This was my first visit to Spavia and they were able to fit me in last minute with Becky. I had been learning to snowboard so I was very sore from constantly falling over in the snow! The girl I spoke with over the phone sounded genuinely excited to fit me in for a late night 60 minute signature massage which is always so welcoming from the start. When I arrived the concierge got me all set up with slippers, a robe, and a locker which had a little box of chocolates inside for me, an adorable and very much appreciated touch. In the lounge they had a wide selection of tea to choose from and warm neck wraps to help relax a little more prior to your service. Now, I've worked in this kind of environment for a while and I've had my fair share of massages, and can be quite picky with my therapists and get nervous going to someone new. But, believe me when I say Becky was the absolute best therapist I have ever been to! I very rarely get 60 minutes because I find it to short of a time to get fully relaxed but she had me asleep so fast it was crazy! She had such an amazing energy and such a caring and effective touch, every knot I did have coming in melted like butter under her fingers. I had to look at my watch twice afterwards because she made this short time feel like I was there for 2 hours cause she worked and all of the problems I was having! I have been a member of Spavia since just after they opened. I literally go every month. I have never had a negative experience. I love the lockers and always feel super safe using them. You make up a code when you use them so no one but you would have access. I have always found the staff and clientele to be great. I usually book Morgan for massage and Christy for facials but I have never had a bad service from anyone. I LOVE this place. I drive down from NW Reno every month just to get my services. They have worked with me when I needed to reschedule and were super accommodating through the months they were closed for COVID. T local owners are great. I can't imagine not having my membership. Never got my business. Hubby bought me a premium massage from Groupon and it expired before I was able to use it. Groupon policy is that you never lose amount you paid, which, in my case was $49. I went in and the best they would offer was $20 off a premium service ($99). They kept talking in circles making it sound like it was some sort of great deal. Took my Groupon then wanted my CC. So, $79 for something I normally pay $54/mo at a competitor. No thanks, you're SUPPOSED to honor $49 so I'm SOL for the other $29 we already spent. Nope, I walked out. Contacted Groupon to discover they actually REDEEMED the Groupon although they provided no service. SLEEZY! Oh, Groupon gave me a full refund. read more

I had a very enjoyable massage even though things we different with Covid safety protocols in place ie: dress/undress in the room vs their locker area, no hot neck wrap prior to massage, etc but still was quite relaxing in set up and physical massage. I also liked how there were questions asked to complete before arrival that asked for music preferences of these 6 listed, scent selections or no scent, pressure etc. I felt like they really tried to get it right. Having skin issues can be very frustrating and emotional, but during my visit for Spavia's hydraderm treatment, Colleen made me feel comfortable and relaxed. As it was the first facial treatment I have ever had, I cannot compare it to another experience, but I am very sure that it was top-notch. She explained everything as she went along, but it did not at all take away from the peaceful environment of the session. My daughter treated me to a hot stone massage and a facial on my birthday. She did the same last year and it was really great. This year was dismal. The massage table was so hard that it actually hurt to lay on my stomach. The facial was worse. When we met our husbands for dinner my husband wanted to know what the heck had happened to my face. It took three days for my face to feel normal again. I am quite accustomed to facials and have a professional one at least every 4-6 weeks. I really hate to complain as last year was great. However, I will not be going back to Spavia again! Well, One of the owners of Spavia actually reads reviews. Big Kudos to her. She asked me to call her and give them another chance. It seems the day of my visit was basically a "perfect storm." I went back yesterday, 10/23, and it was even more awesome than last year [2016] I had a hot stone with Star and a Vita C with Tammy. Yesterday I have the opportunity to visit Spavia for the first time, compliments of my best friend. I have been to many spas in the Reno/Sparks area and have to say this was the best facial I have ever received. Miriam was the best, she explained everything she was doing even to the point of letting me know if anything was uncomfortable to let her know and she would remedy it immediately. My massage was top notch, the atmosphere was calming, and I left feeling like a brand new person. I am updating this review based on feedback and returned phone call from the owner. A few days after writing this, I get an email saying the owner replied to my review and to call her directly. I called and left a message and within about 15 minutes, I got a call back. The fact that the owner cares enough to respond one's review and a customer's concern warrants a reply to this review and an overall change in opinion. I was allowed to express my many issues with the admin problems I had over the past several years and she explained what went wrong and what Spavia is doing to try to prevent things of that nature from happening in the future. Regarding my issue with the cancellation, I guess there was some miscommunication, but the owner did correct this. I was given names of additional therapists to try, regarding my needs, so hopefully this will cut down on my wait time in booking appointments. As with any business in south Reno, and the growing population, they will probably continue to experience some issues as any growing business would, but I am glad the owner took the initiative to make sure the client was happy in the end. I joined Spavia many months ago. I went for deep tissue massages several times. I really liked the first woman who gave me the massage and rebooked her. The next time I went back she was gone - the second lady was not good. Then I started to go for eyebrow waxing. I really liked to woman who helped me and went back again. I rebooked a third time, and guess what - she was gone. In the meantime, I broke two vertebrae in my back and was not able to go for massages. I called and requested to put my membership on hold. I was told that I had three credits remaining and could use them and put my membership on hold - no further charges. I tried using up two of the credits and was charged for one and in the meantime was charged another monthly charge. They are just plain crooked and very unaccomodating. I booked a massage for my husband several weeks in advance, only to have the spa call 3 hours before his appointment to cancel because they had an employee call in. I understand these things happen, but when I called back to reschedule ASAP, I was told the next earliest appointment was TWO WEEKS away on a day we could not make. The next after that? One month later. I would expect a more responsible business would have better means of handling situations like this. As customers, we're required to pay 50-100% of the treatment if we cancel less than 24 hours in advance, yet all they offer for wasting my time is a small foot or hand massage with my next appointment - and they aren't even considerate or apologetic enough to make up the appointment within a reasonable amount of time. My husband and I have been to this spa several times. While they do have a clean and relaxing atmosphere, making an appointment is impossible. This massage was a gift, and I had originally contemplated buying a membership. I am so glad I didn't. What's the point in a monthly membership when the spa can't accommodate its members? This experience was a disappointment, to say the least. Not only was my husband looking forward to his massage for several weeks, but we planned our whole day around this appointment. Luckily, I was able to call the Peppermill Spa and not only were they able to find me a more immediate appointment, but they offer all day use of their spa with any service. I don't know that I'll return to Spavia; I don't know that I'd even be able to schedule a reasonable appointment, and that's a shame because I recently had a waxing appointment here and thought it would be nice to frequent the spa more often for other treatments. read more

If I had only one word to describe this place it would be AMAZING!! Where to even begin?! For starters I heard about this place from the owner herself who was a customer of mine and handed me her business card and told me to come check the place out and that they were offering introductory prices. I booked my appointment off of their website which I thought was very convenient because you get to see a layout of all of their available times/dates and it lets you know who your masseuse would be for your visit. Upon arriving there was a very friendly lady at the front desk with a smile on her face. (Im big on first impressions in customer service having worked in it my whole life and a smile is a good sign that someone likes their job and that it is a nice establishment) *I really enjoyed that while signing in you get to decide on: what kind of music you listen to, the scent of lotion, and whether or not you would like conversation during your treatment. This is a super nice touch! Once finished with papers I was toured to the ladies locker room which has a nice shower and amenities to use. You get a locker of your own with spa sandals and a robe. (My only con was that the robes are a little scratchy). After changing there is a private waiting area that has a couch, ice water and tea along with warm lavender neck pillows to relax with before/after treatment. Sarah, my masseuse come and greeted me in the waiting area and escorted me to our room. She was very attentive about where my problem areas were and how she was going to address them. All I can say is OMG that was probably the best deep tissue massage I have EVER had. I am a frequent massage goer around town and seriously hands down a wonderful massage!!! I loved how personal the whole experience was, along with the expensive spa-like feel without the spa-like price! I have been to all the big spa's, and massage places here in town and this was a perfect balance of the two. From beginning to end my experience at Spavia was wonderful! I was very happy with my last massage. I had Nic who was amazing! He really knows how the muscle groups work, so I felt like he was able to get some of my knots to release. He also had a great outlook on life in general which was very infectious. He provided some great ideas on being present (mindfulness) and meditating, which also helped me relax and truly unwind during my session. I love the spa via up at the Sierra Summit mall here in Reno! I juggle three part-time jobs and care for my son with autism and my husband who is disabled as a result of a brain tumor. One of the best things I ever did for myself was last year I joined the program To go for massages or facials monthly. from the moment I walk into the entrance I start to feel myself unwind. Wow is all I can say! I purchased a Groupon for a 60 minute Premier facial, and was able to book on a Sunday morning at 11 am with Tammy. The entire experience was amazing, from start to finish! When I arrived, I was greeted by the receptionist, and filled out my pre-appointment paperwork. I indicated any issues I was having with my skin, and was able to select the lotion scent and music style to be played in the room. Talk about customization! After the paperwork, I was taken back to the changing room, where I was given a locker, a robe and sandals. After changing into my robe, I waited in the women's waiting area, which was amazing by itself! Hot tea, water, soothing music, and heated neck wraps are in the room, which would be a nice getaway by itself! Tammy soon grabbed me for my appointment and guided me back to the treatment room. I laid down on the table and Tammy began to examine my face. I told her I had some recent issues with Acne, and she was understanding and asked if I would like some extractions performed. Yes, please! We made great conversation about my recent summer abroad in Italy, and then Tammy set to work. She explained all the products she put on my face, and the benefits of each, and gave me an amazing arm, neck and hand massage, complete with hot stones! After an hour, my time with Tammy was up, but it will definitely not be the last time I am here! They offer monthly packages for either a massage, facial, or body treatment of varying levels and prices, and I am tempted to sign up!
