I ordered online, was told pizzas would be done in 20 minutes. I came to pick up my pizzas 20 minutes later and had to wait another 15 minutes. The pizzas looked good, but they lacked flavor. Okay, wow. I had the spanakopita and, first of all, WHAT a serving size. Two generous rectangles of cheesy, spinach-y goodness that were gooey and still hot and crunchy. I was a little miffed at the price, before I actually got the order, but HOLY CRAP what a great deal. Along with the two filling rectangles you ALSO get a full sized Greek salad, which was also fantastic. Easily best $12 spent. read more

Greek salad was phenomenal! Pita bread on my gyro was so soggy and the meat was very stiff. Other than that it was so delicious!

So far the best philly I have had. Every time I go I don't ever be disappointed or left hungry. The chicken wings are a bit pricey but they are worth it. Haven't tried the pizza there yet. I have it 4 stars coz sometimes the fries are soggy by the time I get in when I do delivery. Other then that..... Spartas is the way to go for a good Philly! read more

I used to love this phillys, but the delivery and customer service sucks! They've messed up on my Ofer a few times and even forgot my desserts twice! The first time they made up for it by giving me and extra order of the cheese cake they forgot to bring. The second time, I went in again and a rude lady would not compensate for their mistake! Total disappointment, she glad agreed to have me put a bad review on yelp and loose me as a customer so that's exactly what I'm doing! I went out of my way to pick up my item they forgot as it was too late to have them run across town and bring it back to me, I wasn't about to wait until the next time I ordered because they did it twice they'll do it again! Just ordered take out....food was as ordered, but that wasnt the problem. I ordered online and selected pay in person. When the driver showed up he said I had to pay in cash. I didnt have any cash, so he called Sparta Pizza so I could pay over the phone. He explained to Lexi who answered the phone that I needed to pay with my card and she said okay and hung up on him. He called her back (had her on speaker phone) and he again explained I needed to pay with my card and she rudely said why can't she call me on her own phone instead of using yours. So since it was on speaker phone I said I would call her back from my own phone and she hung up again. The driver said he didnt understand and said sorry. So I called from my own phone. Lexi answered. I gave her my card info, which she was again rude on the phone. Once I got off the phone I told the driver Lexi had an attitude problem. The driver again said he did not understand and sorry. Too bad Lexi's customer service is so awful because it really makes me want to never order from them again. I called for delivery from a nearby hotel while swinging through town on a work trip. The clerk on the phone said my order wojld arrive in an hour but it came in less than $30 minutes. I loved the spanikopita and enjoyed the Greek Salad (a typical pizza shop salad covered with pizza toppings). The portions were huge. The sausage in the Greek sausage gyro was dried out but tje veggies were lovely. Lasted for 2.5 meals. Nothing special but better than expected fo delivery in South Anchorage. read more

Pretty good pizza. I am new to Alaska and it took me about 4 different stops to get to Sparta. My family has eaten there 4 or 5 times and haven't had any issues. if you equate Sparta with "strong" then don't expect a pizza with a flavor punch. My man went directly for the garlic salt and of all the pizzas I've shared with him I've never seen him do that. I also thought to add flavor and busted out thew crushed red pepper. They also forgot to include my pinapple on the side but they were very prompt about refunding me for the exclusion. Not a big deal, they were nice about it. The crust was crisp and soft in all the right places. It was a little greasy and the sausage tasted like it was unseasoned sausage meat. I will order from them again though to try out their other items like the gyros and phillys. Maybe those are more flavorful. The pizza itself tasted okay. The pizza had slid at some point and all the cheese and toppings had moved drastically off the top. I ordered a drink as well and my can smelled like smoke along with the pizza crust. My delivery driver smelled of smoke of course and it's almost like he smoked in the car on the way over. Did a delivery order to my hotel room while staying in Anchorage. Delivery was on time as they anticipated. Pizza was about bland but the cheese bread was ice cold and the marinara cup was smashed into the bread, leaving an indent in my bread. If you like cold sides and a sub par pizza this may be the place for you. read more

One of the best greek gyros I've tried! Pizza is pretty good too and they usually offer very nice deals. I used to order from pizza hut or dominos thinking they're probably quicker but this place has it all. Yummy meals ar ready pretty fast. They use very good cheese too. read more

LOVE the gyros here! Pizza is mostly great also. In the past couple of years deliver times have gone from 25 minutes to around 50, but pizzas usually show up hot. A few times my husband and I have ordered, the pizza wasn't so hot, though. The last few times we ordered were hit and miss, at least in my husband's opinion. One time the sauce seemed off to him, another time the sausage tasted funny. Overall a great place to order pizza or gyros from. 11/7/13 Edit: I used to order the gyros here and subsitute a salad for the fries. I guess they aren't doing that any more. I was refused any substitutions. The girl who answered the phone even admitted she was thrown in with no training or knowledge. There wasn't even a manager on shift at 6pm to speak with. Too bad. Guess you could say I'm a regular here. My son and I eat in a lot. The girls are always friendly, the food is always delicious, and it's always ready fast. My favorite are their calzones, phillies, and, of course, their pizzas. You can watch them make everything fresh from scratch from the front counter if you want, so quality is assured. This place was so bad, it spurred us to join Yelp to warn others about it. It is not worth your money. Seriously. We called around 6 o'clock on a Tuesday evening. After an hour and thirty minutes, we called Sparta back to ascertain the whereabouts of our missing pie, and we were quickly and speedily... put on hold. While the gal on the other end located our order, we were serenaded by their lovely hold music - tasteful and pleasant. (Doo be, doo be, doooooo...) She cut back in, and chirped that our pizza had left the store - it would only be 20 more minutes before it got to us! Huzzah. The pizza took another while to get to us and by the time it was delivered - by someone who definitely didn't care about the way our food was treated during transport - it was a soggy, cold mess. You shouldn't have to microwave a pizza you just received. On top of it all, the ingredients were low quality and the flavor didn't make up for the extremely poor customer service. Our cheese bread was smashed and the cheese had congealed to its Styrofoam container. Yum. Please consider spending your hard-earned money at other pizza places in town. There are better options out there. We took a chance on Sparta, and it let us down like the Dream Team in the '92 Olympics. read more

I haven't ordered pizza from these guys yet, but I am sure they are amazing. What I HAVE had are their mouth-watering sandwiches. We've ordered their greek gyros and they have the best tsatsiki ever. The pita is nice and doesn't fall apart easily and the veggies are always so fresh! I have a hard time ordering anything but their gyros but recently tried their Philadelphia philly. Mushrooms, peppers, onions, melty, melty cheese and savory, tender bits of steak nestled into a soft, chewy roll. I am usually leery of ordering a hot sandwich that I won't be able to eat immediately because they tend to arrive soggy. I have never had this problem with Sparta, which is refreshing. If you're looking to order something different, then I would recommend any of their sandwiches or the spanikopita. The delivery is always quick and friendly and girl who answers the phone and takes the orders is always very courteous and patient. Sparta, don't you ever change!!!! read more
