This is still one of my favorite places in the world and my previous review still applies, but the price, my partner's (first!) experience, the service, and the products out of stock made me reconsider my rating. First of my concerns is the price of a day pass, which is now over $180 for only three hours. I'm not sure if/how they enforce this (we don't check in/out at any point), but having to constantly check the clock is the opposite of relaxing. For that price, it should offer all-day entry. Secondly, my last visit was poorly stocked. The piles of towels have been reduced, and sandals had to be pulled out of a locker. The sunscreen pump was empty in the co-ed area, and I had to notify the front desk as I could not find an attendant. It appears their partnership was ended with the skincare company that used to provide products at the vanity, and the iced towels by the steam room were quickly sitting in a bowl of water. Third, the service was brusque. My tour was given by an attendant (Aaron) who seemed strangely nervous, but my partner did not receive a tour at all. Her attendant just said, "here's your locker," and left. My partner had to seek out and ask the attendant (who was now giving a tour to a different guest) for sandals and was brushed off. She ended up getting lost multiple times, as the hallways and doors can be confusing at first. When I went to report the sunscreen, the front desk attendant interrupted me with her hand and said, "sunscreen, got it," and got on the phone, so I couldn't even tell her about my girlfriend's lack of an orientation tour. Finally, it's been years, but they used to have drinks available. One of my favorite Hawaiian memories involved sipping on a chocolate banana smoothie by the pool. Now the cafe is a gift shop with almost nothing for men, and when I was there, no one running it. I still love being here and enjoying the gorgeous amenities - going nude in the men's area and cycling between the sauna / rainfall shower / whirlpool jacuzzi / steam room is bliss. read more

I've been coming here for years, and a little disappointed in some recent changes. We purchased day passes today, which now have a 3 hour time limit on them. They used to cover the whole day. The thing that is the most frustrated though is that there is an automatic service charge for "service providers" at the spa, but you're not getting a service. The pool and hot tub are amazing, but the vibes of new management and rules and pricing are not. The place used to have the nicest staff, and no restrictions like this around the day pass. Truly a slice of paradise in paradise. My husband and I wanted to end our trip on a high note and saw that Spa Montage was the absolute best of the best on Maui. How right these reviewers were. I received a Swedish massage from the lovely Sun Hee and it was the BEST massage I've ever had in my life. Highly recommend you request her for yours. I hope she's around in a year when we come back! My husband's deep tissue was equally amazing. We opted to receive treatments in the outdoor hale and though the spa warned us there might be construction noise, we were lucky just to hear one loud truck start and then it was peaceful the rest of the time. After, I took a spin through the sauna and whirlpool in the women's only section. I was somehow alone given the early booking (11am) and it was pure magic. The bathroom also has a solid assortment of amenities inside. The final cherry on top was ending our trip in their infinity pool, where a light rain shower helped us feel like we were in a romance movie on some far away land. 10/10 stars for Spa Montage - we'll be back! read more

My husband and I both had a great experience here. Our massages were great, the property is stunning, and the amenities were all nice too. I had originally booked for outdoor massages but due to surrounding construction noises we had to move inside which was a little unfortunate. Nonetheless, the spa was gorgeous and peaceful. Still 5 star service and massages! Everyone here is incredible!! I book with either Bo or Josiefine, depending on which day I can go. They both are so kind and give the best firm pressure massages, in my opinion. But I'll be honest, I've been so spoiled with how good their massages are, I haven't booked with anyone else. Update from my previous review booking. On arrival I was actually greeted this time and walked to the ladies section of the spa and given shoes and a locker. Changing into my swimming costume and wrapping up into the lovely robe provided by the spa I spent a leisurely hour reading in the outside garden and took a break occasionally to laze in the spa pool, followed by a shudder under the cold shower. After showering inside I went to the upstairs indoor ladies lounge to sip on hibiscus tea and nibble on the delightful cake on offer and wait for my facialist to collect me. What an amazing way to spend an hour! My facial was blissful and I hadn't expected the hand, arm and decolletage to be included (I have always had massages in the outdoor garden previously). Warm towels, beautifully scented lotions and potions, exfoliating, massaging, soothing skin balms, it was decadently relaxing and oh so goooood! 20/10 for my facialist. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I felt positively glowing when she finished. I decided facials give you an appetite so I went to the spa's pool area to order lunch, however they aren't offering food service there anymore! So, I had to change and go to the main pool and eat at the pool bar. It is such a pity. Previously I would eat at the spa pool in my robe and relax without having to hike for lunch and leave the spa surroundings. Hence the star off. It wasn't the relaxing lunch I had expected, or enjoyed on previous visits. Back at the spa I changed again and spent the rest of the afternoon in the outdoor garden alternating between spa bath, cold shower, sauna and reading. It was sooo nice to take a day off and spend it relaxing in a spa, being able to find time to read and relax. You don't need to take much to the spa with you. They provide robe and slippers, copious amounts of towels, toiletries (even razors and toothbrushes), hair dryer and brushes, even sunscreen outside. Everywhere there is cool water available, and in the ladies lounge hot teas, fruit and aforementioned cake just in case you get the nibbles. The spa is very clean, staff members were tidying constantly and refreshing supplies of towels, setting up the shower cubicles, making sure there were enough toiletries and keeping the cool water dispensers topped up. I was very happy that they gave me a kamaaina discount when I checked out. When you are a local living on an expensive tourist destination island you really appreciate businesses that extend such courtesy to locals! My mom treated me with a massage this weekend. This was my first time at the Montage. We usually visit spa grande at the Grand Wailea. The spa area is very nice and clean. The eucalyptus steam room was much appreciated since I have asthma and it's been acting up lately. The hot tub within the hydrotherapy area wasn't hot when we first arrived, but by the end of our visit it was pretty warm. The co- ed infinity pool was very relaxing and not too crowded. I got the outdoor massage in the private hale. I was a little nervous that it would be too warm outside, but it was perfectly comfortable. Between the sound of the palm trees swaying in the wind and the soft Hawaiian music playing overhead, it was an ultimate relaxation experience. It was amazing from start to finish. My therapist's name was Susan and she did a great job working out the knots in my neck/shoulders. I loved the hot stones ( I got the lomi Lomi massage) and would definitely recommend adding that if it isn't included in what you have reserved. My only complaint is that they charge an additional fee for visitors and residents that are not staying at the hotel. It's pretty pricey already, it seems unnecessary unless it's a deterrent from having local people on site. Some of us work hard and like to treat ourselves too. read more

I sought out and found Spa Montage when my usual stop in Maui was undergoing renovations. Spa Montage kept coming up in my search for "best spas in Maui" and the photos and quality of service being reviewed convinced me to try them during my recent trip. Well, as I sit in the outdoor hale for the second time in less than a week, I've decided that Spa Montage is going to be my new go to spa when I come to Maui. The location is great, sort of hidden away but easily accessible to Kaanapali and Lahaina within 15 mins. But what really convinced me (and should convince you) is the perfect customer service from the desk staff to the service providers. I had booked a Maui Memories package not realizing it was a package that was serviced indoors in their couple suite. I had it in my head we would enjoy our massages and facials outside. When I checked in, I was told they were both indoors. Seeing the disappointment on my face, the front desk staff stepped up and were amazing! Shout out to Kelani who was calm and understanding. They managed to work the spa schedule and allowed us to have our massages outside and then return inside for the facials. Our masseuses and racialists were fabulous! My husband and I both floated our way post treatments to the infinity pool to enjoy a nice float before cleaning up for dinner. The locker room is clean and always stocked with fresh towels, and toiletries are available on request due to COVID. They have water and tea everyone to keep you well hydrated and offer Coola sunblock if you're headed to the pool for some sun. A great spa shop has all of their products available to purchase if you'd like (try the Osea products or their passion fruit scrub made in Hawaii)- none of the providers pushed any products which I appreciated. If you're looking for top notch luxury without pretension I can't recommend Spa Montage enough! I am currently dreaming about my next visit to Maui so I can return. read more

Book your appointments as early as possible, so that then you can spend the entire day beside their epic infinity pool and hot tub. Take every penny you have, and spend it here. I really wish I could remember the name of my massage therapist because she was just amazing. I got the awa & cacao body experience, and it was heaven on earth. I smelled like a luscious dessert for the rest of the day! I originally wanted to do a hale experience, but they were under renovations at the time, but their staff were super helpful in finding me a comparable experience. Making reservations over the phone was super easy, and we made them a month in advance. We rented a car on the island, so we drove over, and there were plenty of parking spots available. Upon arrival, they were so welcoming and kind. They whisked us away to our respective areas, and they gave us a brief tour. Our appointments weren't until about 2pm, but we arrived there at 11am to enjoy all the other amenities. We literally spent the whole morning in the infinity pool, the jacuzzi, and sunbathing while napping. It was so incredibly peaceful and quiet. This was hands down the best spa experience I have been to, from the amenities to the services and the staff. I cannot wait to return!!! read more

An amazing spa. Over my last trip tried out Four Seasons and Spa Montage. While both had great massages, the setting of the Spa Montage is what sets it apart. A completely separate building from the hotel, it is very luxurious. Get there early and do a workout before spending the day lounging about. You can lounge in the quiet corner where there is a cold waterfall shower and a hot tub. There's also a sauna and steam room. Then you can move out to the infinity pool. Getting a massage in the hale was very nice, and very peaceful. Highly recommend it, just wish there was a way to order smoothies and other healthy foods for a meal. read more

Everyone was very professional and I have nothing but positive things to say about the spa, from the time I talked to the staff on the phone to actually arriving to the place. Even the reception area is beautiful and the locker rooms are very relaxing and clean. A staff member escorted us to the locker rooms and gave us a tour of the locker room and the relaxation area. I decided to go with the lomi lomi massage in a cabana and Bo was awesome and had great pressure. It started raining during the massage and the sound of the rain made the massage even better. After the massage I went upstairs to the relaxation room and grabbed a water and a snack and then went down to the infinity pool. Bo greeted us for our coconut milk bath, which was located in a private cabana and we were then greeted by Chelsea & Liv for our 90 min Maui Romance massage, which was located just right outside the private tub. It was a nice little oasis all to ourselves & I'm definitely coming back again! The massage was magnificent & a great way to end our Maui vacay. The facilities also has a co-ed jacuzzi & infinity pool and there are also separate women's/men's areas with saunas, cool off showers & private jacuzzi in the women's area. Definitely a 5 star spa & worth every penny! Only thing I wish I did was book sooner than 3:30, so I could spend more time doing the amenities since they close at 6pm. I had a facial here in their private room, alongside a friend, and it was relaxing and refreshing. More of a spa facial than anything deep cleansing, and of coarse they hawk the products afterwards, but in a low key way. The experience itself was elegant, peaceful, quiet and set in a large private room that we had all to ourselves to do the facials side by side. The prices are quite high, but considering it comes with all-day access to the spa, its a worthwhile upside. Outside there is a co-ed infinity pool and small jacuzzi accessible only to guests of the spa. If you want privacy, there is a separate men's and women's section complete with adjoining private sauna and steam room. With unlimited in an out privileges, this is a nice option if you want to have an all-day spa experience and are staying nearby. read more

My momma and I splurged on a spa day today at the only 5 star spa on Maui. The facilities are pristine. We spent time in the women's whirlpool, the cold water rain shower, dry sauna and steam sauna as well as in the co-Ed serenity pool and whirlpool. It was a fairly quiet day with only a handful of other guests using the facilities. There were oranges, bananas, fruits and nuts as well as lemon and cucumber water, and cold and hot teas in the relaxation room. The relaxation room was the only room that didn't feel 5 star to us. The furniture was nice, but not inviting or relaxing and there was no spa music playing that would encourage one to relax. It didn't compare to other spas I've frequented. The staff was friendly, everything was clean. The price was fair. I like that they let you leave and come back and you are not able to order in food or drinks. I'll definitely go again and I'll spend more time at the lovely infinity pool read more

Masks must be worn - and OVER both mouth and nose. Wearing a mask on your chin is just a silly fashion anti vax sign of disrespect. Simply put, masks aren't being enforced in the gym. It's sad - that the actions of one/ a few can risk us all as omicron stays in the air for 6+ hours. read more

Update: I absolutely love this spa! There have been some changes over the many years since I started frequenting here and it truly is a place to relax. During my last trip to Maui, and my first since Covid, I had the pleasure of having the bath ritual and massage and it was incredible. The private hale for the treatment was so peaceful and the bathtub was massive with bubbles above my head. My therapist (cannot remember his name!) was clearly well trained and I never felt rushed. We also spent the day at the pool which was very comfortable and all the facilities are well maintained. The staff are wonderful and really make your time there enjoyable. This spa is a true luxury experience. We got an outdoor couples massage which was super relaxing and in a beautiful setting. The spa pool is calming without young children or any rowdy guests. There was plenty of space for everyone to enjoy their time there and did not feel crowded at all. They also have a dry sauna, wet sauna, and waterfall showers that are included. Another great birthday at Spa Montage, Kapalua Bay. I ate my breakfast, lunch and dinner on the lanai of the beautifully decorated women's Spa lounge. The whole experience was serene, and peaceful with spectacular views of Kapalua Bay and Moloka'i. I started off with a one hour one on one yoga session with a wonderful instructor. The state of the art gym is so dynamic, definitely be prepared to spend and hour on the peloton and other modern equipment. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. The outdoor infinity pool and jacuzzi was amazing, with beautiful views of fruit trees and luscious flowers. The manicure/pedicure was perfect, I really loved the decor and serenity. This entire spa is immaculate. What a dream come true, I'll definitely be coming back for my next birthday. read more

Stopped in for a ladies day with the girls. Had a warm welcoming as soon as we got in the door. A serene atmosphere throughout the entire experience. We did the facility package so had access to all the amenities for as long as we stayed. The gym was clean and cool, the pools and relaxation rooms were perfect. I don't know if we were there on a slower day but I really enjoyed how uncrowned it was. Even took some time to slip away to swim in Kapalua Bay which is just down the path. Well, after being cooped up at home for a year. I decided it's time to venture out way out yonder to.....the other side of the island of Maui, Kapalua (LOL). Well for me it always feels like stepping in to another world when driving to the West side of Maui, known for their many hotels, restaurants,beautiful homes, world renowned golf courses and over crowded beaches. Heck it was Christmas, and I decided to treat myself to a pedicure (cause basically that's what I could afford) at this 5 star spa establishment. Prices are very high, but I did like that they didn't charge a non-guest fee which most hotels do. The spa is completely separated from the hotel. So no long walks from the parking to spa. Soon as you walk in through the large grand doors you're greeted by friendly staff, who walk you through what your doing that day. They make sure you've filled out your Covid forms that are available before your arrive, which makes check in smoother. They now offer a flexible cancellation policy up to 3 hours prior, just in case your not feeling well and should caution on the safe side. After check in, the attendant walked me to the women's locker room. She helps you get situated at your locker and points out all amenities. Due to Covid the toiletries are not left out as normal.They are available upon request, but they have everything you may need. Even sunscreen while you enjoy the pool. Some amenities where not available due to Covid. The Eucalyptus steam room and sauna where not available, as well as ordering lunch, and fitness center by reservation only. I quickly got in to my swim suite, robe and slippers and made my way to the pool. The pool are is co-ed so you can meet your someone special there. Lounge chairs where spaced out and it never felt crowded. The infinity pool felt amazing and the jacuzzi was perfect. There where always fresh towels available, and the attendant came around often checking if you needed water, sunscreen and offered snacks as well. They have the best rain showers filled with everything you need to get ready. When it was time for my treatment I went to the waiting area upstairs and was able to enjoy some snacks and sit on balcony and enjoy the ocean views. Soon the nail technician came, walked me to the salon which is down the hall from the treatment rooms. This by far was the best 75 minute pedicure, I chose the island lomi. I sat in the most comfortable pod chair that even had an extension that can hold your leg up while she scrubbed and massaged my leg. Allowing you to really relax. The tropical smells coming from the mask,exfoliate,oils and lotions smelt amazing. And the view! Oh my Lord, the view of the coconut trees and the ocean just made the whole experience one step up from anywhere I've gone to. If you have a Hawaii drivers license they do offer a 10 percent discount. And please remember to tip those attendants. They work hard and are good at what they do. Another tip is if your using spa gift cards make sure to present them at check in, just makes check out quicker. Well, as you can tell I had an amazing time and I can't wait to come back. read more

Love coming here while visiting Maui! The grounds are amazing and the amenities are just what you need for a spa day. They have a men's and women's lounge and a co-Ed outside area with an infinity pool, lounge chairs, and jacuzzi overlooking beautiful Kapalua. You can lounge all day here if you like and order food as well. My friend and I booked 60 minute massages outside in their private huts. The doors open up and there is beautiful greenery and gardens in view. My massage was good but it wasn't anything special. What I didn't like was that there was noise coming from outside it sounded like some kind of machinery or truck or something that wasn't peaceful at all. The last time I came here I didn't experience that. For my blissful massage a natural oil was applied to my skin there were 4 to choose from. Maile oil, ginger orange, vanilla, and there was one more but I can't remember the name. What I love about the oils is that they are all natural and made in Maui. Hot stones were applied and hot towels to help relieve my tightness in my neck. The women's lounge has natural Mamaki tea and dried fruit, water, and they had banana mochi mini cupcakes with furikake and arare on it. A local fave but if you aren't used to eating mochi or furikake you might not like it. I liked it because it was sweet and salty at the same time and had a nice light coconut cream. My favorite thing about this place besides the tranquil views is the hidden private oasis which has a hot soaking bath, a steam room, sauna, and cold waterfall walk way. This area is for women only and bathing suits are optional. It is very peaceful. There is also a gym you can use so you can work out either before or after your appointment. Absolutely love this place! This is my second time here, so until I try another spa on Maui this has to be the best thus far. I live on the other side of Maui, so I make sure whenever I come to this side of the island I make it a day. Mommy needed a little get away and it was about time to pamper myself. I got the Body Bliss Massage with BO, he was amazing! Thank you Bo! I definitely felt like he melted all the knots of stressed I had by the hot stones that were in cooperated in the treatment. I felt like I was on cloud nine or maybe it was that Kava guava Juice they gave me if so it helped numb me out. After my treat I went up to the lounge area, equipped with coconut shredded snacks, fruits & tea. Downstairs I used the bamboo shower, got into the lil outdoor waterfall hot tub, steam room, and sauna; kinda wished the co-ed area has these amenities as well not just the infinity pool. Used to enjoy this SPA but it has gone downhill. Not worth overpriced charges. Used to have lovely flowers in shower/ dressing area now old flowers or none at all. Massage was insipid & unskilled in a hale that had continual loud truck back up beeping noises throughout because some of the the hales are located right next to a delivery road. Should not be giving massages where there is obnoxious noise .The garden is lovely but don't expect a relaxing massage in back outdoor hales. There was no lotion for after a shower & had to ask attendant for some. She gave a thimble size cup & said they don't have lotion out because people will use it?? I've never been to a SPA that doesn't have lotion available. Front desk people helpful when you are there but difficult to reach anyone by phone. A soon to be bride and the bridal party spent our day here for a spa day on April 5, 2022. We had made our reservations weeks in advance so they were aware a group of us would be relaxing together. Little did we know, it would be the quite opposite. Negatives: (oh man..) - Paulie.... She gave off the energy that there was no time for her to assist us but had all the time to provide attitude any chance she could get. I've worked in hospitality for 7 years and her approach to any concern was excessive. When I was shocked by her approach, she proceeded to aggressively emphasize the fact that "we were the problem." This made us so hesitant to be by each other or even laugh on the property. - Claire: was an assistant cleaner? We were offered to all gather in the private area for the remainder of the spa hours as no one else booked. (Probably to try and accommodate for the previous behavior). We were happy and had a great time being able to talk to each other in peace. However, this came to a short end when Claire came into the area, she clearly did not double check with other staff to get her information correct because when she walked in, she threw folded towels on a cart and stormed off saying "I GUESS YOU GUYS CAN JUST DO WHATEVER YOU WANT". ???? We were all uncomfortable at this point. Positives: - Jackie was our main host. She is AMAZING and is the only reason I'm not giving a 1 star. She was sweet, accommodating and great to have conversation with. I wish she stayed our whole day. We were all in awe when she had to clock off. 10/10 give her a raise! Her hospitality exceeded my expectations. Any time I thought about a question or request she was nearby and easy to find. - the property is beautiful and relaxing. Just the scents of walking into the spa made 10lbs of stress release from my shoulders. Overall, I expected a lot more from this place. ESPECIALLY FOR THE UPCHARGE PRICES. I've stayed at the hotel a few times and majority of the staff were so kind! But this spa definitely needs some staff training. Or replacement... the poor hospitality ruined the brides spa day. I won't be recommending to my friends with timeshares or the ones on the island until I hear something is fixed. read more

My husband have traditionally visited the Spa at the Grand Wailea during our trips to Maui. Since we stayed on the Kaanapali side this time, our colleague suggested the Spa at the Montage. I was on the fence about deviating from what we know is good, but so glad we gave it a go! The spa is absolutely beautiful and impeccable. Plenty of showers so one doesn't have to feel cramped during peak hours. My husband and I had the couples massage and I would rate it top 5 best massages I've received. My favorite part was being able to lounge around at the private pool after our treatments. We order lunch and relaxed for a few more hours before heading back to our hotel. It was such a treat. It is on my list for our return trip in a few months. read more
