My boyfriend takes his car here to get his oil changed and hasn't had any issues. Me on the other hand, will never take another step anywhere near a SpeeDee store ever again. I went in for an oil change on my 6 year old honda civic. I asked for the basic of basic as I rarely drive my car and had it serviced less than a year ago. He gave me the option of $89.99 and when I asked why it cost so much, he would not provide a reason. He told me that they had another exxon oil that was $99.99 and asked if I wanted that one. I said no, and he responded, I didn't think so. I asked if I could make a call and he said sure. He left my paperwork on the stand next to my car and informed me that "once you make a decision, either sign the paperwork for the $89.99 or leave". Obviously, I chose the latter and got in my car and left. I am so completely appalled at the customer service and disrespect I received while trying to get a simple oil change. This place is one of the reasons that all car service businesses have a terrible reputation. They try to take advantage of those of us who may not have a great understanding of cars and they should be ashamed of themselves. read more

They ran a diagnostic on my two front wheels to determine source of vibration. They said the front left axle boot is cracked and needed replacement and will waive the diagnostic cost. Had it replaced but the vibration still occurred again but less frequently. Took it back to Speedee and they said now its the front right acle boot and both tires control arms needed replacement. I asked why the initial diagnostic didnt find those problems. Speedee said the werent there before. I didnt believe the rep. Either they were incompetent to run the diagnostic or they're covering up their mistakes. Either way Never coming back to Speedee for major work. SPEEDEE IS ONLY GOOD FOR OIL CHANGE. And this location is dead on the weekends while other locations are packed. Thanks for the reply Speedee but I cannot trust nor can I afford my family car repairs on Speedee. As a female, I'm always a little skeptical with anyone servicing my vehicle, because I expect to be upsold on services I don't need. I first took my car here in August 2018 for an oil change. The man who worked on my car explained what work was completed, and there was also some maintenance that he recommended. What I didn't expect, is he added "but none of this needs to be done today, it's just coming up soon". I have never felt pressured to pay for services that I do not actually need, so I tend to also stop here for any other small maintenance issues (replacing headlights, batteries, brake lights) that are very quick, and I have only been charged for the parts, and not a labor fee. Andrew also buffed out some large scrapes on the body of my vehicle, for free. Sometimes there is a very long wait, and they might say 45 minutes when it is really an hour and a half, but they do have wi-fi so it's a good place to get some work finished while you are waiting. read more

I don't understand all the bad reviews. I called and made an appointment, it was easy and fast. When I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly and personable manager "Roy". He took his time and went threw ever last detail with me and assured me that my car was in good hands. Later in the day Roy called to let me know my car was ready and that there was some minor issues I asked if they could be fixed and when I came to get my car Roy had my car in tip top shape. Came in for a basic oil change (after reading their shitty reviews) and saw their prices which were about the same as some/most shops and asked for the high mileage package for my Mazda. Half way through the tech tells me I have a special filter (which I knew was true) so I agreed to the extra $10 fee. After everything is said and done of their services they decided to add an extra .5 quarts of oil and never bothered to mention or ask if I wanted that service just to penny pinch pointless money, said they vacuumed my car( which they didn't even move anything and still saw crumbs from my kids on the floor in the back). read more

BUYER BEWARE... I went here 3 days ago, presented a 27.99 coupon to the attendant. Immediately tried to tell me everything wrong with my car, I needed this threat and this.told him I only wanted an oil change and he whispered something to his cashier and walked out. Andrew is the person to go to he treats you like family actually everyone at the shop does especially the lady at the front desk. First time there and was impressed! The customer service was great, the staff was very attentive and polite. I needed to get my brakes but didn't have an appointment and they squeezed me in - they were really busy at the time. They even offered to give me a ride back to my house while the work was being done. They kept me informed on what needed to be done and the amount of time it would take. Kudos to the entire staff! I took my car into beshoff motorcars dealership and they told me that my oil change was done wrong and that there was a leak. I took it back to speedee, where i had gotten my oil change from and PJ (the manager) was giving me a hard time about fixing it since it was done back in July. He was very rude and not understanding about my situation. In my defense, I am a girl and i dont notice or know about these things. I just happened to get a maintenance check at the dealership and was informed by them. Being a girly-girl, i didn't know how to respond so I asked the dealership to call in and explain to PJ the problem. PJ then agreed to fix it. i came in a week later, and Eloisa (the office manager) remembered me and helped me right away. she was so sweet, i really liked her. I just came back from speedee, and now i hope everything is perfectly fine! read more

I can't believe how horrible this place is ! To start off my 2015 New Year. I went to this place to do an oil change and apparently they have an annual free check s*** going on . So they called me and said that I need a new valve gasket because it is leaking ! Leaking ?!? Wtf !?! I didn't see any oil dripping out of my valve gasket . And then he said "look at the out side there is a stain here, you also need a change of spark plug "!so of course I start tripping out and though oh maybe he's right . Then he added " we also checked at the bottom and it also needs a replacement " so I ask how much to repair all those things and he said "$616 including your power steering liquid" (that I know I can do myself) so of course I know how expensive it is to change the gasket and also the spark plug since my car is v6. But I said you know what I'm not going to do that with you guys because i know that they might be screwing you . So I called my dad and told him about all this things that needed replacing and he was shock. So I was stressing out the money and ask for second opinion and others gave me "420$" for everything . But then my father can't believe that my car needed a valve gasket replacement so he checked it himself . Cleaned all the oil around the gasket and drives it for a week to far places . He checked my engine again and it was clean and shiny ! No oil coming out of the gasket ! THIS PLACE WILL SCREW YOU LIKE ANY OTHER SPEEDY OUT THERE BECAUSE I OBVIOUSLY HAVENT LEARN MY LESSON FOR GOING BACK HERE. I finally found a place that I can trust . Very disappointed with their honesty! Initially went there for oil change and the clerk stated I'll get $10 discount. I then asked for a free Break inspection. When the mechanic called, we agreed on a service and he verbally agreed to provide 10% discount (break service ~$460). When I picked up the car, I only got 10% up to $300 ($30) and no discount for the Oil change! I am less annoyed by the $15-$20 difference but the lack of honesty! So I take my car in for an oil change - of course the guy comes back and says my car needs this and that and takes me outside to show me all the filters and plugs and this and that that need to be changed. I say no I just want the oil change, okay, fine. The next day I pull my car out of the garage and there is a puddle of oil on the floor. I take it back and they say"Oh, we'll replace the gasket". The next day more oil, take it back, now I guess the guy is getting irritated. Talks to the mechanic, they raise it up, ( little did they know I left the "waiting room" and was observing them). The black-bearded turban-headed mechanic gets this wrench and starts pulling and yanking real hard over and over on what I think is the oil filter. Well I think he's just tightening it up real good. My car still leaks oil so about 2 weeks later I take it to T's Auto Repair on Monterey, he raises it up and tells me to take a look at this... it was a big bolt that had been loosened up and it actually broke off because my car is a little bit lowered. He said someone had to have loosened it up or worked on the clutch - I had never had anyone under my car in the 3 years that I had it. I really like this location as the staff there are very personable, friendly and honest. They build good rapport with their customers. Even though we moved to Stockton, we still prefer to come to this location (says a lot since its about an hour and a half drive). Our favorite mechanic is Andrew; he is what keeps us coming back. He is very helpful and funny. We usually get oil changes but Andrew lets us know what we need to get done to keep my car maintaned so it will last a long time. He recently helped me with a tune-up and strut replacements and offered to take a photo of me with the new after market struts. Lol. He is willing to show what he is doing to the car unlike some mechanics I have experienced. I highly recommend this place and ask for Andrew. read more

These guys tried to charge my wife over $800 for an unplanned service. They doubled the cost of parts, added 2 hours in labor costs. Everyone we called for the exact same service was under $400. I went to these guys twice since they are close to my work. The first time was fine. The second time they told me they couldn't do an oil change because my oil pan was shot and I needed $400 in work which they wanted me to do immediately. I declined, then left and kept tabs on my oil level for a few weeks. It was fine. Then I went to my trusted mechanic for a second opinion and he said yep, everything is fine, and he did a regular oil change. Glad I didn't fork over $400. BEWARE! I had my brake pads and Roters replaced about 2 years ago for 1000.00$ just on the back. I drive my work van a lot so I put a lot of wear and tear on it. I drive it everyday so I needed it back right away. I thought the price was very high but had to get it done. If you want to get up charged and cheated for a premium oil filter and extra oil then this is the place for you. They charged me $27 extra for oil (0.5 qt) and the oil filter for my 2015 Mini Cooper. In fact, they charged me for two oil filters (spin on and canister) but only installed the canister and offered the $2 for the standard filter. What a ripoff! read more

Came here for an oil change, and the mechanic is telling me that the auto manufacturers don't know what they are saying and that I should get an oil change every 3,000 miles and not listen to their standard schedules (this is a standard line sold by most oil change places - it helps their business). That was an indication already. Then they charge me 60% more for air filters - and that's compared to the pricing at the dealerships (who charge a premium usually)! I'm not a car guy so I didn't know when I went in to get my smog you can't have your engine light on. Well they obviously see my engine light on when they're checking my miles before I hand over my keys. They take an hour and 20min to check my car and tell me it has failed because my engine light is on. DONT GO HERE THEYLL TAKE YOUR MONEY WITH NO SERVICE. read more

I will go here to take my car everytime. I went in withought an appointment hoping to get one. Jay hopped in my car to find out the problem. I was driven home and told i would get a call in an hour. Called me back with my problem and didnt charge me the $110 for the diagnostics. Jay said he would let me barrow a car ifit needed to stay over night. Great customer service. I got a good oil change. I only wish I had seen the yelp deal before hand for the $29 oil change. Mine ended up costing $39. I printed off a $7 coupon from their website though. All in all not bad. They washed the windshield too and replaced my engine filter. It took less than 40 minutes so I was able to get it changed in a lunch hour. I've been coming to SpeeDee for many years to get my 2001 Saturn's oil changes and tires checked, and I've had a couple of diagnostics done for various reasons and brakes done, but I have never had a bad experience with any of the Staff. When they say it will take 1/2 hour or so, its always done on time. One person in particular stands out, the Manger Andrew Talamantes is a great guy. He's very pleasant, funny and will help you right away. I needed an estimate on my Saturn recently that was in an accident, he charged 45.00 and took care of my car right away and showed me the damage to my car very thoroughly, which I appreciated very much because I wanted to be knowledgeable about the damage done. Got a flat tire yesterday and brought it in to have it fixed. They had to replace it with a new, as the tire was worn on the inside. I accepted their recommendation. A few hours later, picked up my car and gave it a spin on 101. It was shaking so badly that I had to pull over. Turned out that they mounted the new tire inside out!!!!! Went back to them and they admitted to their mistake. They took the tire off and re-mounted it, this time correctly. However, to add insult to the injury, in the process they badly scratched my alloy wheel!!!! The manager or owner, a short, old Indian guy, came to me very aggressively yelling that those were old marks, although I told him that I saw his tech scratching the wheel with the tool when he took off the tire. Net net, Don't ever go there! They are super expensive, do poor quality work and are very rude and customer unfriendly! If still not convinced, just read their postings on the wall of their lobby. See how you feel when you are told to "relax while being cashed out!" At least they pick your pocket in a humorous way. read more

I came here to have a tire with a nail fixed . From the moment I walked in I felt comfortable. At a lot of places I would feel ignored or just not totally taken care of . The workers all have smiles on & you can tell they all get along, have a good time, & get their work done . I can see why they were so busy when I came in. Andrew was working when I came in & he kindly asked me to take a look at my car with him and pointed out certain problems to report back to the last people who worked on my car . It's nice to come somewhere where it seems the workers care about your car . Before leaving, the receptionist gives you a written recommendation on what to work on next, without trying to convince you that you need it done right then and there. I've had so many great experiences in the past couple of years at this place! I moved to the South Bay from out of state and found this Midas in 2017. Andrew, the shop manager, is great. Super friendly and explains what is going on, why services are needed but most importantly doesn't sell you services you don't need! I recently moved to Monterey CA and went to get an oil. The cost was ridiculously high and didn't come with an inspection beyond tire pressure. Now I make the 75 mile drive because I know I can trust Andrew and his crew. I had taken my car into Speedee Oil Change, I have specifically left my iPod and badge a certain way before leaving my car. Upon entering my car my iPod cable and badge were dismembered as if someone was looking and snooping through my car. After the oil service was done and complete I gotten in my car and in a small hidden compartment I had 3 specific items. When I checked my compartment 1 item was missing. I had gone back and confronted the owners they replayed the video. It shows one of their employees in my car for over a minute just "trying to move my car" It doesn't take that long to start and drive a car. Nothing was resolved. No compensation or anything. Never found my item. Very Shady place! I will never go back there again! read more
