Great little dive bar in GR to grab a cocktail and watch a soccer game! I hear they have many nights of the week with live music but never been. I definitely want to try it out but my 2 times here have been great! The service has been incredible! Definitely ask the bartenders what to order, they've never steered me wrong. Do NOT order beer here, you MUST order a cocktail, they are one of the best cocktail bars in GR! I have had he RedRum which is, you guessed it, a rum drink! It's soaked in pineapples and you would think it's a mixed drink but apparently it's straight rum and tastes delicious! Highly recommend! My girlfriend got the "Oh Gee" and I have to say it was one of the more refreshing drinks I've had in a while. Very minty and fresh!! SpeakEZ has great food, great drinks and an overall great atmosphere. Their food is always impressive and delicious, even when something hasn't been quite right the staff has gone over and beyond to make sure they fixed it and exceeded expectations - kudos to you all for great customer service! One of my favorite drinks is their suffering bastard. It is their version of an alternative to a blood mary. I hear their blood mary's are top notch too but I personally am more of the suffering bastard fan. It is light and refreshing without tasting like alcohol, so be careful after a couple of them! Their breakfast entrees are creative and flavorful as well as their dinner offerings. I will say that this place is a destination to watch European Football so expect it to be crowded in here when a game is playing - usually this is earlier in mornings on a weekend. Sundays nights they have a wonderful jazz set up and awesome to listen to, drink to and relax too! They also have great craft beer on tap too! Can't go wrong here - I am a fan! read more

I've been here a dozen times and it's always a great time! Whether I come just for drinks or come for food also, I always have great service And leave completely satisfied. The greeter had such a sour look on her face I really wanted to turn around. She said nothing, grabbed the menus and waked with them to what I guess was our table. It was a change over in meals and was explained by our serveR I won't complain we were warned our server went from bad to pretty good, so I guess she was busy from the change over. I have only been here once but I would give it more stars if I could. The food was AMAZING and their brunch menu for Saturday and Sunday's is so good. The food items are a little bit on the pricier side but you will not be disappointed! Some of the best breakfast I've had in a while. They have $7 bloodys and $5 mimosas and the mimosas are a generous portion. I think you definitely get a good bang for your buck here. The bloody is a little bit on the boring side if you don't get it extra spicy. We had a great and friendly server. However, do not plan on being in and out. We got a table right away but we waited a while for drinks and a very long time for food- like 45 minutes or longer. They were busy and we were enjoying our drinks so we didn't mind but something to note if you are planning a quick brunch. We came here for dinner on a Sunday. The place wasn't too busy, but there were plenty of TVs on soccer. I thought this was weird, given the name "SpeakEZ Lounge".... but hey.. I don't mind soccer, just thought it was kind of odd. Our waitress was pretty laid back and it took about ten minutes for her to bring us water. She had said she didn't see us. Sorry, but there were only about four other tables and the bar with people so this was odd to me. Anyway, I ordered a glass of Kava and we were with another couple and we both ordered risotto cakes and my husband added on calamari. The risotto cakes with the aioli sauce were good... I would totally get them again.. delicious. The calamari... well, it was in a chili sauce with veggies and walnuts.... but the calamari was a little chewy... won't get those again. For our main meal, I got the Cuban sandwich, which was delicious and on the spicy side. I liked it! My side, I got the brussels sprouts which were.. kinda flavorless. I needed salt and pepper to eat it, because they were bland. Plus, there are no salt or pepper shakers on the table, so another wait for no reason. My husband had the crispy mister and he said it was alright... but nothing super special. Our friends thought really highly of the macaroni and cheese and mushroom risotta. Both were very large portions and did look large. I am not quire sure about the menu. It seems pretty big but a lot of the items contain alcohol.... I don't mind that, but we were with someone who doesn't drink and a lot of the meals had some sort of alcohol, so that was kind of odd. I like this place, but maybe I haven't ordered the right things. I'll try it again in the future. read more

SpeakEZ Lounge happens to be the official venue for the Grand Rapids chapter of British Premier League soccer team, The Arsenal. So, I went early on a Sunday morning to watch a match with fellow fans, and had a great time! The menu was strictly brunch-centric, and each of the items had a soccer related name. (I'm sorry, I forgot to get a pic) I chose their version of eggs benedict, and it was AMAZING. I started with a bloody mary, which was fabulous, then switched over to their selection of craft beers because day drinking. :) The bartender was great, the servers were friendly and attentive, and whomever made my food has serious skills. Waitstaff tends to be a little overwhelmed with tables but that could be a lot of things; maybe too many tables for our waitress when we were there for brunch. Variety of very creative dishes that are all made fresh and delivered quickly. Yummy alcoholic drinks; however, I think this is the worst coffee in the city though so grab a bloody Mary and forego the Rowster's "endless cup" put the $3 toward your alcoholic tendencies and save the coffee stop for after. We wanted a place with good food. Not simply, "oh it's Friday throw our money somewhere and call it a date," but actual food you would stop talking and enjoy conversationover. We also wanted a nice place to talk. Naturally I asked my third wheel best friend should we go to SpeakEZ and he was thinking the same thing; and not just because we watch our English Premier League soccer here. Naturally our entrees arrived as we were finishing our appetizer, which helps. The food didn't disappoint either. Without question the worst Reuben I've ever suffered - semi-stale oversized bread with no crisp on the outside, weirdly dried out small portion of pastrami, almost no dressing and if there was kraut on this thing, I could not taste it. The sandwich was embarrassing. Brussels sprouts were good last time. This time they sucked. Service was so-so. Maybe SpeakEZ is better as a bar? I'm shocked it has a 4-star rating. I hate giving this sort of rating to small business (I'm assuming). More than that, I hate writing crap sentences like the one before this. C'mon man, you can do better. We visited SpeakEZ last night and were wholly impressed. We sat ourselves and were greeted immediately. Our server, Savannah, brought us waters without asking and we probably waited less than 10 minutes for our food. We enjoyed the beet caprese salad and the poppyseed cobb-avocado salad. This lounge didn't impress me in any regard. Service was sparse on a Friday night, and even on nights they close at 2 am, they stop entree orders at 10 pm. The drink and food menu looked fantastic, but what I had ordered fell short of my expectations. I ordered the Suffering Bastard, but what I has tasted like cucumber detox water, with some egg foam on top. It was refreshing at first but I couldn't finish the flat tasting, uninteresting cocktail. I ordered the "Jackfruit Banh Mi Sliders" because they sounded interesting, but I missed the part that the bread was going to be grilled bao buns. "Banh mi" literally means bread, as in French baguette bread, so it's silly to use bao buns. The buns weren't even good, they were dried out because they're meant to be steamed, not grilled. The only thing I liked from the dish was the pickled veggies, as the jackfruit had way too much peanut butter(?!) that made it very sweet and mushy. I ran out of pickled veggies to balance out the sweetness and mushiness of the jackfruit. Most everyone raves about the brunch here, so I may give SpeakEZ another chance for that. read more
