We chose the duck as our main entree.

Incredible dining experience. The food was innovative and delicious and the staff were attentive and on top of everything! We opted to have a wine pairing with each course and it was done impeccably. I am glad to have chosen this place while visiting Amsterdam. It was definitely a highlight of the trip. Would recommend to anyone in the area!

My husband and I were celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary and what better way then to treat ourselves to some fine dining. I'm still processing the entire experience and wavered between enjoying it and it being a let down. Mediocre doesn't describe it at all, so a 4 it is. The space...I think there's potential. We were seated along the wall by the window, but the windows were behind us, instead of beautiful tulips, we saw a blank gray wall. I didn't understand why the tables weren't in front of the window. It made it feel like we were in a basement, which we kinda were... The food, I loved that the chef came to the table and greeted us. He explained how his dishes shows us concept and flavor profiles. There were some incredible bites of food, the conch with caviar, cockles, and foie gras were the standouts. They also had a surprise of chocolates that were reminiscent of the flavors in some of the dishes. Thinking back, the food delivered and then some. Service was really, really, outstanding, but intense. I felt like I was being watched like a hawk, which was suppose to be in a good way, I think. They were always at the ready to assist. I felt bad every time I needed to step away to the restroom, because I'd try to sneak back but they were at the ready to pull my chair and lay my napkin. This was over a 3 hour meal, which we asked them to pick up the pace, it still was so slow, and so there were many, many bathroom breaks. It's tough to write this as I can't blame them for the service experience in how I felt about it. The food was still excellent though. Would I recommend it, sure, as long as you have 4 hours to dine.

This place is an absolute must. Food was absolutely delicious from start to finish and had plenty of artistry and creativity to keep one wowed throughout the meal. Wine pairing was worth it as well, although I would highly recommend getting a drink at the start as the wine does not come start for quite a while as you get through the ab and early smaller bites. Service was great. Waitstaff knew their stuff, but was not overly stuffy. Perfect ambiance for our group of 6 friends. Classy, but comfortable.

The tasting menu is superb! The quality of service and detail put into the preparation and presentation of every individual dish is top notch. Staff makes every effort to make your dining experience good and memorable. Each dish has an explanation of its inception and what specific wine pairs the best with it. Quite informative! The dining room is small yet cozy, giving staff ample opportunity to cater to each individual table with equal service. The overall experience and feel of the dinner service is a must and I would definitely recommend this unique experience. Worth every Euro :)

If you like innovative, creative and fun food to eat- don't pass this restaurant up. This restaurant sits inside of the sumptuous Waldorf Astoria hotel. The restaurant is located downstairs adjacent to the spa. The dining room was very fancy, what I would imagine a high class jewelry store would look like minus the cases. Even though the restaurant is a fine dining destination, with two Michelin stars and of course, the white table cloths... I never thought it was pretentious. All the staff I had interacted with was very hospitable and welcoming. When they took away my dishes, I noticed a fun little touch to the service. The staff only where's one black glove for the hand they take away your food with. I've never seen something like that before and I think it's an homage to the restaurant's unorthodox approach that somehow works. The food is brilliant! Modernist food is my favorite. The cooks here know how to play with flavor and texture at a master level. Everything tasted so fresh and was super fun to eat. Everything was straightforward and simple to eat albeit, sometimes pushing the envelope towards weird. My favorite part was absolutely the presentation. Everything I ate was so beautiful to look at. I will try to visit this restaurant every time I'm in Amsterdam now. It was so wonderful and I'm so honored I was able to try it.

Eggs over hard, exactly as ordered. And a yummy hash brown - all hash browns should be served this way.

Quite incredible, both the food and the service. We only had breakfast and afternoon coffee, but were very impressed!

Fabulous experience here at this 2 star Michelin restaurant- The food is a unforgettable culinary experience, every course was flawless. The decor is timeless and romantic. Noise level is medium-high. Service is superior and very attentive.

The coolest fish dish I've ever had.

And despite ALL of our meals in Amsterdam being excellent, this one may have been the best. We wanted to try Dutch food, not totally knowing what to expect and were blown away by the combination of flavors and textures we consumed. We started with the pickled herring which was served with onions and pickles- fresh yet bold! I'm still thinking about those little fishies weeks later. Then we each had the sampler-ish plates (I forget what it was called). Hers was the vegetarian version and mine was with sausage. There were 3 kinds of essentially mashed potatoes with veggies mixed in: 1 with spinach I think, 1 with carrots, and 1 with sauerkraut. Mine came with a delightfully rich gravy and my moms came with some kind of lighter yellow sauce (I think mustard based). We tried these same dishes at other Dutch restaurants during our stay, but nothing beat The Pantry. The service in this quaint and cozy spot was also excellent!

Portions are substantial and a very good value in a neighborhood where tourist-markups are the norm. They have a/c, but in order to feel it you'll need to sit closer to the back of the restaurant/near the kitchen, as there is only one wall unit back there, and they leave the front of the restaurant open to the elements (even in 98+ degree heat).

I found it browsing Yelp, and the name alone told me this was going to be a meat-forward kind of night. Fair warning if you're bringing anyone squeamish about restaurant names: The wife wasn't thrilled about it going in, though the food won her over fast. Getting there was its own small adventure. The place sits down a narrow alley, and our Uber couldn't get us all the way to it, which turned into a bit of a hike. That happened to us more than once in Amsterdam, using the exact address didn't always mean the driver could actually reach the door, so budget a few extra minutes if you're headed here. I normally default to steak, but the menu had a burger topped with pulled pork that promised more meat than a straight cut, and I couldn't pass it up. Delicious. Genuinely one of the best burgers I've had. But the wife's flat iron steak might have stolen the night. Flat iron is one of the most underrated cuts out there, and this kitchen proved it. She was still talking about that steak days after we got home, enough that I ended up buying flat irons from Costco just to chase it. The atmosphere is cool and a little edgy, dim lighting, a lot of character, and yes, some genuinely creepy decor scattered around, including an old doll that stares at you like it's judging your order. It ran loud, but not so loud we couldn't hold a conversation across the table. Service was good, just on European time rather than American time. Getting the check took a while, which threw us off at first, but that's the norm across the EU, not a knock on this place specifically. Pricey, but worth every bit of it. We'd go back without hesitation next time we're in Amsterdam.

It was very warm in the place, so keep that in mind if you're traveling in Amsterdam during a heat dome! We had a couple servers who worked with us nd both were kind and friendly. They didn't quite communicate with each other about our need to split the check a specific way, but it worked out in the end. We enjoyed some cocktails and beer (ranging from 9.50 Euro to 12 Euro), as well as the Pork Belly and Pickles to start off (21.50 Euro for 300 grams). Tasty way to start the meal. The three of us shared our mains and enjoyed what we had. The Favorite Ribs (24.50 Euro) were flavorful; the L'Incroyable 300gr (Ribeye; 34.50 Euro) was good, but our least favorite of what we ordered; the Le Cannibale Royale 170gr (burger) was super tasty. We also enjoyed some frites (4.90 Euro) and some delicious Mac n Cheese (6.50 Euros). Good time and good food!

We sat on the patio. Our server brought us complementary bread with butter while we read through the menu. I'm told my meal was authentic Dutch food, but it just seemed like a strange combination. The name slipped my mind, but it was a Power mashed potatoes with endive, but the meatball on top with brown gravy and then be beside that with some type of smoked sausage with a pile of mustard. I've always felt that whatever food you put on a plate should taste good together sausage with the mustard with the meat and the gravy and the mashed potatoes just seem disjointed to me. With that sad, I ate every drop of it and enjoyed it so maybe I learned something from this meal. ‍ My son took the alternative approach and ordered a meal with Indonesian flavors; chicken with peanut sauce was the main entrée and it came with french fries. He definitely enjoyed his meal as well. I'm glad we gave VS a try. It turned out to be a good meal of Dutch food and a touristy area with food from all over the world. I guess I'm old-fashioned because I just wanted wanted a taste of the local cuisine. Cheers!
