This vet experience is amazing from the moment you walk in the door, you're greeted by Patrick, he is so kind and comforting and was great with my dog. The interior is immaculate and really lends itself to a stress free environment for the animals. Kristen our tech has such a passion for animals that she's going to be an awesome vet one day. Then there is Dr. Singleton who took so much time explaining the different options for my dog that is suffering from severe allergies. His knowledge and "bed side" manner with my pup made the experience one that was easy for my pet and I. I learned so much too and have a game plan on how i'm going to "try" to fight these Austin allergies. Thank you Dr. Singleton! My newly adopted furball Samson and I had our first visit this afternoon. The office was brand new, very clean and bright. All of the staff were super friendly and gentle with my anxious kitty. Prior to our visit, we were emailed an estimate of the cost and services and it reflected what we were charged at the end of the appt. This is the most caring veterinary clinic I have ever been to. We had to take our beloved dog to SW one Saturday to be put to sleep when our regular vet was too full to see. The Dr was so kind and understanding and set my heart and mind (and that of my two teenagers who were with me) at ease. We are so lucky to find Southwest Vet. Dr. Singleton and Dr. Glowski are excellent! Our cat MaoMao suddenly had mouth bleeding. They got us in right away, and Dr. Singleton not only did a successful surgery for MaoMao, but cleaned her teeth without charge. He also spent time wrote long emails to answer my questions, and provided detailed information. Mao Mao has been several clinics. This is the best of the best: everyone is so friendly and helpful. My dog enjoys going places and meeting people and such was the case at her first ever visit to a Veterinarian clinic up in Cedar Park. However; following a certain routine examination and more specialized examinations, she has developed a slight fear and wariness when at the vet clinic. While at her very recent first visit to Southwest Vet, the staff really went the extra mile to help her feel comfortable and secure in their care. I was so glad to hear Southwest Vet was opening and an extension of/affiliated with South Park Animal Hospital. I had been going to South Park Animal Hospital since I moved to Austin and they're great but I moved out west and it was a bit out of the way. I always feel really welcome at Southwest Vet and the aesthetic is lovely. There's great flexibility and they are really accommodating to make sure my pets are taken care of in a timely manner. Dr. Glowski is so caring, knowledgeable, and thorough with my pets. My dog, who definitely can be picky about who to trust, LOVES her. He is an 11-year-old (sometimes)grumpy chihuahua who has never taken a treat from a doctor UNTIL Dr. Glowski. I genuinely appreciate her patience and understanding when it comes to his temperament and my own tendency to be overly concerned. Dr. Singleton is great! His knowledge is extensive. Since my pet has a chronic illness that is unpredictable, he wrote a chart that tells me if my pet is nauseous or in pain and what medicines to give my pet. The chart has been invaluable in helping my pet's quality of life. read more

I came here for a 2nd opinion and quote for dental surgery for my 11 1/2 year old dog. They were able to get us in next day for consult and then a few days later for the actual surgery. The price range they offered was lower than another vet, so I decided to go with them. Surgery was straight forward, the vet came out and chatted with me to explain how it went. I have been taking my dogs to this location since it opened and Dr. Glowski has been the Vet point of contact. She has been wonderful over the years, caring and informative with my dogs health. It's been many years now of service and when I went to schedule a follow up, I was told Dr. Glowski was no longer there. I was bummed but I scheduled an easy wellness check for my dog. The staff is usually helpful. I remember my scheduled appointment was at 1:30 per my records, I got a call at 1:15 that i was late for my appointment at 1pm. This guys attitude was rubbing me the wrong way from the get go. Regardless of the miscommunication of what time my appointment was, i was given an attitude and the next appointment after mine had already showed up early and because they were booked up for the rest of the day, they said i had to reschedule into next week. Well, that doesn't resonate well with me and i will be taking my business elsewhere. I did some research and found Dr Glowski at another location. I know my dog will be in good hands with her. read more

Can't say enough about this vet office and specifically Dr. Kim Glowski. SW Vet touts themselves as "low stress", and I agree...for both the animals and their humans! I take my dog and cat here, both special in their own ways, and the staff and Dr. Glowski could not be more patient and caring. My questions are answered without feeling like you are asking a "dumb" question, and they are happy to hear you out with your thoughts and observations. I also LOVE that they put you into a exam room right away. Its a very nice, lobby, don't get me wrong, but I appreciate having a private room to wait in. Services and products are never forced on you, which is also appreciated. Having to take your pets to the vet is never something you look forward to, whether routine or emergency, but SW Vet makes the experience pleasant and nothing to stress about (again, pets and humans)! It's unfortunate I have to write this review and obvious my experience is out of the norm for Southwest Vet, but nonetheless, I feel compelled to share my experience with others. The number one thing Southwest Vet took from me was the opportunity to give my beloved dog Aspen the peaceful death she deserved after 10 years of her loyalty to me. For whatever reason and whether justified medically based on her symptoms or not, both doctors failed to diagnose Aspen with the condition that was ailing her over a two-week period and the condition that eventually led to her death. Aspen had a heart condition that was diagnosed in January and she was on medication for the condition. Two weeks prior to the day she died, I took her to the vet because she was lethargic, not eating and had stinky anal glands. The doctor expressed her anal glands and sent her home. The day she died, I was at the vet in the morning again with Aspen looking for answers to her continued lethargy. Dr. Glowski diagnosed her with a spinal issue and decided it wasn't her heart, prescribed loads of pain meds, ordered blood tests and sent us home. I came home from work around 4 p.m. that day and noticed Aspen heavy breathing, hacking and extremely uncomfortable. I called the vet at that time and Dr. Glowski left me a return message telling me I could bring her back the following morning if I wished. That night, she passed away due to lack of oxygen (known from blood tests that came back after her death). She got up from her bed, trailed blood around the house trying to get out the closed doggy door (thank God). Then, she went to her favorite spot in the window on top of the couch where I found her body in rigor mortis the next morning. I'm still horrified by the traumatic experience and feel an extreme amount of guilt for the way she left this world. The number one thing I could have done differently is better, more experienced vet care. My impression is that this is a very young practice. I will not be back to Southwest Vet ever again for my other pets. I think it's important to add that Southwest Vet was honest with me and kind to me through this all, but it still doesn't change the fact that their oversight is likely the reason my dog is not laying in my lap with me today--that her life may have been spared had the blood tests been ordered sometime in the two weeks prior to her death. My love, my companion, who watched me grow into an adult, who loved me unconditionally, at my worst, at my best is gone and nothing can change that. My only ounce of peace in this experience is that Aspen went out on her own terms like the sophisticated lady she was. read more

The team here is incredible! I adopted my 1yr old lab from APA who suggested Southwest Vet. Upon our first visit they helped him get up to date on immunizations and worked with us to knock out nausea issues. They're incredibly attentive and patient - they even called multiple times to ensure he was doing well. They are incredible and the staff and office are great. We moved to Bee Cave from Arizona and knew we had to find a vet that understood our Boston Terrier's complex allergies, eye issues, etc. Dr. Singleton and the entire staff at Southwest Vet are INCREDIBLE! The front desk staff and the vet tech were super sweet and the Doctor genuinely cared about all of our questions and concerns. I've been searching for a good vet since we moved back to Austin 2 years ago. I never seemed to find the right fit for us. When I went on vacation and my dog got sick, our nanny brought him to Dr. G at SW vet. She was wonderful throughout diagnosing him, and even though we eventually had to put him down (she even came to our house to do that!) I felt like he was truly cared for at the end. The staff is very kind, and Dr. G is wonderful. I'm so glad we found SW Vet! (Bonus points because the prices were extremely reasonable compared to other vets in the area!) read more

We were heartbroken and very disappointed in Southwest Vet. We had taken our beloved pets to then for several years including 2 surgeries, and 3 teeth cleaning procedures. The day after Thanksgiving we took our sweetheart to them. As a former teacher, I was positive she was having peti mal seizures. She was also making a weird clacking noise with her teeth. All 3 VETS said they were baffled and gave her antibiotics. Later that day she had a grand mal seizure, and they prescribed a seizure medicine. It reduced symptoms and the clacking noise somewhat. We finally took her to AVES emergency. The first thing they said, oh she is having a grand mal seizure now. It was the clacking noise she was making with her teeth. (I felt the 3 veterinarians should have been aware of this behavior) Then also said that she had a lot of plaque buildup and two teeth that were questionable. Interesting, as she had her teeth cleaned on 8/29. I questioned whether see really needed it. She then showed us why she questioned the cleaning. Cleaning is expensive, x-rays, blood work, and anesthesia! Our beloved Maza was put to sleep, because they could not get the clacking (grand mal seizure) to stop. They felt she must have had a brain tumor. I am upset that the vets at SW didn't recognize a major mal seizure (clamping noise with teeth), evidently didn't do well on cleaning teeth. AVES kept us up to date on Maza's progress. We received a plaque with her paw prints. But we received a sympathy care signed by several members of the staff, including comments about our pet, very personal. I had informed SW vet that Maza had been put to sleep, and cancel an appointment we had made earlier. It would have been nice to receive a sympathy card or a phone call from them as they knew our baby well. Instead we just keep getting postcards and emails that she needs to come in for a shot. I had liked them until this incidence. I questioned whether she should have medicine for seizures and was told that dog symptoms were different than humans. She would have had to be put down I know, but she wouldn't have had to suffer as long as she did. I felt that they should know signs of seizures, I did. If you questions anything, take your dog immediately to AVES as they know what they are doing. read more
