This place is great. Their vegetarian burrito is the best around. As far as burrito size, the "regular" is pretty huge and the "large" is, well, significantly bigger! Good prices, too! A solid burrito for a little over four dollars is key when you're looking for a burrito shop for lunch or dinner. They don't re-run credit cards so if you want to tip, say so in advance of paying, or bring cash. Also, they're closed on Sundays which is a real shame. read more

For the price, 5 stars. I ate the shredded chicken nachos and everything was superb. Came with guac on the nachos. Probably one of the best nachos I've ever eaten. The price was fantastic (less than $5) and the shredded chicken was high quality. I tried the papusas based on the other review and was not impressed, however. Too bland. I love their papusas! They are fresh and a little crispy and lighter than the ones at El Salvador. I usually get two at El Salvador, so I ordered two at Speedy's. I would have been satisfied with one, because they're big. Plus, you can acutually taste the filling in them. It's a cheap meal because they're only $1.50 a piece. :) I got two spinach and cheese. I want to try the bean and cheese next time. Speedy's has a good selection of salsa at the salsa bar, and the guac. I ordered was very tasty. read more

Yummy! I had to convince my husband to come with me here because of the name (there was a Speedy Burrito in Chico that was American style), but a couple of reviews mentioning traditional caught my eye. They make all of their tortilla's--corn & flour. I had the chili relleno burrito two days in a row--delicious. My husband had the carnitas plate. It wasn't made with the usual skirt steak, but he loved it & had it again. We tried their Pupusas, which were very good. The restaurant is fast casual style, very clean, nice people, fast service. It was fairly busy when we got there, but service was still pretty quick. Had a chicken taquitos combination plate and a carnitas combination with rice and beans and side of guacamole. Salsas from the salsa bar was also good. Fairly priced and tasty. Will definitely return. read more

Love this place. I eat lunch there almost 1-2 a week. Very friendly staff and amazing food. I tell my wife everytime i go. I finally got a chance to take her a couple days ago. Now she's hooked as well. My favorite plate is the carne asada. Very good portions for the money. I used to eat at super burrito alot. But ever since i tried speedy i haven't went back to super burrito. The burritos are amazing there, the salsas are consistently good. Which is a hard thing to accomplish. Keep up the good work guys. I'm trying to figure out how this place gets such high ratings and raves about the food... The staff is friendly but the food was sub-par. I think the biggest issue is the cheese they use - it's clearly a processed cheese like velveeta. The nachos were covered in it... Even Taco Bell uses real cheese. read more

I have been coming to Speedy for about three years now. They have never, ever disappointed! I have had their burritos, enchiladas, papusas, chimichangas, tacos, and taquitos, and I highly recommend them all. The owners are wonderful people, and this truly is a family run restaurant. They have worked very hard in the last two years to improve the facility by adding new tables and decor. I eat here almost weekly with my family, and we all enjoy Speedy very much! Actually, it's probably closer to 4.5 stars. I started coming here when I used to live in Reno in '04--'05. Although I come very infrequently and now live back in Cali, I've never had a bad burrito here. I actually like the burritos here better than any back in the S.F. Bay Area. That's saying something, considering how many more choices there are back down in Cali. This place is proof positive that a restaurant doesn't have to be MAD fancy if they serve great food. Don't be scared away by the location in a colorful and vibrant Reno barrio. Pretty good prices and quality salsa bar with the spiced veggies. Ordered a large steak burrito.. Have to say I would give this 4 stars but i had to reheat the burrito back at work wich is less then a 4 minute drive... beans were too cold for my liking... It took 10 minutes to get my burrito with no one in line. Not sure what the hold up was. The burrito was good I had the California burrito. The thing is I don't like warm tomatoes and it had too much of it. The California had carne asada, avocado, sour cream, plenty of cheese, french fries, and the nasty warm tomatoes. The meat had great flavors not dried out or under cooked. Seemed like taco truck taste which is okay with me. What was not Ok, the time it took to make the burrito and the warm tomatoes. read more

Ok, let me get one thing off my chest right away. It's official... Later this year I'm moving to Reno, Nevada to start a cover band called Run 2 Reno. We're gonna do all sorts of songs, mostly jazz standards and 90's top 40... Maybe some Spyro Gyro... "Men and Black" by Will Smith... I even had this idea to take the song "Viva Las Vegas" by Jon Lennon (sp?), and change it to "Reno Las Vegas". Anyways, there's this great music venue in Reno called the Holland Project that LOVES cover bands. I intend to play shows here 3-5 days a week to keep a steady income, and THANK GOD just down Wells St. from the Holland Project, passed that bar with the Irish Goat Cartoon, in-between Ensueno Beauty Salon and Cricket Wireless, there's a little hole in the wall Mexican / Salvadorian restaurant called "Speedy Burritos". Can I just say that the food here is more then just "Speedy", it's also legitimately pretty great. I recommend turning around when you walk in the door to take in some cool folk art (it's like a museum in here!). Right above the door is a BEAUTIFUL painting of a large burrito man dancing with two aliens and two beautiful woman. I can only assume that this scene is based on some sort of Reno folk tale. The staff was great... I'm sure most of their burritos are great. I was unfortunate enough to get the alpastor wet burrito and the meat was not good. It tasted weird and there was chunks of fat still attached. I love alpastor anything but this was no bueno. The flavor of everything else was great though! read more

I must have gone on a bad day for the staff. Ordered a burrito to go thinking it would be served fast hence their name Speedy Burrito. The order taker was friendly and efficient. I observed the cooks to be somewhat disorganized. They got the order wrong of the guy two orders ahead of me. I finally got my order after waiting about 15 minutes and the place was not crowded. Someone called out my number and plopped my burrito on the counter. I got no thank you, have a good day, come again or eye contact. At the office I sat down to eat my carnitas burrito. I noticed the tortilla was burnt on one side. I ate around the burnt spot and it tasted good. The salsa was tasteless and seemed watered down. The place could have been cleaner.
