It didn't turn out to be though, I ordered a #1 combination plate, Crispy chicken tacos served with rice and beans. Don't usually love the rice and love refried beans. The tortillas were nicely grilled to a desired crispness. But that was about it. Everything on the plate was bland even after dousing with hot sauce. I was truly disappointed. The tacos were loaded with lettuce the chicken was tender but lacked flavor. I'm going to stick with my favorite Mexican restaurants from now on.... I've been going to super burrito for 15+ years - lived near it for 5-years and ate there weekly and went by today to get a burrito to go and had a moment that made me miss living in the hobo and tattoo shop filled cesspool they call midtown. My husband is a huge burrito fan, so we had to come try Speedy Burritos! He especially loves breakfast burritos so we were happy to see you can order them all day here. It's a hole-in-the-wall place on Wells that has very authentic Mexican food. We both got breakfast burritos, mine was regular size for $8 and my husband got a large for $10. These burritos were both huge, we could only eat about half of it in one sitting! The menu says the breakfast burritos come with eggs, potatoes, cheese, beans, and choice of meat. I got mine with bacon and my husband got his with chorizo. We both thought they tasted great! They were packed full of ingredients and the flavor was delightful. My husband wasn't a fan of having beans in his breakfast burrito and will ask for it without beans next time. They have a salsa bar so you can pick which salsas you want and how much which we loved. Their spiciest one was our favorite! You order at the counter and it took about 10-15 mins for our food to come out. This is a solid spot and we will plan to come back again! read more

Last weekend when I was out with a friend, I saw someone wearing a t-shirt from this place which IMMEDIATELY prompted me set a reminder to eat the food from this spot, SOON. Well, 'soon' happened to be today. I went to their website and placed an order for a BBQ Chicken burrito, a side of rice, and some fried jalapeños. From the moment I sunk my teeth in for the first bite, I was reminded that I shouldn't have stayed away from this spot as long as I have. The freshness of EVERYTHING was incredible. All of the ingredients in the burrito were prepared to perfection. The rice tasted a lot like my Grandmother's recipe from when I was a kid. The jalapeños ...were EN FUEGO. One bite in and I was reaching for the cooling liquid. Capsaicin 1, Chris Payne, 0. Normally, I can throw down jalapeños like candy. This one had some BITE and I loved it. One word to describe food from Speedy Burrito, YUM!!! I had no interest to prepare dinner last Tuesday, wanted Mexican food, our regular place closes at 2:30 pm. Found YELP reviews on this place and thought, why not. Ordered the Carne Asada Burrito with whole black beans, yes they have whole beans, with rice for the hubby. By the way, you need a fork to eat the burrito. For me, I ordered the Chile Relleno and Chicken Taco combo meal. So GOOD! Everything had great flavors. So worth driving into Reno for this meal. A friend tipped me off to Speedy Burritos as we were headed to a show at The Virgil down the street. I've got to say, I was super impressed. The food is great, the portions are huge and pricing is very good, even after some inflation. In our group we ordered the California Burrito, a Chile Relleno burrito and the Veggie Supreme. All were very good but the Veggie Supreme deserves a special mention. It has a great assortment of veggies, including broccoli. It is massive - easily capable of serving two people. There's a pretty good assortment of veggie options on the menu. Noting here that the burritos include real avocado chunks that were perfectly ripe instead of some questionably brown mashed avocado quasi-guacamole concoction. There's a nice selection of salsas at the little salsa bar. Also of note was that the staff was super friendly and it was spotlessly clean. This is the opposite of most of the other taqueria places around Reno. Even though Wells Ave is not the most convenient location for my usual Reno stops, I will definitely be putting Speedy Burrito into my rotation. read more

I'm visiting fora few days and wanted a breakfast burrito, so hopped on to Yelp for a recommendation. This place wasn't #1- not sure why -- but I'm so glad I scrolled down a bit. My burrito only cost $7.50, and was loaded with meat! I woke up this morning wanting another. My friend had huevos rancheros, and she said it was delicious! We're headed back today for lunch. The restaurant was small -- about 8 tables. Super clean! The bathroom had that faint smell of bleach so I know it was just cleaned. There was a little salsa bar, and self serve soda. Speedy Burrito is a gem in the Wells District. Ordering a to go order online has never been easier. They have a user friendly ordering system, most items have photos, and they allow you to modify each item the way you want it. They offer curbside pickup, you just call upon arrival and they'll bring your order out to your car. The food: They have a great extensive menu! Ordered the Chile Relleno combination plate, it was accompanied by rice and beans. Super tasty and very filling. Also tried the Carne Asada Sope, it was loaded with plenty of toppings and probably one of the best I've ever tasted. The chips and salsa are quality, super crispy chips. Then there's the large burrito, it's bigger than your average sized burrito. Filled with all the good toppings, almost 2 meals in one, also a good size to share. You know that voice that whispers... "BURRITO"? I heard that today and I must say Yelper got this right...this place is GREAT! I put my hand in the picture of the burrito sizes because the regular is well, regular, but the large is HUGE. I ordered the large veggie cut in half. REALLY DELICIOUS. They take very specific orders and write it down so cook gets it RIGHT. Even the cut in half & wrapped separately. I forget to take a picture because we were too hungry. This place was a surprise for a person like me who is always searching the planet Earth to find the best burrito! I had a wet chicken burrito and it was absolutely fabulous! I hurried back a week later to get another one and then order their chicken tacos for my son. This spot is a little hidden on South Wells, but it's a must-try! I got the chicken burrito (regular size because the large one is HUGE) and it was one of the best burritos I've ever had. The sour cream gave it a delicious creaminess, and I was impressed that the chicken was almost perfectly cooked, eliminating the need to counter out a dry meat. Recently moving to Reno, I would say I've had an entire paradise of authentic Mexican food living in the California Central Valley of Fresno, California. I visited this small establishment and was amazed by Mucho Grande California Burrito with Carne Asada. The seasoned asada was juicy and complimented by crispy seasoned French fries within the burrito. I enjoyed all the fixings including Guacamole, Queso beans, and rice with a robust salsa within the burrito. As I took my first bite, it was Love at First sight, Wow, all 290 pounds of this ex-football player was in hog heaven. So at first glance upon hearing the name and without actually experiencing their service I would have thought it to be just another mainstream fast food restaurant attempting to shovel food into our mouths for the sake of competing in an "instant gratification" world/era we've become. First time here last week and we thought it was great. The wife wanted a burrito. I am not a burrito guy, so I got the Chicken Enchilada plate lunch. We both thought the food was great. The place is small with just a few tables if eating inside, yet, clean. The service is fast and friendly, and the price is just right. We got out food to go and appreciate that they use a very stiff enclosure with a very tight lid for the togo orders, so any food juices aren't going to leak out of the container. GREAT. As far as fast food Mexican American places go in Reno, this is one of the better ones, although it faces still competition with all the authentic Mexican shops and food trucks on Wells, I still like to stop by when I am in the area. The inside is your usual divey sort of fast food thing with a counter and tables. They keep it reasonably cleaned and it's a nice spot to go grab some food after drinking at the bars in the area if you haven't already hit one of those food trucks. If you ever had Jimboys, I would say this is a slightly less greasy version but the portions are bigger and taste more healthy, if that makes sense! Speedy Burritos is a great example to not judge a book by its cover. Let me explain: I was off put with their restaurant name, "Speedy Burritos". I figured and assumed that the quality would've been sacrificed with the speedy service. With that being said, I never bothered to stop by. Fast forward to present day; my room mate was craving Mexican food and she heard great things about this place, so we gave it a shot -- and let me tell you, I have to apologize for my ignorance because their food is absolutely delicious. As their name implies, they do in fact deliver speedy service after you put in your order, but what's impressive is that you can taste the quality. Right over the counter, you can see the staff prep and cook your food as the aromas fill the restaurant. Service was also genuinely friendly (shout out to Jeffrey who helped us at the register). Located on Wells Avenue, Speedy Burritos is a cozy restaurant with a small covered front patio. Their menu has pictures displayed so you can get a visual idea of the items. Prices are very reasonable and after you order, you can help yourself to their Salsa Bar. We were quite hungry that night and decided to order 'til our hearts content. To start things off, we ordered their Pupusas, a #4 which was the Chicken Taquitos combination, a #7 which was the Carne Asada (steak) Combination with corn tortilla (which are handmade), and lastly we had to try a Chile Relleno Burrito. We also made our order "to-go". After picking out our salsas, we continued to wait until our order was ready. After arriving home, we set our food on the kitchen table and awed in amusement with the feast before us. Everything was So. Good. The Pupusas were cheesy and fluffy. They also had a nice char to it. The Chicken Taquitos were bite after bite delicious. The Carne Asada, was tender and seasoned well. It also came with a roasted pepper (not sure what kind), but it was definitely spicy. But it was so good, so I just fought through it. Lastly, the Chile Relleno Burrito was pretty big and was a symphony of pure bliss. Just check out the pictures provided and you'll see where I'm coming from. What did I learn that evening? Don't judge a restaurant purely from their name. This restaurant quickly turned the tides with everything they provided; from their great service to their impressively delicious and well portioned meals. This is a really nice place to have lunch or breakfast. The staff is friendly and courteous and their food is always freshly prepared. I enjoy their carne asada tacos. I ask for cilantro and onions on my tacos and I usually order the combination plate which comes with beans and rice.
