We started with smoked old fashioneds (could have been just a tad sweeter, we didn't notice any sugar cube added as indicated), the Brussels sprouts appetizer was hands down THE BEST we have ever had. Crispy outer leaves and thoroughly cooked halves. The glaze was so good and the bacon ! We were only going to eat half and bring the rest home, but we couldn't stop and ate them all! Our first visit at Mio's was outstanding! The atmosphere and service was awesome. We didn't have reservations and they were busy but we were seated immediately. Our server, Devyn made some excellent dinner suggestions. I had my all time favorite Veal Saltimbuca. It was perfection! I am a North Jersey gal and I am accustomed to really good Italian food and Mio's surpassed my expectations. The veal was so tender, the sage sauce was beyond delicious and the spinach risotto was the icing on my cake! The portion sizes are more than adequate. One thing and my pet peeve - the side of linguini was not completely drained. My dinner companions very much enjoyed their entrees of the lasagna and the stuffed Flounder with crab royal special. Our Appy of antipasto was dressed nicely and was plentiful for three. The bread was crusty on the outside and tender on the inside. Desserts were over the top, bread pudding was so good served warm and with vanilla ice cream. We also shared the lemon berry mascarpone cake- yummy! Pistachio and espresso martinis were strong but good. We'll be back soon. Very enjoyable. My only regret was that I hadn't tried them earlier. read more

Very disappointing! I went in with a friend for dinner. I ordered Chicken Marsala. When it came out, it was smaller than I expected, but it smelled delicious. That was, until I found a piece of cardboard in it. (Yes a piece of cardboard about 1/2" x 1"). The staff was more than nice and apologetic. They replaced it with another chicken Marsala as quickly as they could (it took about 5 minutes). This second meal was average at best. The chicken was cooked, but not well. There was a LOT of sauce on it - and I never say that. It seemed as though they really rushed to get it done quickly but not very well. It wasn't worth complaining about this second version, so I just dealt with it. They did NOT comp my meal, but they did offer a free dessert (I guess to save them $). I took a tiramisu to go. It tasted like something that came out of a box from a grocery store. Disappointed again! It was our first time there. We will not be going back. read more

We had a wonderful dinner here on Friday night. We had chicken piccata, linguine with white clam sauce and Caesar salad. Everything was delicious. Service was friendly and impeccable. Great Gluten Free options, especially for those of us with Celiac. Shocked that hardly anywhere in OC has "Surf & Turf" on the menu. Mio's was the best option to make my own. Although we weren't fond of one of the highly obnoxious tables behind us (they legit dropped their infant child), overall it's a nice place. They can't control the patrons per se. I think we expected a little bit higher class but we are comparing to Texas and it seems no steak houses or Italian restaurants here are. Not a big deal. We down this way because of the people mostly. Just not our style. We were so worried when we saw the steak come out. My husband actually said "Oh man... this looks like ground beef". Shockingly it was absolutely delicious. Certainly beat out anywhere we'd been for steak. We normally cook our own, and he still thinks ours win, but this was a close second. The lobster tail was great too! We were both really fond of the mashed potatoes. So creamy! I'm going to try to make similar ones at home. Crème brûlée was VERY good! Ate there on Friday and was really surprised. Veal Parm was the best I've ever eaten. A nice size piece that was thick enough and pasta. Sauce was delightful. My husband had the broccoli rabe which he thought was spectacular. His filet was good and cooked perfectly. Mt bread pudding was actually wonderful. Took it home and it lasted all weekend- too much for one serving but perfect over a few days. Our server Brit was lovely and helpful. We'd eat there again and recommend it to locals. I had a casual dinner party on a Thursday night at Mio Fratello's last Thursday night, 22 guests attended. The food was very good, the service was outstanding and them ambiance was excellent. This was a first time experience at Mio Fratello for many in our party but everyone wants to have other get events there in the near future! On a recent visit, we tried a new item on the menu. A charcuterie board. (They call it a Sharing Board). The items on the board are excellent and very high-quality items including meats, cheeses, fruits, crackers and nuts. It's plenty for two (or possibly three). We also shared an entree. We returned here most recently twice with our friends for happy hour dinner and lunch. I will summarize both of our most recent dinner and lunch visits here: Our first visit was at 4 pm for happy hour dinner. We sat at a table in the bar area. The bar area restaurant patrons were very loud and boisterous, especially the larger table adjacent to our table of four. Keno was also available. I enjoyed my best martinis. I also enjoyed my blackened flounder over a choice of salads. I opted for the Caesar salad. My flounder was excellent, because it was not over cooked and very moist, which I prefer. My Caesar salad was also moist and excellent. Our total bill was $84 excluding gratuity. This is why we returned here again with our same friends. Our most recent visit was on Sunday at noon for lunch to watch the 1 pm football games at the bar. We sat on the corner of the bar. You can participate in the football pool and/or keno. I started with and enjoyed a bloody Mary. I also again enjoyed my blackened flounder over Caesar salad although my flounder was more over cooked and less moist compared to last time. Our first time visiting and we will be back. Great staff with friendly service and honest input regarding their menu options. Their daily specials are well priced and tasty. The stuffed eggplant app is very good and one is enough for 2 people. Portions are large enough to share. They make very good cocktails and their chocolate martini is one of the better ones around the shore. They are known as an Italian steakhouse but I only saw two cuts of steak available on the menu, a filet and a porterhouse. read more

This long time family restaurant recently changed their name to simply -Mio. We came here on a Friday night to see a show, and they sat us upstairs along with the other show goers. It was a really great area to have a meal before the show and we were offered several entrées for the price of admission to the Show. I had the steak Diane, which was incredible. The side items were wonderful as well. My SO had the chicken Parmesan and Raved about it all night. The one thing that both of us noticed here was the teamwork amongst the staff. Everyone thought it was their duty to refill your water glasses or drinks. Everyone felt it was their duty to clear your items from the table, a real team effort at Mio's. I don't usually write a review after only one visit, but we have a multitude of friends who have been coming here for years and they all say it's five star. Since our experience was five star, I'm submitting this review and hopefully the review readers will get a chance to stop in and see for themselves just how good this place is. read more

I enjoy coming to Mio's except tonight Patrick was my server. He never checked on me and came over once to bring me my drink/app other than that it was impossible to put in another drink order or entree after 30 minutes. He avoided eye contact with me after I kept trying to get his attention, he was hiding in the back while the other bartender patty was serving the rest of the restaurant. I never met this man before but he acted like he had a vendetta against me. I had to ask for the check he came over speechless gave it to me so I could get dinner elsewhere otherwise I would be there all night waiting for him to bring out the entree when i specifically went there for the special. Next time I go there I will make sure Pat is my server never Patrick he sucks! read more
