I arrived at Spectacle for a routine exam to determine if I needed a prescription update. I was initially helped by Gustavo, who was affable and easy to talk to, but always professional. He ran the preliminary tests on my eyes and was able to discuss the function of each machine I was being tested on in-depth. Afterward I met with Dr. Schmitt, who completed the rest of my eye exam. Not only was he also quite knowledgeable and friendly, but in my brief conversations with him before and after the tests, it became apparent that he also deeply cares about eye healthcare. I felt incredibly comfortable entrusting my vision to a professional who is both an expert and a good human being. On my way out, Gustavo asked if I wanted any new frames with the lenses I ordered. Initially, I was wary of some of the prices, but Gustavo directed me to a rack of frames that were both affordable and stylish. The team at Spectacle PDX is phenomenal across the board. I constantly recommend them to both friends and co-workers, as they are definitely the best. Dr. Schmitt uses all of the most current technology to get your rx dialed in, and does an amazing job explaining things, offering options, and helping you with the prescription side of things. Then, Hector and the rest of the team who help you find frames to fit are absolutely phenomenal at what they do. I have purchased two pairs of spectacles from them, both of which were slight variations on the frames I would have chosen on my own (I was in same neighborhood, they suggested a bolder style/color in both cases), and I just constantly get compliments on my frames and I absolutely love them. Shopping for glasses is so hard, as you have to project yourself into wearing them all day every day, which is a challenge, but the team is there to help you make the choice. What an awesome experience coming to spectacle! I've been wearing glasses since I was 16 and I've gone to many different places for glasses and Spectacle has been by far the best place I've been to. The staff is really great; they're friendly, knowledgeable, easy to talk to and very understanding. Elora made the process of buying my frames so easy I almost forgot I even bought them! It was that quick and painless. You can tell that they really care about the quality of their work. All of the equipment is very clean and up to date, the displays are kept very nice and neat as well, and its surrounded by windows that lets in a lot of natural light. Dr. Ngo was really nice and she seemed very experienced and comfortable with what she does. She answered all my questions and even gave me information about my eyes I didn't know before. I have gone to a handful of different optometrists and I would probably say Spectacle Pdx is by far one of the best ones. I found out about this place through Elora who does some pretty amazing stuff for the company. I love the location and atmosphere there. Everyone is very friendly and inviting as well! My eye exam was also very thorough and they were able to break down each process for me so I was able to understand what exactly what was going on in my eyes and I thought that was great. Their frame selection is amazing! They have so many unique styles to choose from that go beyond the generic brands I'm use to. Spectacle is the best ever. Dr. Schmitt and his staff are so concise and are great at helping you understand any questions you may have. I had been going to another eye specialist and never saw any results in over a year. As soon as I left Spectacle I felt a huge relief - I finally feel like I understand my eyes and all of my questions were answered by doctor Schmitt with both photos and videos. I never knew that I would need glasses, but I am so excited to receive them now that I know why I need them. I went to Spectacle on a busy Saturday afternoon to get an eye exam. At the front, Christy greeted me and gave me a form to fill out. It only took a few minutes, and then the tech, Gustavo, took me to a separate room to look at my eyes. He used several machines and was able to knowledgeably answer my questions about what he was looking for. Then Dr. Ngo went over the results with me and helped fit me for contact lenses and for glasses. I have a challenging prescription and I was impressed that she was able to explain so clearly each result. Then Gustavo helped me pick out frames while figuring out what my insurance would cover. I first met Dr. Anderson when he was practicing in Washington. He is patient, thorough and very good at what he does. Since his family relocated to Portland I have seen numerous doctors and offices with no luck finding someone who is able to provide the level of service and care that Dr. Anderson does. I have a complicated eye condition and I learned my lesson. It is worth taking a day off of work to come get good service. His office staff is kind, professional, and very helpful with trying to collect records from the multiple previous offices I have seen and doing their best to work with my out of state insurance. Me and the husband are seeing the doctors here for our annual eye check. And while I thought Dr Schmitt was a very detailed, polite, knowledgeable doctor, I met Dr Ngo who is equally very competent. I love it when I go to a clinic and feel that you are really cared for. And this is one office I can say that does just that. You can get back to them if you have questions. I always have to wait for at least 15 minutes before the doctor discusses the results with me which makes me a little impatient. BUT I figured that they really take time to discuss the eye results to each patient, you wont feel rushed. I recommended this office to lots of my colleagues and friends. read more

What a beautiful team! Having just moved to Portland and running low on contact lenses I was desperate for an Optomistrist. The amazing Emily fitted me in straight away and I was warmly welcomed by her as was my 11 month old baby. They put me at total ease with both Emily and Dr Anderson entertaining and holding my baby, all the while still throughly examining me and giving me the best care and advise. WOW. I mean, this was my first eye exam, but I can't imagine anywhere being better than this!! The staff is knowledgeable, comfortable, and SO FUN. I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop in on a whim to see if I could get my only pair of glasses repaired. Jess who was absolutely wonderful and incredibly pleasant greeted me at the door and told that she'd be happy to take a look at my glasses. A few minutes later she reappeared with what quite honestly looked like a brand new pair of glasses. Ultimately settled on an excellent pair of Salt frames that fit perfectly and for which I get frequent complements. Store has an excellent array of unique and stylish frames to choose from. I always hate the pre-test part of my eye clinic experience but at Spectacle I almost enjoyed being pre-tested! I haven't bought new glasses in about five years because I hate getting my eyes dilated. Spectacle has current high tech machines that allowed them to not only assess my prescription but also to check for a variety of eye health issues all without dilation and the traumatic eye puff glaucoma test. They also have an array of amazing frames, and Jane helped me pick out the perfect pair. Everyone was helpful without applying any pressure.
