My husband and I attended an event that was being held at the Crown Plaza. We left before it was over and decided to grab a bite to eat and a night cap before heading upstairs to our room. Considering it was not that busy, it seem to take Cindy longer than the norm to come over and take our order. When she did come, we told her we were thinking of getting something to eat, and she brought one menu over to us. Typically if there are two people, two menus are handed out. I said nothing and shared the menu with my husband. We then waited some more for her to take our order. When she took our food order, she still did not ask us for our drink order. Again, we said nothing then and waited yet some more. Two more couples came in and sat to the left of us. She took their drink order right away. My husband's complimentary salad and soup came, she served it and still didn't ask us for our drink order. Still we said nothing. Cindy then served drinks to the couples on our left, and proceeded to take their food order right away. At this point, I realized that we were being ignored. Before she left the area, I told her that we were ready to place our drink order, to which she responded "with an attitude like that I think you've already had enough to drink". Needless to say I was instantly put on guard, as I have never been insulted in such a manner. We were not drunk, we didn't come in stumbling nor slurring our speech. We were not loud nor obnoxious as we waited for service, and yet this woman would tell me that I've had too much too drink. I then told her that I didn't know who she thought she was to judge us, patrons of the hotel. Her only response was "I'll get you some water". She served us the water, but at this point we were no longer comfortable. I felt totally discriminated against as I was the only non-white person in the room. If this is how they are allowed to treat their patrons, then we will never go there again despite how good their food or deals are. read more

I am at the Crown Plaza for a seminar for the day. This is the restaurant in the hotel which is obviously the convenient choice during a short 1 hour span. Stood at the hostess station for 10 mins with no one, not one person, stopping to see if I need to be seated or to place a to go order. Finally, someone asks if I'm being helped. I said not yet, I'd like to place a to go order. He said I have to go to the bar to order. Go to the bar, the bartender asks if I need a menu. I already knew I wanted to order the lunch special: soup and sandwich. He tells me I can't have that I have to order from the pub menu. That isn't on the pub menu. So now I've paid 2x as much for lunch than intended and it's now been 40 minutes and I am just getting my $20 chicken salad. NH Restaurant Week was a couple of weeks ago. What a coinkidink, cuz it was also our anniversary so we got to go to (what we thought would be) a halfway decent restaurant on the cheap. We've never been to Speakers Corner, so thought we'd give it a try. The restaurant is in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua. Nice hotel. The reservations were wide open. Wasn't sure if that was good or bad, but since it was Memorial Day Weekend, I figured people spend a 3-day weekend elsewhere. I made reservations nevertheless. Got to the restaurant, and they had a nice seating area outside. Had the guitarist not been so loud and awful and had I not smelled cigarette smoke, perhaps we would have dined al fresco. Not that we needed a reservation, but luckily we didn't because they didn't have ours. My $25 4-course meals consisted of salad; onion soup (someone on Yelp recommended it so I substituted it for the clam chowder); herb crusted rib eye with bacon whipped Yukon potatoes, broccoli au gratin, and cognac demi glace; and a sampler dessert of cherry chocolate mousse, cheesecake lollipop, and fruit tart. My husband's meal included salad; toasted cheese ravioli with caramelized onion and plum tomato chutney; the rib eye; and a piece of peanut butter pie. The first course was the soup and ravioli, and the second was the salad, which came with warm chipotle sage bread and butter. Too many colliding tastes. I thought a salad is usually the first course, but maybe I'm mistaken. It took a REALLY long time to get the first course. Included with the meal was a $6 glass of wine that's usually $9. I ordered a Bloody Mary, which was so-so. My guess is that it was from a mix...but I never asked. I should have, however. So, my fault. My meal had to go back because the meat was tough and well-done instead of medium. Sooo dry. Returning it kind of took the flow out of the meal, but we're used to that. The manager deducted $5 from the bill. The potatoes had a nice presentation (all swirly with a twig sticking out of them) but were bland and the broccoli was overcooked. The star of the meal was the desserts. And the service was average. I subtracted some stars for a mediocre meal and for the fact that we were in a high-trafficked area, which was a cut-thru to a rehearsal dinner. Five stars for the dessert. Everything else 2 stars. Will give 3 stars cuz I'm kind but we will not return. Note: Since this place was not 300-Yelp-worthy, I kept it aside until we went to a more worthy restaurant. Glad I waited. read more

My boyfriend and I went to brunch this morning at Speaker's. We read many reviews beforehand and all were positive; especially about the brunch. Well, it was a real disappointment. It was nothing special, I could have cooked a better breakfast at home with my eyes closed during a natural disaster. Worst of all? It was $20 bucks a plate. Never again. read more

Speakers Corner is one of our favorite restaurants in Nashua, NH. Everything is good here -- located inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel, right off Route 3, exit 8 -- but the Thursday night prime rib buffet is excellent, for vegetarians too. I love the salads, veggies, fresh soups and chili. My husband enjoys the prime rib and other trimmings (mashed and baked potatoes, relishes). We found this place through a restaurant.com certificate, so the value is enormous. Cozy booths, excellent service. There's even free wi-fi service if you need to check your email. read more

Without a doubt the worst breakfast buffet I've ever experienced. Eggs Benedict in a chafing dish at too high temperature =hardboiled egg on hockey puck. Completely inedible. Home fries, French Toast and all the lunch items were soggy and cold. Omlettes were being cooked by a kid who had no clue what he was doing. Took about 20 min and ended up way overcooked. Only things that were edible was the fruit salad, sausage and smoked salmon. The manager even came out at one point, checked the chafing dishes and loudly exclaimed "everything is perfect!" No. It's clear that everything was cooked in large batches in the morning and never replaced with fresh stuff. Bad bad bad. read more

TERRIBLE DO NOT EAT HERE! Sparse offerings - half of the items were empty asked the server - who provided EXCELLENT service btw - she spoke with someone and almost immediately the food was replenidhed. I immediately went up and toasted a bagel and grabbed the "Irish egg Benedict" bacon & tater tots. The Benedict was cold - served on a barely warm untoasted muffin, bacon was flabby cold and drenched in grease - obviously hadnt been drained or kept warm - tater tots were soggy & cold - the best thing was the bagel! I also got a bloody Mary - barely drink 1/4 of it very sour tasting. Brunch is $20 pp you expect better options, temp & quality. Server was great & apologetic. When she brought the bill I asked to speak to the manager. A woman came over and said the manager Nate was busy and she was the supervisor. I told her my issues and she apologized & said they had had no complaints about the food and she would talk to the manager and could comp the bloody Mary (which was sitting there 3/4 full). I said I didn't want to pay for my breakfast and she said "oh I don't think I can do that" I said I would pay for my bagel - she balked again - so u asked for Nate who was too too busy so she went away again and came back & said she would take 10% off the bill & comp the bloody - wow! So my friends and I got out our passports and drove up to the "Live Free and Die" state this weekend. Sunday morning before heading back to civilization, we decided to have Brunch at the Crowne Plaza Hotel . OK, so we were not impressed that the buffet was set up in the entrance hallway to the Speakers Pub, The food debris on the carpets did not add to the ambiance either. The selection of fruit was decent, there was no hot cereal, nor smoked fish of any kind (one of our diners was a lox and bagel snob and was disappointed). The hot items were at least hot, pretty good selection, but nothing to write home about. The omelet bar was OK, the omelets were well made, but again, standing in a hallway while people were going in and out of the entrance/exit doors was not fun. Service was attentive, the coffee reasonable. The mimosa's definitely needed some zip though....all and all, not really worth $17.95 per person.... We heard afterward, that the Stonehenge Inn in Tyngsborough had a brunch to die for.. maybe next time.... read more

Dinner last night. Place was pretty much empty. Service was ok. Apps of coconut shrimp and chicken tenders were pretty good. Flat bread with home made hummus and red pepper was really good. My Prime rib was good but I have had much better. Wife had seafood stuffed tenderloin, she ordered it medium and it was well done. It didn't even taste really good. Very disappointed. Would try again but no real high hopes. read more

This weekend I had the misfortune of dealing with One of the most mismanaged restaurants I've ever dealt with. Beginning with a receptionist who was left to deal with a problem he did not know or have the authority to deal with to the cowardly manager who never showed her face that created the problem in the first place and left him to deal with. I made reservations for a party of 6 for 6:30 pm Saturday 4/22. When we arrived at the restaurant at 6:15 we were told by the receptionist that there was nothing written in the book and no reservation was ever made. He said to us "we may be able to seat you in about 30-35 minutes". He told us there was a private party they had to deal with and that another party or 8-10 people had walked in before us. All were seated in the left lower half of the restaurant and had not even began to eat. A member of our party asked the receptionist if he felt that the manager should at least buy us a round of drinks seeing how the restaurant fouled up our reservation and wanted us to wait what would have been much longer than a half an hour. He said I'll have to ask the manager. He then was no where to be seen for close to 15 minutes. Meanwhile I noticed a round booth that could have accommodated us and when he returned said he could not sit us there because there wasn't enough of a staff on hand. And oh yes, the manager refused to buy us a round for having to wait. Now seeing that when I made the reservation I was asked for my name and telephone number, why would she ask me this if she didn't write it down. Why did the manager not face us and try to remedy the situation personally instead of acting in such a cowardly manner. Also consider the fact that a party of 10 is going to bring in more revenue than a part of 6. It's very easy to rip out a page from a book and say there was nothing in the book. Why didn't the manager want to face us, and convey her message with the receptionist. Well these are the repercussions of her actions. 1. As a resident in a fairly large complex in Nashua whose many residents frequent this restaurant and bar will find out about this. I would imagine that most of them will think twice about it next time they want to go out for dinners or have a drink. I know of 14 people already who have had issues in the most recent past who when told about this were not surprised who now will not ever go back to this restaurant considering their experience and now hearing about this will never go back. 2. As the word spreads I'm sure that it will come to the attention of a food journalist who will no doubt have a field day criticizing this place. And 3. A letter will be written describing in much more detail the events of last Saturday. And sent to the Hotel manager, and the executive offices of Crowne plaza. Obviously this restaurant is mismanaged considering some of the other revues written here. I only give this one star because I had to in order to post this. read more

Absolutely terrible and extremely slow service! The only thing worse than the slow service was the food. The burger was bad, the bun was hard as a rock. We heard the few guests around us complaining also. The people next to us got 3 of their meals for free. Keep in mind there were only 3 tables with guests the entire time we were there. I would never consider this place. They must survive on visitors who don't know any better, like us! Stay away! read more

Went to eat here last night for a 60th birthday get together for my sister. We got our drink orders and ordered appetizers which came at a reasonable timeframe. The entrees were all very good and hot. All said the food was excellent. My complaint is that the waitress rarely came around for 20-30 min after we were done eating. We asked for boxes for food and didn't see her for another 20 min. Then she never brought the boxes! All in all the service was terrible and the food was excellent. If u can deal with that it is worth eating here. read more

This restaurant was a great option for many years. It had a solid menu and had appeal - was a viable option for dining out even if not staying at the hotel. Unfortunately now I'd think twice about going there even staying at the hotel. I was in the area and stopped by for the first time in a few years. The hotel has changed hands and the food was not good. My friend and I went in for drinks and nachos. I joked to my friend nachos are hard to mess up. We ended up sending them back because the cheese was not melted and it was just chips with cheese (not melted) with some salsa thrown on top. The server was nice and apologized and recommended the wings. They were what seemed like from a bag of frozen wings but were better than the nachos. Hopefully this place gets a revamp. If you're staying at the hotel you're better off at one of the other options right there unless they turn things around. read more

My husband and I went to brunch on Sunday as we had been there many times before a few years ago. Things have changed and not favorably I might add ! First and foremost the price is higher , $20 per person, and the selections are fewer. I would not have minded all that , but, most of the food was not good. I must admit the mimosa was fine...and that's where things went down hill from there. I started with fruit & salad. The fruit was tasteless, the salad was your usual lettuce, tomato and cukes, etc, nothing surprising there. bacon was hard and tasted "funny". The sausage was that frozen pre-cooked type....ugggh. scrambled eggs were all "clumpy" as if made 6 hours before and kept warm. They had one pasta entree, striped "squash' filled with the most awful sauce(and I use the word sauce loosely). The seafood selection was talipia, I love talapia...this was horrible, and tasted really fishy, only had one bite. The eggs benedict were hard as a rock and the hollandaise sauce was cold & watery...ewww ! My husband orderedan omelet, thinking that would be fresh and at least eatible....wrong again! It came to him burnt on the inside, but the cheese had not melted on the inside (how they pulled that off is still a mystery) !! The "prime rib" had no flavor at all,,, almost like it had been boiled...weird! There was french toast but looked very unappealing. last but not least....there was only a small assortment of desserts and half of those were cheesecakes. i would say ..STAY AWAY from their Sunday Brunch. read more

Our first time and last time here! The service was the worst! There were five tables with customers and two ended up tables walking out. We waited an hour for dinner, had to ask 2 different people for roll 3 times, because the kids were so hungry. We had to ask several times for drinks, my son's meal was missing an item, I had to get myself to search for ketchup, soup and dinner were barely warm. I have been there twice for the prime rib buffet. You can get it either medium rare or medium rare. I thought it was good. If you are not a beef person do not get the buffet. Other main dishes looked poor. They no longer include dessert, but you can get it at a very reasonable price. Side dishes include salads, vegetables and potatoes. They were nothing special, but OK. I hidden gem! My wife and I had a fabulous meal there this past Saturday. I had the paiella that was probably one of the best I've had even from a Spanish/Portuguese restaurant. My wife had a chicken & artichoke dish that was also great! The salads were even exceptional. The blue cheese was not out of a bottle. It was so creamy & fresh. The waitress was very good and the prices were fair. I wish I had asked to see the chef to praise him/her and the staff for a great meal. Sadly the only negative was the coffee. Needed a lot more flavor. We're looking forward to going back soon. read more

I recently organized an 'end of the year board dinner' here. We were sat in the back room of the restaurant called "the Library" so we conduct our meeting during dinner. The room was beautiful and spacious. We were only a party of 11, but the room surely would have fit 3 times as many if needed, but was still cozy for our purposes. The Hostess greeted us pleasantly and asked if we needed anything as we sat and sent our server right away. Our server, Penny was extremely professional and pleasant. She was also very accommodating with some guests special requests and substitutions. I had a glass of Malbec, which was a very tasty and a generous pour. Penny immediately brought some warm, fresh bread. It looked delicious, but was unexpectedly onion bread with onion butter and I couldn't get the strong onion flavor out of my mouth for quite a while (the only small drawback of our dinner) For dinner I had the seafood mac & cheese. I was hesitant to think it may be too rich or filling. It was not, the blend of cheeses was perfect and the seafood was generous and cooked perfectly. We did not have desert, but the after dinner coffee was fresh and delicious. The other guests in my party also raved about their meals. I will definitely consider organizing my next business meeting here or coming with friends for a night out! read more

I used to work off Amherst st and frequented the bar on many occasions. This is a great atmosphere in a hotel bar, many locals, lots of business travelers - the bar itself reminds me of Joe's' at the mall. My favorite appetizer is a Mediterranean platter with enough for two. Recently my bf and I went for dinner and sat at the bar. He ordered a prime rib that was out of this world. The presentation itself was 4 star....a huge well seasoned slab of perfectly cooked meat with a puff on top, steak fries and fresh steamed broccoli. I had beer battered fish and chips. Came with a huge portion of haddock, onion rings and some fries, as well as a fantastic dinner salad. Another bar patron had ordered the same and he also raved about it...he had his with the traditional vinegar, but my tartar sauce was so good. BF had a beer and I had a nice sized glass of Merlot. Prices are average for what we had and the meal was excellent. We've been there for brunch in the past too and that is also enjoyable. Tip, bring your sweater the ceiling fans make it chilly in the dining area. read more
