I was hesitant in coming in because of the mixed reviews I seen here,but gave it a shot anyway. I had the BEST foot massage (which is pretty much a full body massage) with Mary. The face, scalp, shoulder massage was heavenly and so was everything else. She checked in on pressure a few minutes in and also checked in when she got to the bottom half. It was absolutely glorious. I kept giving her a thumbs up so she knew I was thoroughly enjoying it. Writing this as I'm about to call them to book another massage. The one hour foot massages are $35. I tipped $20 - it was well deserved and she seemed very happy with it. That's still one of the cheapest massages I've had. read more

We've been coming to get 90 minute couples massage from Tiffany and Sherry for some time. 90 minutes of great relaxation, including hot stones and excellent massage for great price! A couple weeks back, after a long week at a user conference with some ill-fitting shoes, I had developed a very painful bursitis in the back of my heel. My fiancé scheduled a couples massage for us both to unwind. We told my masseuse, Sherry that I had this sore spot, only to let her know to be careful with me. Sherry went into the back room and came back with some tiger balm where she did some deep tissue massage into my heel. Well that did hurt, but she told me I'd be better tomorrow. She was correct! I have never been so PLEASED with a massage before. My masseuse Maggie was beyond amazing. I told her I wanted an hour massage but to spend 15 minutes on my face. I do this because my face tends to bloat so I noticed massages helps my face debloat and get sculpted. Not a lot of masseuse know how to do a proper lymphatic drainage so I wasn't expecting much but Maggie definitely knew what she was doing. I could tell because she was hitting all the right pressure points. Not to mention she went above and beyond and took my make up off then massaged my face. I can say without a doubt that her face massage technique is even better than the pricey med spas I go to in La Jolla. Well, it has been two years since my last review and I still come here. I love everything about this place! Sherry is AMAZING!!! I work a job where my knots are constant and Sherry always kneads them out. She's INCREDIBLE. I also love how clean and inviting Spa Serenity is. I am never worried about cleanliness here. Li is also so very sweet and friendly. I had been sick for three weeks and thought that I was getting better. I had to cancel last minute and Li was super understanding and kind. I was able to rebook my appointment with no problem at all. I felt so bad for canceling last minute, but I didn't wanna make anyone sick. I don't usually give massage spa 1 star even all they did was to apply massage oil on me. This one is a MUST NOT GO place. It seems like they only have one massage therapist available, who is always not available. The store says it opens 10am Sunday--which was a good news. I walked into the place 11:00, was told "no one is currently available. All booked but they have 12:00 available." I said okay, then waited until 1:00 pm as I needed to do something, when I walked again, the Chinese receptionist told me "no, we don't have anyone available""you need to make an appointment" then started to explaining that their customers all need to make an appointment, they are busy all the time. Seriously, I looked into the rooms--all are empty. The receptionist advised that she could give me a coupon--no, sorry, I don't need it. It is a waste of my time and energy so I will never ever come back again. I am usually not an angry customer but the way she talked was arrogant, pointing figures to me, instead of simply suggesting that all customers of theirs need to make appointments . If I were told that way the first time I walked into this place, I would certainly make an appointment and not to drive back to waste may time. Do NOT come here for a walk in. Do NOT come here if you expect people treat you well. Not sure about other services but certainly they only have one or two massage therapists there. Very limited selections. Period. Apparently they now have 1 man whom "can do deep tissue massage" and he just isnt very comprehensive. I dont appreciate being lied to and being provided with sub par massage. read more

So I walked in to this place without an appointment to see if I could get a massage. The guy frowned at me and said they only had a male masseuse right now. I really appreciated him telling me because I had a bad experience before when they didn't tell me. I've had male masseuse before so I didn't mind, but I think he saw me hesitate for a second. Anyways He took me to the room which was down a very nice dimly lit spa-esque hallway. He told me to take my clothes off and put them in the box provided and to lay face down. Again I really appreciated this because I've been to places that expect you to know what to do. Anyways the guy must have told the masseuse that I hesitated for a male masseuse because he acted really weird when he came in, maybe he just is really weird? who knows. He at one point said "scared?" and I was confused...if i wasn't should i be? What is he talking about...i didn't say anything... He asked me about 5 mins in if the pressure was good, again I appreciated that. He was very good. Sometimes i even prefer male masseuse because they have stronger bigger hands. Anyways overall it was a very nice and relaxing massage. When I walked out my masseuse was waiting there with water for me, and when I paid I tipped him on my credit card thing which I'm not sure he knew because as I walked out he stared at me as I walked out...I hope he gets the tip from the credit card slip? Overall It was a good experience despite some weirdness with the masseuse, oh and I also think it would have been better if the music was louder. I could hear it playing somewhere outside the room but not inside the room, so it was kind of too quiet. Just got a one hr rose foot reflexology by Amy. I did read a few of the reviews so I went in prepared for anything and hoping for the best. I did spend only $30 but this is one of those definite moments where you get what you pay for. Within the first five minutes of me being there I knew I had probably made a mistake. I was put in the room behind the curtain that was just 5 feet away from the front desk. I could hear customers paying and talking as they were leaving and this was very distracting despite the relaxing music that was playing overhead. A woman came and put my feet and a bucket that was outlined with a plastic liner and lukewarm water that smelled faintly of Rose. The plastic liner was extremely tacky and the fact that the water wasn't even hot really bothered me. Still, I really wanted to have a positive experience here so I let these little things slide. The chair that I was sitting in was actually very comfortable but then I was expected to keep my feet in this bucket of lukewarm water which then made it incredibly uncomfortable for my feet. My toes were crunched and also the fact that the water was gone cold was also uncomfortable. At this point I actually had thoughts about stopping the reflexology altogether and just saying "you know what? this is just NOT going to work for me". They are smart in the fact that they have you pay for your services before they are actually rendered. I try to close my eyes and tried zoning in on the music because I reminded myself that I deserved to have a relaxing break from my very busy life. With that said, this was not it. The woman who worked on me seemed to have no passion or love her job at all. She rubs lotion on various parts of my body and a few times I even heard her sigh as if she didn't want to be there. After about 10 minutes of her just rubbing lotion on me, I insisted on more pressure and I did this politely. The parts of the massage that I did enjoy where the parts where she rubbed my hands and scalp. Again I so wish there would've been more pressure but it was much akin to getting a rub down by a robot. At the end of this reflexology, I was determined to leave no tip because I was not satisfied. That being said, I requested a copy of my receipt and still had of the girl a five dollar tip because she was awkwardly hanging out by the register like a panhandler would. If you have $30 to spend I would highly suggest going to your local pharmacy and investing in some eucalyptus Epson salt. Buy a couple of cheap candles and draw a hot bath. Play some calming music and close your eyes. Just trust that this experience will surpass anything you might get at this supposed spa. The last thing that I want to say is that the whole time this woman was touching me, I kept wanting to know if she was licensed in anything. I would not believe that she was a licensed masseuse, nor so I think that she has ever even taken a class on reflexology before. I am almost certain that the only pressure point she knew was the way my $5 tip felt when it reached the palm of her hand. Please learn from my experience and don't go here. Ever. read more

I have been coming on and off for a couple years and my last two experiences were awful. They walk in and out of the massage room when someone else comes in and then they don't make up the time they are gone. This time when the massage was over and it was time to tip I told them the amount and they would not accept my tip and told me it wasn't enough. I raised my original amount and they again said no it wasn't enough and told me I needed to pay $40 for tip. I have never been told them amount I need to tip and the massage was not at all good enough to receive this amount. The customer service is terrible and the massage was ok at best. Spa Serenity is your typical asian massage. Asian spas have been around in the states awhile so many should be accustomed to what you get but in case you don't know, here is the difference between a massage you might get at a upscale spa and that of an asian massage house: 1. Massage therapists barely speak english so communication is about nil 2. The pressure they apply can be extremely hard without letting up even when you ask because of the language barrier 3. The massages follow a routine pattern that they will likely never deviate from. So if you want concentration in a particular area, good luck communicating that to them. They will likely respond, "yes, yes, okay" and then go about their routine without changing anything. 4. They usually stretch or pull your limbs at one point of the massage 5. They don't pay attention to American modesty so there might be a few very quick moments where you lay bare Now on to my review..... I really like Spa Serenity because they are fairly good and inexpensive. The facility is nice. There is a reception separate from the massage area. The massage area is divided up into rooms by curtains. The lights are dim and soft music plays in the background. The 60 minute foot massage is the best bang for your buck. Plus it's nice for people that are really modest because you can leave your clothes on. It's $30 for an hour and they pretty much get your entire body. I suggest wearing loose clothes. Also for the ladies, ditch your bra and make sure you don't wear a nice top because they use lotion and go under your shirt a little. Usually the massages can be very hard but it seems like every time I go with my spouse, he gets the stacked line backer lady who puts him into good pain. However, I seem to always get a petite lady that is softer which is nice sometimes. I's suggest making an appointment and asking for what you want. They might not understand though. Cross your fingers and hope you get what you want. What I'm finding a lot in the Poway, Rancho Bernardo and Carmel Mountain area are asian spas that are trying to act like an actual luxurious spa. So they have higher prices, nicer and tranquil facilities but the massage and technique is basically the same. That's why I love Spa Serenity. They keep their prices reasonable and affordable. read more

Came here for the first time for a foot massage for 60min $30. You pay up front and are taken into a dimmed room separated by curtains. They switched ladies on me 15minutes into the massage which was fine. They start by putting your feet in a pail of warm water, then start the massage in your head, face, neck. They don't explain much as to what they are doing or using on you and your face, it kind of startled me that she was putting something on my face for a foot massage. The foot massage was great and so was the body massage. I agree with the tip Notation at the front desk, it shouldn't be there, should be based on satisfaction of service. The $30 foot massage is such a wonderful deal! The only negative aspect is that my toes were just a little uncomfortable in the tub as my feet were soaking, but besides that tiny issue, I loved it! I'm kind of picky when it comes to my massages, so this means a lot coming from me! Positives: great full-body massage (about half of the time), along with excellent foot reflexology massage. Very good pressure, but not too much. Excellent understanding of body anatomy and pressure points. Focused on the parts of my body that feel the best when massaged: neck, scalp, hands and forearms, feet, shoulders, back. I actually like not having to strip down for this massage. Just wear some athletic shorts or tights and a t-shirt or running/workout top for the best comfort. Yes, you're only separated by a curtain from others, so it's best when it's not crowded (I went at 2 on a weekday and was the only person), but they usually separate people as much as possible. In the past, the ticking of the wall clock bothered me, but this time a fan and the peaceful music drowned out the ticking. My masseuse was Wendy today, but the other times I've been here (about eight times in all), the masseur/masseuse was just as good. Don't expect a conversation, as they generally only speak Mandarin (except the receptionist). But it's great if you want to practice, "Xie Xie"! read more

Do it. Don't listen to the negative reviews. My wife and I came here before going on a date night and so glad we did. We got the 1 hr Chinese herb foot reflexology massage for $30. They start off by soaking your feet in warm water in a bucket lined in plastic. Some say its cheesy etc. I look at it as protection. When done they throw it away and put a new one in for the next person. If you have a big foot it may be smushed but you can posistion yourself to where it is. Now to the massage. First off My wife and I regularly get deep tissue massages so we like a lot of pressure. The lady that did mine had perfect pressure (strong hands.) Started to fall asleep at one point. My wife's was weak at first but she told the lady and she immediately did it with more pressure. The leg and back massage was good for what little they do since this is a foot massage package. All in all it was worth every penny and my feet were loving me for it. read more
