I called three different window contractors to get quotes for replacing my garden window. Elizabeth made an appointment for Junior to come out and provide us with a quote. I was given a timeframe early in the morning in which he would show up which was between 8 AM and 9 AM. I was never called until about a little after 10 AM that he was running late because he had a flat tire. As you can imagine an early appointment is a huge inconvenience, but I was ready the entire time waiting. I called her office several times after 9 AM but kept on getting a recording. Eventually Junior showed up, and did the measurements and was done fairly quickly. He was very knowledgeable, polite, and personable. He was also apologetic about being late. The flat tire reason, I reserve judgment. Junior did follow up a few days later to see if I receive my quote from the office and I had not. To this day I still have not received a quote. I'm pretty disappointed that I contacted them and still have not been called or emailed with a follow up. If they can get that part of the job done, I can't imagine how the project would go. Ultimately I decided to incorporate this part of the window replacement into my kitchen and bathroom remodel. But in comparison to the other companies that came out and provided me with quotes and information, they completely missed the mark. read more

So far, so good. I am only in the estimating stage, but I wanted to share my experience so far. I will update after I get windows installed. I reached out to 7 different window vendors, some just through a yelp search and a few reccos from friends. Universal Windows has great various options of manufactures that range on the price scale. Pricing is very competitive, a little lower than a few other vendors with similar choices. I spoke with the owner Anthony several times already (he spent way longer on the phone with me than I'm sure any business would like haha) and he gave facts and was not pushy at all. It's great that you can get 1 window done or 10 and there isn't a min price or a fee per trip of installation. I live on a very busy street and he did not try to oversell me with laminate windows. Here's a little info if you are new to the world of windows. Basically most companies have one price for white or some kind of tan and then you pay more for colors for the exterior (10%-20% more) but interior is still the defalt white, and even more money to paint the inside a color. So expect that. And then standard is dual pane, 1/8th thick for each pane. So, you'll want even thicker glass if you live somewhere noisy. Window businesses usually call the thicker glass "the sound package." Also note that if the window is surrounded by stucco, it is installed differently than if it surrounded by wood. You will see more of the fancy frame on the stucco and more of just an outline edge on wood. I hope this helps! read more

If I can give 10 stars, I would! Our bay window in our front room was growing mold in between the double pain window. I met with 4 window companies (including Universal windows direct), to replace/fix the problem. The other 3 companies suggested that we have to replace the whole Bay widow in order to fix the problem. But not Greg! He was the only one that was honest. He said his company will be able to fix the one window that needed to be replace, instead of removing the whole bay window. After waiting several months for the material to come in, the crew came and removed the old composite siding under our bay window and installed new vinyl siding.
