The waiter gave us plenty of time to view the menu, (there is a lot of choices) we ordered 2 shrimp and garlic for appetizers they were delicious at least 15 shrimp per order,yes we love garlic and there could have been more but I do not rate on my personal preference, as restaurants need to cook for the masses as we know..The 3 dishes pictured below were delicious and plenty on the plate. Now I want to say right up front that 4 stars instead of 5 is entirely my fault and you'll read why in the review. This place has that old school vibe that reminded me of when I first started to go out to eat at better restaurants and order "exotic " food like stuffed mushrooms. Shared appetizers of clams in a delicious broth with a cilantro kick instead of parsley and shrimp in garlic sauce with a bottle of very reasonable priced Chardonnay began our meal. All was seasoned perfectly and just what I hoped for. I had the NY strip steak cooked medium rare with the Day Boat scallops which probably would have been better if it was cooked just medium. I've done this before and found this steak responds better to the knife if it's cooked just medium. It was swimming in a garlic butter sauce with their traditional side of homemade potato chips and some artfully cut carrots and broccoli. My husband had the Veal Chop with mushrooms and real mashed potatoes. That was amazing . Where do we begin on this one. If you look at this place's rating on google of 4.3 - don't even believe it for two seconds. Portuguese Spanish food is my expertise. This place offers none of it. The proper temperature of the steak had to be repeated four times as the waitress would repeat it wrong. And they still made it WRONG!! No taste of marinated steak. *Alert* all the negative reviews are trash. Now that that is out of the way, I don't know where to start about how much I love not just this place, the food and the atmosphere. I tried this place once before in 2015 at its location off of Mantaloking when we ordered take out and I was surprised it was as good as it was. Early May my sister and I happened into it during lunch and the love was reignited. The lunch spread was phenomenal and FRESH! We then ordered a meal to split Panche(spelling) and it was fantastic. Cooked to perfection and great size to share. If would have ordered two we would have been in trouble. Our server Paula was amazing as well and so friendly. The second time I went there I took my mom and it was also fantastic. And my mom loved it. Being Hispanic herself, she kept saying she could taste the authenticity like her friends mom used to cook growing up and she also loved the atmosphere and ambiance. Mary was it sever and even though the special I had ordered with my sister wasn't avail she made it happen and I was not disappointed. Tasted just as flavorful as the first (second) time. The most recent time was this past wknd with the entire family and I am still In.Love.with.this.place! The food is absolutely delish, the service is exceptional and yes it may be a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. And that is an extraordinary family food focused experience. Some tips: can't go wrong with The steaks. They are cooked to perfection, and huge! Please start with the shrimp in garlic oil appetizer (ask for extra bread for dipping) to soak up all that liquid gold goodness. The Spanish Potato is an interesting place for Brick, I went here quite a while ago, and don't know why it took me so long to return. Considering it was Valentines night, the service was good. I think on a normal night it would be better and quicker, but really no complaints. The food was alright. Paella was just OK it lacked flavor, and seasoning. Overall it was a little bland. It was not bad, but nothing to rave about, I have had better, I might be being picky and I do want to try some of the other dishes I wanted my tastebuds to be knocked off there feet, and that didn't happen. Missing our favorite Portuguese Restaurant that has been closed for some years, but found this wonderful place on Yelp. Cannot thank you enough for the find! We did a take out order for our family at approximately $40.00/person and have leftovers for another meal - the portions are enormous. Loved all the dishes - every one was hot, delicious and satisfied our hankering for food from the 'old country'. We'll venture to dine in next time. Crispy potatoes are soooo good. Surf and turf was horrible and steak wasn't cooked at all and lobster was over cooked Food was severed on hot plate but mashed potatoes and spinach were very cold. I'm a big fan of Spanish and Portuguese food so I tend to be critical. My favorite is the shrimp and garlic. Deciding to put this restaurant to the test that is what I ordered. The presentation was nice with 3 large prawns with heads on but the dish was a little light on the garlic and seasoning. So I always forgot that this Portuguese restaurant is overpriced. Being in the middle of suburban and Senior Citizen America it can get away with it. Especially considering the food is not all that good. Certainly not generous portions traditionally served at Portuguese establishments. We found this restaurant on line and were intrigued with the menu. All our favorites from restaurants up north were there and a few other items to tantalize us into going. I called and made a reservation and bought a bottle of wine, as this is a BYOB establishment. This typically tells me the food will be the star, as they aren't concerned with trying to sell me over priced cocktails, which proved to be the case. I was greeted with a smile, shown to a lovely table and our server Tim appeared very quickly and engaged us delightfully as he opened our wine, brought us waters and told us about all the special selections that Chef Manny had as options that night. We chose 3 appetizers: Escargot, Mushrooms stuffed with crab meat, and chorizo. All three were delicious and the chorizo was a special treat because they cook it at the table in a special dish and make it crispy to perfection on the outside. Between the three choices and a some delicious bread we were pretty full, but knowing leftover are always a choice we pushed on. We had a three pound lobster and Paella done two different ways. The lobster was outstanding and the paella was fantastic. Loaded with delicious saffron rice and the most exquisite fresh ingredients, including shrimp, scallops, mussels, lobster, clams, and more chorizo it was a flavor feast out of this world. We did our best but these pots of food were our match and we ended up stuffed and going home with big portions of food to be savored at another time. Tim saw how delighted we were and had Chef Manny come by to get our compliments and feedback. First of all we were served Wonder Bread version of Portuguese bread ! Nothing like the crusty real thing.... Calamari was the worst I have had, limp crust falling off chewy calamari. Sent it back. I had a very nice meal at this restaurant. Stopped on a whim as I was driving by. They offer a salad bar included with the meal. It had several homemade salads with Spanish/Portuguese flair. I really enjoyed the garbanzo bean salad, kidney bean salad and tomato cucumber basil salads that had a nice vinaigrette, as well as the pasta salad and home Made potato chips in the salad bar. I asked. For something authentic and the waitress suggested an egg and cod in olive oil dish with matchstick potatoes. Terrible after reading all of the reviews we thought why not take a shot and try it there was 4 of us 3 out of 4 of us couldn't get what we wanted sold out after ordering and waiting.So we tried other choices guess what sold out again! The basket of bread that came out had 4 rolls in it 2 of which were stale and obviously recycled from other patrons. The sangria tasted like there was no alcohol in it . Very limited menu, and at 4:30 pm early for Friday dinner you would think a signature dish Bacalau on the menu would still be available, but no it wasn't. Usually this type of restaurant includes a salad or soup with entree, but no. The garlic shrimp appetizer was delicious, but small in portion. Entree was very good, but pricey. Didn't get our appetizers until an hour later. Calamari tasted like KFC chicken tenders. Not sure there was fish in the calamari or just fried oil. Then, entrees... another hour later. Brought out our parties first dish and nearly 15 minutes later a second dish. By 20 minutes all the dishes were there and it was some of the worst food I've ever tasted. Rice was hard and bland. Lays chips are better than their "potatoes". All of the food was cold. The seafood is AWFUL. Mussels were so fishy with bits of sand. Shrimp was bland and hard. I've had portions of paella double the size for the same price ($31). After sending 2 dishes back, and waiting 20 minutes and still not receiving it back, we decided to leave. Terrible, terrible experience. It seems that our waitress was also the manager/assistant cook. Some major changes need to be made to this place, especially since the dishes are expensive. Our waiter John was great, very polite and well mannered, very helpful when I ask questions. Red bean soup was good . Calamari and garlic shrimp was delicious. Calamari with the balsamic side was delicious . The salmon was life aka everything. My bf had the mon fish with clams n shrimp in green sauce according to him it was everythingx2. Being Portuguese, I was excited to try this place out, it has been on my list for some time. Overall the food was pretty good, not as plentiful as other restaurants I have been to, but still good flavor. I would give the food 4 stars. The balsamic piri piri was great. Unfortunately, it terms of service it gets 1 star. Our waitress was very nice, however it took 45 minutes for the Chorico Asado to come out, which half the cooking time is at the tableside. As time went by, I asked the waitress to cancel the order as the entree was sure to be coming out shortly. Which it did. Minimal/no water refills and check ups on our table of two. Probably the main reason I wanted to come here was for the pastel de nata pastry they offer as a dessert (favorite thing of all time). Of course, by the time dinner was over (one hour fourty minutes later) they were out. Not only were they out, but I was teased by the table across from us having eaten three (didn't really tease me). This is the second time that we have been to this restaurant and both times waited too long for our food. Tonight we were there 2 1/2 hours and it took an hour and a half after ordering to get our food. And this was only one course , no appetizers or dessert. Not enough servers, no staff to bus tables and clearly not enough kitchen staff. Manager's response to concern was underwhelming and led me to believe this happens often. Don't let the strip mall or the frontage fool you. this is a classy and upscale place, with a greater focus on the inside and the food. This is more of a Portuguese/Brazilian restaurant and there are certainly Spanish influences - spices and styles. Come hungry. Portions are generous and it includes a salad bar. The salad bar has a traditional garden salad items, but what's more interesting are the other Brazilian prepared salads = mushroom and olives in a marinade, hearts of palm with artichokes, purple cabbage coleslaw. All different and interesting - and I presume these items change daily based upon the available produce. We each had three different entrees. The brazilian steak was the best on the lot, but the paella was good, the pork loin was a little dry. The potatoes are a highlight - either fried or boiled with the tomato and white wine sauce. They also have daily specials and a number of products imported from Portugal and Brazil - drinks, coffee. I ordered the paella, the rice was tasty, but was very soupy. The seafood was overcooked and skimpy. The mussels were tiny and chewy. The shrimp were extremely small, tough and they didn't clean out the digestive track. Same with the tiny lobster tail, clams and scallops: all very overcooked and rubbery. Overall, very sad for the prices they are charging. It seemed like a seafood dish I could get from my local Chinese restaurant for $15. The stand out of the evening was the calamari appetizer. Where do I start? As soon as we sit down my mother was greeted with a racial slur "Oh Spanish." "Hey Mami" from a waitress we have never met in our life. The waitress was over the top always screaming when we didn't get bread in time, calling the owner over with snapping her hands, making a scene at our table. It was a NIGHTMARE. The service was unbearable with too much rushing and the waitress all over the place. She left the table when we were trying to order; practically making a scene of everything so the whole restaurant could hear. I watched my mother shake of embarrassment because she told our waitress after waiting 2 hours the whole order was WRONG. We were okay with waiting but my dad is allergic to mussels and mussels were in his dish. We told her we really didn't want the dish and she insisted on my Dad eating the new dish; it came out in two seconds and my Dad's throat starting closing up. We asked for the manager and we waited 10 minutes and then the owner goes straight to the table across from us to talk to them and we waited even more. Unfortunately, the owner was not very customer service oriented and tried to excuse of what she was doing. Lecturing on how young I am(which I am college educated) and didn't know my age. It was just horrific. The food is over priced.
