Bad start to the experience at this particular location. Bought my tires from a Midas in Modesto - multiple sets for years because service was always 5 star. Unfortunately I moved. I came in for a free rotation and balance - manager used swear words while he told me he couldn't make any promises that it wouldn't take 4 hours, for 15 minute service. Then he tried to tell me that he wanted to charge me 10 per wheel for each balance, which should be under the warranty because I had Midas receipts for the 4 tires I purchased in January. I have an appointment tomorrow to get the work done. I also called Midas Modesto to ask company policy. They said they would call and get it all straightened out. I came to speedee after going down the road to oil changers for an oil change/transmission fluid, that night my car started leaking transmission I went the next day back to oil changers and the the young kid at oil changers said they couldn't help me that they didn't know why it was leaking and I needed to come back tomorrow when the more experienced manager was there, even though I called and gave them a heads up what was happening and that I was coming . They should have just said on the phone to come when the manager was there. Any how Andrew at speedee was beyond words can explain he was fantastic I waited less than 10 minutes he told me what the car needed and fixed it. He was very pleasant and friendly. Mediocre service and I wouldn't come back for a simple oil change. This place is a bit over priced for the quality and their service. I didn't feel as if they were competitively priced. I was able to get the same oil change done for about 20 bucks cheaper at JiffyLube. I should note that I use the more expensive (synthetic) type of oil 0w-40 which goes for $7.50 retail. But it was $98.00 for a simple oil change. So you might be better off with the standard $39.00 oil change. But I didn't find this out until after 30 minutes of waiting and they drained the oil from my car! My car was effectively held hostage!! After all of that I might possibly come back if someone could tell me what SpeeDee does that is better than JiffyLube. They didn't loose my business for good, but they are close. So I brought my 2017 Nissan Truck which I just purchased two months ago for its first oil change. When I arrived I was greeted by a nice Filipino man... I'm sorry I don't remember his name. He did my oil change and 17 point inspection and suggested some issues that I should look at transmission fluid & rear differential which I told him it was OK because it was a new truck and had very low miles (37K miles) maybe next time. During my stay in the waiting room I witness the same man get into argument with the customer about switching out spark plugs and coil for his sons car. The customer thought he (employee) was trying to pull a fast one they were both speaking Tagalog and English so I could make out a little of what they were speaking. The customer said something to this man and he got very upset stormed back into the shop but not right before throwing his clipboard through the sliding glass window onto the table yelling at the customer to take his car to Jiffy Lube. The customer was so upset that he tried to talk to the employee but the guy was too furious to talk. The front receptionist lady tried to calm the customer down... After smoothly convincing the customer to do the service. The employee refused to do the service and told him to take his car to Jiffy Lube. Another employee took over and tried to help the customer. I feel very bad for this older gentlemen. After seeing this altercation I think SpeeDee oil change and the employee need to give this gentleman an apology for acting the way he did. Didn't realize it was so expensive until I went to pay. Plus it took over an hour and half to do the Smog. Won't be bringing my other 2 cars here. Lesson learned. Took my car in for an oil change, i forgot the two men's names that helped me out but they were both awesome! Took my car in immediately, told me it would be done in about 30 mins & was finished at around the 30 min mark. They explained to me everything they checked, what kind of oil was used & also let me know i had a small oil leak & that they can assist in fixing it when i am ready. Also let me know my tires were getting bald & i would be needing to replace them soon. It was great that they informed me of everything needed & never pushed me to get extra services done. I had previously called on the phone to get a quote on the oil change before bringing it in & the receptionist told me $140 to my surprise my total ended up being $107, which is much cheaper then ive paid in the past at other places. I took my Honda Civic here to get a smog, didn't pass and decided to let them do the diagnostic. BIG MISTAKE. $109 later I find its a bad o2 sensor. Funny because on the smog Vehicle Inspection Report the o2 PASSED! They were supposed to check and inspect it. Also, they have very horrible spelling on simple things, and are not very thorough with their paperwork. They try and up-sell and make it seem like you are getting a great deal, which you are definitely NOT! Took them 3 DAYS to do a diagnostic when I was PROMISED it would only take them a few hours. They always make me restart a new one. Today I came in to get the brakes package on both axels came out over fourteen hundred. They right so sloppy on the papers so you can read what you're getting charged for and when you ask for explanations they stutter like a mother cracker. When I told them never mind after they gave me an estimate he walked away so rude and slammed the door. They took forever to return my vehicle that I just cleaned and then left crumbs on the way out. Been here several times. Oil change for $39.99 not a bad deal. Usually pretty fast. They do the whole up-sale thing..like ALL the oil change places. These guys actually point out stuff you should be aware of though. I am a car guy and I appreciated some of the stuff they pointed out (even though I would not have them fix it). Oil changes are almost always a miserable experience. But it's got to be done, so we just get stuck doing it. I go to the SpeeDee on Monterey. These guys are close to my home - and they offer the exact same stuff as everyone else. Two things stand out: 1) usually no wait, I can just drive right in most of the time. And 2) buy 5, get 1 free. I don't know of anyone else that offers that! But at almost $40 a pop, that freebee is a help! Plus, when it came time for me to pay. Got an oil change earlier (15 minutes before closing). I felt bad for going right before they close, but even on days off- I'm a busy girl! Had a $7 off coupon. I was planning on putting air in my tires after and getting a car wash after the oil change since it was a frickin mess. Luckily, the guys cleaned my windows, filled up all my tires with air and vacuumed the car (all while I waited for my oil change). Can you say sa-weet? That saved me some time. Forget the car wash, the windows are spotless, the inside tidy and I didn't have to put air in my tires! Thanks guys! I was helped by Sam who gave me a heads up on things I need to do since my car just hit 124k miles. He wasn't pushy one bit and provided me with a small list. The cashier was also nice. They also give you a small keychain with a punch card, so every time you come- they give you a stamp. After a few, you get a free oil change. I use to go here for oil changes since it's conveniently located near my house. The last time I came here, they suggested that I do a transmission flush since my car is 3 years old. I gave them the go ahead and everything was done. After 5,000 miles, I did another oil change, but this time at a Speedee in Davis. The guy told me that i will also need a transmission flush. I explained to him that I already got it done at the Speedee where I am from a few months back and asked if they have connected vehicle history. The guy said they don't and showed me how black the transmission oil was. I decided to do the transmission oil change myself and boy was the oil gross. Taking off the pan and pumping out all the oil via the pump resulted in a bunch of sludge. If I didn't know any better, I would think that the oil was the same oil that has been sitting in the car since I bought it. Another note is, I checked the receipt to see what kind of oil they used for the flush and it was definitely not even the right oil recommended by Mazda. On another note, the manager showed me that all my tires were cupped and said I'd need new suspension to fix it. I went and got a second opinion, and indeed my suspension were bad but they also said that replacing the suspension wouldn't fix my tires. Speedee is definitely just a place for people who do little to no research about cars before taking it in. They are definitely in it to fool customers and take your money. There is no way that you need to pay someone 25$ for a tire rotation or 15$ for a filter change. They even said my cabin air filter needed to be changed. Which is quite hilarious because I changed it a week before and it is not something that you can easily check without taking out the dash board. There are probably good mechanics that work at SpeeDee but the management definitely is out to get you. read more

First time here... Got charged almost $150 for an oil change for my basic Honda Civic. Yeah, it takes synthetic oil, but since when it goes up to $80? Also got charged extra because the car uses more than what they expect... I've taken my car to a couple different shop, at most I was charged $50 for the service.
