Maybe they had a lot of online orders but they definitely need to work on their time management. I get home and they forget my wife's torta. I tried calling but can't talk to someone because all their calls go to voice mail. Left a message. When I get there I explain to them what happened. They seemed lost and ask me what was missing. I tell them again. I had to repeat myself a third time. Ran out of patience. By now I don't want to wait another 30 minutes for food. Just asked for my money back and left. Had to repeat myself again for the refund also. Thanks for nothing Spanglish. I got to come home to an upset wife and a cold dinner. No sorry no nothing. Spanglish Kitchen is my weak spot for comfort food. Their tacos are not the best I've ever had, but they are solid. My favorites are: -Fried Shrimp -Fried Fish -Al Pastor -Steak My must-have when I go is the Fried Shrimp because it is always fried to crispy and juicy perfection. Biting into one of these is such a fond memory for me. They make their own salsas and the hot one is actually pretty dang hot. I usually do mild and it has a nice kick of spice. I also love the charm of the place and eating outdoors. It is perfect for cool summer nights and there's a liquor store next door so you can also grab a beer to go with your food! Wish there had been a tad more onions and cilantro and a little more seasoning would have made these tacos a solid 4 almost 5! I will try and make this short and to the point. Having been in the meat industry for 25 years, you guys may be able to fool the vast majority of customers, but I am not one. Trying to sell beef chuck aka beef shoulder meat as carne asada in your burritos is false advertising and crooked minded. There are 3 cuts of meat that are supposed to be used when claiming its carne asada. The owner can reach out to me so I may educate them. Using tough chewy bland cuts of chuck meat that is loaded with gristle and sinew is NOT Carne asada. That burrito was absolutely disgusting and I feel like I was ripped off. Spanglish, I am speaking on behalf of all customers, please make this right. Your prices are constantly going up while the quality shoots down. I have pictures of the cheap, low grade meat that I had to spit out because I could not chew through the chunks of gristle and sinew. If you don't know what cuts to use, I can assist. This place makes no sense i tell ya, NO SENSE. Absolutely perplexed by their great ratings. I've lived around the corner for 7 years and have now tried Spanglish a total of 5 times (and each time they never fail to disappoint). Yesterday, my housemate and I thought we'd give 'em yet another shot. Even at the most generous, we gave 'em a 5 out of 10. I was scared perhaps there was something off with my my taste buds! Until the housemate affirmed, there simply is no flavor. How do they stay in business? And why, people? Why?? Years ago on my very first visit, i ordered a carne asada burrito bc of all things, i thought any self-respecting Mexican joint cannot get this wrong. Turns out, I was wrong. They give you very little lettuce., mostly long leaf cabbage (yuck) tiny pieces of tomatoes (disappointed), two kernels of corn (I had to look for them) five grilled shrimp, red onion (small amount) and a lime dressing which was good but not enough. Overall, the salad was disappointing. They try to cover it up by putting in a lot of cabbage. They need a lot more corn, bigger pieces of tomato, lettuce, not so much cabbage. The food is good, pricey but good. The service is usually good. One of the staff members, a female, is always great; she's friendly and provides great customer service. The last time I ordered though, I was told my order would take 15 minutes, it actually took close to 35 minutes. I don't blame the staff, they have a lot going on, I see them working hard, taking and filling orders and refilling the sauces. This is a management/owner issue, it seems to me that management might have cut staff and therefore orders are taking long to fill. Management needs to provide better staffing or they will lose business 9/29 Update: they don't answer the phone. I called 3 times to try to place an order, they don't pick up. I resorted to placing an order through Yelp (GrubHub) and it said it would be ready in about 40 minutes. Forty minutes for one breakfast burrito? Ridiculous. But fine, I placed the order and waited. Ever since we tried this place several months ago, we've never stopped going. In fact, it's pretty much our go-to place. Yes, we like it THAT much. I have tried their mole chicken enchiladas, shrimp green enchiladas, veggie enchiladas, veggie nachos, caldo de pollo, crispy potato tacos, charbroiled chicken salad, flan, café de olla, watermelon and pineapple agua fresca and the brew-chata. Another attempt to find decent Mexican in our new neighborhood. Ordered their pastor quesadilla, beef enchiladas, and pollo asado fries. Overall - tasty + pretty well portioned for the price point! The pastor was well seasoned. Quesadilla had lots of yummy cheese! The fries were a bit undercooked and not my fav cut (similar to in-n-out aka soggy) tho. No guac or pico de Gallo - Just lots of pinto beans. Kinda odd? The chicken was pretty well cooked however. Don't forget to ask for all their salsas! Made a hugeeee difference in taste! Waste of money. The Asada used to be very high quality, low fat and flavorful. Now it's low quality full of grease and straight up pieces of fat. I don't use a phone to read menus and I don't have that technology on my cell phone. No paper menus with prices = no business from me. And I appreciate it if staff could make an attempt to understand my English. 02/27/2023 The San Gabriel Valley has a number of wonderful stand-alone restaurants with take-away or dine out options. EL SUPER BURRITO on Colorado rates high on my list (it is recognizable by the menu that has prices next to the items). There are also numerous TACO trucks every which way. If I could I would give 0 stars for my experience. We started off with them not having a working card machine which is understandable sometimes wifi is off. So we went to get cash from the atm next door. After we came back the cashier was shocked as if they did not want customers. He also couldn't answer my question as to which cheese options they had. We waited about 30-40 mins for our food and once it arrived we immediately checked it as we felt uneasy by the staff and watched them cooked without gloves, on their phones, wiping their face, and Ofcourse we found a piece of rolled up paper in the food. Disgusted we wanted a refund! Julian after an hour and a half of waiting here to eat also laughed in my face as I was requesting a full refund for the food I did not eat. After calling the owner Jason who handled the situation great a refund was given but because we took a sip of the drink while waiting they did not want to give us a refund for that, once again I called Jason back and he called them to give me a full refund. Julian's behavior and overall demeanor towards the situation was extremely awful I felt extreme anxiety and will unfortunately never come back here along with my entire family. Today I got the chicken burrito. Good size but not so huge that you have to share. Basic with marinated chicken, rice & beans with cilantro and onions. Medium hot sauce just the right heat. I came here after church as I was in the area and craving a quesadilla. The line was pretty short and we were able to place and pickup our order in less than 10 minutes. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and was a bit disappointed with what I received... The quesadilla was on the greasier side and the only fillings were cheese and chicken. I personally prefer when quesadillas have veggies such as bell peppers and onions to provide more texture & flavor. I was half way through the first half of this torta when I remembered to take a picture hahah. I always get the chicken milanesa torta. It comes with chips and a grilled jalapeño. One of my favorite tortas to order. The chicken is not dry and very easy to bite into. The chips are crispy and go really well with their red salsa which is not spicy. First off, the menu is extensive, they have it all, burritos, tacos, chilaquiles, etc. They have a variety of meats to choose from including chicken, chorizo, carne asada, al pastor. And the prices are pretty decent. I stopped by for an order to go and grabbed 4 tacos. My wait wasn't very long and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I loved my tacos, my only complaint is that I wish I ordered more. Keep in mind to park on the side streets as theirs lot is very small and cramped. Also, all seating and ordering of food is outdoors. There is a small side patio for you to enjoy your food if you choose to eat there. I always order for pickup here and the staff is on point. Very nice people and they are organized. My only complaint would be the food. Though it isn't bad per se but if you're craving for anything remotely 'Mexican' this isn't it, not even close. My wife likes this place and whenever she felt like ordering her usual tacos I might as well add mine (asada burrito, tacos) along the bag. But don't expect anything it's just a burrito wrapped with four tortilla with rice, beans and some beef, and more rice and beans! As for the tacos, they are dry and the corn tortillas are not your usual 'soft' and pliable kind. Taste-wise it isn't what I'm used to - say compare to King Taco or the usual late-night taco stands in L.A., but you can't complain for being in such a great and safe area. The worse part? Their 'salsa' - either red or the creamy (?) habanero, they're hot alright but extremely bland! No depth to the sauces whatsoever. The solution? I mixed and concoct own version of hot sauces at home with them to my satisfaction, at least. Anyway, if you're looking for easy 'Mexican flavor' to fix your hunger without the long wait.
