The cherry on top was when I went to pay, I wanted to use my loyalty cards that I have never used and had been sitting in my drawer for 4 years, I had like 20+ cards. The manager told me it was ONLY 15 dollars off. I was like excuse me? The cards say free manicure. The manager says that because I got Gel-X it was only 15 dollars off, which brought my total to 105+tip. I am absolutely distraught that 4+ years of loyalty and spending 100+ dollars every month and tipping well every time only gets me 15 dollars off?!?!?! I'm sorry but that is an absolute disgrace. I had a seemingly new and clearly unexperienced tech for my manicure. While removing the gel, she drilled so hard and for so long that she completely filed off layers of my nails. Once she finally stopped, I realized my nails were thin and flimsy -- nothing like they had been 15 minutes earlier. When I showed another tech the state of my nails, she immediately winced and took over the job. She ended up having to cut my nails extremely short to minimize the damage, leaving me unhappy the results. Not to mention my nails feeling sensitive and brittle. When I went to the register, I was appalled to see I was still being charged the full rate. After I reminded her that my nails had been messed up, she offered me a $5 coupon on my next visit. I told her I wouldn't be coming back. The manager then tried to offer $5 off. She eventually offered $13 off -- a seemingly arbitrary and utterly inadequate sum. I agreed, because I wanted to leave and be done with the situation. However, I will never go back to Golden House Nail Spa. It's one thing for a business to make a mistake. (In my opinion, this was a pretty bad one -- technicians should be receiving proper training on how to not destroy nails with a drill before they're allowed to work on paying clients.) But still, I understand that mistakes happen. It's how you handle those mistakes that matters. If the salon had apologized, comped my manicure and said they would make sure this doesn't happen again, I would have been happy to let this go. But by completely dismissing the months-long damage the tech did to my nails and pettily quibbling down to the dollar over how much I should pay them for their hack job, this manager made one thing clear: Golden House Nail Spa doesn't care about its clients. After three years and thousands of dollars spent here, I won't ever come back. I hope the $26 the manager insisted on me paying today was worth it.

Gel removal takes 1 whole hour, and I tell the nail tech that I can have my natural nails cut down, which is supposed to be $10 on top of $15 gel removal (per the owner's words to the nail tech in Chinese). When the owner rang me up, what should have been $25 was $35 before tax and tip. The nail shaping is terrible (asked for almond and she left me with uneven edges and some of them pointy). I didn't notice this or the leftover residue on my nails as I had to hurry out the door. Will never return, stay away or you will have to pay for mediocre service.
