Brought my car in for an oil change April 2022, 2 weeks later my engine broke down and my car is not drivable. I towed it back in to Speedee Oil, they concluded my car had no oil, and will not own up to the repair. My car has been sitting in my driveway since April 2022, I have since taken Speedee Oil to small claims court with the Superior Court. In addition, i have been coming to this place since 2016, only for oil changes. In 2019 after a oil change, the EXACT same thing happened, my engine broke down and my car was not drivable. I towed it back to Speedee Oil, and they owned up to the no oil investigation and swapped the engine, at no cost to me. Due to them owning up to the issue, I kept going back to them. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. This is now twice, and this time, they are shooing me away like a dog. The Indian owners are nothing close to respectful, they do not know how to simply speak to people, let alone a customer. (As you can confirm from other Yelp reviews) All my paper work is in order and I have already filed with the Better Business Bureau on this place. Speedee Oil did not respond to the BBB complaint within the time frame given to them, that also was not the 1st complaint filed on them with the BBB. I hope this is enough to discourage people from going to this place, yet another mechanic shop giving a bad name for the rest. An honest mechanic can not be found at this place. I use to go here for oil changes since it's conveniently located near my house. The last time I came here, they suggested that I do a transmission flush since my car is 3 years old. I gave them the go ahead and everything was done. After 5,000 miles, I did another oil change, but this time at a Speedee in Davis. The guy told me that i will also need a transmission flush. I explained to him that I already got it done at the Speedee where I am from a few months back and asked if they have connected vehicle history. The guy said they don't and showed me how black the transmission oil was. I decided to do the transmission oil change myself and boy was the oil gross. Taking off the pan and pumping out all the oil via the pump resulted in a bunch of sludge. If I didn't know any better, I would think that the oil was the same oil that has been sitting in the car since I bought it. Another note is, I checked the receipt to see what kind of oil they used for the flush and it was definitely not even the right oil recommended by Mazda. On another note, the manager showed me that all my tires were cupped and said I'd need new suspension to fix it. I went and got a second opinion, and indeed my suspension were bad but they also said that replacing the suspension wouldn't fix my tires. Speedee is definitely just a place for people who do little to no research about cars before taking it in. They are definitely in it to fool customers and take your money. There is no way that you need to pay someone 25$ for a tire rotation or 15$ for a filter change. They even said my cabin air filter needed to be changed. Which is quite hilarious because I changed it a week before and it is not something that you can easily check without taking out the dash board. There are probably good mechanics that work at SpeeDee but the management definitely is out to get you. read more

I have been here three times and will continue to go. The service has been fast and friendly. They always give me a coupon discount, even one time when I forgot to bring it. While they are doing the work, I go shopping in the plaza for whatever I need and they call me on the cell when it's finished. Having stores next door is a lot better than sitting around in a repair shop waiting room. They do try to upsell more services, but a polite no thanks is all that is required if you don't want them. I did get them to change the air filter for 20 bucks when they showed me it covered in dirt. They comp me a little bottle of water with their name on it. Nice touch. read more

I went to speedee's to get an oil leak "fixed". Andrew assured me that he would be able to find it and stop it. They preformed a wash and dye to pin point the leak and my car continued to leak oil after paying them $200 for what they claimed was the oil pressure sensor. Later my dad looked at it and fixed the leak for $40 and a few hours. It was just a gasket that needed to be replaced. Bottom line they will take advantage of you!!! Andrew is amazing. We had a bad oil change and were headed out of town. Of course when we were headed out, we noticed oil leaking from the car. We called speedy lube and Andrew got us In right away. ****CUSTOMER BEWARE**** I have been coming to this location for years for my oil changes. I recently bought a car and have had two oil changes here since. They recommend getting the transmission changed every 30,000 miles and I was just about to hit 60,000 miles. Since this is a newer car I wanted to keep up on the maintenance and take good care of it. I was quoted $180 and didn't think that was too unreasonable considering I have had all my oil changes here and they've always done a good job. In February I decided to bring my car in for a transmission fluid exchange. They informed me my car took a special type of fluid and I said I was ok with that and went through with the service. Ever since I had the work done my car has been driving really rough- delayed acceleration, jolting when shifting into higher gears and down shifting and shaking while idling. I had a feeling something had to be wrong so I looked over the invoice. At first I looked at the type of fluid they put in and it appeared to be correct. So I kept wondering what was going on and why my car was acting up. After staring at the invoice nonstop, I noticed something in the details of work done. The details of work said drain and refill up to 5 pints, and the actual quantity of fluid added was 4 pints. That's when it occurred to me what the problem was. For starters, the fluid was supposed to be flushed and refilled- not just drained. Secondly, the specifications for my car requires almost 9 QUARTS!!!!!!! That means that less than a quarter of the amount of fluid that the car needs was added, and the car has been driven like that for about 3k miles. In no way does any of this make sense. How could they know the type of fluid that is specified for the car, but now how much they need to add??? I have never witnessed negligence to this degree. I have since scheduled an appointment for a diagnostic at Ford($250) which will tell me what is actually wrong. Assuming there is damage to the vehicle I'm going to be spending even more to get the problem fixed. If there is damage to my transmission because of their faulty work I'm going to be paying for repairs I should have never needed on a car with 60k miles. I would still recommend this location for their oil change service but definitely nothing else. Also, if you do have work done here make sure to look over your invoice very carefully and cross reference it with your vehicle's maintenance guide to ensure they are performing services correctly. Will update with diagnostic/repair information. 05/15/22 Ford was unable to find the issue with the initial diagnostic($238+tax). They're moving to the next step-- a complete tear down of the transmission ($1,100, with $240/hr labor rate). The tear down won't even be complete until the end of this week(5/20/22). So not only do I have to pay a bunch of extra money for the repairs, I also don't have a car for almost 2 weeks. Maybe more depending on what they learn from the tear down. read more

I headed to SpeeDee Oil Change for assistance on running a full diagnostic on my car. They've changed my oil many, many times and have done a few services for me in the past, all positive experiences. This time was no different! The staff is awesome, and shout out to my favorite worker there, Andrew! Everyone there is honest, but most importantly not pushy. Came in on Sunday to get my car's oil change done. I've been here before, but years ago. Now I only have 4 stars because the price is a little high but there's always discount coupons available on their site. The technicians also let me know what else I specifically need to get done, and with my forgetful mind I know that's helpful. They're also giving discount cards now to bring back customers, smart. Broke part off my truck. If they pay for the replacement I will change the rating but a inconvenience for me 12/28 when I pulled up to my house after work I notice an oil spot/leak in the drive way of the house I rent. Being concerned the oil filter wasn't put on correctly, I check the oil and notice it's pretty low. (Oil was changed yesterday (12/27/18) I look under the car and notice a oily mess under the skid plate, which is now on my drive way. I can only hope the oil on my drive way is from the skid plate and not a bigger issue now:/ I would like to be contacted ASAP for a resolution. read more

I took my truck in to get oil change radiator fluid brakes fluid power steering fluid then I find out that my heater is not working checked out my radiator find out they never put any freeze in my radiator almost blew my engine will never go back to them!!!!. Wanted to charge me $80 for a smog. Talked them down to $60. Took an hour with no other smogs before me. This is after they said it would take 20 minutes. They knew the code and fix and actually referred me to the dealer and sent me on my way, no charge. I have been coming for here for oil changes for about a decade. The prices are pretty high (and extra work is always outrageously high), but they always come back with suggestions for the proper maintenance of my car. I always decline their recommended "transmission fluid flushes" and "power steering flushes" and then just go to another shop (not Spee Dee) that is much cheaper to do the recommended repairs. I definitely recommend them for thorough oil changes. Any other work, just take to another shop with more competitive prices. read more

The mechanic at the time (didn't get his name) screamed WTF when I accidentally barely pulled up to park my car where they told me to. Another one of those AVOID THIS PLACE reviews... I was eating Subway next door the other day and I decided to see if they match competitor coupons for oil changes (as most places do). The guy says they sure do, and I let him know that I have a $16.95 coupon, but it's at home, so I'd be back later. I came back a few days later with my coupon (it's actually $17.95, not $16.95). A different guy came to my window and said they won't honor my coupon because it's too low, and their asking price is $29.99. I said, "Really? Someone here said you honor competitor coupons. Do you pick and choose which prices you honor?" and he said, "Yup. And we won't honor that one." Lame! As a girl, there is nothing I dread more than having to do car-related errands, knowing they will be snickering behind my back as they up-sell me on TurboBoost whatchamacallit extras when all I wanted was an oil change (the line was really low on that metal stick thingie I tell ya!). However, I agreed to the pure-synthetic oil change for my Subaru for my underground street races and frequent trips to the snow, so now I end up paying around $85 for an oil change each time but at least I can go longer between changes. The less I need to visit the better! The guy at least explained the difference to me and the performance benefits in colder weather, which was nice. All the staff from the mechanics to the desk service are extremely nice and friendly, and they do a good job of going over the recommended services but I never have a problem declining. Once I even said 'no' to the air filter change and they did it anyway, so the owner/manager (I think) took the charge off my bill. It is sometimes busy but only once I had to turn around and go back since I noticed a line of cars waiting, and there's a WalMart within walking distance if you want to kill time and not sit in the waiting room. read more

UMMMMMM hold up, i have never paid more than 60 and that was because I got an air filter and a fluid changed. Never did he ask me what model or year my car was but simply said "You have a Volkswagen, that what you need!" I am not a dumb woman driver, i pull out allllllll over my receipts and nowhere have I ever gotten synthetic oil. I pull out the manual and nowhere does it say, SYNTHETIC oil!! I come here for an oil change during my lunch break when I can, it's relatively close and easy to get it. Location in a shoping center there is stuff to do while you get your car serviced. The service is nothing special, they take longer than I'd like but then again are attentive enough and get the job done. The waiting room is ok, definately out of date but has magazines and what not to pass the time. Creepy guys always seem to go to this one though - perhaps it the South San Jose location . . but I've actually never been bothered. The cashier is usually sweet and quick - so it helps a bit. It does have the shopping center so I can browse while I wait, but in general I always feel like it takes to long when it's 11am and no one is there! And the dollar store, walgreens and beauty store sometimes just don't do it for me. And it isn't cheap or anything, standard $37ish for a standard oil change. Oh well . . The reviews you read on here may alter your decision to bring your car here , but based on my experience here I've had nothing but pleasant trips to be honest ,my first couple trips were solely out of convince because it happens to be one of the closer shops to my house and I needed an oil change , and although the price might seem steep they do quality work . Andrew is the man in charge and trust me this guy knows what he's doing . Me and my cousin decided to do a DIY home project on my car by changing the intake system and had no idea why my car was putting out a code until I caved in and decided it was time for someone who knew what they were doing to take a look . Shouldn't have chosen them just out of convenience. Granted our daily commuter is old (1998) but it's kept up and runs just fine, no major issues aside from aesthetics...ENTER SPEEDY OIL CHANGE. Brought in for a oil change and after long wait (not so speedy) ....was told that they couldn't do an oil change because of something broken and that it would be maybe $700 or more, to fix. (What's broken? Why? Couldn't really get the exact explination) So nothing was done. We didn't want to pay if we didn't know the reason for "soemthing" being broken. As I said it was fine before... As the days go buy following the visit oil leaked like crazy out of car, puddling in our garage floor. Husband decided to take a look, and found that they stripped the screw enough where you cant even tighten so the oil just pours out and cracked the pan?! Worst, worst, worst mechanic EVER!!! I came in just to get an oil change, with my 2 year old son. I asked them to please call me when they were done. I had my stroller and walked across the parking lot to Taco bell. I sat by the window and watched as other cars arrived after me and left and my car sat in the garage, with no one working on it. I waited 40 minutes until I finally walked back over to their office and told the lady at the front desk that no one called me and no one had touched my car in the last 45 minutes. The mechanic came and said he was done for awhile, but he was going to call me. He had a list of work that needed to be done which equalled $799. I came in for the 17 point check. They did nothing. I got back into my car the next day and the COOLANT light came on. On the receipt they gave me with work that needed to be done, it said nothing about coolant. I called and spoke to the manager and he said he REFUSED to give me my money back. He said we did the oil change. I contacted my credit card company and disputed the charges. Bad start to the experience at this particular location. Bought my tires from a Midas in Modesto - multiple sets for years because service was always 5 star. Unfortunately I moved. I came in for a free rotation and balance - manager used swear words while he told me he couldn't make any promises that it wouldn't take 4 hours, for 15 minute service. Then he tried to tell me that he wanted to charge me 10 per wheel for each balance, which should be under the warranty because I had Midas receipts for the 4 tires I purchased in January. I have an appointment tomorrow to get the work done. I also called Midas Modesto to ask company policy. They said they would call and get it all straightened out. We'll see what happens and I'll update again after. Update! Pleased with the service I received today. The owner came and visited me in the office. He apologized profusely and made the situation right. 3 starts because it took an hour and a half for a simple rotate and balance, and they didn't put a mat down when they got in and out of my CHAMPAGNE carpet- so I had to pull out my mat and have it cleaned (poorly) by them.... read more

I went to SpeeDee to get an oil change! The guy who did my oil change broke the wire in my car, so now I can't pop the hood open to my car because they broke it! The owner tried to lie and said it was already broken and said it was my fault. It didn't come broken and it left broken! I asked them since they broke it to fix it for me and they told me no! I came to speedee after going down the road to oil changers for an oil change/transmission fluid, that night my car started leaking transmission I went the next day back to oil changers and the the young kid at oil changers said they couldn't help me that they didn't know why it was leaking and I needed to come back tomorrow when the more experienced manager was there, even though I called and gave them a heads up what was happening and that I was coming . They should have just said on the phone to come when the manager was there. Any how Andrew at speedee was beyond words can explain he was fantastic I waited less than 10 minutes he told me what the car needed and fixed it. He was very pleasant and friendly.
