I had to go to a laundromat to do my bedding, right next-door was serenity spa. I went in and they were able to take me right away, I had Lisa as my massage therapist. It was amazing, I've been having a lot of headaches recently specifically this past week, and after I walked out of there, my headache was gone. She was very informative as to where my headaches were coming from, and how I could potentially prevent them in the future. I will definitely be visiting here again! Highly recommend. read more

In the beginning the lady Ivy in the front seemed nice but a bit strange. I walked in the room at 8:27pm we started around 830pm. I got the 90 min combination massage. As ivy started she told me that unfortunately she's only doing 30 minutes of my back massage and someone else would finish the next 60 minutes which she didn't tell me before and I asked her if she can just continue she said no it's not her job she's the manager. (First Red flag) then as she starts I'm laying face down and I notice the door open and I'm obviously undressed I told her" can you close the door" she closed it but not all the way. I didn't hear it shut all the way but I saw that it was almost fully closed. About 15minutes pass she walks out for whatever reason and comes back AGAIN I didn't hear the door shut but assumed she closed it because #1 privacy I'm sure she knows that right and #2 I just told her earlier to CLOSE THE DOOR! As I'm laying face down undressed and the cover was pulled all the way down to my panty line and a little below another 10-15min pass and I look back and the door is half way open and a male passes by. Like WTH? So it's been open this whole 10-15minutes and now I'm upset and honestly scared and weirded out. Like is this intentional ? Of course it is! I raise my voice and say CAN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR and she barely pushed it closes at most 2 inches. I said again can you close it all the way she pushes it a little more and now she Ivy gets frustrated and has the audacity to say "no one is here no one can see you" excuse me? My whole back and body was uncovered face down and I just saw a male and god knows how many others saw me before I noticed and how dare you even say no one can see me where the hell is my privacy? I got totally sick to my stomach from Ivy. Then her "30" minute part is over and another girl walks in she was sweet and nice but her massage was horrible felt like just tapping my body and very bad. What triggered me more if I was suppose to be done with the 90 minute massage at 10pm since we started at 8:30pm the girl does NOT even touch my feet even though I got the body and feet massage and stops the massage at 9:46pm. I asked her what about my feet and I still have about 15 minutes left and she said oh Ivy never told me you had the combination I said yes I did and she said let me ask her. She comes back and Ivy says oh we started at 820pm that was a lie I walked in at 8:27. And it would still have been short of time then she says "I'll give you 10 free minutes" I corrected her and said you aren't giving me anything for free lol my time was cut 15minutes. The other girl was sweet but the massage was very bad and Ivy was very off and sketchy I've never ever felt so uncomfortable and so scared. I do not recommend this place at all and to be honest I'm not sure but it seemed like Ivy was either just very strange or on something. The worse experience ever I'm definitely going back to my original place and next time waiting when my massage therapist tells me she's busy. read more

To start of the lights were not dimmed, no music, the lady who was giving me a massage had a runny nose & wiped her nose w/ the blanket I had several times! I know, this unsuspecting strip mall massage parlor screams "happy endings!" But it's not. This place is ah-mazing! Whether it's Asian-style or Swedish deep tissue this place will deliver. I promise! I got a Swedish deep tissue and it did not disappoint! I have had massages all over, Grandover in NC, The Whitley in Atlanta, Hotel Del, Rancho Bernardo, La Costa, and others. The lady started out and did a dry massage with the sheet barrier and when I say she got to the deep tissue, I'm telling you she got to the DEEP tissue. I have layers of lovin' to penetrate and she did! She got onto the table with me and used elbows and forearms and I don't know what else. Then she got out the traditional oil and smoothed out the muscles and did more deep tissue. This is only the second time a masseuse has bent my leg and really got into the hip muscles and the lower back where the muscles tense up from sitting all day. The spa is clean and friendly and I swear you need to go! I will be back for sure. read more

The staff is very friendly but I don't think the service was to the quality I expected. I booked for a head spa treatment. The products they used on my hair were cheaper than what I use at home. From what I saw, the products used were Pantene shampoo and conditioner and argon oil. Only three products were used in my hair the entire treatment. Had I noticed the products being used ahead of time, I would have left. The person servicing me was nice but her hands were really rough on my scalp and I found it hard to relax. There was also a language barrier. A translation app had to be used and it was a bit uncomfortable to communicate my needs/concerns so sadly, I just went along with it. Honestly, the whole vibe was really unsettling. I did not feel comfortable. Ultimately, I left with really really frizzy, dry hair but my roots were doused in argon oil five minutes before leaving. I had to come home and rewash and treat my hair myself because of how bad my hair felt which defeats the entire purpose of the service. I essentially paid for a really expensive regular shampooing with low grade products. I felt that the process of overly washing my hair for an hour with only Pantene shampoo rendered my hair to severe damage and I felt like she had limited knowledge on caring for naturally, wavy hair or any hair in general. I rarely get to treat myself and was saddened by my experience here. While the staff was nice, I unfortunately will not be returning and cannot recommend this place in good faith. read more

I brought my cousin from out of town for a massage. She said the massage was alright so at the end we tipped $10 each. The lady refuses to take it and says it's too little and need more. IM SORRY but I am not required to give a tip. She kept insisting more and my cousin stated that it's not required. The boss opened the door and said something in their language to where the lady ended up accepting the $10 each tip. Then the boss comes out of the office and gives me a bad glare! Serenity Hi, I've been a patron for a year. I found Spa Serenity when they first reopened. My first visit was incredible. Mary and I talked about her life in China, her career in Vegas, and a tonne of other things. We connected. She was motherly and caring. The massage was exactly what I was looking for. I went about 3x a month. They were very interested in building their clientele. I was delighted each time. I shared my delight with hundreds on social media. In December I had a horrible experience. They had a new person who had zero massage experience. She hurt my body. I kept trying to be patient, but she put insane pressure on my knees and clearly had no knowledge of human anatomy. I was angry because I think they just put a newcomer in a room-obviously untrained. As a person who has loved asian massage for over 20 years, I was baffled. I paid, and did not tip. They let me pay, despite me telling them how painful the experience was. I should've ended it earlier but I felt bad. I communicated my discomfort. I was told to come in for a free massage. I did. It was fine. I tipped well. I'm wondering if I offended a family member. Perhaps a new person arrived and needed to make ends meet. It is well known in the circle of Asian massage that families often live on site. One can hear this reality. The food, the kids, the conversations. I feel 100% okay with this and realize it's a way to survive and make ends meet. Happy to support! I'm used to the interruptions, the change of masseuses, the often loud nature. I accept that as part of the experience. However, I have now had an additional experience that is harsh! Today my leg was burned. I'm used to the hot cloths, they always open them briefly to let the steam out-but not today. I felt she was angry from the beginning. She didn't greet me. Shoved my face from side to side. Didn't do the face massage. Definitely not graceful. Grunted at me to move this way or that way. It was just strange! Not a massage atmosphere. I really wanted to be a lifetime loyal customer. I spent 15 years at one salon, tutored their kids, made an excellent long standing relationship built on trust. At Spa Serenity there's no consistency. I think I made a mistake when I complained. I had good faith that it would be fixed. I cannot believe how I've been treated. I'm not interested in any free massages. I just don't want anyone else to be treated as I have been. Super aggressive and angry. So-full disclosure; I went to pay today, super upset. I made that clear when it ended in the room. She aggressively took my card, I simply looked at her and pounded a $5 tip in. She started yelling at me! $5!!! I said, you hurt me! Are you mad at me? You burnt my leg! I get here for my massage. Show them my Groupon and they set me up in a room. Get my massage, which actually felt amazing finally felt relaxed then time was up I go to leave they won't let me. No one speaks any English so they can tell me why I assume it's the Groupon I show them again. They take my phone pit of my hand start pushing buttons. Then call their boss, who is the only one that speak English and she has me text her a picture of the Groupon arcade and type code. I do she says she can't process it by her phone. Tells me to hand the phoen to her worker then I'm told I need to sit here and wait for the owner to get here. I try to walk to sit down and they block the door as if I'm trying to leave. I began getting facials and massages at Serenity Spa in Poway shortly after they opened and was a pretty regular client. Once Covid restrictions eased I returned to my custom. The last time I was there was the last time I will ever be there. I didn't notice I'd been charged for deep tissue (which I did not ask for or receive) Until after I left. The fact that the counter clerk accosted me about the amount of tip I left the therapist had me too angry to pay close attention. I usually tip 20%, less when service is so so. I recently went here after a work trip. I got the combination massage with the foot one. The girl that did my massage was amazing! Right away she knew I had a lot of tension on my shoulders and she worked on my knots. I told her that that's what hurt the most and she mainly focused on my shoulders which I enjoyed. I called the day beforehand to confirm the time, appt type, massage therapist, and pricing but it was as if that conversation didn't happen. When I arrived, the receptionist(?) was sitting in the customer area and didn't greet me, just stuck out her hand to take the gift card I was holding...I didn't know if she was customer or an employee. She spoke some English but not enough for us to communicate effectively. I went back for my treatment and a man came in. I had requested Sherry and don't even see a male therapist on their website, so I as very uneasy when he came in the room. He also didn't speak any English so it was uncomfortable trying to get him to leave. After he left, the woman from the front desk came in, claiming to be Sherry, despite the fact that she looked nothing like the girl on the website. Lastly, the music that was playing during the 80 min msg was coming from her phone and on YouTube, so I heard KFC and alarm ads throughout. Would not go back even for the great price.
