found out that she had not tried to express the glands - she left it to the vet tech. When I asked why a vet hadn't expressed the glands when I brought my dog in a second time she said because I didn't make a vet appointment, only a drop-in appointment, to have my dog's glands expressed. NO ONE EVER suggested I needed a special appointment with the vet to have my dog looked at by the vet. No one supervised the vet tech even when it was obvious that there was a problem. On the phone, the vet said many of the right things to me but sounded like she was really meaning "that's just the way things go." I would never allow a dog to suffer like that and expect at least the same level of concern from my vet. Stay away from these people unless you want a corporate experience with hidden rules that only make sense to increase the vet's profit. read more

I love this vet! My dog is super shy/doesn't trust strangers, so when my dog accepts treats and will go back to get weighed without me, I am super impressed. They recognized that she gets uncomfortable and has her tail between her legs, so they get on the floor, talk in soft calming voices, and comfort her to become friends to the point where she's now wagging her tail. I have gone to about 3-4 appointments here and its the exact same treatment every time. Cannot recommend them enough! They are they best and I will be continuing to take my fur baby and future fur babies here!!! read more

That is huge, you have no idea. I've always had pets and I've always liked the veterinarian profession as a whole, but Southwest Vet blew my socks off this week! Seriously, it was the best vet experience I've ever had. The entire staff was incredible and knowledgeable. The office was clean and even spa-like. I didn't have to wait at all!!! Even when I was waiting on procedures, it was quicker than I expected. They were really cool about my crazy children being there and they even helped me unload the cat and two kids. Dr. Glowski was really incredible. I never felt pushed to rack up a giant bill. She encouraged me about the decisions I had to make, but was very good about listening to my needs. My cat was really at ease with her because he could sense her real love for animals. She even kissed him on his kind of gunky head. :) Prices were normal, but like I said before, my final bill was manageable and I didn't regret any decisions. (Unfortunately, I feel like a lot of other vets like to up-sell you until you have a bionic animal.) Please go there! Your pet will thank you! read more
